MIKAEL ÅKERFELDT Talks about “Clark” – Soundtrack from Netflix Series

InsideOutMusic will be releasing Mikael Åkerfeldt‘s score to the just-released Netflix  series ‘Clark’ on CD & Vinyl on the 22nd July.  CLARK is a brand-new six-part Netflix series released on May 5, 2022 and features a dramatic and mesmeric soundtrack by acclaimed Swedish musician, leading rock guitarist and songwriter, MIKAEL ÅKERFELDT.

“So, the cat’s out of the bag! ”Clark” was released on Netflix (May 5th) and the soundtrack has also been made available on Spotify. I’m writing this from the dressing room at EDM Expo center in Edmonton, AB, Canada. We have a show happening on this lovely tour with Mastodon and Khemmis. I’ve been terrorizing the band and crew with this new music of mine, but I’m rather proud of it, what can I say? I thoroughly hope you enjoy the series as well as the music. I’ll watch it all on our day off.

“In the meantime I also wanted you guys to know that the soundtrack will be made available on a limited run double vinyl as well as on CD.”

MIKAEL ÅKERFELDT’s atmospheric soundscape deftly captures the sound and feel of the times in music, ranging freely from swinging 60s style sounds to 1970s progressive rock and psychedelia via heavy metal, tango, funk, jazz, Arabic melodies and indie pop and chill. All of these vibrant layers and textures are skillfully combined to effortlessly underpin the high-octane dramatic content of the series and also to place it perfectly within the context of the times in which the drama plays out.  Clearly, in his element here, of the 34 tracks presented, four have a distinctive key vocal component provided by ÅKERFELDT himself.

DEVIL’S TRAIN have released their new official video for their third single “Ashes & Bones”!

“RD Liapakis is wearing his cowboy hat and rides his black stallion onto the sunset. The album’s title track feels like a lone cowboy is riding down the dirty fields of Dakota with a cigarette hanging from his mouth! But this guy, this guy is ready for some trouble and armed to teeth!”

The track is taken from the band’s upcoming album of the same title; “Ashes & Bones” that will be released on June 24, 2022 via ROAR! Rock of Angels Records!

James LaBrie, known internationally as the vocalist for progressive metal icons & Grammy-winners Dream Theater, embarks on uncharted waters with his fourth solo album, titled ‘Beautiful Shade of Grey’, out now!

To celebrate the release, they have launched a special 30min look at the making of the album, and you can watch that now here.

SAOR Premieres Music Video for New Song ‘Beyond the Wall’

Caledonian metal pioneer SAOR is now premiering the official music video for the brand new song, “Beyond the Wall,” which is taken from its upcoming fifth full-length album, ‘Origins!’ The song and video, which was created by Guilherme Henriques, can be found at THIS LOCATION.

SAOR mastermind Andy Marshall comments: “‘Beyond the Wall’ refers to the Antonine Wall which ran across the central belt of Scotland to keep the Caledonians/Picts at bay. The song is about their freedom, as they were not under Roman rule and the beauty and mystery of the lands beyond the wall.”

‘Origins’ is due on June 24 via Season of Mist, making it SAOR‘s debut to the label! Inspired by the myths and tales of the Scottish highlands, ‘Origins’ takes the listener deep into the ancient heartlands while delivering SAOR‘s signature hybrid of atmospheric black metal and folk.
