European metal powerhouse LAST TEMPTATION returns with a brand-new album Fuel for My Soul, which is out now on CD and digital via Crusader Records. A vinyl release will follow September 2.

Stream/buy ‘Fuel for My Soul’ HERE

To celebrate the release of the album LAST TEMPTATION have dropped a video for the title track. ‘Fuel for my Soul’ shows that music and art brings everyone together, whether you’re stupid or cool, rich or poor or black or white. This is true spirituality, where religions divide and arts unite. It is the fuel of our souls.

Fuel for My Soul is a great step forward for LAST TEMPTATION. Recorded in a week, the band took their time to rehearse the new songs and had over 40 demos before eventually narrowing it down to 11 hard-hitting tracks.

Fuel for My Soul has an entirely different production style compared to the last album. All the rhythm tracks, bass, drums and guitars were recorded live, and the songs are far more eclectic than previous releases. While LAST TEMPTATION still maintain their Ozzy/Black Sabbath influences, they add a grungy twist, along with big choruses that give an 80’s vibe.

FUEL FOR MY SOUL TRACKLISTING
1. Ashes and Fire
2. I Believe
3. Stronger Than Fate
4. I Don’t Wanna be Your God
5. Fuel for My Soul
6. Carousel of Hell
7. Free, Strong and Loud
8. In the Mirror
9. Main Attraction
10. The Answer
11. Going Crazy

Track By Track:

ASHES AND FIRE
‘Ashes and Fire’ is the fear of being left behind in this world. We want to leave an imprint in this world at all costs. In the end we will all be like our ancestors – totally forgotten.
BELIEVE
Everyone knows it, but they turn a blind eye to the inevitable – our self-destruction. ‘I Believe’ is about the denial of our society that makes us believe everything is preventable.
STRONGER THAN FATE
‘Stronger than Fate’ is about egos, and how they are often very big. This prevents us from seeing the reality of things. We are still in denial and we are convinced that we are stronger than destiny – big mistake.
I DON’T WANNA BE YOUR GO
‘Don’t Wanna Be Your God’ has a very simple view. It shows God resigning because he is tired of seeing men behaving like idiots.
FUEL FOR MY SOUL
‘Fuel for my Soul’ shows that music and art brings everyone together. Whether you’re stupid or cool, you’re rich or poor or black or white. This is true spirituality, where religions divide and arts unite. It is the fuel of our souls.
CAROUSEL OF HELL
‘Carrousel of Hell’ is a song that speaks of this world, and how it is ruled by fear. Everyone blames the others for all problems, without ever questioning themselves.
FREE, STRONG AND LOUD
This track speaks of freedom, without expecting anything from others. ‘Free, Strong and Loud’ shows people living things to the fullest, as every second counts.
IN THE MIRROR
‘In the Mirror’ is the bitter observation of our lives. We spent time complaining and pushing back opportunities. At the end, we regret that we didn’t do the things that are now too late to do. It is a one-on-one conversation between ourselves and death.
MAIN ATTRACTION
Once again, humanity tries to reassure itself about its life. ‘Main Attraction’ touches on the idea that sometimes we have the impression of doing things well, with the end being quite the opposite. It’s already too late to change anything.
THE ANSWER
‘The Answer’ is about the big question that everyone is asking: why are we on earth? What is our goal? The answer will surely not come from us, but from within.
GOING CRAZY
‘Going Crazy’ is a track about the need to be afraid of fear, as it has always haunted humanity. The fear of death, failures and refusals, when you start to think about it, it can sometimes drive us insane.

DIO’s “Holy Diver Super Deluxe Edition” Announced

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 22, 2022
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Ronnie James Dio. 1 Comment

Ronnie James Dio would have turned 80 years old on July 10. Among the greatest heavy metal singers of all time, Dio’s career spanned five decades, touched millions of fans and pioneered his signature “devil’s horns,” one of the most popular hand gestures in the world. Dio also provided vocals and lyrics for some of the most iconic rock albums of all time with Black Sabbath and Rainbow, before establishing his own band Dio as a metal force with their 1983 debut Holy Diver.

Holy Diver was a platinum-certified smash and one of the late singer-songwriter’s most groundbreaking achievements. Rhino revisits this epic metal moment on HOLY DIVER: SUPER DELUXE EDITION, available on July 8 as a 4-CD boxed set ($59.98) and digitally.

The collection comes with two versions of Holy Diver. The first is a new mix of the album made by Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Slipknot). He used the original analog tapes to remix all nine tracks on the album. The second is a newly remastered version of the original 1983 mix. The Super Deluxe Edition also features unreleased live performances and outtakes, along with a selection of rarities from the era.

Barresi’s new mix of “Holy Diver” is available today digitally as a preview to the new album mix. Click here to listen now.

In addition, Barresi’s new mix of Holy Diver will be released the same day as a 2-LP set on 180-gram vinyl ($34.98). It includes the original nine tracks, plus the 1983 B-side version of “Evil Eyes” as a bonus track. Side four is decorated with an etching of the legendary demon Murry that graces the album’s iconic cover. The vinyl is kept in a gatefold sleeve that shows off newly commissioned artwork by longtime Dio artist, Marc Sasso. The same artwork is also used for the 4-CD Super Deluxe Edition.

Critically acclaimed and a commercial success, Holy Diver contributed two timeless classics to the heavy metal canon – “Rainbow In The Dark” and its title track. The album also ranks #16 on Rolling Stone’s current list of “100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.”

After departing Black Sabbath in early 1982, Dio began composing songs that would eventually appear on the album. After writing both “Holy Diver” and “Don’t Talk To Strangers,” Dio then assembled an amazing group of musicians, two familiar faces and one fresh recruit, with drummer Vinny Appice (Dio’s Black Sabbath bandmate), bassist/keyboardist Jimmy Bain (Dio’s Rainbow bandmate) and guitarist Vivian Campbell joining him to record the Holy Diver album.

In the illustrated liner notes that accompany the Super Deluxe Edition, music journalist Mick Wall shares the album’s creation story, including the making of its crown jewel, “Rainbow In The Dark.”

He writes: “Lyrically, it was Ronnie James Dio at his poetic best…Musically, ‘Rainbow In The Dark’ was also the band’s first truly collaborative endeavor. The inspiration for the monster guitar riff came from something Viv had written when he was 16. Vinny added his distinctive battle-cry beat, and Jimmy added the final touch with the infectiously simple keyboard motif.” The song was finished in 10 minutes, he adds.

HOLY DIVER: SUPER DELUXE EDITION goes beyond the original album with a previously unreleased recording of the quartet performing live in 1983 at Selland Arena in Fresno, California during the Holy Diver Tour. Wyn Davis mixed the concert recording, which spotlights live versions of songs from Holy Diver (“Stand Up And Shout” and “Rainbow In The Dark”), Rainbow classics (“Man On The Silver Mountain” and “Starstruck”), and Sabbath staples, (“Children Of The Sea” and “Heaven And Hell.”)

The Super Deluxe Edition also revisits the Holy Diver recording sessions to uncover unreleased outtakes for several album cuts, including unheard takes for “Invisible,” “Straight Through The Heart,” and a version of “Rainbow In The Dark” that boasts an alternative guitar solo. There’s also an early version of “Evil Eyes,” a song that would resurface on Dio’s 1984 follow-up album, The Last in Line. A selection of rarities rounds out the new collection with mono and stereo 7” single edits for “Rainbow In The Dark” and a version of “Evil Eyes” that was released in 1983 as the B-side to “Holy Diver.”

Alongside the signing announcement, VOLCANDRA have today announced a new EP titled Border World – their first release on the Los Angeles label – with the lead single Tallon IV premiering now via Metal Injection.

Border World will be released on June 24 and is available to pre-order here.

LISTEN & WATCH THE VISUALIZER FOR TALLON IV VIA METAL INJECTION HERE.

Tallon IV is now available on all streaming platforms.

Speaking on their signing and EP announcement, VOLCANDRA comments: “We are thrilled to announce that we have signed to Prosthetic Records for the unveiling of our new EP Border World and future releases on the horizon. This EP was written and recorded during the thick of the COVID-19 lockdown. It picks up where we left off with our previous full-length, Into the Azure, while simultaneously exploring uncharted musical territory for the band. With a more collaborative and focused dynamic, we are very excited to see years of work come to fruition.”

On Tallon IV, the band adds: “Tallon IV is the opening track to the EP showcasing a balance between melodic passages and bursts of relentless ferocity accompanied by lyrics that will send the listener on a death-defying, futuristic science fiction adventure.”

Border World tracklist:

  1. Tallon IV
  2. Resonance Cascade
  3. Colossi
  4. Guardian

Since their 2019 inception and a well-received 2020 debut full-length, Into the Azure, VOLCANDRA have steadfastly been honing their craft on both the live-circuit and in the recording studio. Across Border World’s runtime, VOLCANDRA offers a distinctively futuristic vision of melodic black metal – with lyrical tales of possessed mythical beasts, draconic cyborgs and mystical border worlds inspired by a deep love for video games and futuristic storytelling. All of these thematic elements are brought to life in stunning fashion by Varises Otak (Cattle Decapitation, Cryptopsy and Amon Amarth)’s cover art.

Produced in its entirety by Devin Harper at Nocturnal Audio in the band’s home city of Louisville, Border World’s amalgam of sonic extremity and melodious sheen compliments the band’s lofty musicianship – with guitar duo Jamie DeMar and River Jordan alternating between contorted rhythms and luculent leads. VOLCANDRA’s propelling force of Mike Hargrave (drums) and Dyer Keathley (bass) provide a resolute backbone to the EP’s more excoriating passages of black metal, allowing Dave Palenske’s vocals to sit commandingly atop Border World’s barrage of sound.

Disinterested in theatrics and forced mystique, VOLCANDRA’s latest slice of fantasy world building is a byproduct of the band members lifelong reverence for science fiction – which serves as a vibrant alternative to some of metal’s darker corners. The group have officially opened the portal to their border world, and the invite remains open for all dreamers and wide eyed escapists who wish to enter.

WOLVES IN WINTER Sign With Argonauta Records, First Full-Length Coming

Epic, emotional, eloquent… Newly formed UK doom metal quintet WOLVES IN WINTER have hit the ground running. Forming between lockdowns in 2020, Wolves In Winter have worked tirelessly to forge a crushing fusion of traditional and contemporary doom metal. The band is comprised of seasoned veterans from the UK heavy music underground, including former and present members of Solstice, Lazarus Blackstar, Monolith Cult, Slammer and more, effortlessly building on a wealth of experience and carving a fully realised sound and vision. Today, the heavy doom collective has announced their worldwide signing with Argonauta Records, who are proud to release the band‘s upcoming, first full-length album during 2022!

“We’re really excited about our collaboration with Argonauta – they’re a great label, who are easy to work with and they have some really cool, quality bands on the roster,“ the band comments. This is a great opportunity to bring ourselves to a wider audience, with the help from an established and respected record company and we’re looking forward to our journey with them.“

Wolves In Winter have written and recorded their forthcoming debut album with Chris Fielding (Conan) at Foel Studios. Working with Fielding has allowed them to capture enormous tones and crushing riffs. The quintet seamlessly honour doom metal traditionalists such as Cathedral and Candlemass, yet go toe to toe with contemporary favourites including Pallbearer and Windhand. Wolves In Winter land on both sides of the coin, building dynamic, weighty and nuanced lengthy tracks that are as heavy sonically as they are emotionally. With riffs and chord progressions that are contemplative and melancholic, a subtle yet driving rhythm section, and a powerhouse lead vocal performance which brims with emotive and passionate gravelly harmonies akin to Alice In Chains, Wolves In Winter have already crafted a versatile, engrossing and powerful sound.

Wolves In Winter are currently working hard behind closed doors and have already attracted a buzz from metal publications and record companies. Watch out for many more updates and album details to follow, as with their recent signing with powerhouse label Argonauta Records, Wolves In Winter will undoubtedly make a huge impression in the metal scene holding onto an album that will turn heads!

DRAGGED UNDER Release New Single ‘Suffer’

DRAGGED UNDER and Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group have presented “Suffer” from the band’s upcoming new studio album titled UPRIGHT ANIMALS which will be released globally on June 10.  Singer Tony Cappocchi shares, “’Suffer’ is about the nature of compromise, especially with people you love. Whether or not we acknowledge it, sometimes we make the people we care about suffer because of our actions. Touring as a musician is a perfect example. I leave my fiancé at home to manage our bills, keep up the house, take care of family things all while maintaining her own life.  It can be isolating and I’m sure it’s not always fun, but sometimes suffering so that your partner can chase their dreams is necessary, but it has to be reciprocal.”  The release will be available on CD, an orange transparent LP, and digitally.

Recently, the band and MLG presented the official music video for “Crooked Halos,” which can be screened here: https://youtu.be/Ch11ukbOOy8.  Prior, the first reveal was the song and accompanying video for “All Of Us,” which can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/uIBGie-JCbQ.

In 2021, Dragged Under collaborated with Underoath’s Spencer Chamberlain presenting “Brainwash Broadcast,” which can be seen here: https://youtu.be/ve1Zr688E_Q.  At the time of release, the band shared, “’Brainwash Broadcast’ isn’t a hyper nuanced allegory, it’s a journal entry on the media sensationalism that we endure every day. You can hear the same story from 2 different outlets with competing ideologies, and think two completely different things. It can be hard to decipher satire from real life news some days because of how inundated we are with subjective opinion pieces and click bait headlines.  We have a problem with division and fear, and our media and ‘journalists’ are at the center of it.” Still as relevant in 2022 as it ever has been.

This past August, the band released WE’LL DO IT LIVE via Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group. Timed to that title, Dragged Under presented “Hypochondria,” which can be heard and screened here: https://youtu.be/B3Ap8cw3XFE.  Additionally, the band and label released a deluxe version of the band’s debut album titled The World Is In Your Way, with two bonus tracks added titled “Just Like Me” and “Feel It.’”

When you strip everything else away, we rely on our animal instincts to survive. In the face of danger, we either flee or fight without hesitation. No matter how many perceived differences exist between us, we breathe the same air, drink the same water, and eat the same way to subsist. Dragged Under naturally harness this primal power in their hard-hitting hybrid of punk, rock, metal, and hardcore. Choosing to progress, the Seattle quintet—Tony Cappocchi [vocals], Ryan Bruce [guitar], Sean Rosario [guitar], Hans Hessburg [bass], and Kalen Anderson [drums]—sharpen their claws, teeth, and style on their second full-length album, Upright Animals [Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group].

With animalistic energy, Dragged Under charged out of the gate in 2020 on their debut The World Is In Your Way. The album generated streams in the tens of millions and earned widespread critical acclaim. Beyond plugs from Loudwire, New Noise Magazine, and more, KERRANG! hailed it as “nine tracks of the edgiest, most in-your-face punk in recent memory – loaded with underdog appetite and energy,” and Alternative Press named it one of the “20 Debut Albums That Took Metalcore to the Next Level in 2020.” Along the way, they toured alongside everyone from The Used to Beartooth. During 2021, they recorded what would become Upright Animals with frequent collaborator Hiram Hernandez [Jared Dines, Craig Owens] in Los Angeles and Matt Good [Hollywood Undead, Asking Alexandria] in Phoenix.

“There was an element of thematic development,” Tony reflects. “The last record was a bunch of different phases of my life. I had 21 years to write it. I only had a year-and-a-half to write this one. It’s about a time, a place, events, and what I was a feeling in this window.”

In the end, Dragged Under evolve by eliciting emotion from the purest place possible. The complete track listing of Upright Animals features, “Upright Animals,” “All Of Us,” “Never Enough,” “Crooked Halos,” “Long Live The King,” “Suffer,” “See You Alive,” “Weather,” “No Place Like Home,” “Words For Hire,” “Brainwash Broadcast feat. Spencer Chamberlain,” and “This Is The End.”

“When you listen to this, I hope you experience moments of tension, anxiety, sadness, and happiness,” he leaves off. “At the same time, it’s nostalgic for us. We want it to remind you of being young and discovering the bands that changed your life. If you think, ‘This reminds me of what I grew up on,’ I’d be very satisfied. We spent a lot of time and energy on this. I’m excited about the future.”
