SATAN Announce Dates in Germany + Benelux with Label Mates PORTRAIT as Direct Support

NWOBHM heroes, SATAN, who released their sixth full length album Earth Infernal via Metal Blade in April this year, have announced a 9-date trek through Germany and the Benelux in October. Support comes from Swedish Heavy Metal villains PORTRAIT, who released their critically acclaimed new album At One With None last September via Metal Blade.

Earth Infernal is a product of the times that birthed it and could only be the work of SATAN. Having churned out cutting edge heavy metal throughout the 80s – and reunited in 2011 – their sixth full-length maintains the high standard they long ago set, and it is perhaps their timeliest release. “For two years the world has been preoccupied with politics and pandemics and while we were all looking the other way our planet has continued to get hotter,” says guitarist Russ Tippins. “Our Earth is now infernally hot. Almost irreversibly so. We are on a one-way trip to Hell and dragging our children along with us. Yes, SATAN has something to say about global warming.” The album entered the German Charts on position 12, the highest Chart entry ever for SATAN!

When it comes to modern heavy metal, there are few bands operating at the same level as PORTRAIT! For a decade and a half, the Swedish unit have been forging their own path, and in the process, infusing life into a longstanding, well-established genre and taking it in new directions. Following up 2017’s acclaimed Burn The World, they returned in 2021 with the mighty At One With None, which was recorded at JFK Studios in Kristianstad, Sweden with Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Hatesphere) handling the mixing. While PORTRAIT fans will immediately recognize it as the work of their heroes, they are not simply rehashing old ideas and treading where they have before. At One With None received critical acclaim by the fans and entered the German Charts on position 41!

Ecuadorian MINIPONY Share New Music Video ‘Song For Fiona’

Ecuadorian avant-garde/tech death metal trio MINIPONY is gearing up for the release of the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album “AJNA“, which will be coming out on June 24th via Subsound Records. In support of the new record, the band has shared a brand new music video for the track “Song For Fiona”.

The band comments:

“Song for Fiona is the second single of our new album AJNA, it’s a super powerful and groovy song, it respects the aesthetics of our compositions on our first album quite a lot but you can already feel a bit of the evolution in the melodic aspect that we have experienced. In particular with the guitar riffs, always hammering but a little more movement.“

With 12 brand new tracks, “AJNA” presents an organic and engaging sound accompanied by a deep excursion in the melodic and rhythmic aspects with insane vocals. The result is already one of the most important productions in the South American metal circuit. Songs that lyrically touch on themes of respect for animal life and human unconsciousness represented in cynical metaphors, result in a deep and direct concept.

SAOR Streams New Album ‘Origins’ Ahead of Release

Caledonian metal pioneer SAOR is now streaming its upcoming fifth full-length album, ‘Origins,’ in its entirety ahead of this Friday’s release! The album can be heard at THIS LOCATION.

‘Origins’ is due on June 24 via Season of Mist, making it SAOR‘s debut to the label! Inspired by the myths and tales of the Scottish highlands, ‘Origins’ takes the listener deep into the ancient heartlands while delivering SAOR‘s signature hybrid of atmospheric black metal and folk.

QUIET CONFUSION Share Brand New Single ‘Droppers’

On July 15th Italy’s QUIET CONFUSION will release their brand new album “Magella” via Go Down Records. Featuring eight tracks, recorded in the “old-fashioned way” to capture the strength and dynamism of live music, with “Magella” the band presents their very own a blend of straight stoner rock with tons of fuzz, 70s echoes and psychedelic trips. An album far from the current usual rules, but essential for the band since it is extremely honest.

“The song is a fair of nonsense, distortions and unreal situations that surround us everyday. Truth, on the other hand, is given with an eyedropper. Hailing from Oulu, northern Finland, Rat Boogie is a trio that melts different influences into a tightly rocking, original package. In the core there is always the organic live playing that gives the flowing melodies a solid backbone. With an amply aggressive but breathing sound, Rat Boogie adventures inside the rock’n roll nucleus, celebrating all the good things that can be achieved with guitars, bass and drums.
