UNDERTOW Release First Single + Video ‘On Fire’ from Upcoming Album

UNDERTOW draw attention to the upcoming album “BIPOLAR” with a first stunning song, which will be released on July 8th, 2022. “On Fire”: the title says it all! Watch the video below.

“BIPOLAR”: Nine new songs on their ninth album in their twenty-ninth year.
Ascribing Undertow a penchant for number games or arithmetic is at least arguable. On the other hand, it is undisputed that the band works very specifically with moods on “BIPOLAR” – from extremely heavy to total melancholy. These contrasting mood swings have always been trademarks of this special band. Artwork is again by Björn Gooßes | Killustrations

This also starts the pre sale of the new album.
“BIPOLAR” will be released as a CD and a very limited Black Steel Box (with album, dog tag, keyholder and autograph card).

MUNICIPAL WASTE Reveal New Single + Video ‘Electrified Brain’

Richmond’s hard-charging, thrash metal maniacs MUNICIPAL WASTE have debuted the title track from their massively-anticipated 7th studio album, “Electrified Brain,” that’s due out July 1st via Nuclear Blast. Their third single, “Electrified Brain,” arrives in the grotesque form of a face-melting horror short directed by esteemed FX artist Norman Cabrera (From Dusk Till Dawn, The Walking Dead, Kill Bill).

Watch the video for “Electrified Brain”:

Pre-order “Electrified Brain”: https://www.municipalwaste.net/electrified-brain
Pre-Save “Electrified Brain”: https://municipalwaste.bfan.link/electrified-brain

Commenting on the new single and video, guitarist Ryan Waste says:
“’Electrified Brain’ is a tale of revenge and redemption, continuing the concept of our song ‘Mental Shock’ rounding out the ‘Deathripper Trilogy.’  It’s about being wrongfully accused and stripped of your rights, only to overcome and break free through the electric power of heavy music. We called upon our friend Norman Cabrera once again to handle the title track music video after the incredible job he did on ‘Slime and Punishment.’ Visually he went above and beyond and it became a much more cinematic experience thanks to Rob Lucas at Wolfpack Studios.”

Norman Cabrera adds about making the video:
“I pulled out all the stops for this video. It’s in the spirit of classic Heavy Metal videos like Ozzy’s Bark at the Moon and Dio’s The Last in Line. Sci Fi-Horror imagery lends itself very well to the vibe of the band. We’re channeling a bit of Cronenberg and Carpenter. The best sci fi movies of the past often take current events and put them in a fantastic setting. The video takes place in a not so distant dystopian future where your individuality can be taken away by a faceless organization. It’s a wild concept but not too far off from our world today.”

MUNICIPAL WASTE will be on the road in support of “Electrified Brain” all summer and fall in North America and Europe including tours with AT THE GATES and ANTHRAX.
Purchase tickets here: https://www.municipalwaste.net/tour

Since 2001, Municipal Waste have uncompromisingly stuck to their guns as hard-partying and even harder-hitting torchbearers of 21st century thrash metal. The Richmond, VA quintet—Tony Foresta [vocals], Ryan Waste [guitar], Philip “Landphil” Hall [bass], Dave Witte [drums], and Nick Poulos [guitar]—have transformed from a cult favorite into metal mainstays for a generation. Along the way, Decibel touted “The Art of Partying” in its coveted “Hall of Fame” and asserted it “revved up interest in thrash and inspired a fresh wave of youthful new bands.” Metal Hammer christened “The Art of Partying” one of “The 50 Greatest Thrash Metal Albums Ever,” while Loudwire pegged “The Art of Partying” as “The Best Thrash Album of 2007” and “Hazardous Mutation” as “The Best Thrash Album of 2005.” The guys have sold out countless shows on multiple continents and piled up tens of millions of streams in the process. 2017’s “Slime  and Punishment” bowed in the Top 3 of the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart, and “The Last Rager” EP only accelerated their momentum in 2019.

Municipal Waste maintain course as vicious and vital as ever on 2022’s Electrified Brain [Nuclear Blast] as heard on tracks like “Grave Dive,” “High Speed Steel” and “Crank The Heat.” Recorded during the pandemic in Philadelphia with producer Arthur Rizk [Power Trip, Code Orange], the sessions would be the first time the band reunited in person after a year. Together, they achieved “a thicker and heavier sound.”

In the end, “Electrified Brain” will give you everything you’d want from a Municipal Waste record or heavy metal record, period. “We hope you walk away with some bloody ears, blown speakers, pissed off parents, black eyes, and a healthy distrust of authority,” says Tony.

ELUVEITIE Release Video for New Single ‘Aidus’

After three years of silence, Swiss Metal legends ELUVEITIE step out of the dark again, raising their voices to herald a new era of the band’s stunning career. Today, the band releases their new single ‘Aidus’, following the huge success of their last album Ategnatos but in the same time showing the band from a never-before-seen side.

Founding member Chrigel Glanzmann comments on the approach:
“Definitely one of the harshest songs of Eluveitie ever. It’s the sheer consequence  of our spiritual journey with “Ategnatos”:
We’re no longer a “Celtic Metal” band… a metal band singing about celtic history. We’re Celts playing metal music from all our hearts.
We’re no more a “Pagan Metal” band. We are metal music playing pagans from all our hearts, gashing principles of our modern societies with our ancient message like a surgical blade.
That’s probably the best way to describe our new single. Deal with it!”

The song comes with a new music video that you can check out here:

MASSACRE Release New EP “Mythos” on July 1st + Unveil New Single ‘Behind The Serpents Curse’

Following a slaying performance at Maryland Deathfest last weekend, Floridian death metal juggernauts, MASSACRE have announced plans to release a new EP titled “Mythos” on July 1st with Nuclear Blast. Today, the band has revealed the record’s first single “Behind The Serpent’s Curse,” which features Anders Odden (CADAVER), that is accompanied by a b-side track “The Dunwich Horror.”

Pre-Save/Pre-Order “Mythos”: https://bfan.link/Massacre-Mythos

Commenting on the new single and b-side, vocalist Kam Lee states:
“‘Behind the Serpent’s Curse’ is lyrically inspired by and roughly based on the Lovecraft short story “The Curse Of Yig,” but is also the most metaphorically lyrical based song I’ve written in Massacre, and that is directly inspired by actual real life circumstances. It acts like a warning of sorts and is a foretelling of how it’s been like dealing with certain toxic individuals in my life. It indirectly relates to individuals whom always seem to come in pairs, and how, like serpents these people spread their venomous poison (lies).
I also had guest vocalist Anders Odden (Cadaver) join me on this particular track because lyrically it is very similar in theme to the Cadaver track “Feed The Pigs” that I made a guest appearance on. Having two distinct vocalist on a track that lyrically is based on the concepts of duality of untrusting individuals wasn’t just an after thought either, I always intended this track to be represented by two vocalist.
‘The Dunwich Horror’ is a more traditional track in both lyrical approach and aesthetics. It’s just basically loosely based upon the Lovecraft story of the same name, but still resonates upon the core theme of twins. Two seemingly evil brother abominations brought into this world by a grotesque and hideous matriarch. I guess one could say I am suggesting that behind every pair of twin lying toxic men is always an equally conniving female antagonist. Yeah, sure, I’m simply reflecting upon my own past experiences, but it seems to be the case in a lot of similar circumstances.
Musically both tracks are laden in the same old school death metal style that can be found on ‘Resurgence.’ It’s a sound and style that carries over and shall continue to be the core essence of MASSACRE under my helm.”

Stream “Behind The Serpent’s Curse”: https://bfan.link/Massacre-BehindTheSerpentCurse

MASSACRE rose from the swamps of Southern Florida in the early 80’s during a heatwave of groundbreaking death metal that produced some of the genre’s most revered forefathers, DEATH, OBITUARY and SIX FEET UNDER. Their legacy was founded with a string of classic demos, “Aggressive Tyrant” (1986), “Chamber of Ages” (1986) and “The Second Coming” (1990), before unleashing their critically praised classic debut album “From Beyond” (1991). In 2021, the band made their long-awaited return with “Resurgence.” Invigorated with the same youthful rage that brought them together at inception, long-time members, vocalist Kam Lee (MANTAS, BONE GNAWER, THE GROTESQUERY) and bassist Mike Borders, were joined in the studio by some of death’s most prolific and malignant songwriters, guitarist Rogga Johansson (PAGANIZER, MEGASCAVENGER, RIB SPREADER), guitarist Jonny Pettersson (WOMBBATH, NATTRAVNEN, HENRY KANE), guitarist Scott Fairfax (MEMORIAM, AS THE WORLD DIES) and drummer Brynjar Helgetun (CRYPTICUS, THE GROTESQUERY) with additional guest performances by Marc Grewe (INSIDIOUS DISEASE), Dave Ingram (BENEDICTION), Anders Odden (CADAVER), and Pete Slate (DRUID LORD) The record was recorded with producer and death metal icon Dan Swanö (ex-Edge of Sanity, ex-Bloodbath) and Pettersson as engineer/mixer.

Now only a year later, MASSACRE emerges from the swamps again for the brutally devastating EP, “Mythos.” Picking up where they left off on “Resurgence,” the band lays waste with Lovecraftian inspired lyrics and searing death metal riffs.

About INHUMAN CONDITION:
Spawning from chaos, Inhuman Condition came to life with all guns blazing in the fall of 2020. With an album and a half of material from what was to be a new Massacre album, Jeramie Kling (vocals, drums – Venom Inc, Ex Deo, The Absence) and Taylor Nordberg (guitars – Deicide, The Absence) joined up with Terry Butler (bass – Obituary, Death, Massacre, Six Feet Under) to form a new band and to self-release their debut album “Rat°God” on Kling and Nordberg’s own Listenable Insanity Records on June 4th, 2021. The album was hailed with rave reviews and the group went on to do 2 tours in the United States in support of the record.

Wasting no time, the band wrote and recorded their second album, “Fearsick,” in 2019 and 2021 with mixing by Kling and mastering by Nordberg at Smoke & Mirrors Productions.

ANTHRAX Release Video for ‘Aftershock’ + Start Pre-Order for New Live Album “XL”

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Anthrax. Leave a comment

July 18th 2021 marked the 40th anniversary of thrash metal pioneers ANTHRAX. The celebration began in May of last year and culminated on that July 16th/17th with a global livestream event, shot at the Los Angeles soundstage/studio The Den. For two-plus hours, Anthrax performed an extensive set of hits and deep cuts pulled from their vast catalogue. Today, Anthrax announces that the entire performance, plus never-before-seen rehearsal footage, and Scott Ian’s New York City “walking tour” pointing out the spots that played a role in Anthrax’s formation and history, will be released in North America on July 15th on Blu-Ray/CD/Digital (Megaforce). ‘XL’ will also have a UK/European digital release on July 15th (Nuclear Blast), followed by a Blu-Ray release (inc. 2CD + 1Blu-Ray) on July 22nd.

Also today, Anthrax serves up a taste of the ‘XL’ celebration livestream with ‘Aftershock’, the Blu-Ray’s first single/video.

“Forty years doesn’t feel like 40 years,” said drummer Charlie Benante. “Sometimes I have to remind myself about how long this strange trip has been. I enjoy playing these songs, they’re such a huge part of my life, and I know for a lot of our fans, they play a big part in theirs as well.”

From the night of the livestream, bassist Frank Bello recalled, “For me, each song was like reading through a scrapbook of my life and the band’s career. Specifically, ‘Madhouse,’ one of my first recordings with the band, and then to where we are now with ‘Blood Eagle Wings.’  What a great ride it’s been, I’m very grateful.”

“Even though we were performing in a studio with just the crew there, we played that set like we were in front of 50,000 screaming fans,” said vocalist Joey Belladonna. “I felt like we made a full-on connection with everyone watching from their homes or wherever, and that they connected with us. It was quite an intense experience.”

Currently, Anthrax are about six months into their 41st year, and the band – Belladonna, Ian, Bello, Benante, and guitarist Jon Donais – don’t quite have their 40th-anniversary in the rear-view mirror. Said Ian, “We had planned to do a big, 40th-anniversary world tour last year, but because of COVID, we couldn’t. So we’re doing our 40th anniversary this year, our 41st. We’re starting in America in July, going out with Black Label Society and Hatebreed, and then we headline a UK and European tour this fall. We’re all really looking forward to being out on the road, playing shows and some deep cuts to celebrate our 40th with our fans.”
