SMOKE Release Haunting New Music Video ‘Motion’ from Upcoming Album

While drawing their inspiration by nature – hailing from the arresting South of the Netherlands – and the colorful, musical facettes of desert, southern sludge and psychedelic rock, SMOKE creates an intense fusion of melody, groove and hard hitting riff tornados. May 27th will see the Dutch trio release their first full-length album, entitled The Mighty Delta Of Time, via Argonauta Records but today, they not only shared some new album details but a music video for their second single, the haunting southern rock juggernaut “Motion”!

Says the band: “Motion is the second single release off our upcoming album “The Mighty Delta of Time” a groove oriented track with clean resonators strumming heavy on a growling bass line that’s supported by a wild drum beat placing you dead center in the Smoke Bayou.

Growing up around the ocean, wetlands and forest we have a strong connection with our surroundings. Having backgrounds in farming and preservation we see a lot of damage and change in the environments we grew up in. Motion talks about the way forward and protecting what is around us.

Let us take you with us on a trip through our Psychedelic Swamp with this Rock groover and share some of our family gumbo with y’all.”

The Mighty Delta Of Time is slated for a digital release on May 27, 2022 via Argonauta Records, with a CD edition to follow in the not so distant future. Fans of southern and desert rock, psychedelia yet sludge metal sounds and a vibrant fusion of all that is heavy, melodic and groovy, should watch out for SMOKE‘s upcoming debut, as it may become a favorite soundtrack of your summer!

MARTO Release Two New Songs And Video for ‘Nihil’

Finnish poetic extreme metal act MARTO is back with new a single and video for “Nihil” along with B-side track “Kaos“. The title track can be viewed via Rockhopper Music’s official YouTube channel.

Marto was formed in 2021 by four members of the Finnish post-metal band Atlases. The idea behind the band is to combine hard-hitting extreme music, quality production and melancholic Finnish poems. “Nihil” is a step off from grindish territory, and it showcases a slower and more melancholic side of the band.

“Nihil” and “Kaos” will not be featured on the forthcoming album to be released via Rockhopper Music next year. The band’s debut EP “Sine Nomine” was released in December 2021.

Finnish alternative death metal band EXTINCTION IN PROGRESS released their long-awaited debut album Shades of Pale via Inverse Records. The basis of the album is cast firmly from modern, aggressive death metal, in which emotions from a wide spectrum are skillfully woven into: from fragile, beautiful melancholy to crushing despair.

The band comments the release followingly:

“This record has been under construction since 2019 and we’re really excited to finally reveal it to others! It’s everything we want to express with our music. We’re very proud of the result.”

Extinction In Progress was formed in the year 2011. The lineup took root after the first demo and haven’t changed since. After releasing few demos and EPs their full-length debut album Shades of Pale is finally released in 2022.

DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT Announce New European Tour

German black metal experimentalists of DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT are proud to announce new European tour dates for the Fall of 2022. The rampage will kick off at the Slaughter Club in Milano (IT) on September 16th and continues to wreak havoc throughout 5 more countries until a final curtain in Strasbourg (FR) on October 1st.

Special guests during all confirmed dates are label mates REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER and the recently signed black metal outfit BIZARREKULT!

Tickets will be on sale on April 26!

DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT comment on the tour: “Having already toured with REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER in 2017, we quickly found out that it’s the perfect match not only musically but also personally. We had a great time with our French brothers throughout a total of 23 shows and can’t wait to repeat this on the next string of shows this year in support of our new album NOKTVRN. Joining us on this ride will also be BIZARREKULT, newly signed labelmates and very promising band hailing from Oslo, Norway. As promised we did our best to reschedule the shows in Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Dresden and Trier after having to cancel them due to Covid-19. Let’s all do our best to make this happen without any more disappointments! We can’t wait to hit the road again and hope to see you all this September and October!”

LION’S SHARE Release New Single And Video ‘Throne Of Steel’

Swedish heavy metal band LION’S SHARE has made a new song, ‘Throne Of Steel’, available on streaming services and digital service providers.

LION’S SHARE singer Nils Patrik Johansson commented: “This is a real favorite of mine. Pure metal from start to finish. In my book it’s our best song since ‘We Are What We Are’. Lyric wise it’s also pretty interesting since it’s about the fact that everything seems to be a quest for power. To be on top of the throne. With that said we’d better add that the lyrics were written before Russia invaded Ukraine.”

In late 2018, LION’S SHARE released a new five-track EP, plus its complete catalog – remastered with new artwork – on streaming services and digital service providers for the first time. The band have since released a few more digital singles, some of which will and some of which won’t end up on the forthcoming full-length album.

LION’S SHARE guitarist Lars Chriss added: “I’ve always been a fan of lead guitar players like George Lynch and Randy Rhoads who play a little bit ”outside of the box” with some unexpected notes. I wanted to experiment a little bit myself and came up with a pretty ”crazy” solo, which I still think fit the song.”

Both Johansson and Chriss remark that they have always worked very well together, and at this point it feels the most natural to keep LION’S SHARE as a duo, with friends helping out wherever needed.

“We are aware our fans want a new album and the plan was to release one in 2020, but we all know what happened then. We had just started playing live again with a couple of headline shows in Germany in March and were gearing up towards a new album and tour. Since we think it’s very important to tour behind a new album, we just have to wait until things go back to “normal” again”. Until then, we plan to release a new single every 2-3 months and keep building our fan base.” 

The LION’S SHARE catalog features appearances by members and ex-members of KISS, MEGADETH, KING DIAMOND, HAMMERFALL, SYMPHONY X, CHIMAIRA, THERION, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, CANDLEMASS, etc. 

Mixers include top engineers such as Jens Bogren (ARCH ENEMY, OPETH, SYMPHONY X, AMON AMARTH) – Niklas Flyckt (one-time Grammy Award winner and four-time nominee) and Ronny Lahti (ROXETTE, EUROPE, Glenn Hughes).

ICYMI: In 2020, brothers Sakis and Themmis Tolis were bestowed the immortal honor of having a newly discovered fossil species named after them! Two researchers from the Natural History Museum in Luxembourg,  Dr. Ben Thuy and and Dr. Lea Numberger, recently found a new brittle-star species and decided to name it “Brezinacantha Tolis” in honor of the Tolis brothers. More info on the discovery and its etymology can be found HERE.

ROTTING CHRIST previously revealed a coveted collaboration with the creators of the PS4 game “Mortal Shell,” which featured the band’s epic track “Χ Ξ Σ (666)” in the official trailer! The game was released worldwide in August of 2020. The trailer can be seen at THIS LOCATION.

It’s not ROTTING CHRIST‘s first encounter with the gaming industry. The band was discovered on a poster in the game ‘The Last of Us Part 2’ along with label mates HORRENDOUS!
