BLACK VOID Ink Worldwide Deal with Nuclear Blast + Announce Debut Album “Antithesis” for May 27th

Hard rock band WHITE VOID’s debut record “Anti” (also on Nuclear Blast) was one of last year’s most colourful and surprising releases, hailed by a collective metal press as an absolute whirlwind of occult rock and melodic new wave. But vocalist and band frontman Lars Are Nedland – also a long-time member of BORKNAGAR and SOLEFALD – clearly needed a contrast to all the colour and flamboyance, and thus BLACK VOID forced itself into being. Not a band for waiting, the debut album “Antithesis” was recorded almost immediately and is set to be released through Nuclear Blast on May 27th – as a grimy contrast to WHITE VOID’s colourful and melodic outlet.

“Antithesis”, then, is nihilistic aggression and desperation. Furious and unrepentant in attitude, it builds on the philosophical works of Friedrich Nietzsche while leaning on punk rock and black metal. Nihilistic, filthy, violent and raw.

Today, BLACK VOID premiere their frantic first single and music video ‘Reject Everything’. Watch it here:

Lars Are Nedland comments: «You can only take so much colour and harmony in your life. This one’s for the gloom. For the fury. For the filthiness of existence. Nihilism tells us there are no grounds for morality or knowledge in life. So, what does that leave us? Nothing! Nihil! The only sensible reaction to that is to Reject Everything”.

Pre-order “Antithesis” in the format of your choice here: https://bfan.link/BVantithesis

BLACK VOID is a punk laden, black metal infused band spearheaded by Lars Are Nedland, and completed by drummer Tobias Solbakk (IHSAHN, WHITE VOID, IN VAIN) and guitarist Jostein Thomassen (BORKNAGAR, PROFANEBURIAL).

In many ways BLACK VOID is the flipside of WHITE VOID: A full-on rejection of the philosophy of Albert Camus and an endorsement of Friedrich Nietzsche, a full-on rejection of a soft, melodic approach to music and a full-on rejection of a playful, tongue-in-cheek attitude. With that as a backdrop, “Antithesis” becomes an album that pays respect to fifty years of punk and forty years of black metal – a musical equivalent of a punk with a Mohawk fighting a dude in corpse paint.

Add to that guest vocal appearances by black metal royalties Sakis Tolis of ROTTING CHRIST and Hoest of TAAKE, “Antithesis” appears as a statement of sorts: A nihilistic musical outburst flipping off morality and hailing aggression while at the same time forcing your foot to tap to its relentless drive.

“Antithesis” Tracklist:

1. Void 4:23
2. Reject Everything 4:48
3. Death to Morality 5:03
4. Tenebrism of Life 4:16
5. No Right, No Wrong 4:09
6. It’s not Surgery, it’s a Knife Fight 4:32
7. Explode into Nothingness 3:21
8. Nihil 3:28
9. Dadaist Disgust 4:24

“Antithesis” was written and recorded between 2019 and 2021 and mixed and mastered by Øystein G. Brun at Crosound Studio.
Drums were engineered and recorded by Tobias Øymo Solbakk at Splinter Studios, while bass, vocals and keys were engineered and recorded by Lars Are Nedland at Mezzanine Studios.
Guitars were engineered and recorded by Jostein Thomassen at Riff Sheriff Studio and keys are played by Lars Are Nedland.

DRAGGED UNDER Announce New Album “Upright Animals”

DRAGGED UNDER have announced the global release of their new studio album “Upright Animals”, set to be released on June 10th, via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group. Pre-Order at https://lnk.to/DraggedUnder.

Furthermore the band has unveiled a music video for ‘All Of Us’, watch it below.

Singer Tony Cappocchi shares on the new single, “For me, ‘All of Us’ is meant to connect with anyone who listens to it. I want everyone to feel that despite their situation; be it relationship issues, social pressures, self perception, we’ve all had a weird few years, and a lot hasn’t gone as we planned. It’s important to zoom out from the microscope through which we view our problems, and realize that life and all of its frustrations are happening to all of us. We wanted to make a lighthearted video to contrast the tension of the song, but we liked the idea of using dolls to tell that story. It’s a bit of a commentary on the nature of feeling a bit out of control of the situations we’ve found ourselves in the last couple of years, and how we sometimes have to just pretend it’s all good. Dolls have an ability that I envy, they can smile through their problems and hide their emotions. I can’t relate.”  The release will be available on CD, an orange transparent LP, and digitally.

When you strip everything else away, we rely on our animal instincts to survive. In the face of danger, we either flee or fight without hesitation. No matter how many perceived differences exist between us, we breathe the same air, drink the same water, and eat the same way to subsist. Dragged Under naturally harness this primal power in their hard-hitting hybrid of punk, rock, metal, and hardcore. Choosing to progress, the Seattle quintet—Tony Cappocchi [vocals], Ryan Bruce [guitar], Sean Rosario [guitar], Hans Hessburg [bass], and Kalen Anderson [drums]—sharpen their claws, teeth, and style on their second full-length album, Upright Animals [Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group].

“There’s obviously a media divide, there’s a class divide, and there’s a racial divide in this country,” observes Tony. “In many ways, we use our animal instincts to think when it’s convenient for us instead of our evolutionary abilities. Trying to keep up with all of the information these days is like drinking from a firehose. So, our animal tendencies still shine through. A lot of enlightenment still needs to happen before we can consider ourselves anything other than animals walking around on their hindlegs. That’s what the album is about.”

With animalistic energy, Dragged Under charged out of the gate in 2020 on their debut The World Is In Your Way. The album generated streams in the tens of millions and earned widespread critical acclaim. Beyond plugs from Loudwire, New Noise Magazine, and more, KERRANG! hailed it as “nine tracks of the edgiest, most in-your-face punk in recent memory – loaded with underdog appetite and energy,” and Alternative Press named it one of the “20 Debut Albums That Took Metalcore to the Next Level in 2020.” Along the way, they toured alongside everyone from The Used to Beartooth. During 2021, they recorded what would become Upright Animals with frequent collaborator Hiram Hernandez [Jared Dines, Craig Owens] in Los Angeles and Matt Good [Hollywood Undead, Asking Alexandria] in Phoenix.

“There was an element of thematic development,” Tony goes on. “The last record was a bunch of different phases of my life. I had 21 years to write it. I only had a year-and-a-half to write this one. It’s about a time, a place, events, and what I was a feeling in this window.”

Emotion shines through the single “Crooked Halos.” Acoustic guitar creaks beneath the verses before the refrain explodes with a scream amplified by distortion and swells of strings as he declares, “Our crooked halos aren’t fooling anyone.”

“It essentially says, ‘I’m an angel, but I’m wearing a mask so people won’t see the problems in my life’,” he reveals. “In public, everything seems fine; behind-the scenes it is a mess. It’s the tumultuous nature of being in a relationship especially in the age of social media. Lyrically, it was inspired by my friend Marco. He died a long time ago, but he was one of the main reasons I got into music. He referenced ‘Crooked Halos’ in a song, so I asked his brother for permission to expound on the concept. He allowed me to.”

Elsewhere, “All Of Us” finds unity in disarray. Co-written with Brandon Saller of Atreyu and Hell or Highwater, hyper-charged riffs crash into a chantable chorus before a pummeling bridge sealed with a searing solo.

“It’s a reminder we are all simultaneously experiencing a lot of these things,” he goes on. “We’re dealing with the same pandemic at the same time, and we’re trying to navigate and get to the other side without our lives falling apart. For a lot of people, that was the reality. They lost everything.”

“If you’re chasing a dream or pursuing a passion, you’ll get called ‘Immature’ and told to ‘Grow up’,” he explains. “If I would’ve ‘grown up,’ maybe my band wouldn’t be here. I might be in a career I can’t stand working for a company I hate. You’ll get a lot of pressure to stick to a traditional roadmap: go to school, meet a girl, hold a job, get married, have kids, buy a house, and die. For us, it’s not going to do it.”

“My dad is in his mid-sixties, and the last two years were hard on him,” Tony elaborates. “It was really lonely, especially with COVID happening. He was battling depression, and we would have these long and hard phone calls about life. Luckily, he found help, and he feels great. Even though he drove us on the last tour, he didn’t know the song was about him! I wrote it from my experience with him, but a lot of people can relate to it.”

In the end, Dragged Under evolve by eliciting emotion from the purest place possible. The complete track listing of Upright Animals features, “Upright Animals,” “All Of Us,” “Never Enough,” “Crooked Halos,” “Long Live The King,” “Suffer,” “See You Alive,” “Weather,” “No Place Like Home,” “Words For Hire,” “Brainwash Broadcast feat. Spencer Chamberlain,” and “This Is The End.”

“When you listen to this, I hope you experience moments of tension, anxiety, sadness, and happiness,” he leaves off. “At the same time, it’s nostalgic for us. We want it to remind you of being young and discovering the bands that changed your life. If you think, ‘This reminds me of what I grew up on,’ I’d be very satisfied. We spent a lot of time and energy on this. I’m excited about the future.”

Award winning South African blues rock guitarist DAN PATLANSKY releases his new single Bad Soul on Friday 18th March 2022. Watch the official music video for Bad Soul below.

Bad Soul is the second single taken from Dan’s latest studio album “Shelter Of Bones.” the album is available from https://danpatlansky.lnk.to/ShelterofBonesSo

“Some people are just born bad and can’t be changed,” says Dan about Bad Soul. “I grew up and got to know some people that seemed to just possess a bad streak in them, and no matter how hard people tried to steer them in a different direction, they would just end up being a bad ass in everything thing they did.”

Patlansky supports the single and album with a UK tour from March 31–April 12 with special guest Arielle. See the tour dates in the flyer below. Tickets available at www.thegigcartel.com/Artists-profiles/Dan-Patlansky.htm

Shelter of Bones was recorded over a three-year period from 2019-2021. “The pandemic allowed me to take my time, and really think about how I want the songs to come across,” reflects Patlansky.

“In many ways I tried to keep the sound from past albums that I’ve become known for in my arrangements and song writing, but definitely took some different turns along the way. I’ve always seen a record as a time capsule of where an artist is in a particular time of their lives.”

Shelter of Bones covers a three- year period of many ups and downs. As a result, the South African guitarist believes the process has been a very interesting journey.

“Shelter of Bones is an accurate representation of who I am currently as an artist, which is a modern twist on what I love most, the Blues.”

MÅNEGARM Release Second Single + Music Video ‘En snara av guld’

Swedish folk metal mainstays MÅNEGARM have made a name for themselves in the international scene by releasing nine full-length records since their debut, Nordstjärnans tidsålder, back in 1998. Now, the Scandinavian crew takes another stroll through ancient sagas and myths of long forgotten times on the successor to 2019’s chart-topping Fornaldarsagor with their upcoming 10th studio album,  Ynglingaättens Öde (EN: the fate of the Ynglinga kin), out April 15, 2022 via Napalm Records.

At the head of the scene for more than 25 years and after smashing the staggering first single off the new full-length, entitled “Ulvhjärtat” (EN: the Wolfheart), the Swedish wolf pack unveils the second single, “En snara av guld” (EN: a golden noose), a flattering, ballad-like yet powerful mid-tempo song. It starts off with a capturing, dusky intro that leads into a catchy, heavy tune with growls that alternate with clean singing and gentle vocal harmonies presented by Lea Grawsiö Lindström – the daughter of MÅNEGARM vocalist Erik Grawsiö. The track is accompanied by a captivating cinematic official music video that leads into the band’s Nordic world of myths, telling the dark and vicious story of the golden noose.

MÅNEGARM on “En snara av guld”:
“‘En snara av guld’ is our newest single from the upcoming album and is one of the songs that we are most satisfied with. It’s a grand, epic song that revolves around one simple but powerful melody; a melody that tells this gruesome story in a captivating way: the story about the Finnish daughter Skjalv who gets abducted and is forced to marry King Agne – the same man that killed her father. She finally gets her revenge on Agne and when the new day dawns, the King gets his final rest high up in the trees.”

MÅNEGARM on the video:
“‘En snara av guld’ is the most gripping video we have ever made and we are so amazingly proud of how both the song and video came out. And a father’s heart couldn’t pound any stronger than today since the song features Erik’s youngest daughter, Lea, on vocals, and his other daughter, Tuva, plays Skjalv in the video.

Enjoy Brothers & Sisters!”

On Ynglingaättens Öde, MÅNEGARM incorporates Pagan inspired lyricism based on the old Norse poem Ynglingatal, that describes the fate of an old Norse dynasty – the house of Ynglinga. Ynglingaättens Öde offers balanced variety and atmosphere, breathing new life into ancient myths. Vocalist Erik Grawsiö tells the stories of kings, warriors and battles with clear vocals and contrasts them with grim growls and fierce battle cries!

Pre-order your copy of Ynglingaättens Öde NOW

With the uncompromising ten-minute opus “Freyrs blod”,MÅNEGARM lure the listener deep into ancient times. The track spans a wide arc between black metal elements that flow into more melodic parts and even acoustic interludes with guitar and violin tunes, just to turn once again into thunderous soundscapes. With this majestic opener, MÅNEGARMshowcase why they are regarded as Swedish genre pioneers with good reason, as they inimitably manage to combine vicious black metal foundations with classic folk and Viking elements. On the way there are acoustic introductions echoing, as on “Stridsgalten”, acting as preludes for intense metal songs with harsh riffs and engaging drums, underlined by anthemic melodies. “Stridsgalten” marks another highlight of the album, as it features outstanding contributions from prominent guests Jonne Järvelä (Korpiklaani), Robse Dahn (Equilibrium)and Pär Hulkoff (Raubtier/Hulkoff). All renowned in the folk and Pagan metal scenes, together they proudly present a stomping track telling the story of a bloody battle to honor Odin. “Vitta vettr” features black metal trademarks like blast beats and freezing riffs, creating a darker atmosphere. This gloomy moment lines up with mighty tracks like hammering “Auns söner” and heroic “Adils Fall”.The album closes with the acoustic “Hågkomst av ett liv”, conjuring an atmosphere of sitting at a warm, sparkling fire while listening to tales of olden days, formed by the mesmerizing vocal duet of vocalists Ellinor Videfors and Grawsiö. With Ynglingaättens Öde, MÅNEGARM underline their standing as spearheads of the world of Viking metal once more and keep Pagan traditions alive, even after 25 years of existence.

MÅNEGARM on the album:
“Thousands of working hours turned into this beast – our new album, Ynglingaättens Öde. We truly believe this album is our strongest and most complete album to date and despite the dark days of the pandemic, we have created a concept album that is 100% MÅNEGARM and packed with strong melodies, riffs and powerful choruses. This time, we explore an old Swedish Norse dynasty of rulers where we detail their deeds, their rule and above all – their deaths.

So come join us on this journey and meet the fate of the Yngliga kin!”

Ynglingaättens Öde tracklisting:
1. Freyrs blod
2. Ulvhjärtat
3. Adils fall
4. En snara av guld
5. Stridsgalten
6. Auns söner
7. Vitta vettr
8. Hågkomst av ett liv
