Former Quiet Riot Bassist CHUCK WRIGHT Calls For The End Of War in Powerful New Single, Helps Raise Money for Victims In Ukraine

CHUCK WRIGHT, the world-renowned Bassist who has worked along-side everyone from Alice Cooper to Slash to Greg Allman and toured the globe as a long-time member of metal giants Quiet Riot, today announced the release of his second single “Throwin’ Stones”, a fierce and passionate call for the end of armed conflict, a call which couldn’t be more perfectly timed for today’s world.

Released as part of Wright’s debut solo album “Chuck Wright’s Sheltering Sky”, the song was co-written with guitarist Lanny Cordola (ex House of Lords, who has gained worldwide fame for efforts with war-torn children in Afghanistan), and vocalist Joe Retta (Sweet/ TSO).

The track explodes with a heavy Funk groove that emphasizes Wright’s powerhouse playing, utilizing a stunning variety of techniques from slap-bass to finger-tapping, and drives home the song’s simple but profound message, “war is not the truth, it’s a lie”.

Stream the song at https://orcd.co/throwin_stones

Accompanying the single is a powerful video featuring timely footage of world-changing events in today’s war zones.

Of course, Wright isn’t the first rocker to pen an anti-war song. However, he is one of the few to do more than just talk the talk – earlier this week Wright organized a spectacular star-studded show at his on-going event, Ultimate Jam Night, at Hollywood’s legendary Whisky A Go-Go with guests including Cherie Currie of The Runaways, Dug Pinnick of King’s X, The Bulletboys, Marc Bonilla, Steelheart, Living Colours Corey Clover, Bad Wolves members, and other acclaimed performers. The show also included Ukrainian musicians, and as honorary guests, a Ukrainian family that just fled the horrors of Bucha, Ukraine as war refugees.  Proceeds from the event were donated to the World Central Kitchen who work on the frontlines providing food to the victims of the war in Ukraine and its millions of refugees.

The full album from “Chuck Wright’s Sheltering Sky” will be officially released on May 20, 2022. It features over 30 guest performers including members of Mr. Big, Skid Row, Tesla, Dream Theater, Jane’s Addiction, Asia, Jefferson Starship, acclaimed solo artists Allen Hinds, Toshi Yanagi, Whitney Tai and many others. It covers a wide range of genres, from Jazz Fusion, Prog, Funk, to in-your-face Hard Rock, and will be widely available on CD and all digital platforms on the Cleopatra Records label.

June 24, 2022 will see new melodic power metal force, FALLEN SANCTUARY, featuring Georg Neuhauser (Serenity) and Temperance guitarist Marco Pastorino, release their first full-length album, entitled Terranova, through AFM Records. After the previously-released, first epic single “Broken Dreams”, today the four-piece has shared a music video for the album title track of their upcoming debut!

Says Marco about the song: “Terranova was one of the first tracks we wrote for our debut album and we immediately agreed – this is melodic metal like we love it!”

Vocalist Georg adds: “I really love Terranova – fast, melodic and with dramatic lyrics about drug addiction. It simply reminds me of one of my favourite albums: “Silence” by Sonata Arctica.”

Watch the new FALLEN SANCTUARY video for the album title track, “Terranova”, here:

Neuhauser and Pastorino became friends in 2018 during a joint tour and soon realised that they pretty much share musical idols and tastes. Neuhauser reveals: “Marco and I often got talking at night on the tour bus to the next show with Serenity and Temperance. It was amazing that we have so many favourite bands in common. And since we also get along really well on a personal level and live only a four-hour drive apart, we came up with the idea of releasing an album together some day.”

FALLEN SANCTUARY also features permanent drummer Alfonso Mocerino and bassist Gabriele Gozzi, who will complement the band live on stage. Terranova was produced by Neuhauser / Pastorino, and was recorded at the Groove Factory Udine, Italy and Rec.-It Telfs in Austria, and was mixed and mastered by Jan Vacik at the Dreamsound Studios in Munich, Germany. Slated for a release on June 24, 2022, the album pre-sale is available at THIS LOCATION!

HEAD FIRST Present Official Music Video for Second Single ‘Sand Castles’

HEAD FIRST present us today the official video for “Sand Castles”, the second single from the debut album of the Finnish funk/metal band around Waltari mastermind Kärtsy Hatakka (Metalville Records – release 27 May).

Here are the comments of the band members about the new song:

Kärtsy
“Sand Castles is more direction to a ”normal” Head First song. It’s a story about a guy who is living in his dreams only, and doesn’t see the reality around him. That is a very thin line to lean on, in this demanding life. Some people say, that it’s cool to act like a star and live in pure narsism, but in the long scale it doesn’t bring any further, and you will just find yourself in the middle of the sea of crisis.”

Jaani
“SAND CASTLES is the song we put together in the 90s. There are no recordings left so we had to memorize and luckily we were able to find all the parts from our heads.

The riff in Sand Castles once again is a couch jamming product. Something that comes into your head when you are concentrating on TV or something else very important. In the riff, we definitely wanted Sami to play the ride bell/middle and the ghost beats, which is essential in this song and it really gets us going.

Back then the song was slower and maybe a bit heavier, but we “modernized” it to meet the standards of 2020s. :-)”

Jespers
“Sand Castles is my own favourites on the album, it has everything. Fast enough, tight riffs ja great melodies. The chorus of the song is very Kärtsy, and only in the good way!”

Once there was Waltari… and HEAD FIRST!!!

There’s no denying the status of Finnish crossover monster Waltari as the first “metal-like” band export from their home country back in the early 1990s.

But only a few can still remember that their singer Kärtsy Hatakka already had another band back then under the name HEAD FIRST… the only real funk metal band from Finland! And now this very band is releasing their debut… after 30 years of waiting!

Kärtsy initially played in two bands at the same time, Waltari and Head First. The latter achieved considerable success in the Helsinki area with their danceable mix of funk, metal and prog rock. In some of the first Waltari songs, the funky influence of Head First was also clearly audible.

“Head First was hip, all the big Helsinki live venues loved the band, and bigger and bigger crowds came,” Kärtsy remembers.

But then Waltari surprisingly got an international record deal in 1991, and the rest is history. And so Head First was put on hold indefinitely. But now, after 30 years, they are back!

Already a few years ago, the band took the first steps towards re-activation by playing some shows in Helsinki and the surrounding area. So the wish to finally release a first album became the declared goal of Head First.

Based on the biggest live killers, the existing song material was adapted to today’s sound expectations. In addition, some brand new songs were created. In addition to the three original members Kärtsy, Jaani Marttila and Sami Timonen, a new bass player, Jesper Anastasiadis, was brought into the band.

Head First means old-school funk metal with a fresh edge of groovy beats and infectious energy!

HEAD FIRST Line Up:
Kärtsy Hatakka: Vocals
Jaani Marttila: Guitars
Jesper Anastasiadis: Bass and Backing Vocals
Sami Timonen: Drums

THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT Unleash New Single ‘Three-Headed Death Machine’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 29, 2022

Dutch avant-garde million sellers THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT are releasing ‘Three-Headed Death Machine‘, a brand new single in celebration of their 20 year anniversary.

THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT comment: “Three-Headed Death Machine” is the ultimate gift to the world to celebrate 20 years of The Monolith Deathcult. Extremely catchy riffs (again), layered with irresistible orchestrations (again) and solos while the tambourine and cowbell fight for priority in this massively produced (again) eargasm. Superior intellectual double-layered lyrics are downgraded in such a genius way that even the most average heavy metal fan is able to pump its fist in the air while shouting “DEATH CULT”!

To commemorate the event, The band made a commemorative t-shirt in the shape of a death metal t-shirt.

Earlier this year, the band released ‘V4 – Vernedering’, a boxset containing V1 – Versvs, V2 – Vergelding and V3 – Vernedering. The infamous triptych is shipped as 3 CD BOX with 36 page booklet, and includes additional bonus tracks.
