MARILLION Unleash Video for ‘A Friend For The Earth’

MARILLION have unleashed a video for ‘A Friend For The Earth’,  coinciding with Earth Day 2022 and following the  release of their chart-topping album ‘An Hour Before  It’s Dark’.

Don’t wanna say goodbye
But I’m watching the time
The flowers and the bees
Vanishing beneath our feet”

WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR ‘A FRIEND OF THE EARTH’ HERE:

If you dive into Marillion’s extensive catalogue, you will find several songs that take on  the topic of environment and humanity’s impact on it. The 1989 album and title track  ‘Seasons End’ is only one of many examples.

Now, over 30 years later, in times of ‘Fridays For Future’, an ongoing pandemic and a  general big uncertainty about the future of humanity, the topic does not lack relevance – quite the opposite!

Coinciding with Earth Day 2022, Marillion yesterday released a new video accompanying what  is chapter two and three of ‘Reprogram The Gene’, a song released on their new album  ‘An Hour Before It’s Dark’ on March 4th, 2022.

While the song and video deliver a clear message on the one hand, Marillion also leave  room for everyone to have their own flavour of what the words of this song are about.

Steve Hogarth about ‘A Friend Of The Earth’:
“We are not of the heavens. We are of the earth. And whether you like it or not, when it  dies, it’s gonna take you with it. The planet is screaming in our faces like an approaching  express train. Some of us can hear it but don’t listen. Some of us can’t even hear it. But  getting out of its way is our only hope.
We’re at a tipping point right now.

Not to act, is suicide.”

Too self-righteous? How about: Turn the thermostat down and eat more veg.”

With ‘An Hour Before It’s Dark’”, Marillion released one of their most upbeat albums of  their career while, at the same time, they once again did not shy away from  uncomfortable topics, reflecting on their own behaviour, and putting their finger in the  wounds of time.

The album topped the album charts worldwide, breaking the band’s chart records in  several countries. In Germany and the Netherlands ‘An Hour Before It’s Dark’ went  straight to #2 in the official album charts, making it the highest chart entry for the band in  both countries to date, while in the UK the band also celebrated #2 in the official charts,  their best chart position in over 30 years!

Marillion will embark on a major European and UK tour in autumn 2022, preceded by  several Marillion weekends until summer 2022.

IMONOLITH Release Single And Video ‘The Lesson’ + Announce New Album

All-star modern metal band IMONOLITH have released new single / video ‘The Lesson’, taken from new album Progressions, set for release on 20th May.

Drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen commented: “’The Lesson’ is the 2nd song Jon Howard and I wrote for the Progressions album. Jon came up with the intro of the song and sent it to me. From the first moment I heard the intro, I was inspired and knew this was going to be a progression in song writing for Imonolith. The end result turned out amazing, hence the reason it’s going to be our main single and video release for the album. ‘The Lesson’ is a deep song musically and lyrically. It’s heavy in parts, and entrancing in others. It’s a journey to listen to. The lyrics are about a personal battle with empathy and being overly empathetic to a fault. We’re stoked on how this song turned out and can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”

Stream / purchase here: https://linktr.ee/imonolith

The single follows ‘The Reign’ featuring Jens Kidman, which also appears on Progressions. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/tCrNeoLo6lo

Now, with Imonolith digging their claws firmly into 2022, the band returns with their follow-up record, Progressions. Progressions started out as a five-song EP, and then grew into a full album’s worth of material. The name ‘Progressions’ fits in with the band’s sound, having changed and developed in many ways. To show how the band have progressed from their early demo days in 2015 up to their current sound in 2022, the record features brand new tracks as well as demos of their older material. Becoming more versatile and, at times, more progressive in playing style, song writing and musical direction, Progressions covers the musical history of who Imonolith were, up to who they’ve become today.

“We’ve all had professional careers and played in different groups for a long time,” says Ryan. “We’re drawing on all of that experience to do something new. When you think of a monolith, you think of a grand and solid structure. It resembles what we want the band to be, while making it an intriguing experience.”

Imonolith are pleased to announce new members . They replace Brian Waddell and Scott Whalen who have both decided to step down from touring.

Featuring drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project), vocalist Jon Howard (Threat Signal), guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) & Oswin Wong (Threat Signal) and Conan Freeman (Punchdrunk) on bass, Imonolith are a collective of heavy-hitting players at the top of their game. Their 2020 debut album State of Being features special guest appearances from Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and famed Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström and is made up of 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks that centre around the theme of how people deal with various stages of life.

With extensive touring commencing January 2023, you’ll be hearing a lot more from this ferocious new act very soon.

UNDEATH Release Music Video for ‘Defiled Again’, New Album Out Now

Rochester, NY death metal act UNDEATH have released their highly anticipated new album, It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave, via Prosthetic Records. Alongside the release of their sophomore full-length, UNDEATH have also shared a new music video for Defiled Again. Directed by Errick Easterday, the visual sees UNDEATH performing in trippy multicolor lighting interspersed with grainy black and white imagery alluding to their penchant for horror.

It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave is available to order here.

It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave is available to stream via
Apple Music | TIDAL | Deezer | Bandcamp | Spotify

On the album release, the band comments: “We’re so excited that It’s Time… is finally out in the world. It’s been a long road getting this album ready for y’all and we couldn’t be more stoked that it’s officially available everywhere.

“We just wanted to take a second to sincerely thank everyone who’s supported Undeath up to this point, whether you’ve been with us since day one (you know who you are!) or you’re just joining us – it all means the world. We wouldn’t be able to do what we get to do without the help, hard work and enthusiasm of so many different people, and it’s something we’re endlessly grateful for!

“Okay, now that all the sappy stuff is out of the way, come see us on the road with Dying Fetus starting next week! If you live in the US there’s a good chance that this tour is coming through somewhere within driving distance for you, so come out to a show and party with us. That’s an order.”

It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave, shows the reconfigured quintet—Kyle Beam (guitars), Alexander Jones (vocals), Tommy Wall (bass), Jared Welch (guitars) and Matt Browning (drums)—have retained their mind-infecting sonic savagery but weren’t satisfied in their pursuit to improve it through wicked (yet studied) reformulation. It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave isn’t just an early contender for death metal album of 2022—it’s destined to be a modern-day classic.

UNDEATH traveled to Philadelphia to record It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave with Scoops Dardaris at Headroom Studios in March-April 2021. Dardaris rough-mixed on the fly during the recording sessions, and then required two more weeks after to finalize the mix. Not ones to sacrifice a working team, they brought on Arthur Rizk (Creeping Death, Enforced) to master.

In four years, UNDEATH have done the unlikely. They have two celebrated, oft-streamed demos, a coveted Decibel flexi disc, two brutish videos (Acidic Twilight Visions,Entranced by the Pendulum), completed a riotous 30-date American tour mid-pandemic with The Black Dahlia Murder, and released a fan-obsessed full-length in Lesions of a Different Kind. To stop now would be contrary to UNDEATH’s diehard, work-hardened ethos. Indeed, they’re forging ahead. It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave undoubtedly levels up UNDEATH. The New Yorkers are the vanguard of the next wave of hard-hearted American death metal. Join the undead army now…march or die completely!

Praise for It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave:

“A timely and top-class (un)demise for all concerned.” – Blabbermouth

“It’s 36 minutes of pure obliteration.” – A&P Reacts

GUINEAPIG Release Brand New Lyric Video ‘Taxidermia’

Goregrind unit GUINEAPIG are gearing up for the release of the band’s highly anticipated new album, which will be coming out on June 10th via Spikerot Records.

Eight long years after the debut “Bacteria”, the Italian trio delivers with “Parasite” an album that will redefine the very concept of Goregrind. The material is absolutely cutting-edge and forward-thinking without ever losing sight of the roots, the production is crisp and blistering, the songwriting fluctuates between abysmal tunings, Death Metal mid-tempos and ripping breakdowns. In support of the new album, GUINEAPIG have shared a lyric video for the track “Taxidermia”.

Bassist and vocalist Alessio comments:

Taxidermia takes its name from the brilliantly bizarre Hungarian film of the same name. It’s a straightforward fast track with typical Guineapig’s breakdowns and mid-tempo parts but including new fresh elements which are present in our new album. The lyrics are about a human being performing taxidermy on himself, very fascinating practice in some ways, yet quite extreme and impossible to fulfill. With such sick lyrics to complete it, this song will be one of our audience’s live favorites for sure.

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Marco Mastrobuono at Kick Recording Studio – Rome (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance, Shores Of Null) in September/October 2021. Stunning artwork by Fabio Timpanaro.

“Parasite” drops June 10th on Spikerot Records and is available for pre-order HERE

Tracklist:

  1. Ocular Tormentor
  2. Mermaid In A Manhole
  3. City Of The Monkey God
  4. Taxidermia
  5. Urethra Candiru Terror
  6. Parasitic Protozoa
  7. Supreme Body Bizarre
  8. Saprophyte
  9. Liquefied
  10. Pandemic
  11. Zatypota
  12. Deformed Doppelganger
  13. Ocular Tormentor

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the signing of an absolutely monstrous new hard rock group, ICONIC. Featuring Michael Sweet (guitars), Joel Hoekstra (guitars), Marco Mendoza (bass), Tommy Aldridge (drums), and Nathan James (vocals), Iconic is primed to set the hard rock world on fire with the release of their debut album “Second Skin” on June 17, 2022. Today, the band has released the first single and video from the album, ‘Nowhere To Run’.

“This was a very refreshing and unique experience. Musically, very different from Stryper, which is of course very different from all the other projects I am involved with. This is more of a throwback to the past and it felt good to do that. It reminded me of how great the music of the past really is,” says Michael Sweet. “Once the songs were arranged, I booked a studio and recorded my guitar parts, which is always the funnest part for me. I’m not sure why, but I guess because I’m a guitar player first and foremost and it’s just one of the most creative and fun parts of the process for me. To be able to get the right tone and play the right parts and hear it all come together….it’s very rewarding,” he adds.

“The riffs were all very comfortable to me because I wrote most of them.
