LORD OF THE LOST Reveal New Cover of Lady Gaga’s ‘Judas’

German genre-fusing visionaries LORD OF THE LOST return in 2022 with a new EP, The Heartbeat of The Devil! Out May 6, 2022 via Napalm Records, the EP not only features two versions of its title track, which was first released on the band’s most recent full-length – the conceptual masterpiece JUDAS – but three cover songs encompassing the band’s free-thinking attitude. 

Today, the band has released the first cover track from the new EP – a cover of “Judas” by Lady Gaga – an artist that has inspired frontman Chris Harms for years. LORD OF THE LOST managed to make this song their own while keeping the main structures of the song alive, adding retro synthesizer sounds, double bass passages and a combination of growling screams and clear vocals.

Chris Harms on “Judas”:

“Lady Gaga has caused me many sleepless nights in the past. That’s meant differently than that may sound at first – her songs stay in my head and stick to my heart, as do few other artists. There they remain, for very long. That’s why it is very exciting to me to interpret such a song vocally myself, always knowing that in today’s world, it’s not impossible for the result to be heard by the original artist herself. Sounds a lot like fanboy action – it actually is.”

The new EP begins with the single version of “The Heartbeat of The Devil”, and closes with a striking piano version of the same song. Rounding out the center of the EP are three cover versions of iconic songs: “Children Of The Damned” by Iron Maiden, who LORD OF THE LOST will support on 18 dates of the band’s European tour after the release of the EP, “Judas” by Lady Gaga and “Wig In A Box” from famed rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. These iconic songs are reinvented and transformed by the dark atmosphere of LORD OF THE LOST’s trademark sound.

The Heartbeat Of The Devil follows both JUDAS (2021, #2 GER) and Thornstar (2018, #6 GER), which repeatedly solidified LORD OF THE LOST as visionaries unafraid to express themselves outside of the norm. Their nonconformism is undoubtedly a key point of their attraction and distinction, and their sophisticated sonic universe sets them apart from all other bands in the genre — manifesting as controversial in the best possible sense.

“With the pandemic and the unplanned free time – you can spontaneously record three cover versions of songs that move you at the moment. But why these three songs? “Judas” by Lady Gaga should be self-explanatory due to the title overlap with our current album. “Children Of The Damned” is a nod to our summer tour hosts Iron Maiden, who booked us as a support band. And “Wig In A Box”… well, if you don’t know the movie musical ‘Hedwig And The Angry Inch’, you should definitely change that. We saw the movie one day and one of us yelled, ‘let’s cover that song!’ – and as it always is with us, every spontaneous idea is put into action. Or at least it’s tried.”

VĀMĀCĀRA Release ‘Alchemical Symbolism’ Video And Single

On 29 April, “Cosmic Fires: The Enlightenment Reversed”, the new album by the exceptional musical project VĀMĀCĀRA, will be released. The stylistic mix of black, doom and death metal, mixed with psychedelic and stoner rock and dressed in an oriental sound garment, quickly captivates the listener.

STONED JESUS Sign to Season of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of psychedelic rock trio STONED JESUS. Forged in Kyiv in 2009, this Ukrainian band submerges themselves in the world of doom, grunge and prog, while maintaining their own identity. Their upcoming album will be the fifth in line and the first to be released through Season Of Mist. 

Lead vocalist and guitarist Igor Sydorenko comments: “I’ve always been a huge fan of progressive music – progressive not in the number of notes played per second, but progressive in terms of songwriting, concept and attitude.

“And I rarely saw rock and metal labels encouraging this deeper approach, until I discovered Season Of Mist. This is the label that I can describe with one word: ‘eclectic.’ And this is the label that not only approves the idea of artistic freedom, but openly indulges in it! So we’re extremely happy that these exact people are going to help us share our creative vision with the whole world from now on.”

Formed by Igor Sydorenko in Kyiv in 2009, STONED JESUS quickly progressed beyond their tongue-in-cheek moniker. The Ukrainian trio’s second full length “Seven Thunders Road” converged doom, prog and grunge in their own recognizable way and the album’s centrepiece, 13-min long “I’m the Mountain”, boasts 15 million plays on YouTube.

STONED JESUS‘s next LP “The Harvest” sounded like a blend of MASTODON, PORCUPINE TREE and SOUNDGARDEN, and their charismatic live shows and relentless touring schedule helped to double and then triple their fanbase in mere months.

While being integral to the European psychedelic rock scene STONED JESUS helped popularize, creatively STONED JESUS never stopped pushing the envelope, taking influences for their newer material from such diverse acts like SWANS, THE CURE, KING CRIMSON and DEFTONES.

REBELLION PARTY is the brand new instrumental “concept album” by maestro Gabriele Bellini. Thought, created and realized in the early months of 2021 and released in early summer last year. Let’s get to know Gabriele Bellini better:
Teacher by vocation and guitar teacher for 35 years. Tireless didactic researcher for musical training courses and music therapy. As a musician he has published 24 albums, 11 of which as a soloist and 13 with various bands including Hyaena, Pulse-R, Jam Movie Project, Ritmenia Zoo and Dynamo. In addition to 28 albums made both as an artistic producer and as a collaborator and participant in various projects such as Rai Trade, Andrea “the hyena” Agresti and Compilation. Awards, recognition and a rich press review, confirm a certain type of work always well done and quality. Talent scout and always avid supporter as well as promoter of the underground made in Italy. In the summer of 2014 with Giacomo “Jac” Salani founds the new independent record label (no profit) QuaRock Records that now has 26 albums published.

Belgian extreme heavy metal frontrunners EVIL INVADERS drop another bomb by delivering epic anthem and third single “Die For Me” – the last harbinger of cutthroat energy released before the band unleashes their newest album, Shattering Reflection, this Friday!
