BLACK RIVER DELTA Sign with Despotz Records, New Album Coming Later This Year

Black River Delta, the blues rock quartet from Bollnäs, Sweden, have made a name for themselves since their inception with a raw and soulful sound deeply rooted in the Swedish forests of Hälsingland.

Raised among pine trees, gravel roads, and long winters, their music carries a unique blend of darkness, melancholy, and drive—where influences from blues legends meet modern rock. The band has previously released the acclaimed albums Devil on the Loose (2016), VOL II. (2018), and Shakin’ (2021), shaping their sound through everything from Robert Johnson and R.L. Burnside to contemporary acts like The Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr., and BRMC.

Rather than looking toward American landscapes, Black River Delta draw inspiration from what’s closest to them—the surrounding forests, the roads along the E4 highway, and the constant tension between wanting to leave and wanting to stay. Carl-Marcus Gidlöf of Despotz Records comments on the signing:

“Black River Delta have had a great journey to get here, and we believe that with our international network of PR agents and our strong physical and digital distribution network via Virgin/Universal, we will be able to take things to new heights.”

Later this year, the band will release their new album via Despotz Records. On the upcoming record, they return to their roots and further deepen their sound—where modern rock meets classic blues, filtered through a Nordic melancholy in which silence, darkness, and solitude hold just as much weight as the music itself. More information about the album will be announced soon. The band members conclude:

“We’re joining forces with Despotz Records and together we’re cooking some hot shit. It feels incredibly exciting and we believe this will be a long lasting friendship.”

TORCHIA Release New Music Video ‘Hellmouth’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 17, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: TORCHIA. Leave a comment

Following the ominous tension of their single “Nekromanteion”, Finnish extreme metal force Torchia unveils the official music video for their next single, “Hellmouth,” from their forthcoming album “They Are Born Under Rules of the Darkness,” due out on May 8th, 2026, from Rockshots Records.

Produced by Janne Saksa and mastered by Dan Swanö, the track strikes with surgical precision and unrelenting force, driving Torchia’s sound into even darker, more extreme territory without sacrificing its unmistakable melodic core. “Hellmouth” signals a pivotal turn in the album’s narrative and sonic arc, throwing open the gates to its infernal center with a sharper, more immediate, and hard‑hitting assault.

Musically, “Hellmouth” captures the band at their most dynamic. The verses lean into tight, groove-driven riffing with a raw, almost physical immediacy. At the same time, the chorus expands into a triumphant melodic surge, revealing a strong connection to classic heavy and power metal traditions. For the first time, Villemorte introduces a clean vocal hook, adding a new dimension to Torchia’s sonic identity while retaining its full force.

Lyrically, the track initiates a three-part descent into Hell. A fallen angel renounces its divine nature, tearing away its wings to step beyond the threshold of damnation. The Hellmouth stands as both a passage and a point of no return, setting the tone for the album’s unfolding journey through the underworld.

Positioned as the second track, “Hellmouth” stands as a defining moment within the record, bridging atmosphere and impact while reinforcing the band’s ability to merge memorable songwriting with controlled aggression and darker textures.

Spotify – https://lnk.to/HvB0FN

Hailing from Tampere, Finland, Torchia has carved a distinctive identity rooted in thrash-infused melodic death metal, progressively enriched with darker tonal layers, orchestral arrangements, and a strong narrative backbone. Across their work, the band has shaped a cursed fictional realm inhabited by old gods, forbidden rituals, and supernatural forces, now fully realized within the gothic horror framework of “They Are Born Under Rules of the Darkness“.

With “They Are Born Under Rules of the Darkness“, Torchia consolidate their artistic direction, expanding their sound toward a more shadowed and blackened dimension while preserving the melodic and guitar-driven foundations that define their identity.

Recommended for fans of Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, and Children of Bodom, Torchia’s new album “They Are Born Under Rules of the Darkness” will be available on May 8th, 2026, from Rockshots Records.

POST PULSE Release Final Single + Video ‘Incredible Creatures’ from Upcoming Album

Post Pulse, who will release their third album in May, have unveiled one more single from the upcoming record. ”Incredible Creatures”, the final single from the Lupaus album, presents the band at their very best: the track grooves heavily, sounds massive, and offers strong melodic hooks. The track is also accompanied by a music video.

“’Incredible Creatures’ is one of the highlights of the album for me. The song feels especially meaningful, partly because it was still very different just a couple of weeks before we entered the studio. Even though all the elements seemed to be in place during pre-production, the track always felt like it was missing something, and that missing piece was brought in by our bassist Sam Roon during our final rehearsals before the drum recordings. Our drummer Anttoni Välimaa quickly picked up the new patterns, and suddenly an old song felt fresh again. The final result was crowned during the vocal recordings, where Tapani brought entirely new shades to the performance, both in the aggressive and clean parts. This song felt like it knew what it wanted — it revealed itself to us little by little, and we simply followed where it led,” comments the band’s main songwriter and guitarist Antti Karhu.

Post Pulse vocalist Tapani Rantanen found inspiration for the lyrics in the way Antti described the song’s contrasting moods: “Antti told me about a great idea he had, combining beauty and danger within a single character. I really liked the concept, so writing the lyrics based on that idea came very naturally.”

Set for release on May 29, Lupaus is Post Pulse’s third full-length album. It continues the band’s evolution towards a more melodic, hook-driven, and expansive sound.

The album was recorded, mixed, and produced by Juhis Kauppinen, best known as the driving force behind the band Merta.

Founded in 2015, Post Pulse have previously released the debut album Halls of the Damned (2017) and Return to the Halls (2024).

Finnish metal legends AMORPHIS have shared the official video for The Lantern, a centerpiece of their critically discussed fifteenth studio album Borderland, out since September 2025 via RPM. Borderland marks a milestone in the band’s 35‑year evolution, blending melodic depth and dynamic storytelling with a refreshed creative spark borne from their first collaboration with producer Jacob Hansen.

Drawing its imagery from mythic currents and nocturnal wanderers, The Lantern captures the haunting journey along Tuonela’s black river.

“The atmosphere on The Lantern is dramatic and evocative,” says guitarist Esa Holopainen. “From sonic depth to live energy, you can hear the emotional arcs and see them on stage in every frame.” The live footage underscores that cinematic pulse, transforming raw performance into a visual odyssey.

Borderland has drawn attention from press worldwide for its melodic sensibilities and textural richness, with critics noting a potent blend of AMORPHIS’ trademark atmospherics and a renewed clarity in songwriting.

GOZU Release New Single ‘Corinthian Leatherface’ from Upcoming Album

“Corinthian Leatherface” is the latest single from Boston stoner/fuzz rock outfit GOZU. The track comes off their long-awaited new full-length, Gozu VI, set for release on May 15th through Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records.

Comments GOZU singer/guitarist Marc Gaffney, “We wanted something that molded our love for Queens, Queen, and Motown harmonies. Lyrically, I needed an outlet and this was an amazing vehicle to add NOS [Nitrous Oxide] to.”

Stream GOZU‘s “Corinthian Leatherface” HERE.

Watch GOZU‘s previously released video for “Banacek” HERE.

“We wanted something that really moved and hit a nerve,” says Gaffney on composing the band’s sixth studio album. “I was pretty roughed up emotionally while writing. I played guitar more in the past two years than ever before. I would work, go to the gym, come home, eat and then play guitar until I went to bed.”

The end result is eight action-packed tracks, produced and mixed by Benny Grotto at Boston’s Mad Oak Studios. Emotion is writ loud and large for the band that’s been praised for their “deep grooves, thick riff mechanics, soulful melodies,” and for creating a “musical stew that intoxicates the listener, sweeping them into another aural universe.”

Gaffney has spoken about the band’s, “maturity mixed with a childlike enthusiasm to play music,” and Gozu VI‘s songs are proof positive. “I think this is more of a soulful, straight forward, guitar-driven album. Lyrically, this took on a whole different feel, and it wrote itself.”

With Gozu VI, the lineup’s melding of intense, fuzzy ’70s-inspired riffs, rich, catchy, grunge-esque vocal melodies, and a touch of oldschool stoner psychedelia has reached a zenith. Categorize them how you will. “We don’t mind if people think we’re stoner, doom, heavy, easy listening with a touch of cayenne pepper. I feel we’re just a heavy soulful band,” Gaffney notes. “We play music that people can shake their ass to and lyrics that are honest and deal with human nature.”

Gozu VI will be released digitally. Find pre-orders at: blacklightmediarecords.com/gozu

In celebration of the release of Gozu VI, GOZU will join New York stoner/doom metallers Restless Spirit for a US co-headlining tour.
