SHINING BLACK – Ft. Mark Boals And Olaf Thorsen – Announce New Album “Postcards From The End Of The World”, First Single + Video Unveiled

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the second studio album from SHINING BLACK, “Postcards From The End Of The World” on March 18, 2022.

Shining Black is a melodic metal band featuring vocalist Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen, Ring Of Fire, Royal Hunt) and guitarist Olaf Thorsen (Labyrinth, Vision Divine). Their self-titled debut (2020) showcased cutting edge melodic metal songwriting techniques from Thorsen combined with the outstanding vocal abilities of Boals. Thorsen and Boals now present “Postcards From the End of the World”, their sophomore album, which again highlights the outstanding collaboration between the two musicians. This album takes up where the debut left off, comprising ten songs of modern power metal with the combination of Boals’ lung-busting vocals and Thorsen’s blistering guitar skills. Completing the lineup are Oleg Smirnoff on keyboards & piano, Nik Mazzucconi on bass, and Matt Peruzzi on drums. The first single and video from the album, for the title track, is out today.

Pre-order/save “Postcards From The End Of The World” HERE: https://orcd.co/postcards

The roots of Thorsen and Boal’s artistic collaboration goes back to 2014, when the Italian power/progressive metal band Labyrinth was faced with the dilemma of moving forward without their long-time singer Roberto Tiranti. The band invited Boals to join them and began work on new songs which would have been released on the band’s next album. However, Mark’s busy schedule at the time did not fit in with the recording plans Labyrinth had at the time and ultimately their work together stalled. (Tiranti would eventually rejoin Labyrinth and release a new record, “Architecture of a God”.) Despite not getting to work together in Labyrinth, Mark and Olaf remained in touch and when the occasion arose, by suggestion from Frontiers, the two artists took the opportunity to work together and thus the Shining Black project was born.

Shining Black’s second album will once again delight power metal fans with its accomplished musicianship and empowering vocals… Euro-metal fans get excited!

RECKLESS LOVE Share Album Title Track ‘Turborider’

Following a 4-year hiatus and just recently receiving gold awards for their first three albums in Finland, sleaze rockers RECKLESS LOVE return with their fifth studio album, Turborider, on February 25, 2022 through AFM Records. To shorten your wait for their first album in more than 5 years, today the kings of glam rock have shared a brand new single, the album title track!

On their forthcoming output, RECKLESS LOVE now (re-)visit e.g. the 80s game worlds. At the center of their sound are 80s themes and the modern dark-speaking world of synth wave, while the band is diving deep into the game world and movie moods of the genre and era. Turborider is high-energy, synth wave-infused rock with an undeniable 80’s touch, and will most likely make you forget the world around you with its infectious hooks!

“Turborider is the title track for our fifth studio album, not only because it defines the change the band has gone through sonically, but also because lyrically it paints a story about rebirth.“ Vocalist Olli reveals. “That’s exactly what Reckless Love had to go through in order to make it back at all. The couple of years away from touring and the 6 years away from releasing an album have not been gentle and easy for us.“

Listen to Turborider HERE!

“The challenge we faced is reflected on the relentless uptempo beat that drives the song forward, and with the heavy guitars they create a monstrous feel that inspired the lyric that feature a fictional character, called Turborider.“ Olli continues. “The character acts as a simple metaphor for the bands music and expression. Gone to hell and back, just to find out that hell has become a part of her, the Turborider sets out to conquer. ”More electric than before, a rotten hybrid to the core”. Eventhough, Turborider is definitively on the heavier side of Reckless Love, this tune doesn’t fail to deliver catchy melodies. The song was written very quickly with our producer Joonas ”Synthinen” Parkkonen. The vision was clear as day from the get-go. We set out to write an opening track for the album and all we knew was that we wanted it to be like a kick in the stomach, or a puch in the jaw – or better yet, both. When Pepe ripped into the opening riff and Joonas followed with his synths, we had the first demo of the song done in approximately 15-20min. When Joonas was saving the file on his laptop, he asked me if I had already come up with a title for the song. I didn’t even think as the sound seemed to come out of my mouth by itself – Turborider.“

RECKLESS LOVE’s upcoming Turborider will be released on February 25, 2022 via AFM Records – and besides Digipak and colored Vinyl, the band is offering something very special to their fans: The limited box set will include the Digipak CD, an autograph card and a handheld videogame! Turborider was produced by Joonas Parkkonen (Apocalyptica, Lost Society) and mastered by Svante Forsbäck (Rammstein, Lordi, Volbeat), the pre-sale is now available at THIS LOCATION!

Turborider Tracklist:

  1. Turborider
  2. Eyes Of A Maniac
  3. Outrun
  4. Kids Of The Arcade
  5. Bark At The Moon
  6. Prelude (Flight Of The Cobra)
  7. Like A Cobra
  8. For The Love Of Good Times
  9. ’89 Sparkle
  10. Future Lover Boy
  11. Prodigal Sons

The band says: “We are really glad to have Alessia’s voice on our new record, after sharing the stage several times with Temperance… and it was even more amazing to discover how her voice perfectly matched with the song, beyond every expectation and even better than we imagined. Finnish SERPICO Drop Power Ballad ‘Dark Energy’

Finnish sleazy rockers SERPICO are unveiling the power ballad “Dark Energy”, which will be featured on their forthcoming album “The Chosen Four” due out summer 2022 via Rockshots Records.

The album is produced by platinum-selling Finnish record producer Anssi Kippo (Children of Bodom, Hanna Pakarinen, Teräsbetoni) who had this to add about the track.

“From the very first demo version, this song stood out by having something magical! Usually, with a song like this, you’d stack a huge wall of guitars, record dozens of backing vocals and at least as many keyboards. On Dark Energy, we took a completely opposite approach and ended up having a wall of just two rhythm guitars, only one keyboard and a single vocal track. With a song of this magnitude, any additional tracks would simply have decreased its magic.”

The music video for “Dark Energy” was directed by Ville Juurikkala and brings the band into a whole new light. Enthusiasm for Serpico‘s music paved the way for the collaboration with Juurikkala who is best known for his works with Slash, Steven Tyler, HIM, Michael Monroe, 69 Eyes, Apocalyptica, Nightwish and many more.

“Serpico has some great authentic and rough rock’n’roll both as human beings and in music. I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to work with them!” adds Juurikkala.

SHOVEL Sign To Argonauta Records, Unleash First Track From Upcoming Album

Berlin-based SHOVEL have inked a worldwide record deal with Argonauta Records, home for some of the heaviest underground bands in the realms of doom, sludge, stoner, post-metal and beyond! Appropriately, the Italian label is proud to welcome the four-piece to their eclectic artist roster and for a 2022-album release.

SHOVEL connects the immediacy of heavy, intense riffs, existential screams and the elusiveness of otherworldly sounds and atmospheres. Emerging from the mud of sludge, doom and post-metal, the band’s music travels through the openness and freedom of psychedelic textures to end up crawling in black metal claustrophobia and despair with an unconventional and distinct sound.

Says the band: “We are really thrilled to release our debut album with Gero and Argonauta Records, a label that is home to some legendary bands of our scene and at the same time is supporting young and motivated bands to grow and evolve!”

Ever since their first gig, SHOVEL created an immediate connection with the vibrant scene of Berlin, Germany, and following their colossal demo in 2019, they managed to establish themselves within the heavy music underground. 2022 will see SHOVEL release their much acclaimed debut album, recorded live on tape in Big Snuff Studio (Berlin) by producer and engineer Richard Behrens (Kadavar, Samsara Blues Experiment, Elder). The album was mastered in The Atomic Garden Studio (California, USA) by Grammy nominated producer Jack Shirley (Amenra, Deafheaven, Oathbreaker).

But give ear, as to shorten your wait for SHOVEL’s full-length, today the band unleashed a first track taken from their upcoming album! Dive into their raw and bleak soundscapes, and listen to “VII-Havoc” here:

The band comments:
“The song is the second part of an opus titled ”Cold”, which will be fully released on the upcoming album ”Shades Of Pale”. It’s an epic and dark piece with a variety of shades about loneliness and coldness, both internal and external. With this song, the band takes a deep bow towards the art of Tove Jansson.”
