ALLEGAEON Debut New Video ‘Of Beasts and Worms’

Ahead of their anticipated album DAMNUM (out February 25th), ALLEGAEON have delivered the next video from the album, the visually haunting and captivating “Of Beasts And Worms.” Accompanying the track, the band shares details behind the video, track listing and additional tour dates. Album and merch pre-orders are available now at: metalblade.com/allegaeon.

“This is the place where I rest my bones and the river that cleanses me runs alone!” cries frontman Riley McShane on the track. “This song is about finding a place of inner quiet, a safe haven to explore your thoughts and escape from the anxieties of your life,” the vocalist explains. “This lyrical intention is paired with a depiction of disparity and tiredness with the world around you and the stressors that contribute to the deafening silence of the mundane. In the music video, we showcase a more physical – and graphic – display of this thought process where the escape from the daily grind is manifested into a willing self-sacrifice. Though a dramatization, this concept of sacrifice to find your own personal peace can be applied to something less tangible and played an important role in my own process while writing the lyrics for DAMNUM. Thank you for watching and listening, we hope you enjoy it.“

ALLEGAEON recently released the first video behind the album, “Into Embers,” and have built themselves a unique place in the musical landscape, forcing both technicality and melody to the forefront as they create tumultuous and riveting death metal. With DAMNUM, their sixth full-length, they push everything further into the extreme, and in the process deliver the definitive ALLEGAEON record.

MIDNIGHT Reveal Details for New Album “Let There Be Witchery”, Launch First Single ‘Szex Witchery’

On March 4th, MIDNIGHT will release their fifth full-length, Let There Be Witchery, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the album, the new single, “Szex Witchery”, can be heard at: metalblade.com/midnight – where Let There Be Witchery can also be pre-ordered in various formats.

Filthy, belligerent and obnoxious, Midnight make music to start fights to. Since 2003, one-man-band Athenar has been churning out an ungodly racket, dropping countless demos, splits and EPs – and in 2022 he returns, delivering a catchy mixture of black metal, speed metal, and dirty punk rock. “I always want it to be loud and nasty,” he asserts. “That kinda thing never gets old with me. How funny will that look to see me at age 77 – if I reach that point – sitting on the porch blasting Hellhammer?“

The title is a combination of the song titles “Let There Be Sodomy” and “Szex Witchery”, Athenar wanting to maintain the tradition of using six syllables. Lyrically, the record is “unfiltered savage animalisticness“, and the deeper the listener delves, the dirtier they get, which is just the way it should be. When it came to tracking the record, Athenar returned to Mercenary Studios in Cleveland, OH and producer Noah Buchanan, who makes it very easy for him to cut loose and make noise, choosing to once again record all the instruments himself despite having a live band that could step in and help out. “It’s still just me and my science project gone awry. I realize I’m musically handicapped, but there’s a charm to it.“

Mulling over the question as to why anyone should actually give a shit about Midnight, he once again comes up with a typically Athenar answer: “If I were to give actual good advice, I would say stay clear of anything to do with Midnight. But I’m not a rational thinker, so as usual, I will give terrible advice and say punish your earholes and play this album as loud as your stereo goes, go out to a gig and mingle with others that you don’t know, lick their faces and rub upon each other’s sweaty torsos to the hellish, neanderthalish noise of a band called Midnight! You gotta release your demons somehow! That’s why you should give a shit, or two.“

Let There Be Witchery track-listing
01. Telepathic Nightmare
02. Frothing Foulness
03. In Sinful Secrecy
04. Nocturnal Molestation
05. More Torment
06. Let There Be Sodomy
07. Devil Virgin
08. Snake Obsession
09. Villainy Wretched Villainy

CASSIUS KING Release Lyric Video for New Single ‘Bad Man Down’

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: CASSIUS KING. Leave a comment

Last summer CASSIUS KING – (Jason McMaster vocals, Dan Lorenzo guitars, Ron Lipnicki drums and Jimmy Schulman bass) – released their debut album “Field Trip” on California’s Nomad Eel Records. A mere 6 months later and Cassius King grace us with a brand new single and lyric video for easily their catchiest song yet; ‘Bad Man Down’. Guitarist Dan Lorenzo co-wrote the single with Jason McMaster.

“I remember how long it took me to write the music to the first two Hades albums in the 80s. I literally had no music left after each album. Songwriting started to get much easier for me when I started Non-Fiction in the summer of ’89, but it’s never been this easy.” Lorenzo said. “I’m not doing this for the money, but it’s as fun or more fun than it ever was honestly.”

When asked what the lyrics to Bad Man Down mean, McMaster said,
“This takes me to a place where we don’t have much control. We can get cozy and feel good, because we did it all ‘safe’, and politically correct, etc….but, you cannot stop the bus just because you pull the chain. I am not a young man anymore, I am not trying to be, so these things we do to try and live longer, healthy diet, etc..they work, but still…the bus won’t stop. Bullets fly by that were not meant for you….your doctor misses things in your visits, next thing you know…. This lyric is about who’s ’round the corner. I have tried make friends with him, and the black cat crossing my path.”
Cassius King plan to release 10 new songs ( plus you can always expect a fun cover song or two) later this year Nomad Eel in America-MDD Records Europe. The world is in a very strangle place right now, but it’s hard to keep these bad men down. Jay Bones from Space Based made the video.

The story behind the track…
Baldr, the brightest of all and the son of Odin met his untimely demise when the blind God Höd, deceived by the trickster Loki, killed him by hitting him with a mistletoe tipped arrow, the only thing that could hurt the invincible God. Upon word of Baldr’s death, everyone in the 9 Realms wept, all except one. Loki disguised as the giantess Thökk refused to weep the tears that would revive Baldr. HAMMERFALL Joined by King Diamond on Powerful New Track ‘Venerate Me’

Today, Swedish Saviours of Heavy Metal HAMMERFALL have released a second single, “Venerate Me”, featuring a special guest appearance by none other than the legendary King Diamond, alongside a new visualizer! The track is cut from their twelfth studio album, Hammer of Dawn, set for release on February 25, 2022 via Napalm Records.

“Venerate Me” continues to clearly show that HAMMERFALL is in top shape by delivering what Rock It! Magazine calls, “their strongest songs in years”. Expectedly, singer Joacim Cans doesn’t fail to leave a mark with his gripping vibrato and ever-powerful vocal projection that – in combination with strong guitar work and on-point drumming – make “Venerate Me” an outstanding yet trademark HAMMERFALL hymn!

Founding member and guitarist Oscar Dronjak on “Venerate Me”:
“The second single is here, and I’m very, very proud of it! The music was written during the darkest, most uninspiring days of the pandemic and still came out as one of the strongest on the whole album. Joacim’s fantastic lyric idea makes this track really stand out, and the special guest appearance towards the end really pushes it over the edge!”

Singer Joacim Cans adds:
“The song is over loaded with enchanting melodies and a very catchy chorus. Lyrically one of my greatest efforts dealing with the fact that we die twice!
First when we take our last breath and second when someone says your name for the last time. Say my name and I will never die!”

“Venerate Me” marks a special anniversary – Oscar Dronjak’s 50th birthday! HAMMERFALL’s guitarist has dedicated most of his 50 years to the metal scene, starting as a teenage guitarist in death metal bands and emerging as one of the most known guitarists in the world of heavy metal today with his trademark sound and legendary hammer guitar. After the title track, “Hammer of Dawn”, “Venerate Me” is the second single taken from the new album.

As one of the main forces in heavy metal, HAMMERFALL have dominated not only the Swedish album charts, but album charts across Europe throughout their extensive career, while earning gold status thrice. HAMMERFALL’s previous album, Dominion, charted at #4 in Germany, #2 in Switzerland as well as #2 in Sweden. Faced with the daunting task of following up to Dominion, an album that fans and critics hailed as one of the bands strongest releases, HAMMERFALL collectively met the challenge head-on and have delivered what many early listeners are predicting as the best metal album of 2022 and a high point of the band’s catalogue.

DEE SNIDER Salutes LESLIE WEST

Provogue Records / Mascot Label Group present ‘Theme For An Imaginary Western’ in front of March 25th release of LEGACY: A TRIBUTE TO LESLIE WEST, featuring performances from TWISTED SISTER’s Dee Snider on vocals, Eddie Ojeda on guitar, Mike Portnoy on drums and Rudy Sarzo on bass.

Snider was a dear friend of Leslie West for decades, and shares, “Leslie was a hero, friend, amazing guy and a guitar god.  I always wanted to sing this song. It’s my favorite Leslie West guitar solo. It resonates with me, and speaks to me on so many levels. I’m honored to have gotten a chance to do it on this record.”

Watch the video below.

When Leslie West passed away in December of 2020, he left behind a towering legacy of epic recordings that few rock guitarists can match. But there was more to West than great songs (although, to be sure, he created a ton of them); there was his brilliant, idiosyncratic sound, a gargantuan earth-mover that razed arenas and stadiums across the globe. More than just paralyzing tone, though, he also had a touch nobody could beat. Stinging, swooning and sensual melodies leapt from his fingertips – with a deft flick of his wrist, he sounded like a Delta bluesman had picked up a violin. These elements and more helped to make West one of the most significant, influential and irreplaceable guitarists of the rock era.

Friends, and many whom were influenced by the loved West, have contributed to this special release.  Amongst those who performed are Dee Snider and Twisted Sister bandmate Eddie Ojeda, Robby Krieger, Slash, Zakk Wylde, Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy and Tal Bachman, Jethro Tull’s Martin Barre, Joe Lynn Turner, Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr, The Cars’ Elliot Easton, George Lynch, Marty Friedman, Steve Morse, Dirty Honey’s Mark Labelle, Mike Portnoy, and West’s band members Bobby Rondinelli and Rev Jones. The release will be available on LP and CD, digitally, and as a web shop exclusive limited LP variation manufactured with digital. The pre-order is live here: www.smarturl.it/LeslieWestMLG.

“We were so blessed to be working with home-run hitters on each song,” says Bob Ringe, “but each one underscores the fact that Leslie is the true MVP. This record really shows that his work stands the test of time. When I listen to the album, it makes me look up to the sky, and I can just see that big mountain of a man, Leslie West, with a smile on his face going, ‘This makes me feel good.’”

For her part, Jenni West sums the album up thusly: “Nobody in this world has ever made me feel loved as much as Leslie, and I feel so honored and grateful that I could give him this gift.” She laughs. “He would often say, ‘If it doesn’t make my balls rumble, it’s not right.’ And I think there’s some balls-rumbling tones on this record! When you’re listening to it, you might even think it’s Leslie playing – and that’s a good thing. He really believed that adage of imitation being the sincerest form of flattery.  Even when some of the players do their own twists on the music, they’re still doing it in a way that’s authentic and respectful, and Leslie would have appreciated that.”
