Finland’s AMOTH featuring Pekka Montin of Ensiferum on vocals are sharing their next single and title track from their forthcoming album “The Hour Of The Wolf” due out on January 28, 2022.

“This is a very very personal song lyrically. There was a time when I couldn’t even listen to the song without getting emotional. I think many people can appreciate the lyrics and reflect them to their own life. Musically there’s a lot going on. Lots of cool melodies and riffs and A LOT of solos. Many parts in this song, including the solos, were played and recorded at the hour of the wolf.
”The hour of the wolf is the hour between night and dawn. The hour when most people die, when sleep is deepest, when nightmares are most real. It is the hour when the sleepless are haunted by their deepest fears, when ghosts and demons are most powerful.” adds Amoth guitarist and main songwriter Tomi Ihanamäki.

SPOTIFY: https://spoti.fi/3EX4y1L

Amoth is a melodic progressive heavy metal band from Helsinki, Finland. Their third studio album “The Hour Of The Wolf” is a huge leap forward compared to their previous recordings “Revenge” (2016), “Crossing Over” (2011), “Wounded Faith (EP) (2008).
“This is by far our best album yet! Superior performances from all of the musicians. Much better production and songwriting. It’s not a fast-food album. Some of the songs are quite complex so it takes probably more than one listen to really get into!” comments Amoth guitarist and main songwriter Tomi Ihanamäki.

Amoth’s roots are strongly founded on 80’s heavy metal, but branch out in different directions with elements from progressive rock, thrash, and even jazz brought to the table.

The new album features Pekka Montin of Ensiferum once again as the lead vocalist and for the first time, there are also keyboards on an Amoth recording. Fans can expect insane vocals and virtuoso-like playing from all members of the band. The nine songs are very diverse, taking sudden twists and turns into unexplored territory. Amoth even offers up two Steve Vai / Joe Satriani-style instrumentals on this new full-length with tracks “Wind Serenade Part I” and “Wind Serenade Part II”.

Amoth‘s new album “The Hour of The Wolf” is recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, King Diamond, Testament, Megadeth, Joe Satriani.

WILDERUN Release Music Video for ‘Exhaler’, New Album Out Now

Today, Boston-based Progressive Metal outfit WILDERUN have released their fourth studio full-length, ‘Epigone’, via Century Media. To celebrate the new album, the band has dropped a one-take-lyric video for the track “Exhaler”, which was filmed by their vocalist + guitarist Evan Berry.

Speaking on the video for “Exhaler”, Evan comments: “‘Exhaler’ feels like a dream that precedes the core of ‘Epigone’, and like much of our previous album, muses on better times long gone.  There is almost a feeling of resentment towards past joys and prior clarity, as they seem to just become a dark mirror through which the current state of existence is poorly reflected.  Musically, this song stands out as very organic compared to much of the rest of the album, keeping to acoustic instruments and orchestrations, as opposed to some of the synthetic and darker textures we experiment with on the other tracks.  Hopefully this reflects those feelings of rose-colored nostalgia, verses the conflicted and cold reality of the present.

I wanted the video to match that feeling of organic, earthly clarity, which is why I avoided any effects or editing of any sort, and the lyrics are written entirely with broken sticks found on that plot of land.  The track also holds a more consistent tone and energy than some of our other more frenetic and dynamic songs, so the one-shot approach felt very appropriate.”

About Wilderun’s ‘Epigone’:

On Epigone , Boston-bred aural imaginauts WILDERUN take a deeper and darker step beyond their expansive, prog-leaning metal scores that so skillfully came together on 2019’s Veil of Imagination. The result is a record that is at once grandiose, complex, sophisticated, and unexpectedly human. “This is certainly a “meta” record for me,” states guitarist and vocalist Evan Berry. “It’s the record that has the most to do with the artistic process.” Indeed, the nine-track-long offering: beginning with the haunting acoustic prelude, “Exhaler” and ending with a twenty-minute, four-part epic composition, “Distraction I-IV”, Epigone is nothing short of a journey into expression and ambition. It has all the earmarks that have made WILDERUN a revelation unto themselves.

“This record has a different kind of inner turmoil than Veil,” says bassist and composer Dan Muller. “So much of that album was focused on the past and reminiscing on the progression from childhood to adulthood, and had a brighter, more flowery texture to it. This one is darker, and to me feels more introspective.” Admittedly, the universal pause and the frustration that came with the onset of a global pandemic of 2020 weighed heavily on the writing. “It was a frustrating time,” says Dan. “Things were starting to move in a direction that we had wanted them to for a while. We had signed to Century Media and were playing bigger shows like the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise. Then, suddenly, it felt like everything was ripped away from us. For me, that made it the hardest record we’ve ever had to write.”

Berry describes the arrangement process for Epigone as “solitary”, largely due to the Covid-restricted universe the band found itself in. Ideas were shuttled back and forth between members, and the band frustratingly never had the opportunity to meet as a whole before tracking commenced in early 2021.  And with traveling being too risky at the time, Wayne had to do all of his recording and orchestrating out of his home studio in California, while the rest of the band tracked in Syracuse, NY. In spite of that isolation, tracks like the driving “Passenger” speak volumes of WILDERUN’s increasingly canny sonic reach as soaring, cinematic orchestrations flirt with Berry’s death metalized inclinations. According to Berry, even WILDERUN’s flawlessly integrated orchestrations were pushed in new directions. Guitarist and composer Wayne Ingram (who has worked for noted film composer Hans Zimmer’s Bleeding Fingers Company) focused on innovative and challenging compositions while Muller pushed his synth work to create a sense of atmosphere the band’s prior work only hinted at. The album’s mix by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Arch Enemy) sets the album’s standard to masterpiece proportions.

“There’s always a deep appreciation for the vibe and the atmosphere of folk and the heaviness of metal,” says Dan, “I think for us it comes down to this organic, esoteric atmosphere that incorporates a lot of different things.” That aesthetic is most pronounced when it comes to some of the album’s actual instrumentation. “This is probably the biggest number of folk instruments we’ve ever had on a record,” notes Dan.  “Sometimes it’s prominent. Sometimes it’s layered. There’s fewer keys and more acoustic passages. It’s a little more earthy and a little less theater.”

When it comes to scoring soundtracks for the theater of the mind, WILDERUN isn’t merely pushing boundaries, they’re writing sublime symphonies and setting the standard in the process. “At its core, WILDERUN is escapist, transformative,” says Dan. “Our criteria is very simple: As a listener, does it put me in a place that’s better than where I am now? Even though the music and lyrics are very introspective, this could be anyone’s story.”

SABATON Unleash New Single ‘Soldier Of Heaven’

Between the several battlegrounds of WWI, there was no scene as hostile as the feared alpine front that involved a series of battles at the border between Austria-Hungary and Italy. High above in the alps, men would fight in the most extreme conditions to protect the borders. Today, these fights are infamously known as the so-called “White War”, where many soldiers froze to death or were buried by dangerous avalanches. Their dead bodies remain under the snow until today.

Today, Swedish metal war chroniclers SABATON open the history books again to present their new single “Soldier Of Heaven“, giving that overlooked chapter of WWI a voice, a tune and an impressive music video featuring both breathtaking special effects and the fatal beauty of this battlefield.

Stream the song: https://music.sabaton.net/SoldierOfHeaven

Bassist Pär Sundström states about the song:
“We already released the Christmas Truce and here comes another song which shows the diversity of the new album. In the early listening sessions of the new album this one was noted among most people as a top song and we know that this will be a powerful sing-a-long anthem on future concerts. So study the lyrics, get your ass to a show and make sure you kill corona in the process!”

Following the unique signature style of SABATON, “Soldier Of Heaven” once again is a catchy headbang anthem that persistently sticks into your head. The song is now available to stream on all digital music platforms.

“Soldier Of Heaven” foreshadows the tenth masterpiece of SABATON, “The War To End All Wars”, that will be released on March 4th, 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records. Once again, SABATON will dive deep into the atrocities, miracles and happenings around WWI and take the listener to an emotional and exciting ride of 11 tracks.

SABATON is a five-piece heavy metal band from Falun, Sweden. Since the band’s formation in 1999, SABATON has achieved quadruple Platinum sales and performed colossal concerts in over fifty countries.
The band’s ninth studio album, “The Great War”, released on July 19, 2019, is a musically rich concept album capturing the sinister atmosphere of World War I – thus continuing the band’s trademark style of telling unforgettable stories from merciless battlefields all over the planet.
Sabaton, signed to the world’s biggest heavy metal label, Nuclear Blast Records, played “The Great Tour” at major European festivals, and throughout North America, and Eastern Europe in support of The Great War.
SABATON has put the “COVID downtime” to good use, writing, recording, and releasing a variety of stand-alone singles and music videos.  The band played its first post-pandemic date on July 9, performing in front of 40,000 fans when they headlined the Exit Festival in Serbia.
As you might guess… There’s no end in sight for this unstoppable war machine anytime soon!

UPRISING! Records continue expanding its family and is very proud to announce the signing of the Danish folk metal band VANSIND. The seven-piece group from Slagelse is already making some ripples in the domestic scene with merely two singles and one EP released in the last few months and it’s now time to take the next step and bring them to the international scene with a full-length studio album.

”After the completion of ’Den Farefulde Tour’ in the autumn of 2021, Vansind is now ready for the next voyage”, the band says.”We are therefore happy to announce, that we have signed an agreement with UPRISING! Records for the release of our debut full-length album, which we are currently working on and expect to record during 2022. Target’s position as a forerunner in the Danish metal community, including folk metal, makes us believe that this is the next logical step that can bring Vansind further out to all our danish and foreign listeners. We are certain that this cooperation with UPRISING! Records will be beneficial for us both, and we are eager to see what we can achieve together.”

Vansind was formed in the summer of 2019 as a folk-inspired metal band. The band is based in Slagelse, Denmark, though the members are from all over the country. Just as the members’ geographical difference their musical background is also vastly different, they share their love for the music and a wish to add something special to the Danish folk scene. With their feet planted firmly in the Danish soil the band wishes to make the soundtrack for battle, chain dance and raised horns with melodies inspired by folk music that meets solid metal, rumbling growls and clean female singing. The lyrical themes are inspired from the darker side of Nordic mythology and Scandinavian history.

Debuting in 2020 with the single ’Valborgsnat’ (Walpurgis’ Night) and the three-song ep ’MXIII’ in 2021, Vansind is ready to play the songs to the wider international public. Bring your mead and maidens and join us for an energetic folk metal night. Where the glimmer of the eye meets the glimpse of the sword you’ll find Vansind. And if you enter the dance, maybe a glimpse of Valhal.
