Spikerot Records‘ ‘First-Time-On-Vinyl’ series continues and next in line will be a true gem of Death/Grind: ‘Only Tools And Corpses’ by British gentlemen GOREROTTED. Recorded something like 20 years ago and originally released on CD by Metal Blade Records in 2003, this record contains some of the most brutal sounds you could want, combining nasty riffs and ridiculously fast drumming with guttural grunts and coarse shrieks, for a relentless and ruthless assault from start to finish, all seasoned with horror/gore references and sick humor.

Frantic, full of energy and very much of its time” says Goreskin, then adds “It’s idiot proof. If you like Death Metal, Horror movies and beer it’s well worth a punt!”

This special release will be available in two different color variants, housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve, also including detailed track by track liner notes by Goreskin and a alcohol-drenched history piece by Fluffy Offalstench, definitely a must have for every fan of the band.

The reissue of “Only Tools And Corpses” will be coming out on March 11th and will be available in the following editions: – 100x LP “GORE RED” (Solid Red w/ Black Splatter) – Hand-numbered, SPIKEROT EXCLUSIVE
– 400x LP “ROTTED BLACK” (Black)
– T-Shirt /Longsleeve

Karisma Records have released a stunning new version of “Silent Night” by Oslo’s Progressive Pop/Rockers OAK.  The single presents an entirely new arrangement of the Christmas classic, with piano taking the lead in the delicate instrumentation, which, when paired with its haunting vocals, produces a completely original  version of the seasonal favourite.

Originally formed as a folk-rock duo, OAK’s lineup now features Simen Valldal Johannessen on vocals, piano, keys and lyrics, Sigbjørn Reiakvam on bass, acoustic / electric guitars, banjo, keys and programming, and Øystein Sootholtet on Drums, percussion, programming and keys.  They are joined on “Silent Night” by  Stephan Hvinden and Ole Michael Bjørndal on guitars.

“Silent Night” was recorded at the Ljugekroken Studio by Øystein and Sigbjørn, mixed by Sigbjørn, and mastered by Jacob Holm Lupo.

With cover artwork by Deformat and photo by Anne Marie Forker “Silent Night”,  can  be streamed or downloaded  from various services at: https://link.karismarecords.no/Oak_SilentNight

OAK’s members all come from diverse musical backgrounds, giving the band the considerable advantage of being able to draw on skills that range from classical piano to electronica, prog and hard rock, smattered with references to the alternative scene as well as progressive rock.   The band’s meticulously crafted sound , with its  use of electronics and low bass frequencies, presents the listener with music  that is neither wholly progressive pop, nor progressive rock, but is, rather,  a happy amalgam of both.

A video of OAK playing the title track from their 2018 album “False Memory Archive”  live at the Night of Prog Festival can be seen at https://youtu.be/F5_R6eV2jmA

Following the release of their Christmas album, A Pirate Stole My Christmas, your favorite shanty pirates YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS offer another surprise from their treasury in the form of a music video for “Ring The Bells”! With this captivating single and album opener of A Pirate Stole My Christmas, the boisterous pack once more reveal a frostbitten visual, sending their fans and listeners off into a pirate-y jolly Christmas season!

YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS about the music video for “Ring The Bells”:
“’Ring The Bells’ is our final single release from A Pirate Stole my Christmas. For this video production, we were running desperately low on funds and could not afford to hire proper lighting for shooting outdoors in the Swedish mountains. Luckily our manager at Napalm Records had some connections with a budget production company called Raiffeisen Adult Entertainment. This particular company specializes in close intimate lighting and special effects and were said to be experts at making wood look good on camera. In the end it didn’t turn out quite the way we expected, but the statistic shows that the average viewer only watches the first 25 seconds of a video, so we think we are good.”

´Tis the jolliest of seasons! Swedish sea dogs YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS have come a’rowing through rough seas and salty winds to steal Christmas in the most swashbuckling of ways. Wrapped in the swag of pirate folk rock, the newly interpreted, grim covers of beloved Christmas classics on A Pirate Stole My Christmas draw the listener into a dark underworld of blood and bones! YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS put their shanty and pirate folk-infused spin on Christmas tunes like “Twelve Days Of Christmas” and the captivating album opener “Ring The Bells”. The well-known classic “Oh Christmas Tree” gets a new coat of paint when YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS re-word it to “O Cannonball” – most definitely making Christmas Eve a special occasion for the most beautiful time of the year.

YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS add:
“If given enough time, every artist will eventually lose their last ounce of self-respect, and release a Christmas album. YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS are no strangers to self-loathing commercial stunts, and with our new album – A Pirate Stole my Christmas, we aim to officially join the ranks of Christmas legends such as Maria Carey and Bing Crosby. Our album is compiled of 11 classic carols defiled into an unrecognizable pulp of rum-drenched atonal pirate madness. If you didn’t hate Christmas before, this is certain to change your mind!”

German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION celebrate their 40th anniversary by setting the world ablaze with a new, hard-hitting grenade in the form of their new album, Diabolical, out April 8, 2022 via Napalm Records!

As one of the most legendary German thrash metal bands in existence, DESTRUCTION grace the wall of fame alongside giants like Kreator, Sodom and Tankard. On their 15th studio record, DESTRUCTION brings out heavy artillery full of honest and uncompromising thrash metal, catapulting you straight into the seventh heaven of metallic bliss and causing a massacre of razor-sharp sound no fan of the genre should miss! The title track “Diabolical” shows no mercy, showing us a glimpse of what DESTRUCTION have in store for their upcoming album Diabolical!

DESTRUCTION singer/bassist SCHMIER about the video:
“I love the title track of the new record, it represents the album, pure old school and in your face Thrash Metal! We wanted a video that shows our trademarks, so the MAD BUTCHER had to be there! It is only his second appearance in a DESTRUCTION video ever but his most remarkable one so far for sure!”

After the charging start of opener “Under The Spell”, DESTRUCTION shows no mercy on title track “Diabolical”, with raging drums, bloodthirsty riffs and hellish vocals that sink deep down into your bones. “No Faith In Humanity” relentlessly rages on with non-stop headbanging action, while DESTRUCTION continues to smash eardrums on “Hope Dies Last” – providing unbeatable brutality with unstoppable speed, destructive verses and screeching voices. “Tormented Soul”, on the other hand, is loaded with proper heavy metal and explosive drums. The grand finale of the 47-minute parade of devastation is provided by cover track “City Baby Attacked By Rats”, originally by GBH, guaranteeing whiplash by combining rough hardcore punk with brute thrash metal.

DESTRUCTION riffkiller FURIA about the new record:
“Diabolical is an album of extremes, everything is more brutal and more technical but at the same time more melodic and to the point. It’s a pure and devastating DESTRUCTION album with no gimmicks, full of power and adrenaline. I’m excited for what the future is bringing and can’t wait to play the new songs live!”

Diabolical will be available in various formats in different territories, including a digital album and CD (bundled with a t-shirt + an exclusive “Mad Butcher”-bust), 1LP gatefold editions in black, crystal clear and marbled yellow/red!
