THUNDER Announce New Album “Dopamine”, Out April 29th, First Single Unveiled

Icons of British hard rock, THUNDER, have announced a brand new album, ‘Dopamine’, out on 29th April 2022, as well as unveiling the first single lifted from it, ‘The Western Sky’, the new video is available to watch HERE.

‘Dopamine’ is Thunder’s first ever double-album, and consists of 16 tracks – something that is resonant with the album’s themes.

Guitarist, songwriter and Thunder co-founder Luke Morley says: “’We didn’t set out to make a double album but as the writing and recording process went on we wandered into some interesting areas and then it became a case of ‘can we afford to leave any of this off?’ In the end we did reduce it from 20 tunes to 16 but it wasn’t an easy choice.”
Satirical and urgent but never downcast, ‘Dopamine’ was inspired by the world’s mass retreat to social media during the pandemic lockdowns, endlessly hunting for the next hit of happy hormones.

“I read a fascinating article by an American psychologist,” says Luke, “who said that social media forces us to become dopamine addicts. We’re validated and liked on social media, which releases the dopamine – and so we get addicted to it. We take more and more selfies in the hope of more and more validation, and the album cover reflects this. People are surrounded by amazing things that they’re missing because they’re so self-obsessed. Of course, you’ll have to get your hands on the physical album to see all of the amazing things I’m referring to.”

The new single and first taste of the album, ‘The Western Sky’, shows that despite the rallying against instant gratification, sound-wise Thunder are as immediate as ever.

The razor-sharp, riff-driven track celebrates the band’s annual trans-American charity motorbike trip.

The new album comes at the perfect time for Thunder, whose line-up for the last quarter-century and more has been Luke and Danny Bowes (singer), plus Ben Matthews (guitar and keyboards), Chris Childs (bass) and Harry James (drums).

They’ve been riding a wave of success since their 2015 comeback album Wonder Days, releasing the acclaimed All The Right Noises last year, with Classic Rock speculating that it could be the band’s best album yet. The record went Top 3 in the UK Albums Chart; a quite incredible feat for a British hard rock band into their 4th decade. Globally, it was one of their most successful albums to date. Giving them their first top 10 in Germany and Switzerland; their highest chart entry in Japan, Belgium, and Austria; and for the first time they charted in markets including France and Spain.

And make no mistake – the last 30 years have been a rollercoaster ride. Thunder had a start in life like few other bands, delivering a killer debut LP with 1990’s Backstreet Symphony and scoring a US record deal with the help of a keen fan, Axl Rose of Guns N’Roses. Songs like ‘Dirty Love’ and ‘Low Life In High Places’ – according to the late radio legend Tommy Vance, “the greatest ever single released by a rock band” – have gone on to enter the British rock canon.

Despite these early triumphs, rewarded with gold awards and one of the most enduring fanbases on the planet, changes in musical fashions and two breakups made Thunder’s progress a rocky road indeed.

All that changed with the current sequence of albums that kicked off seven years ago with Wonder Days. Too vital to be simply labelled veterans, too varied in style to be just another classic rock band.

Thunder are at the very peak of their considerable form, still offering fans doses of ‘Dopamine’ after all these years.

The album will be available in CD and double LP vinyl, with exclusive lenticular cover versions available only from the Thunder online store.

Continuing to support last year’s Sensory Records release of their acclaimed fourth LP, Mountain Fever, Israeli progressive metal outfit SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE present an energetic live video of the album’s title track, premiered through New Noise Magazine.

SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE released Mountain Fever in May 2021, the album boasting ten new songs which continue to push the balance between pioneering experimentalism to their own take on modern pop culture and its manifestation in the Middle East. Revealing an album composed of African and Balkan brass sections, Arabic violins, and extended vocal techniques, the band explores radio friendly hooks that emerge out of heavy riffs and polychromatic arrangements. Mountain Fever has received international praise from fans and the media alike, with entries on many best-of 2021 lists and more.

Mountain Fever features guest contributions including drums from Matan Shmuely (Orphaned Land), bouzouki and lead guitars on “Mångata” by Idan Amsalem (Orphaned Land), and vocals on “Somewhere I Sadly Belong” by Melechesh Ashmedi (Melechesh) and Jackie Hole (The Super Things). The album was recorded in Golan Heights, Israel with David Castillo and sent to Fascination Street in Örebro, Sweden (Leprous, Katatonia, Opeth) where it was mixed by Jens Bogren and mastered by Tony Lindgren, then completed with artwork and layout by Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media.

Watch SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE’s live version of “Mountain Fever” first at New Noise Magazine RIGHT HERE.

SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE has supported the album with live excursions across parts of the Middle East and beyond as pandemic precautions will safely allow, and one of the highlights of these shows included a spot headlining the Israeli Metal Fest in October. The show was documented in its entirety and the band now presents a lively, multi-camera video of their performance of Mountain Fever’s epic title track at the concert.

Lead vocalist Davidavi Dolev states, “Hey World! We’re coming to get you! All of you! So what if we’re oceans apart? So what if the pandemic prevents us from touring? None it matters; if we can’t come to you in the flesh, we shall come to you through the ether of the world wide web! We are very excited to share with you a live version of the title song from our new album Mountain Fever. We’re working day and night to get to you; in the meantime, we wanted to share with you how our shows in Israel looks like. Come join us. We have Humus.”

Founding guitarist Tomer Pink says, “We’ve been busting our asses to bring you the closest experience of what our shows are all about. We miss our audience overseas so much, stay tuned, we have a feeling we shall meet again soon.”

Find Mountain Fever on CD and 2xLP cut at 45rpm HERE, the standard digital HERE, the Hi-Rez 24 Bit digital HERE, and through all digital streaming services.

Watch for additional videos from the Israeli Metal Fest set and other live footage to be posted over the months ahead. The band continues to book tour dates as well. In February, they’ve confirmed Analogue Sessions in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, in March a huge custom party The Big Submasq’s Carnival in Tel Aviv, in April a gig in Germany with more German dates posting shortly, in May they’ll headline the Old Tribe Desert Rock Festival in Israel’s Judea Desert, with more Spring dates abroad to be published soon.

LORDI Release Final, Digital Album of Spectacular, Fictional Back Catalogue “Lordiversity”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on February 18, 2022

November 26, 2021 seen Finnish monster rockers LORDI release seven ( repeat: Seven!) albums at one go. The band, who achieved their international breakthrough with their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest (“Hard Rock Hallelujah”) in 2006, is the first in music history to release a whopping seven studio albums in one lavish swoop, entitled “Lordiversity”. All of the seven records have been released as physical formats back in November via AFM Records, while the digital releases were made available at different, ensuing dates. Finally the entire, digital glory of “Lordiversity” is out now and available HERE!

But let’s go back to the monsters‘ latest, 2020- studio record, “Killection“, which is a compilation album that imagines that LORDI has existed since the early 70’s. It delivers all the hit singles from the different decades and as they would have sounded if LORDI had made music at that time. The accompanying, fictional back catalogue has been released in the form of “Lordiversity” – two years after its Best Of and simply from beyond time and space! Each album was recorded according to its era of origin using its various approaches and instruments in order to come as close as possible to the sound.

Watch a brand new video for the track ‘Demon Supreme’ – released just last week and taken from the fifth “Lordiversity” album “Spooky Sextravaganza” – here:

Mr. Lordi explains: “In the week of March 2020, after our tour had to be cancelled due to Corona, I thought that I must use the extra time that was available to me. It quickly became clear that the time was perfect to start planning another album, even though “Killection” wasn’t even three months old at the time. But then I realised that there couldn’t be anything more boring than making another regular LORDI album. I really enjoyed writing, recording and producing the different styles for “Killection”, but the idea of simply composing a second part of it also struck me as extremely boring. And since “Killection” is a fictional album based on a previously non-existent, fictional back catalogue of music, I had an idea: The only thing that could top “Killection” would be to record and publish the back catalogue.”

“Superflytrap”, “Abusement Park”, “Humanimals”, “Abracadaver”, “Spooky Sextravaganza”, “Skeletric Dinosaur” ( digitally released earlier this week ) and finally “The Masterbeast” –  the unique back catalogue of LORDI’s spectacular universe, is out now  – available as CD, Vinyl and on all Digital platforms at THIS LOCATION!

Modern metallers DAGOBA return with the fourth single from their upcoming album, By Night, entering the last round before the album’s long-awaited release tomorrow. The new single, “City Lights”, shines as a catchy hymn driven by shredding guitar riffs and rough vocal power – just one example that proves By Night is modern metal at its absolute finest!

DAGOBA deftly aces the balancing act between harsh breakdowns, dense walls of sound and grooving passages with ease. Even in its hardest passages, By Night never gets too overwhelming – one smashing track is followed by the next, moving breathlessly with ease. By Night is a beast of an album showcasing how far DAGOBA can take a multitude of influences and styles and combine them effortlessly.

DAGOBA on the creation process of By Night:
“We live in challenging times, and that’s not only because of the strength-sapping pandemic. Sometimes the world seems to be a dark place. We know it’s an ambitious project, but we really want our fans to feel good, and contribute to their happiness. Therefore, we deliver our blend of metal music. During the weeks and months in the lockdown period we had so much time to have a focus on the album production. We could look at every detail in each track, and after all By Night has become our most accomplished album so far. We are really happy with the new record and cannot wait to share it with our fans and the world.”

Today, February 17th sees the release of “Recollections Of The Insane“, the highly anticipated debut album by Belgium’s up and coming Deathrashers SCHIZOPHRENIA. Featuring nine blistering tracks spanning over 43 minutes, the band’s first full-length is a relentless and highly energetic cocktail, blending the finest ingredients from the worlds of Death Metal and Thrash. Morbid Angel, Demolition Hammer, Slayer, early Sepultura, Dissection, Death, At The Gates, Obituary, Bolt Thrower, Pestilence…if any of these bands already gets you going, then imagine the best mixture of all of them combined with SCHIZOPHRENIA’s unique and fresh interpretation of Extreme Metal! In support of their upcoming album, the four-piece from Antwerp has released a brand new video clip for the track “Divine Immolation”.

Just exclusively premiered via Metal Injection, you can now watch the video here:

Ricky Mandozzi (vocals & bass) comments:
“It’s finally time to release the opening track of the album with a brand new video and yes, that’s a real burning man! The song tells a story of someone setting himself on fire so we wanted to represent this in the best possible way. It’s been really exciting to work with real fire and a stuntman who helped us to achieve this strong visuals, I hope our fans will enjoy this burning hot video clip!”

Guitarist Romeo Promos Promopoulos on “Divine Immolation”:

“This is one of the first songs where we started to incorporate the melodic side of Schizophrenia. With voices we rather suppressed that side. On Recollections of the Insane we wrote songs with elements we truly crave inside of us, and can’t ignore any longer. This just happens to be the perfect blend between melody and heaviness. Divine Immolation starts off slow and epic, but then drags you down to the darkest pits of lunacy. Do not mistake this for a breather in the first seconds. You’ll be surprised!“

“Recollections Of The Insane” drops this Thursday as an independent, DIY-release by SCHIZOPHRENIA, offering the perfect reflection of a band that is not afraid to take the harsh route. Despite various offers from worldwide, renowned record labels, it seems to be the right way for SCHIZOPHRENIA at this current moment and therefore offers the opportunity to present the most authentic version of themselves.

Furthermore, the band has not only released a new music video, but also the matching playthrough videos. Get into the full SCHIZOPHRENIA madness and watch the playthroughs below!

“Recollections Of The Insane” was produced by Francesco Paoli of Fleshgod Apocalypse and mixed/mastered at Y-PRODUCTION by Yarne Heylen and is available to purchase at THIS LOCATION

Romeo Promos Promopoulos (Guitar):
“Divine immolation is a good blend between melody and heavy riffing, starting off slow and epic but then dragging you to the darkest depths of lunacy.”

Marty Van Kerckhoven (Guitar):
“The guitar playthrough of Divine Immolation – recorded at Project Zero Studio – offers a unique chance to directly get a closer look at the riffs and composition. It showcases a more intimate view of the identity of the song and the way the harmonies and solos are divided between Romeo and myself. In addition the playthrough shows how the diverse stylistic influences and different intricacies spread throughout the song. I was very pleased we decided to do a playthrough of Divine Immolation, since it’s definitely one of those songs that get me pumped up to play. I’ll always remember the melody of the chorus being stuck in my head for over a week after recording the playthrough.“

Lorenzo Vissol (Drums):
“Burning at 230 bpms, Divine Immolation is one of the fast tracks in the album. As such it allowed to integrate the technicity of Death Metal drumming to a rather Thrash Metal song. Opening up with a blast beat, it features lots of fast double bass and tricky fast rolls jumping from cymbals to toms and snare. The middle section however, leaves space for some air before bouncing back full force. When composing the drums my main focus was to serve the music and leave space for the vocal line without ever overshowing the other instruments! Hope everyone will enjoy the song as much as the song is fun to play.“

Tracklist:

  1. Divine Immolation
  2. Cranial Disintegration
  3. Sea of Sorrow
  4. Monolith
  5. Onwards to Fire
  6. Souls of Retribution
  7. Inside the Walls of Madness
  8. Fall of the Damned
  9. Stratified Realities

SCHIZOPHRENIA are:

Ricky Mandozzi: Bass & vocals
Romeo Promos Promopoulos: Lead & rhythm guitar
