On August 25th, 2017, French metal force DAGOBA will release its seventh studio album, “Black Nova”, as a cooperation of Jive/Epic for France and Century Media for the rest of the world.
Now, the band proudly presents the official video for the album’s first single “Inner Sun” via Metal Hammer Germany, here.
Formed in 1997 and inspired by 90’s American metal greats such as Pantera, Machine Head and Fear Factory, DAGOBA quickly expanded their furious sound with dark, symphonic and industrial elements culminating on what is to become their strongest album to date, “Black Nova”.
Shawter – singer, guitarist, composer and leader of DAGOBA – helmed the recordings of “Black Nova”, which took place at Eagle Black, his own studio in Marseille, whereas Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica, Heaven Shall Burn) took care of mix and mastering. “Black Nova” sounds massive with rich dynamics, towering riffs, vigorous shouts and infectious melodic choruses all over the place. The equally powerful artwork was created by Seth Siro Anton (Septic Flesh).

The creative output of French metal giants DAGOBA stands as a testament to the power found within their iconic combination of deadly riffs, mind-bending symphonic atmosphere and dark industrial electro grooves. With their latest work “Tales Of The Black Dawn” they’ve created another master piece, combining elements of black, death, and power metal.
“Tales Of The Black Dawn” is released on July 10th through earMUSIC.
With “Tales Of The Black Dawn”, DAGOBA created a worthy follow up to “Post Mortem Nihil Est” in between their extensive touring. And since a winning team should never be changed, the band worked together with Logan Mader (ex-Machine Head guitarist, worked as producer with Five Finger Death Punch, Soulfly, Gojira) once again.
“Tales Of The Black Dawn” starts off with the softer „Epilogue“, an intro that creates a dark, dramatic atmosphere from the first tune on, being the perfect stylistic device for what is about to come. Directly followed by “The Sunset Curse”, hitting it off with its hammering machine gun sound and the characteristic powerful shouting, the message becomes quiet clear. “Half Damn Life”, with its driving riff, will definitely get the festival crowd going in the mosh pits. The melodic breaks in “The Dawn” fit perfectly in the picture, creating an overall dynamic atmosphere.
It’s the sixth album, DAGOBA are about to release – and they’re definetely ready to raise their game once more. Their sound could only have been born and bred in the South of France. The revolutionary spirit of Marseille is infused in DAGOBA’s music and attitude with its stomach-punching rawness of true heavy metal and circle-pit inciting bottom end in the DAGOBA sound, all of it beautifully balanced by classical elements and the throb and grind of industrial.
