CHLOE TRUJILLO & RAV MEDIC Working on New Music

Golden Robot Records is proud to announce the signing of the interesting and eclectic pairing of CHLOE TRUJILLO & RAV MEDIC.

They are currently working hard in the studio on new music and are very excited to have teamed up with global powerhouse record label Golden Robot Records. Chloe has been forging her career as a solo artist and Mark Dalbeth was part of the highly respected Australian rock act Bellusira.

Born in Paris, France, Chloe Trujillo has immersed herself in the art/music world from a young age. Her music is infused with anything from rap, metal, gypsy & blues. She first got her visa through performing in NYC cabarets & musical theatre. From there, she was invited to LA by Gail Zappa to record the Frank Zappa cover ‘The Torture Never Stops’. Chloe is also wife of Robert Trujillo of Metallica/Suicidal Tendencies.

Mark, who is originally from New Zealand, made the move to Australia and started rock outfit Bellusira, who went on to release two notable albums and move to America briefly under management from Will Hunt (Evanescence). The band toured the USA a few times and had Koichi Fukuda from Static-X take over guitar duties. Once that project came to an end, Mark decided to stay in America and continue his musical pursuit.

Both parties met in early 2021 when asked to be a part of the Global Green Charity Event held at the Troubadour in LA. After connecting online and having a mutual respect for each other’s music, Trujillo and Mark suggested the idea of doing a collaboration. The track ‘Lightning Strikes Twice’ was the outstanding result.

The feedback from the single was strong and they both enjoyed working together so much, that they decided to continue to work together under the banner Chloe Trujillo & Rav Medic.

ANTHRAX Bassist FRANK BELLO Teams Up with JOEL MCIVER + RARE BIRD to Release Memoir + Announces Signed Hardcover Pre-Orders

Rare Bird is excited to announce the release of Frank Bello’s Fathers, Brothers, and Sons: Surviving Anguish, Abandonment, and Anthrax, coauthored with Joel McIver, including a foreword by Gene Simmons of KISS.

Frank Bello, bassist with the legendary New York thrash metal band Anthrax since 1984 – one of the “big four” of thrash metal – has sold over 10 million albums, travelled the globe more times than he cares to count and enthralled audiences from the world’s biggest stages. He and his bandmates have even been awarded keys to the Bronx in recognition of their status. His long-awaited memoir would be a gripping read even if its pages only contained stories about his life as a recording and touring musician. While those stories are indeed included—and will blow your mind—Bello also focuses on deeper subjects in Fathers, Brothers, and Sons. Once you’ve heard his life story, you’ll understand why.

Born into a family of five, Frank grew up in difficult circumstances. His father abandoned his wife and children, and Frank’s mother moved heaven and earth to keep them fed and educated. Left with no male role model, Frank found inspiration in heavy metal bass players, following their example and forging a career with Anthrax from his early teens—first as a roadie, and then as the group’s bass player. International stardom came Frank’s way by the mid-to-late 1980s, when he was still in his early twenties, but tragedy struck in 1996 when his brother Anthony was murdered in New York. Although the case went to trial, the suspected killer was released without charge after a witness, intimidated by violent elements, withdrew his testimony.

Two decades later, Frank is a father himself to a young son. Like many men who grew up without the guidance of a dad, he asks himself important questions about the meaning of fatherhood and how to do the job well. This is the wisdom which Fathers, Brothers, and Sons offers readers. Despite the emotive nature of these topics, Fathers, Brothers, and Sons is a funny, entertaining read. A man with a keen sense of humor and the perspective to know how surreal his story has been, Frank doesn’t preach or seek sympathy in his book. Instead, he simply passes on the wisdom gained from a lifetime of turbulence, paying tribute to his loved ones in a way that will resonate with us all.

Frank Bello is an American musician, most notable as bassist for the legendary thrash metal band Anthrax. On hiatus from Anthrax, he briefly performed with Helmet, but he has appeared on every Anthrax release since 1985. He lives in New York.

Joel McIver is the bestselling author of Justice for All: The Truth About Metallica, which has been translated into nine languages, and several other books. He has written for Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Metal Hammer, Classic Rock, and he is the occasional guest on BBC. Classic Rock magazine has called him “by some distance Britain’s most prolific hard rock/metal author.”

Fathers, Brothers, and Sons is scheduled for worldwide release in hardcover, e-book, and audiobook on November 2, 2021, will retail for US $28, and a percentage of sales will be donated to charities assisting abandoned families.

Signed hardcover pre-orders now at rarebirdlit.com

TESTAMENT, EXODUS + DEATH ANGEL Postpone ‘Bay Strikes Back Tour’ Until 2022

The North American leg of the Bay Strikes Back tour featuring TESTAMENT, EXODUS + DEATH ANGEL has been postponed until 2022.

“We were really on the fence with this decision,” says Testament guitarist Eric Peterson. “But seeing other bands make it through with a few mild cases and other bigger bands just cancelling their entire tours, we felt it is in our best interest to postpone these shows to ’22.”

Adds fellow guitarist Alex Skolnick, “It gives none of us any pleasure to be the bearers of bad news yet again, but here we are. Although Bay Strikes Back is a top tour package for theaters, the reality is this: It can’t afford to take the risks that top grossing larger venue tours have been taking. The type of disruptions Kiss and other large outdoor venue tours have experienced could cause our shows to be permanently cancelled – a lose/lose for everyone. The fact that a lower budget tour such as ours is limited to indoor venues with tight backstage space only adds to the risk. It should go without saying that calling off these dates was a ‘last resort’ decision, and everyone involved would much rather this weren’t the case. However, this is the new reality we’re all in. All we can do is hope for everyone’s understanding, which we ask for sincerely.”

The trio of bands will perform as scheduled at Sacramento’s Aftershock festival on Thursday, October 7, as well as the hometown show scheduled for November 27 at Fox Oakland.

We are saddened to announce that the Bay Strikes Back tour is being postponed, but the risk of cancelled shows due to positive tests leading to tour personnel being quarantined and isolated is just too great at this time,” says Exodus guitarist Gary Holt. “We want to feel safe, enjoy the tour and be able to hang out with our close friends. The silver lining in this is that Tom Hunting no longer needs chemo and will have more time to work his way back to doing a full tour. He will make his return behind the drums at Aftershock but a full tour requires more preparation, so that is the good part.”

Bay Strikes Back dates have been rebooked beginning in April and will include additional cities not originally scheduled for the tour.

“Usually when I’m asked to contribute a quote to an announcement it pertains to something I’m extremely excited about,” says Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda. “In this case I’m gutted… It pains me to announce that The Bay Strikes Back U.S. Tour is being postpone. No one was looking forward to this more than me. But, on the brighter side of things, the tour is in fact going to happen – just at a later time. And I can assure you that the already ravenous to play live members of Death Angel promise to provide a crushing set during a crushing tour. The Bay WILL Strike Back!”

Meanwhile, Bullet For My Valentine (the album) will now be released on November 5th 2021 via Spinefarm /Search & Destroy. The 2-week delay is due to covid related manufacturing issues.

Matt Tuck began writing the album in September 2019 before the Coronavirus pandemic brought things screeching to a halt in early 2020. But in June 2020, Tuck and long-time producer, Carl Bown, who co-produced the band’s 2015 album, Venom, and produced and mixed Gravity, picked up the pace again. Together, they hunkered down at Treehouse Studio in Chesterfield, where the remainder of the album was written.

Pre-orders for Bullet For My Valentine‘s seventh studio album are now live, with an instant download of singles, “Knives,” “Parasite” and “Shatter.” Special bundle options are available, including a unique clipping from the backdrop used on the bands ‘Venom‘ world tour from 2015 – 2017, t-shirts, hoodies, gold & silver cassettes, and limited vinyl. CAVERN DEEP have released a video for their full debut self-titled concept album. The video is currently streaming via the 666 Mr.Doom YouTube channel and can be viewed below.

This video is made completely DIY by Cavern Deep. The video contains all of the songs from the new self-titled debut album released on Interstellar Smoke Records with aditional content to flesh out the concept of the album.

The album syposis is as follows:
“The start of the expedition.
One archaeologist and 49 men stand at the gates of a previously unknown civilization, for a moment staring down into the bowels of the mountain before they begin their decent. The journey downwards turn out to be more dangerous than expected, they climb down through whirling stairs lit only by organic fluorescent lights.. Further down the path turns more and more crumbled, eventually they must use ropes to traverse the broken bridges and tunnels over the deep chasms below. Filled by the promise of treasure they continue downwards. Many men go missing as they’re tasked to explore diverting tunnels, they never return and their screams are followed by silence. the only thing found is their safety ropes, driven by greed the archaeologist continues the expedition.”

Buy the album on Interstellar Smoke Records at this location.
