Jimmy Kay from Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke to KK’s Priest singer and solo artist Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens.
Ripper gave The Metal Voice a rundown of the upcoming KK’s Priest debut album, “Sermons Of The Sinner”, which will be released on October 1 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.
When asked should this new KK’s Priest album have been the follow up to Demolition “I don’t know. The thing about Judas Priest is they change and did whatever they wanted because they were Judas Priest. Every record sounded different except for ‘Screaming for Vengeance’ and ‘Defenders of the Faith’. Their last album was fantastic but it didn’t really sound like Judas Priest because they didn’t really write it. It was a great record but everything sounds different. What would have been next after Demolition I don’t know? This new record (KK’s) well could have been. I think what this record (KK’s Priest) shows is what kind of record K.K. wanted to make with Judas Priest because this is how he writes. This shows you why records become what they are. This new record shows just so much of K.K. Downing. KK wrote the record that he wanted to write and he wanted to write it for me to sing. “
When asked about some of the new songs musical style? “There are a lot of layers, there are a lot of epic kinds of songs is how I like to describe it. There is a lot going on. Actually it goes back to early Judas Priest listen to Rocka Rolla. Rocka Rolla was filled with that stuff and guess who wrote most of that album K.K. Downing. The song ‘Return of the Sentinel’ is one of my favorite songs off the new album, it is a little more musical in the classic Metal way. I think K.K. has taken ‘Sad Wings of Destiny’ and ‘Rocka Rolla’ influences and just brought it to nowadays.”
Extraordinary instrumental trio ADDIKTIO bring a unique sonic experience with their new single “North”! Listen to their massive new single here: https://orcd.co/north.
“North” is the thrid single off Addiktio’s upcoming second studio album titled “Anthem for the Year 2020”, to be released on Oct 29 via Indie Recordings!
As the band states: “North’ is one of our straighter tunes, centered around a somewhat folky slide melody that Håkon wrote several years ago. The driving beat, the dreamy vibe, and the shimmering 12-strings makes for a perfect base to take things elsewhere just when it gets too comfortable. A classic example of Håkons songwriting. In many ways, ‘North’ is a great summary of what our music is all about.”

British NWoBHM legends VARDIS have announced a new double live album “100 M.P.H.@100 Club”, coming out on November 26th, via SPV/Steamhammer.
In the 1970s Vardis’ relentless touring of the working mens clubs of Northern England took them to support slots with Hawkwind, Slade, Motörhead and Saxon, emerging with a reputation for a unique heavy rock attack and high energy technical brilliance. On November 1st 1980 Vardis’ live debut LP 100 M.P.H. entered UK Album Charts at #52 and instantly became a foundational record of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The power trio’s fusion of fast punk rhythms, relentless heavy riffs and blistering blues rock solos echoes through Metallica’s 1983 Kill ‘Em All and Megadeth’s 1985 Killing Is My Business … and Business Is Good!, and became an old school Heavy Metal classic.
Four studio albums, three compilations and seven singles later, SPV/Steamhammer present to you the Vardis live experience on record for the first time since 1980: ‚100 M.P.H.@100 Club’. A double live album recorded on March 13th 2020, the 40th anniversary of 100 M.P.H., this blistering two hour set includes every track from an album that led the way for Thrash, performed up close and personal by Steve Zodiac (Guitar, Vocals), Joe Clancy (Drums) and Roly Bailey (Bass) in London’s legendary 100 Club.
Following Mistheria‘s invitation to Emma to participate in the new Vivaldi Metal Project album (“EpiClassica”), Mistheria was in turn called by Emma to create this song together as acoustic version, piano and voice duo. Definitely a very special reinvention, a different approach that offers an unusual and intimate interpretation of this beautiful piece.
Watch the video here:
Emma Zoldan says: “Dear all, I am very happy and proud to finally share with you the cover I announced some weeks ago! I had the huge pleasure to collaborate once again with Maestro Mistheria (Vivaldi Metal Project), who accepted my invitation to work together on this cover of Dream Theater‘s ‘Lord Nafaryus’. Thanks Mistheria for your amazing work and your kindness. Hope you guys will enjoy it as much as we had fun to make it!”
Mistheria says: “Proud and very glad of this collaboration with one of the most extraordinary singers I have ever worked with, Emma Zoldan, a warm, powerful, charming, wonderful voice! After inviting Emma to participate in the upcoming Vivaldi Metal Project album “EpiClassica”, I was very flattered by her invitation to make this song together, an acoustic duo version of the fantastic Dream Theater‘s song ‘Lord Nafaryus’.”
“Game Over!” – it says in U.D.O.’s new album, releasing October 22nd.
The title of the bands new studio album, around rock icon Udo Dirkschneider (original voice of the cult band Accept,) has become a statement that has a lot to talk about. A topic of conversation that will probably also be provided by the new single “Prophecy”, including the video that has now been released.
U.D.O. looking deep into the abyss of humanity. How far can a wish go? And can you really wish for anything? We live in a world in which you can do almost anything for money. But where is the limit to what can be bought with money? The video for the song speaks a clear language. It was filmed in an SM club near Karlsruhe and is visually devoted to the question of whether important limits are sometimes overlooked in our (affluent) world – out of greed, out of selfishness, out of the belief that nothing is impossible.
Dirkschneider stands for clear, straightforward statement. “If humans don’t rethink some things, it could have drastic consequences,” he says. The whole album “Game Over” is the realistic, sober observation of an artist who has seen the world more intensely than hardly anyone else. Born in Solingen, he has been on tour around the world for over four decades. He traveled to Russia at the time of the Iron Curtain, gave concerts at an altitude of over 4000 meters in Peru and experienced the planet and its inhabitants many times more privately than anyone would do as a normal traveler.
Humanity with its often (self-) destructive nature preoccupies him. However, “Prophecy” is not only a promising harbinger of the new album in terms of text and content: the song also makes it clear musically where the journey is going this time. Crashing riffs, precise grooving basses and a driving heaviness dominate the songs. Anyone who likes unpolished, straightforward heavy rock will immediately feel at home here.
