Alternative Rock/Metallers DREAM DROP have now released their debut album “Sometimes You’re Gonna Feel Like A Loser, But That´s Alright”. The 12 tracks discuss themes like self-harm, mental health and relationships in a bittersweet way.
“Life can be so dreadful and horrible that it’s almost funny.” //Dream Drop
The album’s sound spans from Linkin Park-esque hip-hop parts to pop landscapes reminiscent of The 1975 but also hits you with guitar solos à la John Frusciante or the Blink 182-style back and forth vocals between vocalist Joar and guitarist and backing vocalist Zorro. There’s something for every type of music fan on this album.
With a rock solid vocal line up and catchy choruses that make them interesting to both rock fans and new listeners, the Finnish melodic metal band CLEAR VISION was born some cold, early spring days at the studio of Teemu Aalto. Building up to a full EP, they are now releasing their debut single Eve of the End, featuring Ella Tepponen.
Clear Vision is a six piece melodic metal outfit consisting of Mikko Laihanen (drums), Jaakko Mäntymaa (Vocals), Antti Röksä (Rhythm Guitar), Mika Koskimies (Clean Vocals), Johnny Texas (Bass), Petri Paronen (Rhythm/ Lead Guitar and Orchestrations), born and raised in Finland and for the time being based in the southern parts of the country.
Talking about their songs, Paronen says: ”In many ways all the songs have one theme, which can be described as life difficulties. But still after a lot is lost in a journey of life there still lays hope at the end of the tunnel. All the songs are personal to me as a writer, Jaakko who wrote most of the lyrics pretty much read my mind and put in words what was hiding in my mind.”
Also to mention for their part in creating the cold nordic landscape of onrushing energy that is the music of Clear Vision, is Teemu Aalto (recording, mixing, producing), well known for his magic touch that he infused in every single track of the upcoming new EP, Grammy nominated mastering engineer Svante Forsbäck (mastering) and singer Ella Tepponen who is featuring on the bands debut single Eve Of the End.
Other than being a very skilled and experienced group – most band members have had music as a big part of their lives for more than 20 years – they offer a unique sound with rock solid vocal line up and catchy choruses, making them interesting to experinced rock fans as well as audienced new to the scene.
On the 20th Anniversary of September 11, new documentary Bulletproof Wings depicts rock band EDISUN’s concert tour for soldiers on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Ethan Isaac of Ridgefield, CT, was walking on Horatio Street in lower Manhattan on the fateful morning of September 11, 2001, when the World Trade Center was toppled in a terrorist attack. Fighting his way through the soot and ash to escape the terror, he made his way to the Catskill Mountains. “I was scared of what this meant for the future of the country and the world,” said Isaac.
Ethan channeled his memories of that day into a song called “Into the Sunlight,” a song that would find its way to the ears of Armed Forces Entertainment. So began the journey that would take Ethan and his rock band Edisun to more than 20 countries, performing for United States military men and women.
His experience traveling to the heart of war zones to boost the morale of US troops stationed on the front lines in Afghanistan and Iraq is documented in the new documentary film, Bulletproof Wings. The documentary is being released exclusively on TUBI TV September 11, 2021, telling the story of Ethan Issac and Edisun.
Their experience participating in a military experiment to bring live music to some of the most dangerous venues on earth would change their lives forever. For the members of Edisun, this would be their first real tour as a band. For one, it would be his last.
Directed by Lori Ambrosini of Lo Ambro Films, and produced and edited by Amanda Ozment of Factory Underground Studio, the film consists of source footage collected by the band over the course of two tours in 2005 and 2006. As such, the film has a gritty, “behind the scenes” feel, offering an insightful look at military life in a war zone, as seen through the eyes of young musicians and the troops they meet while on tour. It also shows a remote and desolate part of the world that few Americans outside of the military have ever seen.
In certain respects, Bulletproof Wings is a travel film, as you join the band flying into the war zone in a C-130 airplane, experiencing what is referred to as a “combat landing,” shuttling between bases in Black Hawk helicopters (doors open, machine guns at the ready), harrowing ground convoys through desert sandstorms, all the while being coached by soldiers on the practicalities of living in a combat zone, such as when to wear their Kevlar helmets and body armor, and what to do during a rocket attack.

“Reality hit when we were flying from Kuwait to the northernmost part of Iraq. We were moving from base to base in a helicopter, doors open on a Black Hawk,” said Ethan. “Flying in a helicopter, putting on body armor was not something we were used to doing,” said guitarist Jonathan Svec.
There are lighthearted moments in the film, such as when the young musicians discover one of the gold toilets in one of Saddam Hussein’s former palaces, where they were housed in Baghdad on their first tour, only yards away from where Hussein himself was still jailed at the time.
Then there are heavier, almost surreal, moments such as an impromptu interview with an Afghan soldier whose family was killed by the Taliban, and who seemed to know just where Osama Bin Laden was hiding. As it was later revealed, the soldier was right.
At times, lead singer Ethan Isaac becomes the interviewer, turning the camera and microphone on American soldiers who offer candid reflections and insights into their personal lives, their missions, the dangers they face, and their incredible sense of duty. “Trying to understand what the soldiers were going through, they felt great being able to share their experiences with someone from home,” recalls Isaac.

Yet in the context of these strange and occasionally terrifying circumstances, the film is just as much the story of a young rock band on tour. Viewers see Edisun performing up close and personal for soldiers in full camouflage, talking with fans rocking out to the band’s original music (with an occasional rendition of AC DC’s classic “Highway to Hell”). “One soldier held my hand with both hands, and he wouldn’t let go. He said “Thank you so much, you have no idea how important this is,” said Svec.
Edisun’s original music is featured throughout the documentary with video highlights showing live performances by vocalist Ethan Isaac (Ridgefield, CT), guitarist Jonathan Svec (Stamford, CT), drummer Todd Budich (South Salem, NY), former bassist Jay Salley (Norwalk, CT) and former drummer Tim Newton (Fairfield, CT).
“I’m deeply proud of what Edisun accomplished, and I’m thankful for these experiences we shared as a band. Getting to know the soldiers, and seeing first hand what they went through to protect us, it made me proud to be an American, said Isaac.

“Be For Oss Alle” is the new album from SON OF A SHOTGUN, the off-shot Southern death/grind band let by guitar player Ivan “Meathook” Gujic, well-known for his role as the guitar player of Norwegian death metal gods Blood Red Throne. The record was produced in Meathook Studios, being mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy’s Christian Donaldson. Ivan states “We as a band are extremely fired up! Taking our music and talent to a new level. A big hellyeah goes to Emanzipation for working with Son Of A Shotgun“.
Son Of A Shotgun started in 2015 in Norway, Kristiansand, by the mind & hand of the guitar player Ivan Meathook Gujic of Norway’s meanest death metal band Blood Red Throne. SOAS started as a one-man band, with Meathook serving as the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. The debut album “Mexican Standoff”, released in 2017, featured Jan Axel Blomberg “Hellhammer” (Mayhem, Acturus), Damege Karlsen (Breed, Chrome Division), and Maurice Adams (Breed, Motorfinger).
After the release of “The Mexican Standoff” Meathook kicked off a Norwegian tour, covering all the biggest cities and headlining the Southern Discomfort festival. In their touring, SOAS even played with Cannibal Corpse and made a documentary of it. 2018 was the year of the SOAS zombie squad. The project turned to a full line-up, with some of the best extreme musicians in Norway. The mind-blowing debut of the band happened in Oslo in 2019. Fully uniformed, war-painted. A military precision gig.
Now it’s time for a new chapter in Son Of A Shotgun rampage.
“Be For Oss Alle” is out today in digital, LP, and CD formats via Emanzipation Productions at http://www.emanzipation.dk.

Finnish melodic tradition runs hot in the veins of AS I MAY as they release the second single from their forthcoming album “Karu” due out in 2022 via Uprising! Records.
“Charged” is a song as heavy and energetic in the verses as melodic and addictive in the chorus. A combination that already proved to be a winner for the Finnish four-piece.
“The whole idea for the song came from the Netflix “Making A Murderer” series”, vocalist & guitarist Lasse Hiltunen says. “The song is based on fiction and we don’t have any opinions on that case, but what a story! The actual song has really hard-hitting guitar riffs with an, almost, pop hit vocal melody in the chorus, with metal guitars. For the music video, we tried to get more of that story-vibe with colours of flame and charcoal. Sad, tragic story from all points of view“, he concludes.
As I May is a four-piece modern melodic metal band from Mikkeli, Finland – formed in 2016. The band combines modern elements, yet keeps focus on the heavier side of the music, and they sound like a modern-day US mixture of In Flames and Amorphis, so almost any metal fan would get a treat from listening to the music of these Finns! It’s a mature band, displaying a truly professional attitude towards the modern sound of heavy metal. The soul of the music lies within the catchy melodies and the big choruses.
The band released their debut album “Speak No Evil” in 2017, and got the attention of lots of fans and from the record label Rockshots Records, who decided to sign As I May for the 2019 release of their 2nd album “My Own Creations”. In Asia, the album was released through the label Spiritual Beast.
As I May played a wide array of local Finnish shows and were booked for a European tour, as support for the Brazilian powerhouse-metal act Semblant… and then Covid-19 reared its ugly face, postponing everything for everyone.
The tour is postponed until the spring of 2022 and in the lock-down period, As I May have spent the time, composing and recording their brand-new opus “Karu”, a venture into more modern and direct in-your-face songs. The full length will be released worldwide by Uprising! Records in 2022.
