WIEGEDOOD Announce European Tour For Upcoming Album “There’s Always Blood At The End Of The Road”

Belgium’s WIEGEDOOD will release their upcoming album “There’s Always Blood At The End of The Road” on January 14th, 2022.

The band comments: “’There’s Always Blood At The End Of The Road’” focuses on the filthiest and most disgusting parts of human nature and society. It steers clear from the typical Black Metal themes and concepts, instead zoning in on the struggle we lead within, trying to overcome the fact we are all made from that same filth. Exploring places the previous trilogy didn’t even scratch the surface of, both lyrically and musically. A first-hand look into pure disgust, a psychotic ride with synths, tape-recorders, hot club jazz and distressing samples. A definite switch from our previous work, a dark turn into something unexpected and unwelcome.”

Being dedicated road dogs the band will embark on a European tour following the release of the album. The first part will be supported by Portrayal Of Guilt.

CASSIUS KING’s Jason McMaster: “I hate to dabble with death in so many songs, but death is real.”

Dangerous Toys, Broken Teeth and Cassius King vocalist Jason McMaster was recently interviewed by Glide Magazine

Glide Magazine: Did you think about tying the songs on the album together with certain themes, or did you just let that develop naturally? They all do seem to tie into ideas of visions and menacing places in some way, but not in an overt way necessarily.

JMcM: I think they do tie together for a common reason, and that’s just that when I hear Dan’s riffs, those are influencing me to write a certain way. They influence me to “go dark” because the sounds are dark. They are very Black Sabbath, and dare I say, J.R.R. Tolkien before Led Zeppelin. Though a lot of these lyrics were taken from ideas I already had, there are some songs on there that do tie into the concepts of the album but might be a little more personal.

More than once in a few songs, I’m talking about a ghost or spirit. More than likely, it’s someone who is welcome more than not welcome. I like to think that it could be my mother, if it were personal, but I try to keep the lyrics vague, like in “Traveler”. “Below the Stones” is another song that talks about the graveside. I hate to dabble with death in so many songs, but death is real. That sort of thing weaves in and out of the song lyrics.

“TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” Makes World Premiere at Toronto International Film Festival Tomorrow September 10th

Banger Films, in association with Revolver Films, is proud to announce its latest feature, “TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE”, will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Directed by Banger Films’ Sam Dunn and Marc Ricciardelli, the documentary chronicles the career of the multi-gold and platinum-selling power rock band, Triumph, and is produced by Banger Films in association with Revolver Films, Bell Media’s Crave, Live Nation Productions, NBC Universal Canada, Slaight Communications Inc. and the Rogers Documentary Fund. “TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” will be released in Canada by Bell Media with international distribution rights represented by WaZabi Films.

Before Drake and The Weekend, there was a different set of Toronto musicians who rule the roost. Known simply as Triumph, this rock trio—which includes drummer/singer Gil Moore, singer/guitarist Rik Emmett, and bassist/keyboardist Mike Levine—dominated North American radio and MTV in the ‘80s with hits such as “Lay It On the Line,” “Hold On,” and “Magic Power.” Despite being one of the world’s biggest rock bands, the group split at the height of their fame and seemingly disappeared without explanation to their fans or media. Set to a mesmerizing visual backdrop of spandex, 80s hair, and explosive pyro, “TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” delivers a deeper story about fame and the human condition while chronicling the band’s reunion for what might be the very last time they play music together. (English, 97 minutes)

“The Triumph story was compelling to me, Marc, and the Banger team because it was an opportunity to piece together a broken puzzle,” says Sam Dunn. “We wanted to know how and why the band dissolved at the peak of their powers. We’re thrilled to be returning to TIFF for the world premiere of this film!”

“Sam and Marc did an outstanding job documenting what it has been like to have been aboard the Triumph train for the past near-50 years,” raves Triumph bassist Mike Levine. “For fans old, new, and those to come in the future, this is all they’ll need to know about the band.”

“TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” premieres at TIFF on Friday, September 10th at 9:00p.m. ET at the RBC Lakeside Drive-In at Ontario Place, Toronto.

Finnish WOLFTOPIA Release Debut Album in December, Unleash First Single ‘Hound of War’

Finnish melodic death metallers WOLFTOPIA are set to release their debut album Ways of the Pack on December 17th 2021 via Inverse Records.

“Hound of War” is the first single by the melodic death metal band Wolftopia, from the Finnish city of Vaasa. Introducing their 2021 debut album, Ways of the Pack, this is a hard-hitting single that grabs you with the first notes and won’t let you go until the last chords have faded. The song begins with a massive double guitar riff, played aggressively by lead guitarist Topi Karhunen and frontman Aleksander Okhotnikov and supported by the wild double bass drums of Tom Israels and growling bass guitar of Tim Reus. The song opens up hard, shakes the listener awake, and drags them into the aggressive, fast and bombastic world of Wolftopia.

Okhotnikov explains that the song was inspired by the Gothenburg death metal scene, and that inspiration of the band’s western neighbours can be heard in the riffs. “Hound of War” might be one of the more straightforward songs on the album, but it expresses perfectly what Wolftopia is all about: fast-paced, melodic and atmospheric death metal. This is evident from the crunchy double guitar riffs in the introduction and verses, but also from the majestic solo by lead guitar virtuoso Karhunen and the brooding bridge, glowering with power chords and a heavy bass sound.

This brooding aggression might be a surprise for those who look at the inspiration for the lyrics. The words tell of the wolfhound Huan, from the classic J. R. R. Tolkien love story of Beren and Lúthien. The story isn’t only about love, however: it also asserts that destiny is foretold and can’t be denied. And that’s the angle that “Hound of War” focuses on. The threatening bridge and the sorrowful, emotional guitar solo and outro are a representation of this struggle to accept our destiny.
