GAEREA Announce UK Tour with WODE in April 2022

Cathartic black metal outfit GAEREA are now announcing new tour dates for 2022! Besides their already announced assaults in Ireland with WINTERFYLLETH and Europe with HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY, GAEREA added UK dates to unleash their void upon. ‘The Grinning Martyrs’ tour will kick of at the Black Heart in London on April 21st and sees the band playing 7 more shows before a final curtain the Dead Wax venue in Birmingham a week later. A full list of confirmed dates can be found below. 

GAEREA comment on the tour: “Upon an incredible amount of requests from the British Vortex Front, we are extremely pleased to announce that GAEREA will tour the UK in April 2022! We are ready and eager to unleash all the force and agony accumulated during the Limbo era on this brilliant run together with WODE. The Void’s Hunt never stops!“

HELHEIM Reveal New Single ‘Forrang for fiende’ From Upcoming Album

On the 29th October, HELHEIM will be back again with “WoduridaR”,  the band’s eleventh full-length album, and one that harks back to the very roots that the band laid down almost 30 years ago. Three decades during  which  HELHEIM have become known as a band that depicts its Norse heritage with an authenticity and integrity that is so often lacking today.

As a taster to an album that is so hotly anticipated, Dark Essence Records have released another single from  “WoduridaR”, this time choosing  the track “Forrang for fiende”, about which the band had this to say: 

The lyrics for ” Forrang for fiende” (Precedence for enemy) are more sinister and are spat out in such a way that perfectly illustrates the feelings of  misanthropy towards the human race.  The musical approach is straight forward Helheim with a touch of rock n roll attitude. All garnished with grim verses and monumental choruses.

As to the album itself, “WoduridaR”  has allowed HELHEIM to explore further the areas the band found most interesting in their previous two releases, making use of the aggression of  2017’s “LandawarijaR” and expanding the atmosphere and melodies, and the use of clean vocals, found on 2019’s “Rignir”.

The name “WoduridaR” itself is an Old Norse word, which  can be translated as “The Wild Rider”, and lines can be drawn directly between the album’s title to Odin’s many names and meanings.  It is not, however, a concept album, with the tracks being  independent from  each other, and each one free to tell its own story.

It  is, nevertheless, an album that sums of HELHEIM’s legendary career because, running through the whole of “WoduridaR”, fans will recognise elements from all of HELHEIM’s past albums, as the band explains:

With “WoduridaR” we have returned to the harshness and the paradigms of “LandawarijaR”, with explosive,  mid-paced melodies that have an emotive refrain which summons the northern flames. Helheim never falters, Helheim never surrenders.

VANILLA FUDGE Release Cover ‘Stop In The Name Of Love’ + Tribute to Their Bandmate “To The Legacy of Tim Bogert”

The legendary VANILLA FUDGE, the original line-up of Mark Stein, Carmine Appice, Vincent Martel and Tim Bogert, together one final time; take listeners on a psychedelically-tinged version of The Supremes classic, ‘Stop In The Name Of Love’. This masterpiece is an instant classic, putting on display the virtuosity and raw talent of one of the pioneers of psyche rock! The vibrancy and integrity of this band 55 years into their careers is one more reason why “The Fudge” should be in The Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame. 

Back in 2019, Mark Stein put together an idea for VANILLA FUDGE to do an arrangement for ‘Stop In The Name Of Love’. The dream was to capture the lightning in a bottle that happened with their classic arrangement of The Supremes, “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”.  That track has remained current decades after its release thanks to film and television placements such as “The Sopranos” finale, and big Hollywood blockbusters like “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”. While the Fudge was out on tour later that year they went into the studio and laid down tracks that would be the foundation of this new release.

“So back in mid 2019, I put together a blueprint for an arrangement for ‘Stop in the Name of Love’, while the Fudge was out there doing shows later that year. We went into the studio and recorded the track. We planned to complete it, there were delays, and then the pandemic put everything on hold.” – Mark Stein

They planned to complete it with Tim Bogert on the track, however they ran into some unavoidable delays with the pandemic putting everything on hold. Tim had been living with cancer for some time, and they didn’t know how much time he had. Carmine Appice took the matter into his own hands and when he went to Los Angeles’ NAMM  show  in January of 2020; he arranged for Tim to record at Jorgen Carlsson’s (the bass player for Gov’t Mule) studio in LA. 

“It was very cool that we were able to get Timmy on the track. I’m glad he was strong enough and gracious enough to record with us one last time – he gave me a great template to build on with my guitar. I created an East Indian raga intro in the spirit of our early albums and rocked out at the end. Hold on tight everybody,’ cause here comes The Fudge…” – Vince Martel 

Upon Tim’s passing the band recorded tributes to their brother and bandmate with producer Leslie Gold. This heartfelt recording “To The Legacy Of Tim Bogert” is a must listen for fans of Vanilla Fudge. Tim Bogert was loved by his band mates, his family, his friends and his fans. He will be missed.

Drummer with a Rock soul, Steve begins playing drums studying with masters Dom Famularo, Roberto Gualdi, Christian Meyer, Gianni Branca, Pier Paolo Ferroni, Andrea Marchesini, Ruggero Pazzaglia and Livio Rebaudo. He becomes the drummer of various bands including the most important Dayan Same (top demo on Metal Shock in 2005) and Jennifer Scream (support band of Hardcore Superstar and Pretty Boy Floyd). In 2011 he released his first solo album “Revenge” with Mike Vescera and Adam Bomb, which will be followed in 2014 by “Steve in Wonderland” with Blaze Bayley of Iron Maiden.

The album is defined by IYEZINE magazine as the best Hard-Rock album of 2014 and is included in an encyclopeid dedicated to Iron Maiden entitled “Outside Iron Maiden” by Erwin Lucas. For years he has dedicated himself to didactic activity teaching in various schools; in 2018 he released his first drum method “Building Drum”.

In 2020 he play with the international artist MIKA at Sanremo Festival.

He is the drummer of THE RAINBIRD (with the American singer Mike Vescera) and THE STEVE FOGLIA SOCIETY and over the years he has collaborated with several musicians including Michele Luppi (Whitesnake) and Dario Mollo (Glenn Hughes).

TONY MARTIN Announces Release Date for New Solo Album ‘Thorns’

TONY MARTIN, former Black Sabbath singer, announces his upcoming solo album “THORNS” will be released worldwide on January 14, 2022 with pre-orders beginning December 1, 2021. The album is licensed in all of North and South America by Dark Star Records, and will be available to all other countries via Battlegod Productions.

Talking about the new album Tony had this to say, “This new album is probably the most “Tony Martin” a Tony Martin album has ever sounded!! It’s got several surprises that will lift people’s eyebrows I am sure. Largely, but not entirely based around the riffs of Scott McClellan, new to the world scene he has proved to be a worthy partner in crime for this release… I was able to make some great songs out of the riffs he was coming up with which is very similar in the writing sense to that which I experienced with Tony Iommi. Different sound and style but the riffing talent that someone like Scott has is very cool.

It is diverse, melodic, powerful, thought provoking and of a standard high as ever i have worked on. I believe there are stories still to tell, songs still to be sung and with this album I feel it’s achieved everything I could have wished for.

Tony Martin, is an English heavy metal vocalist, best known for his time fronting Black Sabbath, initially from 1987 to 1991 and again from 1993 to 1996. Martin was the band’s second longest serving vocalist after Ozzy Osbourne. Eternal Idol and Headless Cross are among the best known Black Sabbath albums featuring Tony Martin as well as Scream his solo album from 2005.

Ex-BLIND GUARDIAN drummer Thomas ‘Thomen’ Stauch (Mentalist / Dawn Of Amber) recently joined forces with Tino Hevia – Guitars (Reveal / Darksun), Dani Fernandez – Bass (Dark Moor / Holycide), and Rob Lundgren – Vocals (Reveal / Mentalist) to present their version of the classic IRON MAIDEN track, “Strangers in a Strange Land”. The song was mixed and mastered by Tino Hevia.

Thomen played drums on the classic BLIND GUARDIAN albums Somewhere Far Beyond, Imaginations From The Other Side, and Nightfall In Middle Earth. Presently he is the drummer for MENTALIST, who released their album A Journey Into The Unknown earlier this year, featuring Rob on vocals.

Tino and Rob are members of REVEAL, who are currently in the middle of writing their third album. Previous releases include Overlord (2019) and Timeline (2017).
