SUPERLYNX Set To Release Six-Track Digital EP “Solstice”

Following on from the completion  of their third full-length album “Electric Temple” Norway’s SUPERLYNX, whose sound is a distinctive combination of  doom, psychedelic and meditative atmospheres suffused with heaviness and droning rock,  found themselves at somewhat of a loose end , falling prey, as did many, to the effects of the Pandemic on the live scene.

This led to SUPERLYNX embarking on the recording of “Solstice”, which was to become a six-track EP that contains both original material and covers, and which will be released in Digital format on Dark Essence Records on the 8th December.  As  the band explains:

After recording our third album “Electric Temple” in the middle of the pandemic there were almost no gigs to play and a lot of free time. We were not ready for a break from music and not quite ready to embark on a new album just yet. So for the love of playing and for the love of music we booked a studio weekend mid winter 2020 and recorded four cover songs.

These songs are musical gems to us and have had an influence on our own musical life in one way or another. We then put them together with two original songs from the “Electric Temple” sessions for which there had been no room on the album

After making three deeply personal and emotionally heavy albums,  some time out of our own heads playing music was a fun and refreshing experience. It was also a boost before starting the writing process for  our fourth album, which is just about to happen.

A teaser video for the “Solstice” EP can be seen below.

With the exception of the track “Cosmic Wave”, which was mixed by Marc Urselli, all the songs on “Solstice” have been recorded, mixed, produced and mastered by Ole Teigen at Crowtown Recordings.

The artwork for “Solstice” is by Pia Isaksen, and the tracklisting is as follows:

1.Born Too Late (Saint Vitus cover)
2. Spread Your Love (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club cover)
3. Something in the Way (Nirvana Cover)
4. Nature Boy (Nat King Cole / Eden Ahbez cover)
5. Reorbit
6. Cosmic Wave

Formed in 2013 by drummer Ole Teigen and bassist/vocalist Pia Isaksen, it had always been SUPERLYNX’s intention to remain a duo, but a meeting with guitarist Daniel Bakken, coupled with his performance during rehearsals, changed all that.  It was clear that he belonged in the band and SUPERLYNX became a fully-fledged trio.

A video by Joan Pope / Temple ov Saturn for the title track from SUPERLYNX’s album “Electric Temple”, which was released on Dark Essence Records in the Spring of 2021, can be seen at https://youtu.be/zphXNF_dUyU

German OIL Release Video for ‘Life Doesn’t Do’

The song “Life Doesn’t Do” is the latest release of the German hard rock band OIL. The power trio impresses with two great singers – drummer Marc Vetter and guitarist and frontman Gert Endres share vocals in this live version, recorded at the renowned WeLive Festival. Bassist Rainer Jauch, meanwhile, fascinates with virtuoso bass playing. Especially to be pointed out: Drummer Marc Vetter sings the chorus behind his drums with a distinctive voice, while Endres knows how to inspire alternately as a singer and with guitar solos.

The video for the song was made in the course of the film series “WeLive” (www.welive-festival.com) at the Schlachthof Lahr. The fascinating performance of the band was filmed with 10 cameras and later released as a concert film. The movie was directed by the Brothers Pirmin Styrnol and Maik Styrnol of punchline studio. The song “Life Doesn’t Do” is now available on YouTube.

FAREWELL TO FEAR Release New Single + Lyric Video ‘Falling’

U.S. Active Rockers FAREWELL TO FEAR recently returned armed with a new label and a cracking new single ‘Brainwashed’ which was released via Crusader Records / Golden Robot Records. ‘Brainwashed’ was their first new material in over 12 months and now have released another massive arena ready anthem in ‘Falling’, which is out now (with accompanying lyric video) on all digital platforms!

‘Falling’ touches on the downward spiral of depression and shows the perspective of a new generation trying to make sense of it all.  Everyone falls victim to darkness and depression; ‘Falling’ delivers the message that you are not alone and this feeling won’t last forever. The track features a powerful vocal melody, heavy riffs and duelling guitar harmonies on top of a thundering rhythm section with a slamming groove and massive production.

Listen/Buy ‘Falling‘ HERE

FAREWELL TO FEAR was born out of the huge black hole that mainstream rock radio left during the absence of super rock stars like Metallica, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. The band revisits an era with big rock riffs, bigger choruses and huge anthems for a new generation of rockers. The bands cover of Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ has racked up nearly 2.5 Million Spotify streams.

Farewell to Fear’s first full-length album New Blood, produced by Brett Hestla (Creed, Dark New Day), generated an incredible three singles on Sirius XM’s Octane channel, a rare feat for an unknown band. As well as landing them at #1 on Amazon’s Hot New Rock Singles chart and #8 on iTunes Rock chart, their debut album also earned them direct support from Howard Stern, including the rarest of moments on Stern’s show – airing an entire song as opposed to the normal 20 second snippet he usually shares. That track, ‘Diamonds’, recently eclipsed 2.4 million streams on Spotify.

Inspired by the overwhelming success of New Blood, Farewell To Fear released their Legacy  EP, ultimately allowing them to seamlessly merge their skills and styles together to create heavy rock songs that deliver a strong punch to the gut, while staying melodic and delivering impactful lyrics hitting all ranges and octaves.

Shortly following Legacy, the band released their album Voices. It was produced by Damien Starkey (Burn Season & Puddle of Mudd) and elevated the bands’ sound.

“To listen to Voices is to take a deep, dark and emotional rollercoaster ride leaving you wanting more. Voices draws from anthemic songs of the past, while embracing the uncertain chaos around us.”

Expect no stone unturned with this album!  The highly anticipated single ‘Underneath my Skin’ landed at #29 on the Billboard Rock Indicator Charts. With the single sending a powerful sucker-punch with its anthem of love and obsession, it moves as an emotional gut-wrenching song that will inspire the devil within.

The band wasted no time spreading their new sound with the masses at various rock festivals, touring with artists such as Fozzy, Like A Storm, Palisades and Flaw throughout North America and Canada, including joining Chris Jericho/Fozzy and friends performing on the ‘Rockin and Wrestling Rager at Sea’ Cruise.

Staying true to form, Farewell to Fear immediately went back into the studio amidst the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to release the ever timely single ‘I Won’t Be Your Tragedy’, which quickly shot to #21 on the Billboard Rock Indicator Chart and eclipsed over 100K streams on Spotify in 3 months.

Farewell to Fear is poised for an explosive 2022 and has already been invited to perform at the Rebel Rock Festival in Orlando, with Five Finger Death Punch, Limp Bizkit, I Prevail, Sevendust and many more!

Farewell to Fear is:
Mike Craig – vocals
Tommy Gibbons – guitars & vocals
Jimmy Adams – drums
Jeremy Sevens – bass guitar
Bill Staley – guitars & vocals

Farewell to Fear is very proud to announce they have been signed to international powerhouse label Golden Robot Records for their new album! This is huge news for the band, as it will push the band to another level. 2022 / 2023 will be an exciting time, with Farewell to Fear releasing new music and touring the world.

CELTIC HILLS Finished Recording Upcoming Album, Announce Guest Guitarist Gabriele Pala

Italian legendary Speed/thrash metallers CELTIC HILLS have finished recording their yet untitled upcoming album, coming out via Elevate Records. The release date TBA. Furthermore, Jonathan Vanderbilt, the band’s leader, has announced the guest guitarist, Gabriele Pala, playing solos in two album tracks.

Band’s singer and guitarist Jonathan Vanderbilt stated:
“The new Celtic Hills album is recorded! A guest plays 2 guitar solos: Gabriele Pala (Karnak, Azure Agony, Goldenseed). We are talking about one of the most talented and eclectic musicians of the Italian music circuit. In addition to being a very good guitarist, Gabriele is an expert connoisseur of Chapman Stick, an instrument played with the tapping technique. Thanks to this knowledge he participated in the first (and so far only) album by Celestial Serenity, a project similar to the genre proposed by Cynic, which was attended by musicians from practically every corner of the globe.”

Gabriele and Jonathan have been friends for several years, and it was only natural that he was a guest to perform the solo of ‘Green Forest’ and ‘Gate of Hollow Earth’. This new album, which will be released by Elevate Records, was also recorded and produced by Michele Guaitoli, singer of Temperance and Vision of Atlantis.

Jonathan adds: “After the success of Mystai Keltoy we had two paths: to write a record that followed the same trend or to have the courage to take new directions The 10 new tracks are majestic, fast and epic! Gabriele Pala is thrilled to participate in this work which represents a further step forward in the band’s “scharage musik” style.“

Earlier Jonathan revealed on the upcoming album:
“Again this time we will talk about Friuli, and the theory is at work that the location of the American Air Force Base Aviano is used to control an ancient access to the underground world, which has been used by the pagan gods since ancient times. The magical rites of the inhabitants of the mountains and the places where elves, fairies and gnomes once lived among the people are revealed. There are already definitive titles such as The Sound of the Earth in F sharp minor. A text tells how you can use the beneficial energy of the trees at dawn to strengthen your energies, but there will be no lack of historical events that accompany every CELTIC HILLS album.”

The new studio work of Celtic Hills will see the participation as singer of the drummer Simone Cescutti who, after this work will give himself to a career as a singer and guitarist and who greets the fans of the band singing a song!

2021 has been a very positive year for CELTIC HILLS! The reviews of the ‘Mystai Keltoy’ album have been many, published on the major world newspapers and all with an average rating of around 9.

“Mystai Keltoy” (which is an enigmatic name that alludes to the Eleusian Mysteries) was released on May 15th 2021 via Elevate Records, and it’s inspired by themes ranging from ancient alien civilizations, European pyramids, legends and historical facts of Friuli, as you can already guess from the album cover. The disc was recorded and produced at the Groove Factory in Udine by Michele Guaitoli, a prominent name for being the lead singer of Temperance, Vision of Atlantis, Era.

The formation of the power trio is Simone Cescutti on drums, Jacopo Novello on bass and Jonathan Vanderbilt on vocals and guitars. The cover is hand painted by Sheila Franco, the same girl who painted Blood Over Intents, and represents the myth of the ancient visitors. Jonathan Vanderbilt played and recorded the album with Panico Custom instruments, the Italian sponsor of custom lutherie of Luca Panico di Ravenna, a guitar specially created with the specifications requested by the Canadian guitarist.

CELTIC HILLS were born in 2010, in 2020 they sign a recording contract with Elevate Records with which they release the album “Blood over Intents” and the EP “Schrage Musik” both in 2020.
In 2021 another album is out “Mystai Keltoy” produced and recorded by Michele Guaitoli singer of Temperance, Vision of Atlantis and Era. The style played is difficult to place in a single vein of metal, as there are many influences ranging from death to power, with sound elements that can also recall a certain type of 90’s thrash. The singing is quite varied, and for some listeners it may seem unusual in a metal band. power, speed and good melodic lines distinguish the band from others. Between 2010 and 2020 they released “Horns helmet fighters” and for the Slovak Music Globalliance they came out on international compilations on volumes 2,3,4.

JOY/DISASTER commented on the recording sessions:
“Composed during the confinement period between March and May 2020, FROM STARS TO ANGELS is an album bringing together very intimate tracks and which traces the evolution of emotions during a period of isolation. Each of us has taken a different look at the world, the media, nature and it is these developments that have given aggressive and melancholic nuances transcribed on these songs.
Given the difficulties in being able to move around, only the drums were recorded in DIY studio conditions but for the rest of the recordings, everyone recorded at home and then sent the tracks for mixing and mastering.”

About the musical style, the band adds:
“We do not respect musical codes, each album is different even if we find common sounds and harmonies, and we’re always trying to find new creative methods to express ourselves through the music.
Every new thing brings joys and disappointments, but that’s why we keep our rock’n roll spirit!”

Progressive rock and guitar legend STEVE HACKETT will be revisiting his stellar work with Genesis when he launches the US/Canada leg of his Genesis Revisited: Seconds Out + More Tour next year (which is currently underway and playing to packed houses throughout Europe).

“I’m thrilled to bring ‘Seconds Out’ back to life, featuring Genesis material at its most exciting and virtuosic,” says Steve. “This time with all numbers played in full plus additional surprises!”

As advertised, the show will feature the 1977 Genesis live album ‘Seconds Out’ performed in full, plus additional Genesis classics and standouts from Steve’s latest album, ‘Surrender of Silence.’

‘Seconds Out’ was the hugely successful double album recorded on Genesis’ 1977 concert tour together with The Cinema Show, from their 1976 tour, and featured Steve Hackett on guitar alongside Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks and Phil Collins who had taken on the role of vocalist following the departure of Peter Gabriel. The tour included music from each of the six studio albums from Steve’s time in Genesis and marked his final recordings with the band as he left to pursue his solo career upon its completion.

“We’re touring the world again now, and I intend to continue,” says Steve concerning his future plans. “It feels terrific to be back in the saddle with such great audience response and fronting a fantastic band.”

Steve will be joined on the tour by regular musicians Roger King (keyboards), Jonas Reingold (bass), Rob Townsend (saxes/flutes) with Nad Sylvan on vocals. Craig Blundell (Steven Wilson, Pendragon) will be on drums & percussion – he was voted by Modern Drummer and Rhythm Magazine readers as one of the top progressive and forward thinking drummers in the world.
