The two prophets collected under the banner of MISANTHUR herald the fall and spiritual putridity of humanity by creating art resonating fully with pain, anxiety and degradation. Founded in Częstochowa, Poland in one night in 2015 by Hellscythe and Draugr, MISANTHUR begun to take form.
Inspired by metal and non-metal genres, MISANTHUR merge trance percussion, earthbreaking bass, crushing guitars and hellish vocals with (post)apocalyptic ambient landscapes and noise to create its own oeuvre and paint the stories and scenery of mundane spiritual wasteland.
The band’s debut record ‘Ephemeris’ was written with the aim of capturing the concept of personal degradation, one’s own journey into the deepest corners of consciousness, one’s own weaknesses, fears, and monsters hidden in ego and identity, in the context of the fragility and evanescence nature of human life.
The only constant thing is change. The only sure thing is entropy.
August 20, 2021, will see Swedish old school death metal force, DAEMONICUS, return with their third studio album through Black Lion Records. Eschaton is the band’s first album in nine long years!
When DAEMONICUS burst into the extreme and death metal scene in 2006, followed by several demo EPs and two critically acclaimed full length records under their belt, the four- piece also took the stages by storm and toured with acts such as Christ Agony and Groteskh. Several line- up changes may have hit the band hard, but never stopped founding members PO Wester and Jörgen Persson to continously writing new song material. Now backed by bassist Martin Pudas and David Ekevärn on drums, in just a couple of days DAEMONICUS will strike back with their most confident and brutal work to date:Eschaton features nine razor- sharp and blistering tracks, showcasing a crushing blend of modern and old school death metal sound, yet it remains true to DAEMONICUS‘ core at the same time as progressing both as musicians and as a band. While the record and its new line- up marks the beginning of a new era for them, DAEMONICUS have recorded a masterpiece of Swedish death metal, and one that will proove to stand the test of time.
After the previously- release single alongside a video for ‘To Poison Everything’, DAEMONICUS have just unleashed a brand new track! Watch the blistering lyric video for “Reform Or Die” here:
“Reform Or Die is the second song in order on the album “Eschaton” and conviniently enough also the second single from said album. It picks up where the previous single (To Poison Everything) left off and continues to carry the story forward,” the band comments. “The main theme on this one is about religions reluctance and absolute unacceptence of other peoples cultures and way of life. The unavoidable outcome being a mandatory conversion in order to whorship the “right” God. The choice given is simply reform or die! Musically this gem is a true mid-tempo, old school death metal tune with a lot of melodies to top it off.”
DAEMONICUS‘ new album was mixed and mastered by Ronnie Björnström at Enhanced Audio Productions, and will be released on August 20, 2021 through Black Lion Records. The album pre- sale is available at THIS LOCATION!
A.D.2020 released a new video on Sunday August 1, 2021, for their cover of the song “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” by the band WAR. The track is from their forthcoming album Lockdown Diaries which is being released today, August 10th.
The video features the members of A.D.2020 playing the track in the studio and their home studios. The track is fresh and fun with each member taking a swing at lead vocals as well.
Recorded on two continents during the pandemic A.D.2020 is a collective studio project featuring in order of appearance in the video.
“We discussed doing a remake of this song early in the conversations that lead to the A.D.2020 project. I think the video is great because it shows us all during the lockdown playing and having fun and there are also some moments of humor and fantasy. It’s also a bit of a mantra we all live by “ Why Can’t We (All Just) Be Friends? “ the world would be a better place if we could all be friends. Our version of the song is the only song I can think of that has 6 lead vocal parts which also makes it a really unique cover. We hope the guys in WAR like the cover of their great song” says Todd Thanhauser.
The video features the following musicians:
Mark McNelley -Lead Vocals Melvin Brannon Jr. – Bass Guitar, Upright Bass, Harmonica, Vocals Todd Thanhauser- Drums, Vocals Dan Reed, Guitars, Keyboards, Vocals Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal- Lead Guitar, Vocals Greg Smith- Bass Guitar, Vocals
As the time ticks down to the October 1 release of HIMMELLEGEME‘s sophomore full-length “Variola Vera”, Karisma Records have released another single and accompanying video from the album to whet the appetite of the band’s growing fan-base.
The track chosen glories in the title of “Blowing Raspberries” about which the band have this to say:
“Blowing Raspberries” was also one of the earlier tracks written for this release. Aleksander brought the band a short demo, sort of as a joke. It wasn’t like anything he’d written before, but we quickly realized it had the potential to be a banger. Lyrically the subject is written as a space cop drama set in the future. Both lyrically and musically there are some hints pointing to a certain decade – or time period – so, put your down on and shake your bones loose!
“Blowing Raspberries” can be downloaded or streamed from a number of services at this location.
Whilst the video can be seen below.
Recorded from late spring through to the late fall of 2020 at Bergen’s Broen Studio, “Variola Vera” is the follow-up to HIMMELLEGEME’s critically acclaimed debut “Myth of Earth”, an album that brought the band to the attention of prog audiences world-wide.
Produced by Anders Bjelland (ELECTRIC EYE / HYPERTEXT) who also mixed and mastered the album, “Variola Vera” is, according to the band, “not quite a concept album” as they recently explained:
The overall themes of the album are the impact we humans have on planet earth, and the destruction we leave in our wake wherever we go. Not only in regards to the planet itself, but also to the people inhabiting it. It’s not a concept album per se – the lyrics are fictional with roots in reality, but based on newer and older events seen from different viewpoints.
Influenced by both Blues and Atmospheric Prog Rock, HIMMELLEGEME’s lineup of Aleksander Vormestrand (vocals, guitar), Hein Alexander Olson (lead guitar, slide, drums), Lauritz Isaksen (keys), Erik Alfredsen (bass, backing vocals, misc. instruments), Leiv Martin Green (drums, backing vocals), use heavy-hitting riffs, chilling melodies and melancholic lyrics, to create a dark, otherworldly, and timeless sound.
With cover art by Samantha Muljat, the track list for “Variola Vera” is as follows:
Shaping Mirrors Like Smoke
Heart Listening
Blowing Raspberries
Brother
Let the Mother Burn
Caligula
Agafia
Variola Vera
Set for release in CD, Digital, and Limited Edition LP Formats, “Variola Vera” is now available to pre-order from:
