This Halloween, groundbreaking dark alt-metal visionaries Plague of Angels returned with their most ambitious and emotionally charged single to date, ‘Black Requiem’. A haunting exploration of mental health and the darkness within the human psyche, the track signals a new chapter in the band’s evolution.

The band comment: “‘Black Requiem’ captures the sound of internal chaos, the private struggle that no one else can see. The imagery of Emilie performing from within a perspex coffin reflects that sense of being buried by your own mind yet still finding the strength to sing through it. This is the most conceptually ambitious piece we’ve ever created. From Caroline’s haunting piano that opens the track to the blistering guitar solo, every element serves the story of emotional confinement and release. Bringing Emilie Nox into the band has redefined our sound. Her ability to move between ethereal melody and visceral aggression gives ‘Black Requiem’ a rare emotional depth. It’s a song that bleeds honesty. We wanted to create something beautiful within the darkness. ‘Black Requiem’ is about confronting despair, not avoiding it, turning pain into art and noise into meaning.”

‘Black Requiem’ marks the first appearance of new vocalist Emilie Nox, whose dynamic range moves seamlessly from ethereal melody to visceral death growls and new bassist/pianist Caroline Campbell, whose expressive piano work and thunderous bass line low end expand the band’s already immersive sound.

Musically, ‘Black Requiem’ propels Plague of Angels further into their signature fusion of epic grandeur and extreme metal intensity. From fragile piano passages and sweeping strings to an explosive chorus and searing guitar solo, the song embodies the collision of vulnerability and rage, echoing the struggle at the heart of its lyrics.

The accompanying video for ‘Black Requiem’ is a dark, cinematic exploration of isolation and inner turmoil. Directed with stark visual precision, it features vocalist Emilie Nox entombed within a perspex coffin, a visceral metaphor for mental confinement and the will to break free.

Plague of Angels first turned heads with their debut single, ‘What Lies Beneath‘, and becoming the first metal band ever to perform on BBC’s The One Show. Their breathtaking live performance inside a church, complete with pipe organ accompaniment, earned critical acclaim from The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph, whilst solidifying their reputation as pioneers of “Organic Metal,” blending classical grandeur with contemporary heaviness.

Their follow-up singles ‘Beyond Salvation’ and ‘Lazarene‘ deepened that vision, showcasing a remarkable range of musical and emotional dynamics.

Earlier this year, the band made history once again with a sold-out performance at York Minster, one of the UK’s most iconic cathedrals. The monumental show saw their sound rise through the vast gothic arches of the Minster, merging the sacred and the extreme in a spellbinding display of light, sound and emotion. The event drew widespread national media attention, with coverage across BBC Look North, ITV News and BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6, underscoring Plague of Angels’ reputation as one of the most ambitious and visionary forces in contemporary metal.

The concept of Organic Metal was born from guitarist Mark Mynett’s collaboration with Leeds Cathedral organist David Pipe, an experiment that bridged the sacred and the extreme. The project’s success, covered by local, national and international media, laid the foundations for Plague of Angels, a band devoted to exploring beauty, darkness and transcendence in sound.

Photography comes courtesy of award-winning photographer John McMurtrie with a full gallery, including striking live shots from the band’s breathtaking performance at York Minster, available here.

Forthcoming live dates:

Vocals – Emilie Nox (Gravity)
Guitar – Mark Mynett (Kill II This)

Drums – Jeff Singer (Kill II This, Paradise Lost & My Dying Bride)
Bass / Piano – Caroline Campbell (formerly Cradle of Filth)

DECIMATOR Return with Spine-Chilling New Single ‘Halloween Sematary’

Aussie heavy/thrash powerhouse Decimator is back, just in time for the spooky season, with their new single “Halloween Sematary”, out today via Wormholedeath.

Equal parts brutal and nostalgic, “Halloween Sematary” pays tribute to two cult classics—John Carpenter’s Halloween and the Ramones’ Pet Sematary—reimagined with Decimator’s raw energy and relentless thrash metal bite. The track captures the band’s trademark heaviness while giving a wicked nod to horror.

About Decimator:

Formed in early 2021, Decimator has undergone a few lineup changes, seeing the band go from strength to strength.

In late 2024, Riley Perry joined the band on bass, bringing a new and even more refined approach to songwriting, having been active in projects such as “Of Flesh” and formerly being part of the thrash metal band Paralysis. Unfortunately, 2025 also saw more changes – but Caiseal Duncan replacing Ethan Reeves on guitar and Ashley Pollard replacing Bon Lowe on drums brought even more fire and ferocity to the band.

Lance Holland-Keen, now the only original member, leads them on, with this single a small taste of the EP due out later this year.

The band are already writing new material for 2026 and playing shows in Sydney – decimating every stage they step onto.

Their debut album, ‘Til The Enemies Are Gone, was recorded in September 2023 and released in October 2024 through Wormholedeath. The record is available now on digital platforms here and on CD here.

Current Lineup

Lance Holland-Keen – guitar/lead vocals
Bon Lowe – drums/backing vox
Coen Winchester – bass/backing vox
Ethan Reeves – guitars/backing vox

Inborn Tendency‘s fifth and final single from their debut album is titled “Flesh Eater.” The track was produced in collaboration with Juho Koskinen, who was also responsible for mixing and mastering the entire album.

“‘Flesh Eater’ marks an important milestone for us, as it’s the final track before the full album release. Although the journey to this point has been long – and in some ways perhaps different from a ‘typical’ album-making process – we’re extremely happy with the result. At this stage, it really feels like things had to happen exactly the way they did. We’re glad we didn’t rush the album, because in the end, it’s the result that matters.

We were debating between a couple of tracks for the final single, but once we received the final mix of ‘Flesh Eater,’ the decision was clear. The track just hits insanely hard – if we may say so ourselves,” says drummer Hugo Tiitinen.

Alongside the new single, the band is also announcing the official release date of their debut album: January 9, 2026. Pre-orders will begin later this year, meaning fans may be able to get their hands on the physical album even before the official release. The band will share more details about the start of pre-sales soon via their social media channels.

“Pre-orders for the album will begin soon, and it’s important to us that those who want it can get the album already this year. We promised the album for this year, and pre-order customers of the physical release will indeed be able to hear it already in December.

The official release date is set for early next year, and we’re really excited – both about the release itself and the upcoming shows. It’s amazing to finally play these new songs live for the first time. We also have an album release show coming up, which will take place in Kuopio on January 31st – the exact venue will be announced later. Stay tuned on social media!”

TEMPLES ON MARS Release New Album “The Last Ship”

London-based alternative progressive rock band Temples on Mars return with their new full-length album — a focused and cohesive collection that expands on the sound they’ve built across their previous releases. Following their self-titled debut and the darker, electronic-driven Parallels V.1, the band’s latest effort shows them at their most refined, exploring new textures while staying true to their core identity.

Recorded between studios in London and Los Angeles, the album features 10 tracks that balance heavy riffs, atmospheric electronics, and melodic hooks. “We’re always creating, so there wasn’t a single lightbulb moment,” says frontman James Donaldson. “This album just happens to be the 10 tracks that felt the most cohesive and represented a real step up from our last record.”

Several songs feature Josh Freese (Foo Fighters, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails) on drums, adding further depth to the record’s sound. Lyrically, the album explores themes of awareness, mortality, and reflection. “Be aware of what’s going on around you — at all levels,” the band notes. “Open your eyes, ask questions, appreciate the moment, and live.”

The Last Ship is available on all digital platforms including Spotify Deezer Apple Music Amazon Music

Tracks like “Sleepwalking into Extinction” and “Daydreamer” have already found success, both breaking into the Radioscope Top 40 Rock Charts in Donaldson’s native New Zealand, while third single “Smile” brings a darker edge to the album’s introspective tone.

Temples on Mars took a deliberate approach to shaping the album’s sound, tuning lower and leaning further into their electronic influences. “Each track was individually inspired,” the band explains. “We even left a few songs off that felt more suited to the next direction we’re heading.”

Production was handled by Darren Carikas and James Donaldson, with drums recorded in both London and Los Angeles. Paul Matthews co-produced and engineered the vocals, and Ted Jensen (Sterling Sound, Nashville) mastered the album.

Having performed at Download UK, Radar Festival, Euroblast, Planet Rock Winter’s End, and completed a headline tour of South Africa, Temples on Mars continue to grow their global following. This release captures a band in motion — heavier, sharper, and more purposeful than ever.

RUOSKA to Release Sixth Album “Kade” in February, New Single ‘Ihtiriekko’ Out Now

2002 formed Finnish industrial metal band Ruoska, will release their sixth studio album next February. Now they have released a new single Ihtiriekko from the upcoming album Kade. Both the single and the album are released worldwide through Inverse Records. The band’s more than three-year hiatus ends with a bang!

Ihtiriekko is perfectly in line with the band’s intense output, and the song’s story is not exactly cheerful either.

“Taken from Finnish folk tales, Ihtiriekko is a powerful and sad story about real-life tragedies that took place in the past, but which today’s listeners can also relate to. In times past, people have sought to explain difficult things through mythology and fantasy in order to find comfort in the midst of often miserable everyday life,” the band explains.

Listen to the single on music services (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal etc.): https://push.fm/fl/ruoska-ihtiriekko

–Composer: Samuli Rimmi
–Arrangement: Samuli Rimmi, Patrik Mennander, Miika Kokkola, Teemu Karppinen
–Lyrics: Samuli Rimmi, Patrik Mennander, Miika Kokkola

All the way from the demo stage of this powerful song, it was clear that it had to be finished.

“The final version came together quite painlessly. Ihtiriekko combines heavy sounds, electronic music, and classical elements. This is one of the latest and most significant songs that was worked on for the upcoming album.”

The band, which hails from Juva, Eastern Finland, and has already racked up nearly 25 million plays on Spotify alone, will also be heading out on an album release tour, which will be announced later.

Ruoska is:
Patrik Mennander (Vocals)
Samuli Rimmi (Guitar, Backing vocals)
Miika Kokkola (Bass, Backing vocals)
Teemu Karppinen (Drums)

SOLENCE Release New Album “Angels Calling” with Video Single ‘Monsters In My Head’

SOLENCE (@solenceofficial) is creating some of the most adventurous music in contemporary music. Based out of Los Angeles and originally hailing from Sweden, they combine electronic music with trailblazing Swedish metal, adding in pop and hip-hop flavors along the way, in uplifting songs that possess a bold outlook on life. The result? A thrilling sound that’s the aural equivalent of riding on the steepest and most winding rollercoaster ever. It’s all evident on their new album ANGELS CALLING, released today (October 31) via Better Noise Music and featuring its latest single/video “Monsters In My Head.” The album is available HERE, listen to it HERE, and watch the video HERE.

“It’s the story of battling with your own thoughts and demons,” says singer Markus Videsäter of the album’s fifth single, “Monsters In My Head.” “The feeling of lying in bed at night and yet again the thoughts are spinning, your old mistakes getting played over and over again. This song also includes a new sound for us—country-inspired acoustic guitar, different tempo, and a chorus that’s impossible to get out of your head. It was super fun writing and working on!”

“So I cross my heart and I hope to die
I have never given up and I won’t start now
Taste so sweet but I won’t back down
Show you all who’s the monster now”
–“Monsters In My Head”

SOLENCE—frontman Markus Videsäter alongside guitarist David Strääf, keyboardist Johan Swärd, and drummer David “Viking” Vikingsson—return on ANGELS CALLING with fresh visuals, a new look, and a retrofitted sound that combines the best of their past with a look into the future for both the group and the genre. “Our music is all about living in the moment and not taking anything for granted, and listening to angels that follow their every move,” Markus points out. “Our music is about making the most of life, relationships, and passion before heaven calls us home.”

Four singles have previously been released to get fans warmed up for today’s release of ANGELS CALLING:

· “Angels Calling” (September 8): Listen HERE and watch the video HERE.
· “Wish You The Worst” (August 15): Listen HERE and watch the video HERE.
· “Dead_Alive” (June 27): Listen HERE and the watch the lyric video HERE.
· “Where Were You..?” (May 13): Listen HERE and watch the lyric video HERE.

All the songs and videos released so far have amassed over 280k views and over 3.5 million streams.

In an early album review, Moshly.com called ANGELS CALLING “…easily Solence’s best work yet.” And about “Dead_Alive,” Glassefactory.com praised, “Using a plethora of sonic elements such as heavy drums, powerful guitar solos and a subtle, yet highly effective bassline to accompany the highly thoughtful lyrics, SOLENCE takes us on a one of a kind journey through their soundscapes.”

Lauded as one of Pandora’s “Rising Rock Artists To Watch In 2023,” SOLENCE have, to date, garnered over 378 million cumulative streams with as many as 862k monthly Spotify listeners and over 100 million video views since their formation in 2012. The band started by releasing heavy renditions of well-known pop hits from the likes of Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, Ed Sheeran, Britney Spears, and Queen before breaking out with their 2019 debut album BROTHERS. It was quickly followed by their sophomore album, DIRECTION, which saw them achieve their first Active Rock radio charting with “Animal In Me” which became SiriusXM Octane’s most-played track in 2020. Octane’s Sr. Director, Music Programming Vincent Usuriello described SOLENCE’s sound as “a dynamic fusion of rock, metal, and pop elements, with powerful vocals, electrifying guitar riffs, and infectious melodies, creating an immersive sonic experience.” In 2021, SOLENCE released their third album, DEAFENING, which showed their range of inspirations from music to anime, gaming, sci-fi, and even philosophy and soon followed with their fourth album HOPE IS A CULT in 2023. Amidst writing new material for SOLENCE, Videsäter and Strääf have lent their songwriting skills to pop acts including Jason Derulo and Bebe Rexha.

SOLENCE will hit the road later this year for a European tour opening for NOTHING MORE, which launches November 7 in Finland, along with Catch Your Breath and Ankor. General tickets are available now on their official website.
