Guitar player / Singer Masi Hukari backgrounds the song: “Deicidal Tendencies was the last song we wrote together for our upcoming debut release. (Never Meant to Save Us 20.8.2021) The song came together really quickly once our bassist Pekka Johansson showed us such a killer opening riff that we instantly went in to a collective windmill mosh mode!
Even though the title is tongue in cheek wordplay of two bands that are influential to us the topic of the song is pretty serious. I grew up in the Middle East in a very religiously charged situation and got to see how crazy and dangerous things can get when some one believes that they are more right than everybody else and justify atrocities with faith. Experiencing war is a great way to turn a young man in to a sceptic.”
To coincide with their upcoming tour dates through the US, the UK and Europe, BLACK STONE CHERRY have announced the transparent vinyl reissue of 2016s Kentucky, released 10th September (Europe) / 24th September (US).
It has been five years since the band released their 5th studio album, which at the time reached their highest ever charting in France, The Netherlands, Belgium and Ireland, as well as charting #5 in the UK charts, #1 UK’s Rock & Metal Albums Chart, #15 US Top Current Album Chart, #1 US Hard Music Chart, #13 in Austria, #14 Switzerland, and #21 in Germany
Named after the band’s home state, the new album was a ‘back to their roots’ affair, with the four-piece working with the same engineer in the same ‘local’ studio, Barrick Recording, where they crafted their eponymous debut. Many of the songs from the album have gone on to be live favourites such as “The Rambler,”“Cheaper To Drink Alone,”“Shakin’ My Cage” and “Soul Machine.”
As you prepare to be shaken to the bones on their upcoming dates, get hold of this beautiful piece of vinyl to get the party started.
Brazil’s fast-rising metalcore band APRIL 21ST have just revealed a new music video and single for the song “Decision“. The video was produced by Lucas Akira. “Decision” is the second single from the band’s new EP entitled Courage Is Born from Fear which is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 10, 2021 via Eclipse Records. Watch it right now on YouTube:
“Decision is my favorite song from the new EP” says guitarist Herbert. “The morale of the song is that there is a solution for everything, but that solution cannot be realized unless a decision is made to change the future. Sometimes it is easy to make these decisions, and sometimes it is very difficult. For the video, we wanted to show people with a variety of emotions such as anger, despair, or sadness. They all have something in common which is the need to make a big decision in their lives. They don’t know if the result will be good or bad, bring pleasure or pain, victory or defeat. They are stuck in a cycle of uncertainty. Eventually, they must all decide, if they should ignore the decision and continue their struggle with uncertainty, or if they should break this vicious cycle of indecision in their lives and take a chance on improving their lives.“
The band’s new EP album Courage Is Born from Fear consists of five intense and honest songs. The EP was produced by Bruno Barros at the renowned Sonasterio studios in the beautiful mountains of Minas Gerais, Brazil, mixed by Arthur Damasio, and mastered by Joseph McQueen at Sparrow Sound (As I Lay Dying, Bad Wolves, Light the Torch). The cover art for the album was designed by Lucas Akira.
The first single “Healing my Wounds” contains a harmony element that redefines what a verse riff might be, while the second single “Decision”, spotlights the fastest and tightest bass drum hummingbird 16ths in a blast beat that we ever might have the pleasure of hearing (and feeling right down to the marrow). “Struggling to Break This Cycle” explodes through our headphones with enough drive and funk to satisfy the most serious of metal freaks, and “Stand up and Scream” features a platform guitar solo that is the epitome of melody and speed in a glorious hybrid.

Following the critically acclaimed latest album South of Heaven (2020), today post-punk artist FOTOCRIME announced the release of his third full-length record, out on August 27th via Profound Lore.
Founded by Louisville, Kentucky based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Ryan Patterson, on his third studio album Heart of Crime, Patterson continues to explore what he refers to as “electric Southern romanticism.” Featuring 11 tracks of moody and electrifying post-punk with a healthy dose of industrial and EBM thrown in for good measure, FOTOCRIME‘s brand new release is not only an album that throbs with pulsing synths, hammering drum machines, and economic guitar hooks, but also a release that may be FOTOCRIME‘s most personal offering to date.
“This is by far the most direct and personal thing I’ve ever done in that 99% of everything on the recording is me,” Patterson says. “It’s the first album I’ve ever recorded and mixed myself.”, and you would never know that Heart of Crime is his first venture into engineering an album on his own! Where 2020’s South of Heaven found Patterson’s songs supplemented by Steve Albini-recorded live drums, a different approach was required for its follow-up. The worldwide pandemic broke out right as Patterson kicked off the South of Heaven tour cycle with a string of shows in Mexico. Consequently, Heart of Crime is the austere response to quarantine life.
On Heart of Crime, we hear the earnestness of the heartland fused with Patterson’s ties to the asceticism of the urban underground, like a post-punk Leonard Cohen. We’re also hearing an aspect of FOTOCRIME that’s a response and reaction to the times and available resources. It’s a record that yearns for a world outside our doors, that begs to be blasted on a massive PA in a seedy nightclub or a black-walled venue. It sounds steeped in isolation and reflection, but it reminds us of the communal experience of getting lost in a sea of people while the sound of a bass drum kicks our chests.
In support of the upcoming new album, FOTOCRIME just shared a brand new music video for the electrifying track “Delicate Prey”.
