Legendary guitarist STEVE HACKETT, releases his new studio rock album Surrender of Silence on 10th September 2021, via Inside Out Music. The album features 11 new songs as Steve has been working hard through Lockdown and, for the first time, has completed two studio albums for release within the same year!

Today he launches the video for ‘Wingbeats’, the first single from the new album. Watch the Paul Gosling directed video here:

Surrender of Silence is released on 10th September 2021 as a Limited Edition CD+Blu-ray Mediabook in hardcover slipcase, Standard CD Jewel case, Gatefold 2LP+CD & LP-Booklet and Digital Album via Inside Out Music. Pre-order now here: https://stevehackett.lnk.to/SurrenderOfSilence

Hot on the heels of his classical-acoustic travelogue Under A Mediterranean Sky, which was released in January and hit Number 2 in the UK Classical Album Chart, Surrender of Silence is a further exploration of Hackett’s love of world music, discovering different sounds, moods and textures to deliver a rock album of extraordinary variety, power and beauty.

As with Under A Mediterranean Sky, Surrender of Silence was also recorded during Lockdown and, again, Hackett has called upon some of his musical friends from across the world to contribute. Hackett’s regular touring band of Roger King (keyboards, programming and orchestral arrangements), Rob Townsend (sax, clarinet), Jonas Reingold (bass), Nad Sylvan (vocals) and Craig Blundell (drums) are supplemented by Phil Ehart and Nick D’Virgilio (drums), the vocal talents of Amanda Lehmann, Durga and Lorelei McBroom, Christine Townsend (violin, viola), Malik Mansurov (tar) and Sodirkhon Ubaidulloev (dutar).

This new album is full-on electric…

“Lockdown cobwebs are blown away in one fell-swoop here!” says Steve Hackett. “With the monster rhythm section of Jonas, Craig, Nick and Phil along with Rob’s soaring sax and bass clarinet, Nad, Amanda and myself on vocals, Roger’s darkly powerful organ and my guitar, we plunge full-pelt into that wild release of energy.”

Our journey takes us from the classical orchestrations of Russia (Natalia) to the plains of Africa (Wingbeats) to mysterious Eastern shores (Shanghai To Samarkand), all via the ocean’s depths (Relaxation Music for Sharks (featuring feeding frenzy)). The Devil’s Cathedral pools the talents of Hackett’s entire touring band and features King’s atmospheric Gothic organ and a powerhouse rhythm display from Blundell and Reingold.

Hackett’s vocals have never been bettered and his duet with Amanda Lehmann adds emotion to Scorched Earth a lament for the environmental horrors facing our planet. Throughout Hackett’s guitars add a rich tapestry of colour with soaring solos and intricate weaving melodies.

“It’s a ‘no holds barred’ album,” adds Hackett, “riding that wave, unleashing those demons, dreams and nightmares, all crashing together over the shore.

“I enjoyed the power of this album allowing my guitar to scream in joy and rage… and once again flying across those oceans to distant lands. It’s terrific to connect creatively with musicians from far flung places, particularly when we’ve all been unable to meet. We all have a voice in our cacophony of sound and we cry out together in the Surrender of Silence!”

Steve Hackett “Surrender of Silence” track listing:

Chart-breaking German folk rock institution SUBWAY TO SALLY demonstrate their exceptional live presence once more, carving a unique stage experience in stone with their new BluRay/DVD/CD release, Eisheilige Nacht – Back to Lindenpark (#6 GER album charts).

In an intimate setting, the Potsdam based unit drops a colorful bunch of songs taken from their multifaceted discography and invites its listeners to be part of an exciting adventure, offering some great surprises and performances never heard or seen – till now! One of those highlights embodies the new live-video for the emotional track “Kein Meer zu Tief” (engl. “No Ocean Too Deep”), a song originally by German artist MajorVoice, in which SUBWAY TO SALLY are accompanied by the bass/baritone vocalist.

SUBWAY TO SALLY on the performance:
“At the Eisheilige Nacht 2017 we had Mono Inc. as a guest, who, in addition, had a guest themselves be part of their show. Someone we didn’t know till then. A really tall man with an equally great voice was asked on stage during their set. That’s how we got to know MajorVoice and immediately invited him to be part of our HEY! tour 2019. In the meantime, we have become close friends. Unfortunately our planned continuation of the joint HEY! tour in 2020 couldn’t take place. His appearance at Eisheilige Nacht – Back to Lindenpark is far too small a consolation, but at least it reminds us of better times and stirs the anticipation on what we can do together musically in the future.”

Watch the live video for “Kein Meer zu Tief” (feat. MajorVoice) HERE:

In 2020, SUBWAY TO SALLY returned to Lindenpark and – supported by many great artists like Chris Harms (Lord Of The Lost), Feuerschwanz, Schandmaul, Saltatio Mortis, MajorVoice and Patty Gurdy – created an extraordinary lockdown live experience with Eisheilige Nacht – Back to Lindenpark. In an intimate setting, the recording starts with “Messias” and “Königin der Käfer” from the band’s latest chart-breaking full-length, Hey! (DE #5). SUBWAY TO SALLY then continue to not only travel through their own discography with songs like eerie “Unsterblich”, animated “Tanz auf dem Vulkan” and live-sensation “Grausame Schwester”, but also present a bunch of enchanting features as well: Don’t miss when highly talented Birgit Muggenthaler-Schmack and Saskia Maria Forkert (Schandmaul) join SUBWAY TO SALLY for Schandmaul’s “Dein Anblick” and a premier version of “Kleid aus Rosen”, or when the band sets the exceptional stage on fire for an explosive performance with Saltatio Mortis on their hit “Sie tanzt allein” – just to name a selection.

SUBWAY TO SALLY on Eisheilige Nacht – Back to Lindenpark:
“After 11 years of our “EISHEILIGE NACHT-tradition”, we definitely did not want that 2020 will be seen as a red “X” in the history of our festival series. So we thought about how we could provide our fans with the EISHEILIGE NACHT feeling at their homes, when we weren’t allowed to tour ourselves. An online concert wasn’t enough for us: EISHEILIGE NACHT is not only about meeting friends, but also being a highlight of the year – with several befriended bands performing live on stage.

We wanted to implement all of this in one experience. We wanted to record this very special event where the EISHEILIGE NACHT originally began. Instead of playing a concert in an empty hall, we used the size of the hall, lined up in a circle and placed our guest musicians into our midst. This created new insights that have never been seen before in any SUBWAY TO SALLY concert film! We are very pleased that we can now, as requested by countless fans, record this event for eternity as a special concert film! “

AT THE GATES: “The Nightmare Of Being” Album Out Now; Release Video for Album’s Title-Track; Special Album Stream Event Today

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES released yesterday their newest studio album “The Nightmare Of Being” worldwide via Century Media Records.

To enhance the album’s street date, check out the title-track “The Nightmare Of Being” in a video-clip directed by Patric Ullaeus / www.rEvolver.se (Arch Enemy, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, etc.) here:

AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant commented as follows: “ One of the key tracks on the album, this one is really dark and haunting, with some classic old school AT THE GATES harmonies thrown in. I guess some of you have already read up on the concept of the album, this one is the introduction to said concept, introducing the main idea that mankind’s consciousness is the ghost of our nightmares, the plague that drives us to our own extinction. I am really happy that Patric Ullaeus got the chance to, once again, interpret the dark themes of our music with his video. He really gave this a special feeling, which I think goes really well with the theme of the abyss of the human soul. Today you can also, finally, listen to the whole album! Dive in! It is, as said before, the most rich, cinematic, textured, layered, progressive and dynamic album we have ever written. Thanks for listening!”
