Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES continue to promote their acclaimed latest studio album “The Nightmare Of Being” by launching a new video clip for the track “Garden Of Cyrus” today.
Created by long-time collaborator Costin Chioreanu / Twilight13Media, the clip for the outstanding track “Garden Of Cyrus” can now be seen below.
AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant comments about the video as follows: “For our latest video, “Garden Of Cyrus”, we have once again chosen to work with our long-time partner Costin Chioreanu. And I think it is safe to say that this time he has truly outdone himself! It is a different song, at least in death metal terms, and of course it needed a different idea for the video. Once again, we let Costin do his own interpretation of the music and the lyrics, and he has taken us on a real psychedelic journey with this one. I think this is the song on our latest album “The Nightmare Of Being” that raised the most eyebrows in the metal community. And I am proud that we as a band can still surprise people, adding another dimension to our sound, without losing the essence of what AT THE GATES is. Enjoy!”
The video supports the recent announcement of a massive tour package featuring In Flames, AT THE GATES, Imminence and Orbit Culture running between November 12th and December 17th, 2022 across all of Europe.
Tomas Lindberg Redant added the following comment about the upcoming tour with In Flames: “We are very excited about finally, being able to play in front of our European fans in support of our latest album “The Nightmare Of Being”. This time we will hit the road with our long-time friends In Flames. It’s such a weird fact that we have actually never toured together, although we are from the same town! So this will be a great opportunity to experience “The Gothenburg sound”, and it is awesome to be part of such a strong package. We can´t wait to get out there again!”
Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES continue to promote their much acclaimed latest studio album “The Nightmare Of Being” (Released worldwide via Century Media Records) by launching a new video clip for the track “Cosmic Pessimism” today.
Check out the video directed by Costin Chioreanu / Twilight 13 Media here:
AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant comments about the outstanding “Cosmic Pessimism” song as follows: “’Cosmic Pessimism’ is one of the central tracks of the new record. Not only drawing the title from the Eugene Thacker book of the same name, the lyrics actually are written by Eugene himself. This is something I am very proud of, the collaboration with one of the central figures when it comes to modern day pessimism and the idea of how it correlates to cosmic horror. It is a suffocatingly strict and repetitive song, and it displays the mood of the lyrics brilliantly, in my opinion. AT THE GATES have always been fans of anything eclectic and extreme, and we are finally at a moment in our career where we feel comfortable lifting in some of these, more avantgarde influences within the at the gates trademark sound. Minimalistic neo classical influences here clash with the deutsche rock/”kraut” and no wave sounds that we love so much. The video is once again shot by Costin, our longtime collaborator, and, once again, he managed to add extra depth and texture to the music and lyrics.”
Most recently, AT THE GATES have also launched a four-part lyrical talk as “Track-By-Track” video series with Decibel Magazine, where Tomas Lindberg Redant expands upon the literature and philosophy that underpin “The Nightmare of Being”. Watch it here:

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES released yesterday their newest studio album “The Nightmare Of Being” worldwide via Century Media Records.
To enhance the album’s street date, check out the title-track “The Nightmare Of Being” in a video-clip directed by Patric Ullaeus / www.rEvolver.se (Arch Enemy, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, etc.) here:
AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant commented as follows: “One of the key tracks on the album, this one is really dark and haunting, with some classic old school AT THE GATES harmonies thrown in. I guess some of you have already read up on the concept of the album, this one is the introduction to said concept, introducing the main idea that mankind’s consciousness is the ghost of our nightmares, the plague that drives us to our own extinction. I am really happy that Patric Ullaeus got the chance to, once again, interpret the dark themes of our music with his video. He really gave this a special feeling, which I think goes really well with the theme of the abyss of the human soul. Today you can also, finally, listen to the whole album! Dive in! It is, as said before, the most rich, cinematic, textured, layered, progressive and dynamic album we have ever written. Thanks for listening!”

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES are today debuting the third single/video off their upcoming album “The Nightmare Of Being”, to be released July 2nd, 2021 via Century Media Records.
Check out the epic track “The Fall Into Time” in a video-clip directed by longtime AT THE GATES co-operator Costin Chioreanu / Twilight13Media (Arch Enemy, Grave, Borknagar, etc.) here:
AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant commented on the single “The Fall Into Time” and its video as follows:
“Hello everybody! As you might have already guessed, this album is our most ambitious effort yet, including a lot of different orchestrations and new takes on arrangements, etc.
This track, “The Fall into Time” is one of the centerpieces of the album. It is big, demanding and epic. We have always found it intriguing to compose songs like these, think “Neverwhere”, “Primal Breath”, “The Night Eternal” and “Daggers of Black Haze”. It is heavy, mean and dark, as well as almost cinematic in its thematic approach. I have always said that the AT THE GATES listener wants to be challenged and that you hopefully all are as curious as we are when it comes to exploring new musical territory. This song is one of those moments… Enjoy!”
“For the video for this more adventurous track we chose to work again with our dear friend and co-conspirator Costin Chioreanu, as we thought that it required a more arty and avantgarde approach. I was, as always, very intrigued to see what he would come up with, as he has a deep understanding of what AT THE GATES is about. He did not disappoint, and this video is a perfect complement to a song like this. Costin went all the way with this one. Truly inspiring!”

Today Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES are debuting the second single/video “The Paradox” off their upcoming album “The Nightmare Of Being”, to be released July 2nd, 2021 via Century Media Records.
Check out the track “The Paradox” in a video-clip directed by Patric Ullaeus / www.rEvolver.se (Arch Enemy, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, etc.) here:
AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant commented about “The Paradox” and its video as follows:
“Humanity is the biggest paradox. We as humans always want justification for the big things: death, the meaning of life, etc. Our knowledge of being mortals drives us away from being human, hence the paradox. We invent defense mechanisms to protect us from the thought of death, religion, different –isms, etc.
This first time our producer Jens Bogren heard this song, he said “This is a monster!”. It touches on some core parts of the At The Gates sound, but builds further, on top of that, some classic NWOBHM/Mercyful Fate vibes thrown in for good measure. It is a death metal song, but has its progressive moments. Enjoy!
This was a very fun video to record, as we tried to create most of the “special effects” in an analog way, and not just to be added in the editing. Hence we were drenched in tons of crushed coal and soil, which took over a week and a lot of showers to get out of our hair, haha. We really wanted an oppressive, apocalyptic emotion for this video. And Patric Ullaeus, being the master that he is, went all the way to make that happen!”
