Since their debut, Hangok (1994), the four-piece around singer/guitarist Zoltán “Zoli” Farkas has regularly delivered new power to their devotees. With their return to form on Reborn, EKTOMORF impressively showcase their undeniable thrash metal power. Today, they’ve released a new video for their single “Fear Me” off Reborn!

Guitarist & Singer Zoltán “Zoli” Farkas about “Fear Me”:

“One more video from the Reborn album, dedicated to the EKTOMORF family across the globe! I hope this will make your day! “Fear Me“ is tight and heavy riffing, with some amazing harmonies in the mid part. I send this song to those in my life who deserve it on a maximum level! You’re welcome to do the same.”

Watch the Music Video for “Fear Me ”HERE:

Only three years after the release of their chart-breaking full-length, Fury (2018), Reborn ignites a blazing fire with its heavy sound and harsh lyrics that will burn any genre limitations to the ground. Their 15th studio album breathes the spirit of the “Big Four” – Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth – while at the same time, beginning a completely independent new chapter of EKTOMORF.

Morten Veland (SIRENIA, MORTEMIA + founder of TRISTANIA) has released an official lyric video for the song ‘Death Turns a Blind Eye‘, the second single from ‘The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions’. The song features Marcela Bovio (MaYaN, DARK HORSE WHITE HORSE) on guest vocals, watch below!

After 11 years of silence Norwegian multi-instrumentalist, producer and artist Morten Veland finally found the time to re-activate his solo project Mortemia once more, this time with a brand new concept. ‘The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions’ is a series of singles that will be released on a monthly basis, each song featuring a well known and highly profiled singer in metal. Marcela Bovio is a well known name in the genre as she has already enriched bands like Stream of Passion, Ayreon, MaYaN, The Gentle Storm, Dark Horse White Horse with her stellar vocal performances. With Morten and Marcela teaming up for the song ‘Death Turns a Blind Eye’ the outcome has turned out to be something extraordinaire that surely will be appreciated by both artists fan bases, but surely by many others as well.

Morten Veland: I am proud and honored to introduce Marcela Bovio (MaYaN, DARK HORSE WHITE HORSE) as my special guest for ‘The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions’. The second song is entitled ‘Death Turns a Blind Eye’, and will be available on all digital platforms on the 18th of June 2021. I have known Marcela for more than a decade now and she is definitely one of the top shelf singers in the genre, she has an impressive vocal range, great interpretation, a present nerve and an amazing technique. Working on this project so far has been an amazing journey for me, and I feel truly privileged to have Marcela onboard this project. I am really looking forward to sharing this song with you all.

Marcela Bovio: I’ve known Morten for quite a few years now, we met officially when touring together back in 2009. I’ve always been impressed by his musical vision and songwriting talent, he writes amazing songs with beautiful melodies. And if you know me you know that I’m all about the beautiful melodies! Since we hadn’t spoken in quite some time his invitation came a bit as a surprise, but it was of course very flattering; and after listening to the song I was sold! ‘Death Turns a Blind Eye’ is a wonderful track, just like I would expect from Morten; it has an amazing chorus with some nice vocal layers. I’m really happy with how it came out, and I hope both Mortemia and Marcela Bovio fans enjoy it as well 🙂

August 20, 2021, will see Swedish old school death metal act, DAEMONICUS, return with their third studio album, entitled Eschaton, on Black Lion Records. It’s the band’s first album in nine long years.

DAEMONICUS burst into the extreme and death metal scene in 2006, with several demo EPs and two highly acclaimed full length records to date, the four- piece also took the stages by storm and toured with acts such as Christ Agony and Groteskh. Several line- up changes may have hit the band hard, but did not stop founding members PO Wester and Jörgen Persson to continously writing song material. With a new and strong line- up backed by bassist Martin Pudas and David Ekevärn on drums, this summer DAEMONICUS will return with their most confident and brutal work to date:Eschaton features nine razor- sharp and blistering tracks, showcasing a crushing blend of modern and old school death metal sound, yet it remains true to DAEMONICUS‘ core at the same time as progressing both as musicians and as a band. While the record marks the beginning of a new era for them, DAEMONICUS have recorded a masterpiece of Swedish death metal, and one that will proove to stand the test of time.

Give ear, as they just unleashed the album opening track of Eschaton, alongside a brand new lyric video for ‘To Poison Everything’! Watch the clip here:

“To Poison Everything is the opening track from our concept album that is “Eschaton”. A story that takes the listener through all the horrid events that man has caused one another in the name of religion thoughout the years, “ the band comments. “Starting off with the summoning of a higher power to nourish humanities need to believe in something bigger than themselves. Religion manifests in the shape of “The Demon” and the story lets the listener witness the events through it’s eyes.”

Eschaton was mixed and mastered by Ronnie Björnström at Enhanced Audio Productions, and will be released on August 20, 2021 through Black Lion Records. The album pre- sale has just started at THIS LOCATION!

British prog metal mainstays THRESHOLD have entered Thin Ice Studios in Surrey, England to record the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2017 album ‘Legends Of The Shires’.

Guitarist Karl Groom comments: “After not seeing the rest of the band for the longest time I can recall, it’s great to be spending time together making music again. A new THRESHOLD album is always special for the band, but this will mean a lot after recent events.”

Following the release of ‘Legends Of The Shires’, THRESHOLD toured the album across 18 different countries before their touring plans were put to a halt by the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘Legends Of The Shires’ saw the return of vocalist Glynn Morgan, for the first time since the band’s 1994 record ‘Psychedelicatessen’. In regards to rejoining the band, and recording the follow up to ‘Legends…’, Glynn explains: “It’s an absolute buzz meeting up with the guys again and totally exciting to be getting going again. The whole ‘Legends’ journey was just so cool and it was awesome to be part of it, I just can’t wait to do it again!”

All of the songs for the new album have now been written and arranged, and the band are currently in the process of tracking their final performances.

Keyboard player Richard West concludes: “It’s all coming together beautifully and sounding better than ever. If ‘Legends Of The Shires’ had a slightly darker, moodier older brother then this would be it.”

THRESHOLD‘s as yet untitled new album will be released via Nuclear Blast Records in the first half of 2022.

CEDARS Release Teaser for New Video ‘Formerly Known’, out July 12th

Texas’ electronic rockers CEDARS released their new album “Cowards” on June 11th, via Gruene Records. Today the band has revealed a teaser for their next video ‘Formerly Known‘, coming out on July 12th.

The band on ‘Formerly Known’:
“‘Formerly Known’ is a story of escape and redemption. Making this video was a way to reclaim pain and transmute it into something powerful. Drawing from past experiences, the Formerly Known video was crafted to create a conversation about something that’s happening every moment around the globe, but no one wants to talk about. Watch the full video 7.12.21.”

Watch the teaser here:

Just recently the band revealed the concept of the “Cowards” album:
“Cowards, at its core, is an album about choosing yourself, even in the face of great consequences. So often we find ourselves in situations or systems that ask us to minimize ourselves or our desires or even our needs, but there comes a point where we have to make some really tough choices: do we continue to support the system that is crushing us and building itself on our backs, or do we honour our own still, small voice?
The album is the story of finding ourselves in a season of life where those choices were very pressing, and very loud, with very real consequences. There are times when death is necessary to make room for the new, the better, and sometimes the knife is in our own hands. The album, though full of heavy moments, is also woven with bright strands of hope and light, the kind that can only come after great loss and struggle. How quietly we go to war.”

CEDARS is an electronic rock band from central Texas whose music incorporates the DIY ethos of bands like The Pixies and PJ Harvey, the haunting atmospheres of Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, and the infectious grooves of MuteMath. CEDARS is more than just a band: it’s is a vision of community, a community driven by the idea that beauty can save the world. Led by longtime friends Sandeigh Kennedy and Drew Heaton, they blend industrial and organic textures, drawing together disparate elements to marry complex sonic landscapes with compelling stories. Gritty synths and wispy vocals; hard hitting beats and delicate textures are the tools they use to tell powerful, authentic stories that explore truth and beauty.
