Tokyo based “Samurais from Hell” SURVIVE – active in the world for 20+ years – will unleash their first special streaming performance “SURVIVE LIVE AT DEATH VALLEY”, on June 12th and will remain available until June 15th! With numerous gigs home and abroad under their belt, SURVIVE continued to expand their base in spite of the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Last summer they released their first digital single “The Road to Hell is Paved by Goodwill”. In addition, on YouTube, they have streamed live talk sessions of all members, as well as playthrough videos of guitar and drums.

And finally, they are streaming a live performance! Entitled “SURVIVE LIVE AT DEATH VALLEY”, the event will showcase the band at a magnificent setting of a 50-meter precipitous cliff. With the beauty constantly next do death, the location radiates the energy of wild nature, precisely creating the atmosphere of “death valley”.

Instead of “live streaming”, the performance will be pre-recorded, edited and go through production before getting streamed. The band is right in the making of the full-length video right now. NEMO on vocal/guitar says:
“In the current circumstances where is has become difficult to actually experience our sound live at venues, we decided to do this because we wanted to offer a special experience for our fans, something different from our usual gigs, by streaming a thoroughly produced visual and audio work of art.”

The performance will feature eight songs including “HUMAN MISERY” from 2015 and the latest single “The Road to Hell is Paved by Goodwill”, along with the behind-the-scenes documentary footage of the dress rehearsal and an interview with the band.

Tokyo’s Thrash Heroes SURVIVE – active in the world for over 20 years – have forged their own indelible path within the jmetal scene. It was back in 1998, when former Death File guitarist and mastermind Nemo decided to form a thrash metal band of his own which soon became the juggernaut known as SURVIVE. Over the next two decades the band have played many big festivals (Loud Park, Beast Fest, Multiplex-motorbike event, Korean Live Rock, Formoz Festival, Asia Metal Festival, Dongducheon Rock Festival, Trendkill Extreme Feast, etc) and toured all over the world with acts such as Behemoth, United, Killswitch Engage, Dope, Pulling Teeth, Testament, Outrage, Anthrax, Hatebleed, Napalm Death, Amon Amarth, Venom Inc, At The Gates, to name just a few, cementing their place in Japanese metal history. Still going strong, SURVIVE‘s latest album “Immortal Warriors” was released to the Japanese market on September 12th, 2018 and a year later, on September 24th 2019, the album is out worldwide via Sliptrick Records. SURVIVE have lost none of their verve and “Immortal Warriors” is an absolute must for fans of this fantastic, often overlooked band.

ALCATRAZZ Release Brand New Single/Video “Turn Of The Wheel”

ALCATRAZZ, the Los Angeles-based iconic heavy metal band, has released its new single “Turn of the Wheel” today via Silver Lining Music. The new album featuring original members Jimmy Waldo and Gary Shea, along with new vocalist Doogie White, drummer Mark Benquechea, and guitarist Joe Stump will be released in the fall of 2021. Pre-order will begin on July 23rd.

Vocalist Doogie White comments:

“Turn of the Wheel’ was the first song we wrote together. When I heard the riff and the groove, I thought HERE WE GO! From that moment, it was all hands on deck to do the best album we could. ‘Turn of the Wheel,’ as a complete RAWK tune works brilliantly. We spend so much time wondering about how the mistakes we made yesterday could be made better tomorrow that we forget about today. Today is what we have. Yesterday is gone, and we may not have tomorrow.”

Formed in 1983, Alcatrazz became famous for its blend of melodic and progressive rock and for introducing guitar hero’s Yngwie J. Malmsteen and Steve Vai. Emerging in 1983 with No Parole from Rock ‘n’ Roll, which featured the hit “Island in the Sun,” the band continued building popularity in 1985 with their sophomore effort, Disturbing the Peace, which contained the hit, “God Blessed Video.” The band issued one more studio LP, 1986’s Dangerous Games, before ceasing operations the following year. The band regrouped and released Born Innocent in 2020, their first studio album containing all-new material since 1986.

DATOG Release New Single + Video ‘Every Heart Is Burning’

As the saying goes, “All good things come in threes!” After the huge response to the first video “Where The Angels Fly” in September 2020 and an equally great reception of the follow up “Face Of A Stranger” in March 2021, DATOG, the new project built around singer Udo Dirkschneider and his former Accept colleagues Peter Baltes (bass) and Stefan Kaufmann (guitar), plus the unforgetable U.D.O. guitarist Mathias Dieth, as well as Udo’s son Sven Dirkschneider  (drums) and singer Manuela Bibert, these musicians are culminating at the highest of levels. “Every Heart Is Burning” is the name of the band’s new and third song to be released on 28thMay 2021. Compared to its two predecessors, its a touch harder but just as melodic and catchy. Apart from the charismatic lead vocals of Dirkschneider, Baltes and Bibert and the anthemic chorus, Dieth’s magnificent and rousing guitar solo is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the song, which, according to its title, is all about love and affection, says Stefan Kaufmann, who produced the songs. “Even though “Every Heart Is Burning” shows the heavy side of DATOG, all three numbers swim in stylistically similar waters and would certainly have fit on the U.D.O. classic album “Faceless World” back in the day”, remarked Stefan.

MOTIVE BLACK Release Music Video “Broken”

Los Angeles-based MOTIVE BLACK is the modern metal brainchild of vocalist Elana Justin, a project that has been a long time coming. Graduating from the bar band circuit in New York, Elana seized the opportunity to move to Los Angeles in 2018 to work on new music. A stranger in a strange land, she found herself immersed in the local scene and performing on open mic nights at the iconic Viper Room. The LA music community welcomed her, connections and friends were made, which eventually led to a collaboration with Grammy winning guitarist / producer Nick Rowe (Bloodsimple, Vampire Weekend). The duo reworked a song from Elana’s former New York band, taking the music in a heavier direction, and MOTIVE BLACK was born.

Today the band released their first videoclip and single “Broken” through AFM – presenting a mixture of grooving alternative rock and crushing modern metal that countersinks its way into your ear canal. When listening closer after rocking out, Elana’s both powerful and fragile charismatic voice gets deep.

Furthermore the following people have been involved in the production:
– Mixed by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Korn, Papa Roach).
– Featuring Ray Luzier (Korn) on drums
– Featuring Marcos Curiel (P.O.D.) on guitars

“‘Broken’ is a song that came together when we were taking a break from writing the song we were actually working on,” says Elana. “I get to go on a little journey singing it, which is always fun. The idea behind the song is about breaking down walls. It’s a song based on truth. It’s about being afraid to take risks because you work so hard to protect yourself. I think a lot of people can relate to that.”

For the future, Elana’s goal is to turn MOTIVE BLACK into a full band, both in the interest of touring and future work on new music as they move forward. In the meantime, she is set to unleash no less than four singles from MOTIVE BLACK between May 2021 and January 2022, all of them with rock solid staying power.

“It’s interesting to be signed,” says Elana says of joining the AFM Records family. “I don’t have a following because MOTIVE BLACK is a brand new project, so the music must have spoken to someone at the label. Hopefully that sort of interest will pull me through.”
