Polish heretics BEHEMOTH have today unveiled a sumptuous and visceral new video for “Shadows Ov Ea Cast Upon Golgotha”, a track taken from last summer’s 4-track A Forest EP.

The video, produced by longtime Behemoth collaborators Grupa 13, brings to life some of the spectacular artwork by renowned Polish artist and photographer Sylwia Makris, featured on the band’s much lauded 2018 album, I Loved You At Your Darkest. Check out the clip here:

Behemoth front-man Nergal informs us: “‘Shadows Ov Ea Cast Upon Golgotha’ is the final piece of the puzzle to complete the ‘ILYAYD‘ cycle. An amazing album campaign for Behemoth, and this is its grand send off! Once again, we collaborated with Grupa 13 and created a very cinematic script and vision. There are numerous references linking this new video and our previous videos for ‘God=Dog’ and other ‘ILYAYD‘ videos. It’s all high-end, unseen footage and has a cool and intriguing story running through it. And Legions, we have a busy end to the year and we HOPE to see many of you in the Fall on The European Siege with Arch Enemy, Carcass and Unto Others. Regardless, prepare yourselves for some monumental announcements to come over the next 12 months!”

See below for “The European Siege” tour dates; tickets are on sale now at: behemoth.pl

Its intricate, blasphemous artwork was showcased in a number of special gallery events across the globe. Purchase or stream I Loved You At Your Darkest at: behemoth.lnk.to/ILYAYD

KING DIAMOND Guitarist Andy LaRocque Says He is Aiming To Have A More Organic Feel on Upcoming Studio Album

Jimmy Kay and Former Anthrax singer Neil Turbin from Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke to KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy LaRocque. LaRocque gave The Metal Voice his top 6 King Diamond Albums as well as checked in regards to the upcoming King Diamond Album as well as talked his production work with other band at his Studio, Sonic Train Studio

Any news on the upcoming King Diamond studio album?
“During Covid 19 we have been working on and writing for King Diamond, I know people have been saying it takes forever but yeah it does. We want to have the best material when we pick out the good songs before we start recording them. Our goal is to go out on the road again  when all this Covid stuff is over with but before that we need to have an album out there. We got some pressure yes. King has got the basic lines of the story already in his mind and I have 4-5 songs that are possible for the next album. I know King has got tons of riffs. As soon as he sits down and gets it down on tape it’s going to go fast. “

Did Covid lock down postpone things?
“Covid was difficult because we had a few shows booked at 6the time it started, it came like a shock for all of us I believe, we were kind of paralyzed in the beginning and then we tried to make the best out of it and that was just to sit down and write riffs. Yeah we got a little paralyzed with all this happening we just tried to adapt to the new situation and make new plans for the future.”

What would be your vision for the new album?
“Melodies of course, super important, without melodies there is no music. I am also envisioning a more organic sound on the album. If you look back to the older albums, when Mikkey (Dee) played, a little up and down in tempos, that makes it dynamic and also organic. So that is one thing I would like to hear on the next album an organic feel. The drummer is a really important thing and I know that Matt Thomson (Drummer) is the right guy to do it.”

Australian deathcore quintet TO THE GRAVE have released a lyric video for ‘Death By A Thousand Cuts’, taken from their new album, Epilogue, out now via Unique Leader Records.

Vocalist Dane Evans comments: “The slow process of slicing, the lingering of death until it dies.
This song is both an introspective response to appeals to futility from those unwilling to act and a depiction of the looming collapse of systematic slaughter. We each have a part to play in how the world ends up and this song analyzes both sides of the blood-stained coin.”

To The Grave‘s objective has always been to create sonically and thematically heavy music, charged with a grim, confronting message. Featuring their entire self-released debut album Global Warning, plus seven new songs, Epilogue is a huge 19 tracks of intense brutality.

After releasing the No Lives Matter extended play and touring Australia relentlessly with the likes of Alpha Wolf, Justice For The Damned and Gravemind, To The Grave put themselves firmly on the global metal map in 2019 with Global Warning. Closing 2019 as main support for Vulvodynia on their Australian run and opening a show for Cattle Decapitation elevated them further, earning them sold out headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

July 2nd 2021 will see German black metal act FRIISK to release their highly anticipated debut full length album, titled “…un torügg bleev blot Sand”, via cult label Vendetta Records.

“…un torügg bleev blot Sand” consists of 48 minutes with 7 independent, yet musically deeply connected songs which blend the harsh but melodic sound of German old school black metal acts of the nineties with the atmospheric edge of modern black metal artists, while drawing massive influences from the North German landscapes, giving the band their distinctive sound which moves between aggression and melancholy. Negative experiences of individual human beings, packed into various stories which explore the realities of fear, devastation, depression, illness and death are the breeding ground for a beautifully composed black metal record that stands up with all the greats.

Just recently premiered with No Clean Singing, FRIISK unleashed “Dem Wind entgegen”, the first single taken off the upcoming album.

“The first single from our debut full-length “…un torügg bleev blot Sand” titled ‘Dem Wind entgegen’ revolves around the idea of steady progress, even when it seems to go nowhere.” the band states.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Andy Roszyk (ULTHA) at Goblin Sound Studio in Cologne and highly recommended for fans of Nagelfar, Wolves in the Throne Room, and early Secrets of the Moon “,…un torügg bleev blot Sand” will be coming out July 2nd and is now available for pre-order via Vendetta Records or the band’s Bandcamp

Tracklist:

  1. Einklang

American blackened death metal icons PESSIMIST (ft. Kelly McLauchlin of POSSESSED, I AM MORBID, etc.) will be releasing their signature “Blood for the Gods” mead as part of Brimming Horn Meadery’s ‘Mead and Metal” series! The mead is made with plum and aronia berries that have been aged 6 month in oak barrels, promising a “dark, sweet, and divine” flavor palate. The drink will be made available on June 11 to coincide with the release of the vinyl reissue of the band’s sophomore record of the same name.

PESSIMIST mainman Kelly McLauchlin comments, “We will be releasing our very own ‘Blood for the Gods’ Mead, from our friends at Brimming Horn Meadery, in Milton, DE as part of their “Mead and Metal” series!  The brew should be ready to be released at the same time as our album on June 11! This is a craft Mead (also called Honey Wine) brewed specially for us – I worked with the brewmaster on developing the ingredients – it will be dark red ‘Dark, Sweet and Divine,’ just like our record, ‘Blood for the Gods!’ Brimming Horn Meadery is also a sponsor of – and will be in attendance this year – at Decibel Magazine’s “Metal and Beer Fest” in Philly!”

PESSIMIST have recently entered the  Black Attack Studios in Los Angeles, CA (USA) to begin recording their long awaited  fourth full-length album, ‘Keys to the Underworld,’ with engineer Ira Black! This will be the band’s first full-length record since 2002’s ‘Slaughtering the Faithful.’ In addition, the band is also now welcoming drummer Tim Yeung (I AM MORBID, DIVINE HERESY, HATE ETERNAL, etc.) to the recording lineup! ‘Keys to the Underworld’ will be released by Season of Mist at a later date. Stay tuned!

PESSIMIST has previously announced that they will be issuing their first three albums on vinyl for the first time ever! ‘Cult of the Initiated,’ (1997) ‘Blood for the Gods,’ (1999) and ‘Slaughtering the Faithful’ (2002) will all contain never-before-heard bonus tracks and other extras as well, such as new layouts and rare, archival band photos. The release dates are as follows:

TEN YEARS AFTER Announce Livestream Event “Blue Crossroads”

Classic rockers/blues rock trailblazers TEN YEARS AFTER will soon be performing for fans throughout the world once more, via a livestream event. Entitled “Blue Crossroads,” the event includes three performances by different artists, Ten Years After on June 17th, Marcus Bonfanti Electric Band on July 1st, and Jawbone on July 15th.

The Ten Years After portion of the performance will be taking place on June 17th at 9pm EDT (with replay access available for 72 hours afterwards), tickets are available for purchase via boxoffice.mandolin.com.

Celebrating more than 50 years since forming, Ten Years After are still making classic blues rock with a contemporary groove – original members Ric Lee and Chick Churchill have continued this legacy and are now rounded out by guitarist/vocalist Marcus Bonfanti and bass icon Colin Hodgkinson.

Ric Lee: “Fans can expect an hour long concert mixing new and old Ten Years After songs such as ‘Land of the Vandals,’ ‘Hear Me Calling,’ ‘I’d Love To Change the World,’ ‘Silverspoon Lady,’ ‘Good Morning Little Schoolgirl’ and, of course, ‘I’m Going Home’ plus other tracks. From the finished cut I’ve seen we did capture the excitement of a live gig in spite of the fact that, due to Covid restrictions, we weren’t allowed an audience.”

Ten Years After remain one of the most prolific English bands of all time, continuing to tour worldwide. They have come together for the first time since early 2020 for this one off performance from London’s Subterania – expect a special evening and raise a glass to one of the legends of rock who are still rolling!

A three time British Blues Award winner as well as countless nominations Marcus Bonfanti of the Marcus Bonfanti Electric Band has toured the world with many artists as well as his own band and released three critically acclaimed albums. His growing reputation as a guitar player and vocalist lead to him being asked to join legendary British Rock n Roll band Ten Years After in 2014. He co-wrote and produced their latest studio album as well as appearing on their last two live albums and touring the world extensively including a special 50th anniversary tour to commemorate The Woodstock Festival in 2019.He is also into his tenth year of fronting the Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion who hold a monthly residency at the prestigious London venue and have had special guests Jack Bruce Eric Burdon Joe Louis Walker Sarah Jane Morris and John Nemeth to join them. Known for his deep powerful vocal style and ability to combine many differing guitar styles to create his own unique sound Bonfanti’s live shows are full of a raw energy that many people thought had left live music a long time ago. This film manages to capture him and the band in full flow at their very best. “He will knock you out” – Huey Morgan.

Jawbone began as a collaboration between established solo artists Paddy Milner and Marcus Bonfanti and the lineup was completed by the renowned rhythm section of Rex Horan and Evan Jenkins. Since the release of their eponymous debut album in 2017 Jawbone have gone from strength to strength honing their live exciting show on the road during extensive touring of Europe. In January 2018 they were chosen to back Eric Clapton Van Morrison & Tom Jones at Paul Jones’ legendary charity show at G-Live in Guildford gaining rave reviews from the artists involved and the sell-out audience alike. The distinctive voices of Paddy Milner and Marcus Bonfanti compliment and contrast throughout the songs as they share lead vocal duties on the album. Rex Horan’s searing falsetto vocals create the three-part harmony that has become a hallmark of the Jawbone sound. Taking influences from Little Feat The Band The Rolling Stones and Crosby Stills Nash & Young but also mixing it with the eclectic musical backgrounds that each member brings allows Jawbone to create a very fresh take on rock’n’roll. The live show captures the band in its most natural form and premiers new material from their forthcoming album as well as live arrangements of the songs from their first.

The livestream is only the first TYA offering for 2021, according to Lee. “The band has a new (to the USA) live album, ‘Naturally Live,’ coming out on Deko Entertainment in the near future with 2 bonus live tracks. Following that, Chrysalis Records is releasing a ‘clam shell’ box set released either this month or July covering the years from 1967 to 1975, and October this year is the 50th anniversary of ‘A Space in Time,’ which was our most successful USA release in 1970. A gold album then, it is now certified platinum. The studio version of ‘I’d Love To Change the World’ (an AM Top Forty hit), was first heard on this album. We’re currently planning to play all or almost all of the album on our next live gigs. With luck we’ll start touring again in Europe later this year and hopefully hit the USA in 2022.”

And Ten Years After will be getting the ball rolling on June 17th, as the first part of the Blue Crossroads livestream event.
