ALLUVIAL Release Visualizer For ‘The Putrid Sunrise’

Progressive, technical death metal collective ALLUVIAL have debuted their highly anticipated sophomore album, “Sarcoma,” today with Nuclear Blast. The band marks the release of the long awaited record with a new visualizer for their vicious new single ‘The Putrid Sunrise’, which can be viewed now!

Purchase/Stream “Sarcoma”: http://www.nuclearblast.com/alluvial-sarcoma

Guitarist Wes Hauch comments on the single:
“This song is basically about the back and forth of being stuck in a rut with drugs and booze. It bounces back and forth between high and sick, and the pointlessness that happens in between. I’d venture to say that most people can relate to giving into their beast. There’s a certain type of hedonic enjoyment in becoming the beast, but the beast is always there laughing at you once he’s had his fun.”

ALLUVIAL’s second full-length album, “Sarcoma,” examines people’s connection with pain and the hardships that bind us.

“Sarcoma is a type of cancer that grows from connective tissue in the body,” says guitarist Wes Hauch.“At the end of working on everything, Kevin [Muller] pinpointed that each song on the record was about the different perils that happen at the hand of one man to another. These perils live in our connections to one another, so ‘Sarcoma’ became an apt title.”

As Hauch began writing the record, he took notice of Muller due to his time in SUFFOCATION. After hearing his vocals on a demo, everything simply clicked, and Kevin joined the band. Fast brothers, it fulfilled a long-term goal. “The Deep Longing for Annihilation was supposed to have vocals, but I couldn’t find the right guy,” he adds. “Some people possess a rare inability to doubt themselves. Kevin can marry that into performances. The day I heard his vocals over the Sarcoma demos was a special one. We’ve become brothers.”

After writing and producing demos at home, Alluvial cut guitars, bass, and vocals with engineer John Douglass (MR. BUNGLE, AMON AMARTH) in Atlanta.

All-star modern metal band IMONOLITH return with huge new single ‘Angevil’, and tease new EP Progressions. This is the first new music released by the band since their critically acclaimed debut album, State of Being.

Says drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen: ‘”Angevil’ is an aggressive, hard hitting song from Imonolith’s upcoming 2021 EP, Progressions. Musically, the song shows a more progressive evolution of the bands songwriting since the release of our debut album, State of Being. Lyrically, ‘Angevil’ is about people who want to portray themselves as good willed, honest people but in all reality their negativity, their egos and lies show their true colours. In short, they want to be angelic but the more negative, dishonourable side always prevails. Hence the song title, ‘Angevil’.”

Stream ‘Angevil’ here: https://linktr.ee/imonolith

IMONOLITH features drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project) guitarist Brian ‘Beav’ Wadell (Devin Townsend Project), Jon Howard (Threat Signal), guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) and Scott Whalen (Econoline Crush). The collective of heavy-hitting players at the top of their game, released their debut album State of Being, in 2020. The album features special guest appearances from Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and famed Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström and is made up of 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks that centre around the theme of how people deal with various stages of life.

Even with their big album touring plans cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the band showed no sign of slowing, and recorded a series of play-through sessions. Watch them here: https://www.youtube.com/imonolith

‘Angevil’ is first in a series of new singles to be released, and with tour plans firming up for later in the year and 2022, you’ll be hearing a lot more from this ferocious new act very soon.

Today, Finnish doom stars SWALLOW THE SUN announce their first ever live album “20 Years Of Gloom, Beauty And Despair – Live in Helsinki“! It will be released on July 30th, 2021 via Century Media Records.

“Finally some good news after a year of cancellations and shitshow! We managed to play only 10 of these special 20th anniversary gigs before the whole world shut down in March 2020 and the rest of the tour got cancelled. Luckily we filmed and recorded one of the gigs, which we now release as our very first live album as we wait to be able to get back on stages again. Enjoy!“, comments Mikko Kotamäki

About the production he states, “We played the whole „Songs from the North II“ with a string quartet—comprised of very professional musicians, two of whom played on our previous album and appeared with us on the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise in 2018. For the first time, we also asked our fans on social media to vote for their favorite songs from each album. We then played the most-voted songs from every album.“

All physical formats can be pre-ordered HERE as of now: https://swallowthesun.lnk.to/20YearsOfGloomBeautyAndDespair-LiveInHelsinki

AT THE GATES Launch New Single/Video For “The Paradox”

Today Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES are debuting the second single/video “The Paradox” off their upcoming album “The Nightmare Of Being”, to be released July 2nd, 2021 via Century Media Records.

Check out the track “The Paradox” in a video-clip directed by Patric Ullaeus / www.rEvolver.se (Arch Enemy, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, etc.) here:

AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant commented about “The Paradox” and its video as follows:

“Humanity is the biggest paradox. We as humans always want justification for the big things: death, the meaning of life, etc. Our knowledge of being mortals drives us away from being human, hence the paradox. We invent defense mechanisms to protect us from the thought of death, religion, different –isms, etc.

This first time our producer Jens Bogren heard this song, he said “This is a monster!”. It touches on some core parts of the At The Gates sound, but builds further, on top of that, some classic NWOBHM/Mercyful Fate vibes thrown in for good measure. It is a death metal song, but has its progressive moments. Enjoy!

This was a very fun video to record, as we tried to create most of the “special effects” in an analog way, and not just to be added in the editing. Hence we were drenched in tons of crushed coal and soil, which took over a week and a lot of showers to get out of our hair, haha. We really wanted an oppressive, apocalyptic emotion for this video. And Patric Ullaeus, being the master that he is, went all the way to make that happen!”

Also check out the previously released clip for the album’s opening track “Spectre of Extinction” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNKxMkHavAw

While main parts for “The Nightmare Of Being” were recorded in Sweden at several different studios – Drums at Studio Gröndal with Jens Bogren, guitars and bass with Andy La Rocque at Sonic Train Studio and vocals at Welfare Sounds with Per Stålberg -, the album was mixed and mastered at Fascination Street Studios (Amon Amarth, Opeth, Kreator, etc.) by Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with AT THE GATES on their “At War With Reality” comeback album from 2014. The album’s visual concept was developed by artist Eva Nahon.

The tracklisting of “The Nightmare Of Being” will be as follows:

  1. Spectre of Extinction
  2. The Paradox
  3. The Nightmare of Being
  4. Garden of Cyrus
  5. Touched by the White Hands of Death
