‘In 2021, the Greek/Swedish melodic death metal stars NIGHTRAGE return with the final part in their trilogy of albums (‘The Venomous‘, ‘Wolf to Man‘) and now complete with their upcoming album ‘Abyss Rising‘. An album that is the band’s vision of mankind living in its own hell – a hell it has created through the destruction of the planet. Inspired in part by Dante’s ‘inferno’, the album explores man’s continual destruction of the world we live in until the abyss opens up to consume all before it. The abyss has risen from the depths, and hell has now turned outside in to be able to rise to earth to claim us. The album captures Nightrage in a spectacular form; incisive, brutal, uncompromising, and unforgettable. Musically the band have embraced a harder, faster, and brutal approach, still rich in melodic intent but characteristically heavy and aggressive. Mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordstrom at Studio Fredman (Architects, In Flames, Opeth, etc.) ‘Abyss Rising‘ is a formidable sonic masterpiece. The album will be released in fall 2021.

The second single on the upcoming album: ‘Falsifying Life‘ is a mid-tempo song and the meaning behind the lyrics is about how people deny themselves to live a really true life. We are all connected to social media and what happens there more than to our own lives. The single will be released May 28th via Despotz Records.

Marios and Magnus about the new single;
‘Falsifying Life’ is our second single from the upcoming album and once again a collaboration musically of me and Magnus, it’s a mid-tempo song with lots of groove and Nightrage signature melodies. We like to have these kinds of songs as well and we feel we don’t need to go super-fast all the time, but keep the melodicism and heaviness anyway that characterizes the band’s sound. This time Ronnies lyrical theme is all about us humans denying ourselves living a real true life. Instead, we sit behind our walls of social media and living a life in lie. Portraying our lives as we think others would like to see them, and how we fool ourselves that we want to live. And not how we really would like to live or to be. And we all know it’s all a lie! But instead of breaking free from the lie we buy it all the way and keep pushing it harder until it becomes the only “true life” we really know in the sad end. // Marios Iliopoulos

The funniest thing about writing songs for Nightrage is the mix between heavy metal and thrash/death. From one moment a mean riff to the other moment a memorable melody. On Falsifying life, I think you can hear my and Marios love of heavy metal shine through with all these guitar melodies everywhere. We actually had to remove some melodies in the mix to not overdo it. Maybe we did anyway haha!

BRAINSTORM is going to release their new album „Wall Of Skulls“ on August 20th, 2021. While cover artwork has been revealed and pre-sale already started last week, today we all are about to see the newest creation and first album-appetizer called „Escape The Silence“. Tenacious double-bass drums and powering bass lines, groovy guitar shreds and the uncompromising and recognizable voice of Andy B. Franck make this song a memorable top-notch and hard-hitting vigorous hymn!

But talking about the singer, we should note that a very special guest was able to lay down some lines on the mic for this song. For the first time ever, the band has worked with a guest vocalist who assume a central role in the respective songs. ‘Escape The Silence’ stars Rage’s legendary Peavy Wagner.

Peavy comments on his contribution: “A outrageously great song with a stunning video. It’s an honour for me  to be part of that album. Such an excellent track and awesome piece of music!“

LOST SYMPHONY Reveal “Take Another Piece” Single Ft. MARTY FRIEDMAN, NUNO BETTENCOURT, ALEX SKOLNICK And RICHARD SHAW

Classically infused metal ensemble LOST SYMPHONY has revealed the first single from the forthcoming Chapter III release, “Take Another Piece,” featuring a quadruple guitar attack from guests Marty Friedman, Nuno Bettencourt, Alex Skolnick and Richard Shaw.

Watch the video for “Take Another Piece” now, exclusively via Loudwire at this location.

When I first heard LOST SYMPHONY, I wasn’t sure what to expect,” Skolnick says. “I knew there’d be strong technical skills but was pleasantly surprised to hear how much else was going on: Melodic development, dynamics, compositional creativity and other elements not always present in music with this high a level of chops. While there is plenty of fodder for fans of ‘shred,’ there is also no shortage of moments for listeners of true classical, soundtracks and other symphonic music as well. The music may sound serious, but the players have a serious sense of humor, which adds to the overall quality. It is humbling to share ‘guest guitar’ duties with Marty and Nuno, two guitarists I consider to be champions among our generation of players, and an overall honor to be brought in to participate.”

Friedman adds, “The folks in the LOST SYMPHONY project have a deep love for guitar. Let me rephrase that, they are dangerously obsessed with it! Whenever I am invited to participate in their music, it is exciting to be around their tireless enthusiasm, and cool things always seem to happen because of it. The newest song, ‘Take Another Piece,’ may be my favorite of all the LS songs I`ve been a part of. There are some really unorthodox things going on.”

The collective founded by multi-instrumentalist and producer Benny Goodman and comprising his brother Brian (compositions, arrangement), Cory Paza (bass, guitar), Kelly Kereliuk (guitar), Paul Lourenco (drums), and Siobhán Cronin (violin, viola, electric violin) has once again welcomed a revolving cast of virtuosos to join them for Chapter III. This installment includes Angel Vivaldi, David Ellefson, Jimi Bell, Matt LaPierre, Joey Concepcion, Oli Herbert, Matt LaPierre and Ryan Formato, in addition to Friedman, Bettencourt, Skolnick and Shaw. Chapter III is scheduled for release on July 9.

Pre-orders are available now at https://lnk.to/LS_Chapter3.

Chapter III track listing:

  1. Denial of Anger (feat. Marty Friedman, David Ellefson, Jimi Bell and Matt LaPierre)
  2. Bargaining Depression (feat. Marty Friedman, David Ellefson, Joey Concepcion and Jimi Bell)
  3. Acceptance (feat. Alex Skolnick, Angel Vivaldi and Richard Shaw)
  4. Decomposing Composers (feat. Jeff Loomis, Jimi Bell, Matt LaPierre and Joey Concepcion)
  5. Take Another Piece (feat. Marty Friedman, Nuno Bettencourt, Alex Skolnick and Richard Shaw)
  6. My Last Goodbye (feat. Oli Herbert, Matt LaPierre and Ryan Formato)

LOST SYMPHONY was set in motion when Benny Goodman invited guitarists Kelly Kereliuk and Conrad Simon to add another dimension to the classical demo he had composed. An early recording of “Leave Well Enough Alone,” which appeared on Chapter II, made its way to All That Remains co-founder and guitar hero Oli Herbert, who quickly jumped aboard as a chief collaborator.

With the release of last year’s Chapter II, LOST SYMPHONY members Benny Goodman, Siobhán Cronin and Cory Paza also launched the 2020’d podcast. Instead of binge-watching countless TV shows, this creative three-ring circus with boundless energy decided to create a podcast to provide a vehicle for their pent-up creativity. The modern-day triumvirate called up some of their most interesting and successful friends, including recording artists, touring musicians, music industry experts, TV personalities, even a billionaire, and asked these friends to give us their take on current events as well as to share some of their wildest entertainment memories.

2020’d is a series of no-holds-barred discussions. chocked-full of insider information that explores the various paths that lead their highly successful guests to their unique lifestyles and prominence in the entertainment industry. Nearing the eve of the release of their long-awaited debut album, Culling Culture, fast-rising UK based unit VEXED once again showcases the brutality they’re made of. Combining both visually cinematic and oppressively honest material with a refined symbiosis of technically adept hardness and droning heavy instrumentality, VEXED convince with their new single “Fake” – released today aside a disturbingly intense official music video.

VEXED goes all out on absolutely every single track featured on their debut release, Culling Culture, out this Friday, May 21 via Napalm Records!

gaslight
/ˈɡaslʌɪt/
verb
gerund or present participle: gaslighting
1. manipulate (someone) by psychological means into doubting their own sanity.

Being a victim of gaslighting is like mental torture. Losing touch with reality, yourself, your friends and family is all the control they want.
“Fake” is a brutally heavy and unforgiving track that is dedicated to all Gaslighters out there. We see you. You have been warned.

Pre-Order VEXED’s debut album Culling Culture NOW!

Facing very personal experiences, Culling Culture is a tribute to hate, betrayal and anger, whilst also reflecting post-modern society with strikingly honest songwriting and heavy groove. Moreover, for as confident as they are musically, VEXED is as poignant lyrically.

Unrelenting lead vocalist Megan Targett’s vicious vocal assault blending venomously low growls, soaring cleans and razor-sharp rap-like deliveries (see “Fake” and “Weaponise”) is backed by the pure technical proficiency of bandmates Willem Mason-Geraghty (drums), Jay Bacon (guitar) and Al Harper (bass). The warning instrumental “Ignorant” prefaces the record’s menacing atmosphere and provides a flawless basis for smashing wakeup call “Hideous” and fiery, threatening tracks “Fake” and “Narcissist”. Ghostly “Aurora” and disrespectfully heavy album-closer “Lazarus” showcase Targett’s multi-faceted clean vocal delivery while clashing otherworldly auras with resonating, melodic rhythms. “Epiphany” blends both, offering a bold message of moving past self-loathing, while superciliously weighty offering “Weaponise” seethes between violent hatred and ambient darkness.

Culling Culture Tracklisting:
01. Ignorant
02. Hideous
03. Fake
04. Epiphany
05. Misery
06. Narcissist
07. Weaponise
08. Purity
09. Drift
10. Aurora
11. Lazarus

VEXED will perform live on stage on 2021 edition of Bloodstock. Bloodstock Open Air takes place from August 11-15 at Catton Park, UK.

Earlier this year, INHUMAN CONDITION announced their arrival on the scene.  The group, comprised of former MASSACRE members as well as current members of OBITUARY, THE ABSENCE, GOREGÄNG, and FORE, have since released two singles from their upcoming album, “Rat°God”, and now debut their third, entitled “Killing Pace”.

The lyrics for “Killing Pace” were written by CANNIBAL CORPSE drummer/lyricist Paul Mazurkiewicz.

The video was filmed and edited by drummer Jeramie Kling, with additional footage being supplied with permission by “The Abomination” directed by Max Raven.

“This song turned out to be such a ripper!  Once we got Paul to write some gnarly lyrics and catchy vocal patterns, it really developed into a bit of an anthemic song, and it’s very mosh-able.  It was also so cool that Jeramie was able to talk to director Max Raven and get permission to use the footage from “The Abomination”, it’s just a classic slasher video!” Nordberg said.

“Rat°God” will be out on June 4th on Listenable Insanity Records, with a vinyl release set for August 6th on Black Serpent Records. Pre-orders are available at inhumancondition.bandcamp.com

“Rat God” track-listing:

  1. Euphoriphobia
  2. The Neck Step
  3. Planetary Paroxysm
  4. Killing Pace
  5. Gravebound
  6. Tyrantula
  7. Rat God
  8. Crown Of Mediocrity
  9. Fait Accompli
