JOHNNY O’NEIL Release Second Single + Video ‘Comin’ For You’ From Debut Album

Johnny O’Neil has released the second single Comin’ For You taken from his debut solo album “Truth or Dare”. Along with the single is the music video that was world premiered on SleazeRoxx.com, watch the video below.

“This was more of a story video, with the guitar as metaphor for a woman, and my son, Rory portraying a much-younger version of yours truly. We also wanted to capture the band in a more laid-back atmosphere, and went for an attitude of us being at a rehearsal just having fun. The shoot was a bit more involved as well in that we had two different locations, Vig Guitars in Saint Paul for Rory’s cameo appearance, as well as the band playing in a warehouse location on East 7th Street in Saint Paul. I should also mention that Rory’s “co-star” is the O’Neil family dog, “Steve,” a 116-lbs., purebred Great Pyrenees that we “imported” from North Dakota through a rescue organization, North Star Great Pyrenees Rescue of Minnesota. Please consider getting a rescue pet, too. They are incredible companions.” – Johnny O’Neil

“Truth or Dare” is the blazing new solo debut from guitarist Johnny O’Neil, co-founder and mainstay of the Minnesota legendary hard rock band, Dare Force. It’s muscular, guitar-driven rock with a powerful foundation supplied by drummer Joachim Baecker, as well as a guest appearance by UFO’s original keyboardist, Danny Peyronel. Both O’Neil and Baecker are no strangers to the Midwest music scene and have finally joined forces to lay down a new set of refreshing rock & roll. Engineer and co-producer Brian Bart (a Midwest legend in his own right, and co-founder of Dare Force along with O’Neil) has delivered a crisp, clean recording that fully captures O’Neil’s blistering guitar work. “Truth or Dare” features nine songs, including the first single from the album, “Snake in the Grass,” the symphonic rocker “Temple,” the driving instrumental “World Run Amuck,” and a rollicking remake of The Beatles’ classic, “Revolution.”

“I just enjoyed listening to “Truth or Dare”, the upcoming release from Johnny O’Neil. If you like the classic hook-driven chorus, Johnny has you covered with “Comin’ For You.” Like guitars? The instrumental, “World Run Amuck,” should fill that pleasure.” -MIKE FINDLING: CHAINSAW / SLAVE RAIDER / MIKE FINDLING AGENCY

“Johnny O’Neil has crafted an album that’s a lot of fun to listen to with the guitars right where they should be – in your face. I just listened top to bottom – BEST ALBUM of 2021 so far!” – RON KEEL: HOST OF STREETS OF ROCK N ROLL RADIO SHOW & THE RON KEEL PODCAST

”If you are yearning for foot-stomping, fist-raising hard rock with seasoned chunky riffs delivered by a frontman “running amuck”, press play here!” – METAL TIM HENDERSON: BRAVEWORDS.com

VELVET INSANE Team Up With Dregen & Nicke Andersson For New Single ‘Backstreet Liberace’

Swedish rockers VELVET INSANE goes wam bam glam and wrings the clock back to 1973 in the new music video for “Backstreet Liberace” and with guest appearances from Dregen and Nicke Andersson of The Hellacopters on the track, the Swedish glam rockers are in good company.

The band comments:

“We feel very proud about this song and that it breathes and swaggers like it was made in London 1973, but with the modern sound of today.

Smooth pop harmonies pumped up by heavy drums and barbed wire guitars, and with a chorus that hits you right where it hurts. On top of it all we got Dregen and Nicke Andersson from The Hellacopters to jump in the back seat, giving us a helping hand in our purpose to keep rock ‘n’ roll alive. It can’t get any better than that!”

Watch the music video here:

The track is written by the legendary Sulo Karlsson of the Diamond Dogs who also has produced and wrote the tracks together with the band on the upcoming album “Rock ‘n’ Roll Glitter Suit”.

The eleven-track long album manifests Velvet Insane as a rock act to count on for years to come. “Rock ’n’ Roll Glitter Suit” is released via Wild Kingdom on July 16.

DESASTER Launch Lyric Video For New Single “Endless Awakening”

On June 4th, DESASTER will release their new album, Churches Without Saints, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, a lyric video for the new single, “Endless Awakening,” can be viewed below:

A video for the previously released single, “Learn to Love the Void”, can also be seen at: metalblade.com/desaster – where Churches Without Saints can be pre-ordered in various formats.

Since 1989, Germany’s Desaster have been churning out their unique and unholy blend of extreme metal, and in 2021 they return with perhaps their most powerful album to-date, the towering Churches Without Saints. “It’s a typical Desaster old school black-death-thrash metal album, with a lot of aggression, but also great atmosphere and epic tunes!” enthuses guitarist and founding member Infernal. With a simple remit of making an album full of “neck-breaking songs”, the quartet have once again proven themselves leaders in their chosen genres, giving their faithful and newcomers alike plenty to salivate over.

With a five-year gap elapsing since they dropped last album The Oath Of An Iron Ritual, fans have had to be very patient, but will find the results more than worth the wait. This new effort also features Hont taking over behind the kit from previous drummer Tormentor, bringing a welcome change to the way they work. “He’s a very skilled drummer and can play really anything. Whereas in the past the songwriting was a lot of ‘trial and error’ with testing many rhythms, we nowadays can work much more efficiently. Hont knows what rhythms fit to the riffs immediately. He has studied Desaster‘s music in detail and knows what works best, but he is not just copying Tormentor’s style – he brings his own skilled style into the music, and also some new rhythms and figures. That of course brings some fresh wind into the songs.”

The record was tracked in the band’s rehearsal room and was recorded, mixed and mastered by their live mixer Jan “Janosch” Gensheimer. This led to a very relaxed atmosphere throughout the whole process, having rehearsed a lot prior to recording and also doing a full pre-production demo with their own equipment, meaning they could record very fast and without many mistakes. They did however change things up a little, sonically speaking. “It was a big goal for me to change the sound a bit,” says Infernal. “Whereas the last albums had a very harsh sound, where the mid and high frequencies were dominating, I wanted a warmer and smoother sound this time. I always liked the sound of our ‘Tyrants of the Netherworld’ album from 2000 very much, and the new album is an effort to develop this sound with more details and different instruments. On ‘Tyrants‘, we had the rough mud of deepest hellish caves, now we present you the black lava which is flowing around the throne of Satan himself!” And having achieved everything they set out to, Churches Without Saints definitively starts a new and exciting chapter in one of extreme metal’s most consistently thrilling bands.
