ROCKIN’1000 Returns To France In 2022

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 12, 2021

Given the current health situation and the many uncertainties that come with planning big events the ROCKIN 1000’ team and the Stade de France in Paris have decided to postpone the performance originally scheduled for July 17, 2021 and reschedule it for May 14, 2022.  At the beginning of the coming school year ROCKIN’ 1000 will announce the participation of an incredible guest for this 2nd edition.

ROCKIN 1000’- The Biggest Rock Band on Earth returns live!

ROCKIN’ 1000 is an extraordinary performance carried out by more than 1000 amateur musicians: guitarists, bassists, singers, drummers, and for the first time in France, piano players perform the greatest Rock standards live on  the field of the Stade de France.  The occasion will see the return of musicians from the first edition, but also open up the opportunity and adventure to new players.  The musicians selected in 2020 will automatically qualify for participation in the 2022 concert. The second edition will see the return of rock n’ roll godfather Philippe Manoeuvre, who will reprise his role as music programmer, master of ceremonies, and Rock ambassador.  And just to sweeten the deal after these uncertain times, a surprise guest will join us to put the party over the top! ROCKIN’ 1000, the rock event of the year!

Philippe Manoeuvre

After following some of rocks greats (Lou Reed, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Gainsbourg …) and working with, but not limited to, Rock & Folk, Métal Hurlant, France Inter, RTL, OÜI FM, and the program “Les Enfants du Rock”, Philippe Manoeuvre is today considered a French Rock Icon.  He published his Discothèque idéale as well as biographies of Michael Jackson, James Brown, and Michel Polnareff.  In 2017, with Joey Starr, he wrote “Le Monde de Demain”.  In 2018 his “Rock, ma vie est un Roman” sold more than 70,000 copies.  In November 2019 it was published by HarperCollins.

ROCKIN’ 1000

In 2015 Fabio Zaffagnini and a few friends came up with the ridiculous plan to make a video of 1000 musicians playing  The Foo Fighters “Learn to Fly” in an attempt to convince the band to come to their hometown of Cesena and do a concert.

The gamble paid off.  The video went viral with more than 56 million views and The Foo Fighters added a date to their tour to fulfil the dream.  And so ROCKIN’ 1000 was born.  High off their success, from 2016 ROCKIN’ 1000 continued to grow in Italy.  Their first concert was organised at the Stadio Cesena in front of an audience of 13,000.  Their second gig at the Stadio di Firenze in Florence brought out a crowd of almost 30,000 with the presence of their rock star guest performer, Courtney Love. In 2019 the Stade de France in Paris hosted nearly 55,000 spectators for a one off concert.  2020 saw the release of the film “We are the Thousand, The Incredible True Story of ROCKIN 1000” directed by Anita Rivaroli and produced by Indyca.  ROCKIN’ 1000 is the brainchild of Fabio Zaffagnini, brought to life with the help of Claudia Spadoni, Martina Pieri, Mariagrazia Canu, Francesco “Cisco” Ridolfi and Anita Rivaroli.

Athens’ KHIRKI Release Final Song ‘Wolf’s Lament’ From Upcoming Album

May 21, 2021 will see Athens- based KHIRKI release their first full- length album entitled “Κτηνωδία“. On their debut, the Greek trio presents an enthralling mashup of metal, rock, punk and traditional folk influences, featuring a cohesive set of eight mostly fast- paced, uplifting songs. Its progressive mood is infectious, mesmerizing by the tribal-like dancing chants, while “Κτηνωδία” (pronunced “Ktinodia”) dives deep into an original sound heavily spiced with Anatolian and Balkan folk music. Orchestrated by acoustic and traditional instruments highlight the seducing folk atmosphere; yet “Κτηνωδία” is heavy at heart, a metal record that will crush ears and minds!

After the previously- released songs “Black And Chrome” and just recently, the high-voltage track “Bukovo” ( Listen HERE! ), KHIRKI have shared a final single, this time showcasing the more emotional and folk-infused facets of the album.

“Wolf’s Lament is the third and final single prior to the release of our album Κτηνωδία on May 21st“, says the band. “Since our blend of metal is heavily influenced by Greek and Anatolian Folk music we wanted to make a slow, deeply emotional and atmospheric song, where all these influences could have their chance to shine. The track deals with the subject matter of breaking up or parting ways with someone in an honorable manner. With a dignified silence, so to speak. When we played that song live people were really enthusiastic about it so we thought it would be a good idea to release it as a single. Enjoy!’

Listen to “Wolf’s Lament” right here:

“Κτηνωδία” was recorded by Theodore Zefkilis at Sca Studios (Rotting Christ, Planet of Zeus) in Athens between Autumn of 2019 and Spring 2020. The album pre-sale of this very special  folk- inspired heavy rock n‘ roll and metal record, highly recommended for fans of Mastodon, Kvelertak or Tool, is available at THIS LOCATION!

Album Tracklist:

1. Deadpan
2. Black And Chrome
3. Raging Bull
4. Medea
5. Bukovo
6. The Barkhan Dunes
7. Wolf’s Lament
8. Stara Planina

Norwegian Black Metal Legends VULTURE LORD Return With First Album in 18 Years – ‘Desecration Rite’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 12, 2021
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: VULTURE LORD. Leave a comment

Eighteen years since the release of their first full length album, the wicked and blasphemous Profane Prayer, the devils of VULTURE LORD have returned with its successor. Desecration Rite is an unholy assault of malice and malevolence, a shocking affirmation of Vulture Lord’s dedication to the dark. Dripping with spite and venom, a hatred you can taste, the songs that combine to form the Desecration Rite are hymns of annihilation, an adoration of absolute destruction.

The profound intensity of Vulture Lord’s second album should come as no surprise. With members of Urgehal,  Carpathian Forest, Endezzma and Beastcraft completing this cruel coven, how could their combined incantations summon anything but the most iniquitous of beasts? Particularly when the song writing crafts of Trondr Nefas  continue to play their part, despite his departure from this realm in 2012. The ceremony opens with the grand invocation of ‘Glorification Of The Dethronation’ and then all hell is let loose – an onslaught of black metal nihilism, the true metal of death. From first single, the battle cry of ‘Bloodbound Militia’, through the cold darkness of ‘Prepare The Coffin’ to the sacrilegious contempt of ‘Perverting The Bible’ there is no place to hide, no glimmer of hope. More than just an album, Desecration Rite is a fearless, ferocious ride into desolate oblivion.

With the strength of that infamous haven of shadows, Odium Records at their side, Vulture Lord are prepared to spread their death worship throughout the world like never before. When the words of the Desecration Rite are spoken in June 2021, then be sure that the end is nigh. The kings of darkness have returned to extinguish the light and no soul will be safe from their wrath.

HORNDAL Release ‘Rossen’ Music Video

Sweden’s HORNDAL have premiered a new music video for Rossen via Decibel Magazine, with an accompanying interview. Taken from their recently released sophomore album, Lake Drinker, the animated video was put together by Kalle Haglund (Bruto Studio). Rossen‘s stark warning against big tech and tale of industrial decline is captured with unnerving and captivating aplomb through the high octane visual, as a solitary figure metaphorically embodies Lake Drinker‘s real life tragedy.

Lake Drinker is out now via Prosthetic Records.

WATCH HERE THE VIDEO FOR ROSSEN

Speaking with Decibel on the music video, HORNDAL comment “The director is called Kalle Haglund and he’s really talented. He’s done really cool videos for The Hives, for instance, and they come from a town that’s really close to Horndal. His idea was, “What if, from the old steel mill, there’s one worker left behind. Just imagine that it’s not gone 40 years but maybe hundreds of years and he’s become this weird figure that is running around in the old factory.”

Always with us, we have true stories and stuff inspired by true events, but at the same time, it’s this sort of ghost story feel.”

Lake Drinker is the heavy soundtrack to a true horror story about a small industrial town in Sweden being brutally murdered, left to rust away, and then fooled into believing in the false hope of prosperity, promised by big American tech. The follow up to 2019’s Remains, Lake Drinker is a cautionary tale about making a deal with the devil. But this story of urban decay is not a fairytale or fantasy, it’s rooted in the real lives of the citizens of Horndal, retold by a band whose own lives are umbilically linked to the town itself.

Recorded in the iconic Studio Gröndahl in Stockholm, Sweden with producer Karl Daniel Lidén (Bloodbath, Katatonia, Crippled Black Phoenix) taking care of recording, mixing and mastering, Lake Drinker is a worthy follow up to their debut. The songs are captured in a raw, organic form, making the album come alive as it weaves its tale, incorporating elements of sludge, death metal and furious punk attitude. The album features some guest contributions courtesy of Pelle Jacobsson from Sweden’s National Radio Symphony Orchestra (classical percussion), Christer Falk and Daniel Johansson (horn arrangements), Johan Jansson of Interment and Dreadful Fate (guest vocals), and last but by no means least the voices of Horndal’s own protesters.

This is a story about the town of Horndal, but there are many others just like it out there. Here’s to all rusty hometowns out there. Drink up.

Lake Drinker tracklist:
1. Rossen
2. Horndal’s Blodbad
3. The Uprising
4. The Black Wheel
5. Kalhygget
6. Ruhr
7. Growing Graves
8. Home
9. Thor Bear
10. Town Burner
11. Ormön

SEEKER Release Video For New Single ‘CIAH’

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: SEEKER. Leave a comment

Nu-metalcore quintet SEEKER have released a video for their new single ‘CIAH’, the title-track from their recently released EP Call It A Hatred (out 7th May 2021).

Vocalist Jack Tyrell says of the track:

“‘CIAH’ is about feeling empty and void of sentiment, how I as a person felt and thought of myself on a daily basis. I couldn’t express why I felt the way I did, until I realised I just hated myself. I hated everything and everyone and that was the only spark that drove me at that point. In essence, it’s about coming to terms with your own self-hatred.

“If anyone should take anything from this song, it’s that it’s okay to express yourself. Building walls and feeling empty because of them leaves you worse off than before. It’s scary to feel something new but it shouldn’t hold you back from moving on.”

Check out the video for ‘CIAH’ here:

For fans of Northlane, Wage War and Alpha Wolf, Seeker deliver heavy, groovy, technical metal that firmly cements them as ones to watch.

Hailing from Surrey, Seeker is comprised of two sets of brothers and one close friend. Formed in 2019, the band began their steady rise in June 2020 with the release of their debut single ‘Deranged’, followed by the crushing ‘Bite Your Tongue’ in 2021.

Seeker have built their live reputation through shows across the UK, including a support slot with Heart Of A Coward. Now the quintet are putting their feet firmly on the pedal, offering an exhilarating taste of things to come with their new EP, Call It A Hatred.
