Esa Holopainen on the album: “Over the last few years, I have been writing a lot of music, and some of the stuff hasn’t exactly sounded like Amorphis. When Nino Laurenne, owner of Sonic Pump Studios called me late March, I already had three decent-sounding SILVER LAKE songs in stock. These tracks, entitled ‘Sentiment’, ‘Ray of Light’ and ‘Promising Sun’, worked as the backbone for the full solo album.”

“At first, I really didn’t know if the album would turn out to be purely instrumental or would there be vocalists as well. However, one thing was certain, I wouldn’t be the singer of SILVER LAKE. Therefore I started to ask several friends and favourite singers of mine that joined me from their home studios on these 9 new tracks to be featured on SILVER LAKE By ESA HOLOPAINEN”

Tracklist:
Silver Lake (instrumental)
Sentiment (feat. Jonas Renkse of Katatonia)
Storm (feat. Håkan Hemlin of Nordman)
Ray Of Light (feat. Einar Solberg of Leprous)
Alkusointu (feat. Vesa-Matti Loiri)
In Her Solitude (feat Tomi Joutsen of Amorphis)
Promising Sun (feat. Björn ‘Speed’ Strid of Soilwork / The Night Flight Orchestra)
Fading Moon (feat. Anneke Van Giersbergen)
Apprentice (feat. Jonas Renkse of Katatonia)
The moody cover art work was created by Metastazis.

JARUN Reveal New Album Details

Godz Ov War Productions proudly presents new name on the label’s roster: JARUN. With three full-lengths under their belt, they may be newcomers in our label, but certainly not on the scene or in the extreme underground. Jarun‘s path began in 2008 and, with each album being released by a different label, it wasn’t always the easy one. But the band never surrendered, having faith in what they do and taking another artistic steps with confidence. All this faith and all those experiences helped them create their next full-lenght work, entitled ‘Rok Spokojnego Słońca’, which will be released on May 21, 2021 as a standard jewel case CD and limited CD with slipcase.

Zagreus, Jarun‘s guitarist, says: “In terms of music, ‘Rok Spokojnego Słońca’ (‘A Year of the Quiet Sun’) is probably the band’s most black metal album. Cold, at times harsh and aggressive, but still (maybe even more than ever) progressive and explorative. Boldly reaching for new sounds and original arrangements.”

And we couldn’t agree more. For those who know the band and their previous works, fourth album, which consists of six songs and lasts for almost fifty minutes, will bring something new, yet still they will recognize the band they used to know. Jarun goes into new areas of the space they have been exploring so far. The boundaries between black metal and progressive part of it has been moved further, giving the new compositions more aggression and pure power. Still, they know who they are and what their roots are, so the spine, the core of the new album will be fully understandable for their fans. Once again Jarun takes next step into the unknown, trying to discover new paths that has never been tread before, giving us the most harsh and powerful, yet still progressive and atmospheric album in their discography so far. Like in the previous years, the band takes us deep into world of nature, connected strongly to the world of men, to our hearts and souls. Reaching deep into ourselves, trying to find our identity, with the helping hand of the nature that surrounds us. This is the journey rooted in the past, but still contemporary. It is a journey we take every day and it’s soundtrack is called ‘Rok Spokojnego Słońca’.

Here you can watch some visual magic, created by Zaćma Visual Studio, to illustrate the opening track ‘W Światło Stycznia’:

‘Rok Spokojnego Słońca’ was recorded, mixed and mastered at NS Studio, by Piotr ‘Armia’ Pietrzak. All vocals were recorded at ZED Studio, by Tomasz ‘Zed’ Zalewski. Cover art, design and layout by Damian Szpiłyk.

Tracklist:
1. W światło stycznia
2. Jodły
3. Widma
4. Bezimienna
5. Rok spokojnego słońca
6. Pierwszy śnieg

MOONSPELL Announce Reissues of Monumental Albums “Extinct” And “1755”

Due to high demand, Portuguese dark metal masters MOONSPELL (who just released their brand new and critically acclaimed album Hermitage, out now on Napalm Records), have announced the official reissuing of their monumental record Extinct (2015), and its successor, 1755 (2017). Both masterpieces will be re-released on vinyl on July 2, 2021 via Napalm Records, but order yours soon – each will be limited to just 100 copies available worldwide!

With Extinct, the band’s 11th studio album, MOONSPELL set the world aflame! The worldwide chart topping album – which landed at #1 in Portugal for several weeks – represents the band at their most experimental and impassioned, and is one of their most successful records to date. Its enthralling mix of darkness and beauty, modern riffing, Fernando Ribeiro`s somber vocals and blackened melodies showcase MOONSPELL’s grandeur in perfection – always one step ahead of the rest, always resisting all genre boundaries!

Two years later in 2017, MOONSPELL outclassed all standards with the colossal 1755. From the first weighty second, the conceptual dramaturgy of this record feels like a detonation of the mind. Playful and spirited, 1755 is an incomparable masterpiece. Telling the story of the year of horror, when a giant earthquake wrecked their home of Lisbon, naturally this album is performed completely in Portuguese. 1755 is an orchestral adventure including strings, bongos, epic choirs and vibrant grooves, and the grand guitars are just a tiny part of this amazing piece of work. The album also features Paulo Bragança, supplying his haunting voice to a Fado fallen angel who plays an important role in Portuguese culture. 1755 is an adventure of Portuguese medieval landscapes full of stunning highlights guarded by stirring hymns; emotional, technical and completely breathtaking!

“What I am most proud of in regards to all Moonspell records, is that nobody forgets about them,” says frontman Fernando Ribeiro. “Extinct and 1755 might have been sold out/out of print on LP for a few years, but they’re back on the market by popular demand, amazingly edited, and ready to be rediscovered and added to any proudly die-hard Moonspell fan collection. More to come, stay tuned under the spell!”

Long gone from print, both reissues will be out on July 2, 2021 and available through Napalm Records in the following formats, and limited to 100 copies worldwide:

1755 – White/Ocean Blue Marbled 1 LP-Gatefold

Extinct – White/Black Marbled 2-LP Gatefold

The pre-sale of both MUST-HAVE records, that belong in every well-sorted MOONSPELL and heavy dark metal record collection, has just started at THIS LOCATION!

KING KING Announce THE DAMN TRUTH As Special Guests On February 2022 UK Tour

Celebrated Canadian rock and roll band THE DAMN TRUTH are pleased to announce they will be special guests on KING KING’s February 2022 UK Tour. Tickets are available from thegigcartel.com and planetrocktickets.co.uk. The nine-date tour starts at York’s  Grand Opera House on February 10, 2022 and ends at London’s The Electric Ballroom on February 24, 2022.

The news follows the news of The Damn Truth’s forthcoming album “Now or Nowhere”, released by Spectra Musique/Sony Music on Friday May 7th.

The new album, produced by legendary Grammy Award winning record producer, Bob Rock, is available to pre-order from www.thedamntruth.com.

“We’re looking forward to touring the UK with King King,” says lead singer and guitarist, Lee-la Baum. “We can’t wait to perform tracks from our new album for British audiences.”

The Damn Truth’s latest single, “This Is Who We Are Now” has taken flight in the UK with six weeks of airplay on Planet Rock and a spot play on BBC Radio 2’s Rock Show with Johnnie Walker. The single also won Tracks of the Week on Classic Rock’s Louder Sound.

The Damn Truth is comprised of Lee-La Baum (lead vocals, guitar), Tom Shemer (guitar), PY Letellier (bass) and Dave Traina (drums).

“Let the truth be told, Canadian rock band, The Damn Truth are a fresh revivalism of the psyche music scene from the mid 60’s,” says Jeff Laufer of Rock Bands of LA. “Critics and fans alike praise their regeneration of the hard rock sound and values.”

Continues Jeff – “Bob Rock found a spirit within the band that he hadn’t experienced for many years. He saw something special… an artist with burning talent that needed the right direction to break wide open…like lightning in a bottle.”

“The production by the legendary Bob Rock capturing the essence of what the band have without damaging the humanness at its core. The drums thunder, the bass throbs, the guitar alone could wreak havoc to the solar system and the vocals of Lee-La Baum control the storm, a commanding presence over the hurricane.” – Metal Planet Music

Six tracks on the new album “Now or Nowhere” were produced by legendary Grammy Award winning Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, The Cult, The Offspring) at Bryan Adams’ recording studio “The Warehouse” in Vancouver.

“Now or Nowhere” chronicles the band as they navigate life, love, and everything else in a world gone seemingly upside down and sideways during the past year they were unable to finish the album with Bob because of COVID-19 restrictions, the band recorded the remaining three songs with help from Juno Award-winning producer Jean Massicotte (Patrick Watson, The Damn Truth) who mixed “Everything Fades”; and the rest of the mixing was done by Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton), Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine), and Mike Plotnikoff (Van Halen, Cranberries, Three Days Grace).

It’s worth noting there are three Grammy Award winners on this album (Bob Rock, Vance Powell, and Nick DiDia).

The Damn Truth have extensively toured Europe and the USA, opened tours for Z.Z. Top (and partied with Billy Gibbons in his pyjamas), the Sheepdogs, Styx, and Rival Sons.

They sold out the legendary Whisky a Go-Go in Los Angeles, sold out the Corona Theatre in their hometown of Montreal, and even had one of their videos featured on the official Janis Joplin Facebook page. It’s a culmination of a lot of blood, sweat and tears that’s come fruition with “Now or Nowhere”.

“Now or Nowhere” is available to pre-order. The single, “This Is Who We Are Now”, is now streaming on YouTube and Spotify.

The band also issued an behind-the-scenes EPK about the making of the album HERE.

THE ABSENCE Guitarist Taylor Nordberg Releases Play-Through of “Choirs Of Sickness”

Florida-based melodic death metal quartet, THE ABSENCE have released a play-through video from guitarist Taylor Nordberg (also of INHUMAN CONDITION, GOREGÄNG, FORE) for their latest single, “Choirs Of Sickness”, which will be on their upcoming album “Coffinized” out June 25th on M-Theory Audio.

Nordberg says, “Check it out, guys! Here’s a play-through video I did for our new tune, “Choirs Of Sickness”.  Rather than playing along to the song, I figured it would be more fun to jam with the rhythm section, and to re-record the guitar tracks in rock and roll live takes for the video, warts and all!  Of course, let’s be honest, most of you really just want to see puppy videos, so we got the Kling’s dog, Rooster June to make a guest appearance.”

THE ABSENCE first burst onto the scene in 2005 with their crushing, Erik Rutan-produced Metal Blade debut, “From Your Grave.” The album and its two follow-ups, 2007’s “Riders of the Plague” and 2010’s “Enemy Unbound,” showcased a perfect mixture of heart-wrenching melodies and skull-pounding aggression, truly making them one of the premiere bands of the melodic death metal scene. THE ABSENCE further cemented their reputation via numerous tours supporting some of the biggest names in metal, including Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Amon Amarth, Sabaton, Goatwhore, Evergrey, Malevolent Creation, Kataklysm and Destruction. Following a lengthy hiatus, the band regrouped in 2016 with a new lineup uniting founding members Stewart and Kling with longtime bassist Leon and guitarists Nordberg and Joey Concepcion for “A Gift for The Obsessed.” (Concepcion appears on four tracks on “Coffinized.”)

Track List:
Coffinized
Future Terminal
Choirs of Sickness
Radiant Devestation
Cathedral Dawn
Black Providence
Discordia
Treacherous
This Consuming Nocturne
Aperture Expands
Faith in Uncreation

MOONLIGHT HAZE Release Video for ‘Enigma’

MOONLIGHT HAZE have released a video for the song ‘Enigma’, the new single taken from their latest album ‘Lunaris’ (2020).

This is how singer Chiara Tricarico commented: “‘Enigma’ is the most mysterious song by Moonlight Haze. I really think that the video suits the misty atmosphere of the song very well: it includes many symbols, metaphors, and a nice kicker at the end of it. I’m sure it will take the audience on an interesting, introspective journey in the depths of the sub-consciousness, featured by Latin quotes and wordplays in our native language.”

‘Lunaris’ has been mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni (DGM) at Domination Studios and includes a guest appearance by Fabio Lethien Polo (Elvenking). The stunning cover artwork was made by Beatrice Demori (as on ‘De Rerum Natura’, the 2019 Moonlight Haze debut album).
