Joining the ranks at Sliptrick Records are the US rockers THE ALIVE.

Us hard rock group The Alive was created by drummer Tracy Duty in the spring of 2016 with a focus to write and perform the kind of music that hits you in all the right places and overpowers all your senses. Rock ‘n’ Roll is meant to be raw and unapologetic and the band deliver. Influenced by the music of the 70’s and 80’s, The Alive promises to bring excitement and groove of the classic arena rock acts while still keeping a firm pulse on the modern scene.

Turned Up To Destroy, the groups debut album will be released via Sliptrick Records later this year.

The Alive are:
Wes Lee Scott – Lead Vocals/Bass Guitar | Tye Hall – Guitar | Tracy Duty – Drums

CASSIUS KING Announce Limited Edition 7″ Single Feat. “Traveler” And Aerosmith Cover

CASSIUS KING, led by guitarist Dan Lorenzo (Hades, Non-Fiction, Vessel Of Light) with Dangerous Toys/Broken Teeth vocalist Jason McMaster, has released a seven-inch single for the track “Traveler” with a b-side cover of Aerosmith’s “Sight for Sore Eyes,” the band’s first release with Nomad Eel Records.

“Jason has been my go-to-guy for years whenever I record cover songs with CASSIUS KING,” Lorenzo says. “He has sung Kiss’ ‘Mr. Speed,’ Cheap Trick’s ‘Big Eyes’ and Aerosmith’s “Back In The Saddle” and now ‘Sight For Sore Eyes.’”

The single is limited 40 individually numbered auburn, lathe cut thick vinyl editions at this location. Purchase also includes unlimited streaming of the songs via the Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

“”I’m very excited to announce CASSIUS KING has signed with us,” says Nomad Eel’s Damon Duster. “If you grew up in the late ‘80s or early ‘90s then chances are you know the band Dangerous Toys. When I was in my adolescent/teenage years, my sk8 club would jam to the cassette non-stop. Life has a funny way of coming full circle and I can’t be more happy about it!”

Lorenzo was focusing on his doomy Vessel Of Light project, releasing four albums within just three years, before deciding to re-visit CASSIUS KING. “Jason and I figured it was time to write some original music together,” he says. “CASSIUS KING is less doomy than Vessel Of Light. Some of the songs could almost be Hades songs.”

That said, it was logical for Lorenzo to once again recruited Hades bassist Jimmy Schulman and drummer Ron Lipnicki, who served time in Hades before sitting behind the throne with Overkill for a decade, to complete the band’s lineup. Additionally, original Hades guitarist Scott LePage contributed several solos on CASSIUS KING’s debut.

CASSIUS KING’s debut is scheduled for a late summer release. Check out below a sample of the song “Join the Exodus.”

ENSLAVED Release ‘The Crossing’ Live Video/Single

Blackened avant-gardists ENSLAVED have revealed the next passage in their 30th anniversary voyage. To celebrate the launch of their Cinematic Tour 2020 live album digital pre-orders, the band has premiered a live video for their single ‘The Crossing’, which captures an otherworldly performance of their classic song through a new modern lens.

Recorded on a dark day in summer 2020 at USF Verftet in Bergen, Norway, the performance is taken from their upcoming live release Below The Lights (Cinematic Tour 2020), which sees Enslaved play their acclaimed opus Below the Lights in its entirety. It is one part of their four new live album/DVD Cinematic Tour 2020 collection due to be released on June 25th.

Enslaved’s Grutle Kjellson commented,
“The online performance of Below The Lights was indeed a trip. There has been a huge demand for us to perform that album for some years now. Ironically, because there was very little buzz around it in the days of its initial release back in 2003. I guess we fell into the good ol’ pit in-between the chairs back then, and we got pretty puzzled when people started to shout out for those songs 10 years later!

Anyway, we are psyched and proud to present to you a special performance of the whole album, also including a sixth member, Inge Rypdal! Rypdal is a long time friend of the band and has been collaborating with Enslaved on several occasions over the years, including a stunning performance on the recordings of Below The Lights, adding a beautiful contribution on ‘A Darker Place’.

Here’s a little sneak peak! Enjoy ‘The Crossing’ and have a heavy weekend”

Never faltering, Norway’s iconic Enslaved continue to exist as one of the most original and dependable components in our scene’s indestructible backbone. Possessing the reputation as one of the most riveting live acts around, they never fail to offer us talent of the highest calibre, always doing justice to their signature black/progressive sound. Enslaved was formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson releasing their first demo Yggdrasill in the summer of 1992, their legendary mini-album Hordanes Land coming out in 1993 with debut full length Vikingligr Veldi arriving in the spring of 1994.

Enslaved in 2021 is a band in stellar form, a band at its most existentialist and self-conscious, proud Bergeners bearing the torch of their hometown’s extraordinary musical history. Latest album Utgard has shown them at a stage where simply everything they touch turns to gold. Icy black metal anthems walk hand in hand with refined prog rock gems and primordial, dark folk sorcery. It’s Enslaved to the bone. And yet again a band that cast off its old skin, delivering some of their shortest songs in years while still packing them with glimmering detail. It is a journey into and through scary Utgard, showing Enslaved both unleashed and thought-through – a lethal combination unfurling a potential that’s easily rekindling the furor of their early works while dancing gracefully through their most ambitious, most haunting and most musical tunes yet. A contradiction? Life itself is a contradiction. And yet we all live to prove it wrong.

CIRCLE OF SIGHS Share New Music Video For “We Need Legends”

June 4th will see occult-synth-doom collective CIRCLE OF SIGHS to release their highly anticipated new studio album, titled “Narci”, on Metal Assault Records. Carving out their very own niche within the genre, adopting a style that very few acts even attempt to approach, today the band unleashed a brand new video clip for the track “We Need Legends”.

While still rooted in cosmic doom, on the band’s sophomore album we find the group travelling further to the outer reaches of metal’s avant garde. Glitch-pop, prog rock, dark jazz, industrial gaze, and grindcore influences bubble to the top, all buoyed by the singalong melodies and rich vocal harmonies. Not afraid to think outside the box, “Narci” offers eight epic yet individual chapters that will take you on a journey to previously unimagined spheres.

“Narci” will be coming out on June 4th via Metal Assault Records and is available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION

Tracklist:

01. Spectral Arms
02. We Need Legends
03. A Crystal Crown of Cosmic Pain
04. Roses Blue
05. Segue 04
06. Narci
07. Heaven in Flames
08. The Man Who Stole the Wind

Norwegian POLYFRENETICS Sign To Argonauta Records, Debut EP Coming This Summer

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 7, 2021
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: POLYFRENETICS. Leave a comment

Norwegian prog- and psychedelic  punk rockers POLYFRENETICS have inked a deal with Argonauta Records for the release of their upcoming debut EP, set to be unleashed this summer!

POLYFRENETICS were formed in Oslo in late 2007 by guitarist Are Linnerud and Per Erik Sæter (bass/voc.). Both were playing in several bands together on and off since the mid nineties, but never quite found their space, place or peers in other bands. Until they started to make their own psychedelic brew of brutal progressive rock with their punk infested hearts that things started to happen and POLYFRENETICS was born.

Following numerous high-voltage shows over Norway, intense jams and hours of unfinished recordings due to several line-up changes, POLYFRENETICS eventually put the final touches to their blistering debut. Four vibrant and heavy as hell tracks showcasing a fierce blend of prog- rock and proto-punk, guarded by psychedelic vibes and a gritty punk attitude. It may have taken some time for POLYFRENETICS to finally revive from the ashes of their past, but one is sure, with their revitalizing sound they are a band you need to watch out for in 2021!

“We are utterly baffeled and completly gobsmacked to announce that the Italian powerhouse label Argonauta Records are releasing our debut EP on vinyl this summer! When Gero at Argonauta Records reached out and asked us to join their eclectic roster we were stoked, humble and 100% down with it! ” The band comments.

“POLYFRENETICS debut EP is a mash-up of the bandmembers dark past in prog rock, their love of punk, all that’s heavy and some really, really weird-ass psychedelic flashbacks.

Be forewarned for the hard rock, psychedelic, proto-, prog-, punk outfit that is POLYFRENETICS.”

POLYFRENETICS debut EP will be coming out this summer on Argonauta, stay tuned for more updates and album tunes to follow in the weeks ahead!
