IMMORTAL GUARDIAN Unveil Video for Title Track of New Concept Album ‘Psychosomatic’

The extreme progressive/power metal group IMMORTAL GUARDIAN has unveiled a video for “Psychosomatic”, the title track of their acclaimed new concept album that was inspired by and recorded during the coronavirus pandemic. The clip can be viewed below.

“One thing we started noticing early on at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 was the overwhelming number of friends that were getting sick only to find out they tested negative and never had the virus. Us included! There were so many moments where we were so convinced that we had covid because we felt all the symptoms and totally freaked ourselves out even though we never left our house. Just to take a test and find out we didn’t have it and even feel the symptoms disappear after 24hrs. This was happening to so many people I know and we thought it would be a very interesting topic to write about,” explains Gabriel Guardian. “This is not to take away from the seriousness of the virus and the harm it has actually done to some of our other friends and family. It’s been a very rough year for all of us… But if there was something, we noticed that did affect the majority, it was the big amounts of fear and confusion that literally made us all feel sick just from living through the experience. Our silent pandemic is psychosomatic.”

“Psychosomatic” is the latest in a series of creative videos that IMMORTAL GUARDIAN has released in recent weeks. Last month, the group unveiled a clip for “Phobia”, which featured a guest appearance by Angra guitarist Marcelo Barbosa. Previously, their videos for “Clocks,” “Lockdown” and “Read Between The Lines” earned praise from the likes of MetalSucks, Metal Injection, and Gear Gods.

After making a splash via their 2018 full-length debut “Age of Revolution” – which featured its own fair share of creative music videos, including the “Armageddon”-meets-telenovela “Stardust” – and through tours with the likes of Marty Friedman, Exmortus, and Powerglove, IMMORTAL GUARDIAN gathered in Las Vegas at the beginning of 2020 to record their second album. As the spread of COVID-19 and the subsequent pandemic began to ensue, shutdowns around the world began being enforced, resulting in the band completely scrapping the record that they had been working on and writing and creating a new thematic record about their emotions surrounding current events. The resulting “Psychosomatic” was a truly multi-national record, with guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian – known for his uncanny ability to play the two instruments simultaneously – remaining in Las Vegas, singer Carlos Zema recording his vocals from his home in Brazil, drummer Justin Piedimonte tracking from Montreal, and bassist Joshua Lopez recording from IMMORTAL GUARDIAN‘s native Texas.

“Psychosomatic” is a product of the extraordinary turmoil of 2020 that affected millions of people around the world, as well as the next step in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN’s exhilarating melding of melodic power metal with progressive/shred tendencies. CD and limited-edition purple vinyl editions of “Psychosomatic” are available now at www.smarturl.com/immortalguardian.

IMPERIAL AGE Announce ‘New World Tour 2022’

In 2020 and 2021 the music industry looks devastated. Without concerts or any certainty for the future, it was a survival time for everyone. Under the pressure of adverse factors many artists quit music, some found themselves day jobs, several bands split altogether, while individual musicians even died.

However, at the very same time, a new star started rising up on the horizon – and this time, from the East.

Over the year of 2020 Russian symphonic metal masters IMPERIAL AGE literally managed to X7 their following everywhere, rising to prominence despite all the circumstantial adversity: millions of YouTube views, dozens of thousands of online show viewers (even from Antarctica!) and 5-digit sales of music worldwide… all while declining offers from the leading metal labels.

In 2020, IMPERIAL AGE was booked to play in EU, UK, North and South America but most of these dates were not even published due to obvious reasons…

As most other artists who decided to think positively and spend their time productively, IMPERIAL AGE used the opportunity to write new songs. The title of the new album is “New World”, and it is due to release in December 2021.

By 2022 most of the world will re-open, concerts will resume, and IMPERIAL AGE will embark on their biggest tour so far – the NEW WORLD TOUR 2022.

The first leg of this tour covers Western Europe in January 2022 with 17 concerts in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and the Netherlands and 4 shows in the UK (moved from 2020). More dates are expected to be added.

Tickets are already available here: https://tour.imperial-age.com
(previously purchased UK tickets are valid for the new dates!!)

160 Classical Musicans Perform IRON MAIDEN’s ‘Fear Of The Dark’

160 musicians all over the world have united to perform classical IRON MAIDEN song ‘Fear Of The Dark’!

The idea comes from Ulf Wadenbrandt, conductor of the Sweden Symphony Orchestra (Sweden) and Principal Guest Conductor for the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra  (Russia).

Ulf Wadenbrandt normally travels to towns and cities in many different countries to conduct musicians in a wide range of concerts. However, the global pandemic situation has put a halt to touring the world for uncertain period of time – something that affects others too.

“Many of my musical colleagues around the world are currently unable to play together and cannot perform for the public. So I reached out to many wonderful orchestral musicians, to see if we could play something together,” says Ulf.

Ulf has virtually been working around the clock recently (not least due to the many different time zones involved) to instruct and inspire musicians for the recording. More than 160 musicians from all over the world are taking part in recording a video together.

“I want to highlight how important music and culture are in these difficult times. Music makes you feel good and helps to develop people. We need to show the world that we are needed and must get to play. I have gathered everyone from absolutely world class musicians and excellent music teachers to talented amateurs and students from music and cultural schools from all over the world. I want to show the value of diversity and emphasise how everyone is important in the ecosystem of music,” Ulf continues.

Musicians from as far afield as the Dortmund Philharmonic to Brazil, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Argentina, China and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra in New Zealand are playing together, as well as from many other orchestras across the globe!

You can check out the performance of this unique act here:

An instrumental version of Iron Maiden’s ‘Fear of the Dark’ has been arranged for Symphony Orchestra.

“This song has everything from nice melodic lines with lots of energy and a thumping tempo. It’s a magical arrangement that releases the orchestra’s energy and fantastic sound. Iron Maiden have quite simply written a great song that works perfectly for symphony orchestras and their wonderful timbre,” – explains Ulf.

More facts about ‘Fear of the dark’ and the Global Corona Orchestra:

‘Fear of the Dark’ was performed by musicians of the following orchestras:Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, National Orchestra Russia, Dortmunder Philharmoniker, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonisches Orchester Regensburg, , Krasnodar Symphony Orchestra, Globalis Orchestra, Silatiev Symphony Orchestra, Argentina National Symphony Orchestra, Creative Camerata Moscow, State Symphony Orchestra of Udmurt Republic, Tiumen Symphony Orchestra, Presidential Orchestra of Belarus, Wuhan Youth Symphony Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra in New Zealand, Departmental Band of Valle del Cauca, Colombia, Orquesta Concertante de Madrid, The Orchestra of the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires. Sweden Symphony Orchestra, Hovkapellet, Stockholm, Göteborg Operans Orkester, Jönköping Sinfonietta, Gävle symfoniorkester, Gotlandsmusiken, N3 Symphony Orchestra, Trollhättan, Royal Swedish Navy Band, John Bauer Brass.

YouTube Guitar Sensation BERNTH To Release Debut Album ‘Elevation’ On May 14th

Rising YouTube guitar sensation BERNTH has announced his debut album Elevation, scheduled for release on May 14, by lighting his guitar on fire with three flamethrowers – and shredding on it afterwards!

“My biggest goal with ‘Elevation’ was writing the ultimate guitar album,” says BERNTH. “A mix of completely new sounds with traditional elements all guitar enthusiasts love: blazing shreds, inescapable hooks, and captivating songwriting!”

The clear message: You Can’t Kill Guitar Music:

BERNTH now has the fastest-growing YouTube metal guitar channel in recent years, surpassing 270,000 subscribers and 12 million views in just one year of uploading regularly.

Pre-orders for the album are available today and guitarists can claim one of 108 limited box sets including a free Elixir strings 10|46 Optiweb set and Ibanez Jazz III grip picks at https://bernth.myshopify.com/.

The task of creating his first instrumental album proved loftier than expected. After scrapping a full album, noting that “it wasn’t good enough, there was nothing special or unique about it, and I felt like the world didn’t need another by-the-books instrumental record like this,” BERNTH embarked on a long tour with a well-known Austrian pop/rock act later that year, followed by a much-needed vacation with his girlfriend on a secluded Colombian island.

“That’s when the sound and production style suddenly came to me, step-by-step, and I couldn’t wait to return to Austria to restart the project,” BERNTH says. “Everything came together quickly after this small epiphany and I re-worked existing ideas and came up with new and different sounds to make this album special and meaningful. With the help of acclaimed and much-awarded Austrian producer Daniel Fellner, ‘Elevation’ was finally finished in 2020 and I could focus on the release and finishing the ambitious music videos.”

Four years in the making, Elevation is full of signature high adrenaline shredding and embodies the absolute dedication and perfectionism BERNTH’s viewership is already accustomed to. To give a taste of what’s to come, BERNTH‘s stunning and virtuosic new interpretation of Paganini‘s “24th Caprice” will be released on his channel and on all streaming platforms as the first single on April 23.

“There are so many articles online claiming that rock music, especially guitar music, is dying and becoming more and more irrelevant nowadays,” says BERNTH. “Thankfully, many aspiring players proved the world wrong since they took over social media with their amazing skills! This is what also re-kindled my passion for the instrument and led me to build my own presence on Instagram and YouTube.”

Before focusing on his YouTube and Instagram presence,BERNTHmainly worked with the Austrian pop/rock actSeiler und Speer, playing on multiple gold and platinum certified albums and singles in his home country. His roots lie in the extreme metal genre, where he started his career as a session/live guitar player for the Austrian bandBelphegorin 2010. He also wroteDavid Hasselhoff‘s debut metal song “Through the Night” with his electronic metal projectCueStack. Aside from his work on stage and in the studio, he is a double honor student of the Vienna Music Institute, where he studied jazz guitar and instrumental pedagogics. BERNTH has taught over 10,000 students in the last two years with his online courses, “10 Steps to Modern Shredding” and “Sweep Picking Masterclass” onwww.bernth.atand with this weekly video lesson content onwww.patreon.com/bernth
