ALTARAGE deliver exactly what the underground buzz around them promised. Their fourth full-length, ‘Succumb’ is bristling with black and dissonant death metal fury that immediately evokes a plethora of sinister images in the brain. Its origin lies in the destructiveness of nostalgia, among other things……
Little is known about this secretive death metal collective, except their origin from Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque country of Spain. In 2015, ALTARAGE unleashed a demo simply entitled after its year of release, ‘MMXV’ generated massive interest in the extreme metal scene around the globe. This was soon followed by the debut album ‘NIHL’ in 2016 and their second full length ‘Endinghent’ in 2017 which received high praise from critics and fans alike. In 2019, Their relentless soul-crushing sound was sending the scared mind on overdrive once again with their third album ‘The Approaching Roar’.
ALTARAGE now return to mercilessly drag you into an abyss of nightmares and twisted meanings. ‘Succumb’, in their own words, calls the doom inhabitants to reach a whole nothing. Welcome to this new dimension of sonic darkness.

DEAD DIRTY DINOSAURS are the new Kings of Alt Indie Rock in the Southern Hemisphere. If you don’t already know, you’ll know. Obviously humble, but only until the 4 clicks are done, this Brisbane 3 piece are nearly always stuck in top gear. This translates to a dead dirty live show and some healthy prehistoric slabs of noise to chuck on when you’re bored of sitting still.
‘Holding Back’ was the latest single from the Dead Dirty Dinosaurs via the burgeoning punk label Riot Records and their parent company Golden Robot Records.
Dead Dirty Dinosaurs are Brisbane icons in the making.
Following a long tradition of powerful music coming out of South East QLD these cantankerous troubadours have been pouring blood, sweat and tears into their music and the result will leave you smiling.
Tackling todays endless stream of daily calamities and staying positive through it all the DDD’s songs of love, life, dubiously deadly careers and a sly look at our wild surroundings all throb with the “night out” energy that we’re all craving right now.
Three Jurassic music lovers who met in the snow fields of Europe but ended up brought together here by a force that can’t be ignored.
A love of 90’s alt rock, punk, post punk and post rock combined with a need to make a mark on a new era in their lives set them on a path with one goal, to snag the support slot for the Pixies in Brisbane.
The pandemic has put that dream off for the moment but signing to Golden Robot and Riot Records combined has started a whole new path and who knows where that’s going to lead us all.
Progressive, technical death metal collective ALLUVIAL has officially joined Nuclear Blast Records, and has announced plans to release their long-awaited sophomore album, “Sarcoma,“ on May 28th. Today, the band has revealed the record’s first new track ‘Ulysses,‘ which can be streamed now via a music video and on all digital platforms.
Commenting on their signing to the label, guitarist Wes Hauch says, “Monte Conner (legendary A&R man at Nuclear Blast) is responsible for most of the metal that I was reared on, and I’m honored that Alluvial has found a home with Nuclear Blast. Their tenure and pedigree is inimitable, their enthusiasm and belief in the band is inspiring to us.“
Vocalist Kevin Muller adds, “The diversity in the music, and the power in our message is what makes Alluvial a perfect home for me. Nuclear Blast is known for its roster full of authentic bands that have power and conviction in their art. We are proud to be among them.“
Nuclear Blast’s Monte Conner says, “Wes’ music has all the elements that I have always looked for in songs – killer arrangements, melody, hooks and powerful vocals. When you add in his guitar playing, it just takes it all to another level — not just his solos but his tasty rhythm guitar work as well. Top notch stuff here! I am happy to have Wes, Kevin and Alluvial as part of the Nuclear Blast family.“
What began as an instrumental collaboration has grown into a full-frontal aural assault with a lineup consisting of vocalist Kevin Muller (ex-SUFFOCATION, THE MERCILESS CONCEPT), guitarist Wes Hauch (ex-THE FACELESS, BLACK CROWN INITIATE), bassist Tim Walker (ENTHEOS) and drummer Matt Paulazzo(AEGAEON). On their follow up to 2017’s lauded record “The Deep Longing for Annihilation,” ALLUVIAL plunge into a whirlwind of neck-snapping polyrhythmic riffs, a barrage of double bass and a dynamic avalanche of screams.
ALLUVIAL’s second full-length album, “Sarcoma”, examines people’s connection with pain and the hardships that bind us.
“Sarcoma is a type of cancer that grows from connective tissue in the body,” says guitarist WesHauch. “At the end of working on everything, Kevin [Muller] pinpointed that each song on the record was about the different perils that happen at the hand of one man to another. These perils live in our connections to one another, so ‘Sarcoma’ became an apt title.”
As Hauch began writing the record, he took notice of Muller due to his time in SUFFOCATION. After hearing his vocals on a demo, everything simply clicked, and Kevin joined the band. Fast brothers, it fulfilled a long-term goal. “‘The Deep Longing for Annihilation’ was supposed to have vocals, but I couldn’t find the right guy,” he adds. “Some people possess a rare inability to doubt themselves. Kevin can marry that into performances. The day I heard his vocals over the ‘Sarcoma’ demos was a special one. We’ve become brothers.”
After writing and producing demos at home, ALLUVIAL cut guitars, bass, and vocals with engineer John Douglass (MR. BUNGLE, AMON AMARTH) in Atlanta. The opener ‘Ulysses‘ begins with warm guitar echoes before building towards an ominous crescendo. It quickly crumbles under the weight of a thrash riff and brain-rattling growl.
“I was always in trouble in my small hometown,”Hauch says. “After going to a county jail, I joined the military and took orders as an Equipment Operator bound for the US Naval Mobile Construction Battalions. The enlisted side of the military are all misfits of one kind or another. Because of this, it’s really a continuation of high school. The military continued raising us, for better or worse. In 2005, I deployed to Iraq and convoyed throughout Baghdad for seven months. If you were in Iraq from 03 to 08, it was generally pretty bad. Because of that, I wouldn’t call my experience in Iraq “unique,” it was just a hot time over there. If you convoyed, you were gonna get shot at, and you were gonna deal with IED’s. If you were in a camp, you were gonna get mortared. If you were infantry and you were kicking down doors, god bless you, you were gonna have it the worst out of anyone. ‘Ulysses’ is a glossary of my hindsight on that experience.”
‘Ulysses’ is a taste of what’s to come from a band that’s already proven themselves before. They’ve set the stage for their next onslaught, “Sarcoma”, armed with some of the most vicious, technical riffs and merciless vocals that metal has to offer.
“Sarcoma” tracklisting: 1. Ulysses 2. Thy Underling 3. Sarcoma 4. 40 Stories 5. Zero 6. Exponent 7. Sleepers become giants 8. The Putrid Sunrise 9. Sugar Paper 10. Anodyne
The positive impact of music to people’s health and wellbeing has no doubt. Listening to music and playing it makes your brain stronger. The campaign “Music Improves Brain Health” from Alzheimer Association of Kanta-Hame takes place for the sixth time this year – supported by the Swedish modern metal heroes of SOILWORK!
Drummer Bastian Thusgaard states: “I think music is an outlet that allows us to express our feelings and connect to various states of mind. I believe that most people, whether they are aware of it to not, use music to channel their feelings and cope with both the good and bad in life. I truly believe that music is great for our mental health and I’d say we all need music in our lives in order to function.”
According to scientists the music can even cause structural changes to the brain. These changes can specifically be seen through long-term and regular listening and playing of music. It doesn’t matter what kind of music you listen to, rock, metal, pop or classical, as long as you listen to your favourite music.
“Music Improves Brain Health” is a Finnish campaign from Alzheimer Association of Kanta-Hame. This is the sixth time for the campaign to be held. In previous years there have been several metal bands supporting the campaign like KORPIKLAANI, ENSIFERUM, INSOMNIUM, TURISAS, STAM1NA and TURMION KÄTILÖT. For now COVID is affecting all around the world and the bands need your support. Buy merchandise, albums and wear those t-shirts and hoodies proudly. We need music!
SOILWORK released their highly-anticipated last EP “A Whisp Of The Atlantic” in December 2020. The almost immediately sold-out physical edition of “A Whisp Of The Atlantic” is now back in stock as “Mid Blue” Vinyl [limited to 600 units]. Get you copy here: http://nblast.de/Soilwork-WhispAtlantic
If it’s burly, melodic, and fits together perfectly, it’s probably from Sweden. LEACH certainly are, and their warts-and-all style of thrash-n’-roll is just begging for a throwdown.
‘Lovely Light of Life’ is their third major rodeo, and straight out of the gate, a mission statement of thrash, hardcore and rock’n’roll . A style and sound they’ve established which stands out from the crowd and are wholly theirs. ‘Lovely Light of Life’ will be released worldwide on May 21st on the American label Brutal Records.
With a mixed variety of relentlessly chugging grooves and anthemic riffs carved out of the foundation of rock itself, LEACH know how to get the pit started and maintain focused until the very last track. This dichotomy illustrates the band’s knack of dynamics, while avoiding the trap of being a one trick pony. To top it off, the production is the right level of crisp and rough-n’-ready – a tip to the skills of Christian Silver at Studiomega (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Soilwork and Dragonforce).
Lovely light of life includes the bonus track “D.O.D”, which features Soilwork vocalist, Björn “Speed” Strid. The bands words on the partnership: “Getting Björn to feature on one of our songs is of course a big deal. Us growing up in Sweden, Soilwork were such a big influence on us, still are. And Björn being the pro he is, absolutely nailed it on the first try. Stoked to have him on one of our songs and definitely something we now can check off our bucket list.”

D.O.D will be released as a stand alone digital single on April 16th, along with the start of the pre-sale for Lovely Light of Life. Pre-Save: https://orcd.co/12zzaaj
When coming from such a rich scene as Sweden, a band cannot help but take some influence from their forefathers, in this case, the insistent energy of Raised Fist, the rock n ‘roll parts of latter day Entombed, and the infectious melodies of The Haunted. Also the US gets a look in – with Hatebreed’s snarling bravado, and the thrash-fest of Exodus and Nuclear Assault.
LEACH are a band built for the stage – that much is clear. And with live experiences that stretches from Europe to Dubai – their frantic energy has been proven. They are now excited and willing to take on their work to all corners of the world.
