GHOSTS OF SUNSET To Release New Single ‘All I Wanna Do Is Rock’ With Proceeds Going To Save Our Stages

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 12, 2021

GHOSTS OF SUNSET have been on a roll lately. 2020 was a break-out year for the band with singles Miles In-Between, Never Goodbye and Another Rock N Roll Show clocking up several hundred thousand streams. To top that off the recently released their debut EP Headed West, to strong fan and critical acclaim.

Now the band wants to give something back to the music industry.

With live music being taken away in 2020 and into 2021, Ghosts of Sunset’sJohn Merchant and Todd Long were missing the stage and the fan interaction! With the help of friends Eric Jayk (Wildstreet) and Brandon Fields (Minefield), they wrote a song to do their part to help struggling music venues. The result is All I Wanna Do Is Rock, with proceeds going to Save Our Stages.

All I Wanna Do Is Rock will be released on 29th March on all streaming platforms.

Pre-order/pre-save All I Wanna Do A Rock HERE

Ghosts  of Sunset is the project of singer-songwriter John Merchant from Western Michigan, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Todd Long.

Their EP Headed West features the work of both Merchant and Long (who have made music for 30+ years for 615 Records Nashville, IDOL/RCA records, and independently) as well as a cast of musicians with their roots in the 1980’s hard rock/hair metal scene. The duo brought in outside musicians with resumes that include L.A. Guns, RATT, Enuff Znuff, KIX, Lita Ford, and more to complete the EP. Renowned producer Adam Hamilton (Missing Persons, L.A. Guns, Vains of Jenna, William Shatner, David Hasselhoff) was brought in to mix and contribute keyboards.

The concept takes a fictional Midwestern band and traces their move to Los Angeles, their rise to national touring artist and their decline as tastes and the industry itself changes. The story which has become common fodder for shows such as Behind the Music spoke to both Merchant and Long who came of age during the golden era which became known as “hair metal”. A term speaks to what many saw as a focus on style over substance.

The EP will be released globally by Golden Robot Records, presents the songs in chronological order and the listener not only takes the journey via the lyrics, but also in the production style and writing maturation process. As the six song EP moves along, the tone darkens, the themes reflect the bands disillusionment before ultimately circling back to making music for the “love of the game”.

BAND OF SPICE Release ‘The Fading Spot’ Lyric Video

BAND OF SPICE have released a lyric-video for the song ‘The Fading Spot’ – the first single taken from the upcoming new album ‘By The Corner Of Tomorrow’, out on March 26, 2021 on Scarlet Records.

This is how Spice commented: “When I wrote the lyrics I picture my self as a kid in school, looking out the window. Dreaming about a better place to be. The line ‘I have no intention to speak, cos I have no urge to lie’ is about how everything has become so polarizing and political.”

Since the brilliant Spiritual Beggars came on the hard’n’heavy scene in the mid-90’s, Spice’s voice and charisma have always been synonyms with fine songwriting, rock attitude and a bittersweet touch of melancholy. ‘By The Corner Of Tomorrow’ is the first album that he recorded in standard tuning, aiming for a more “resilient” sound. The iconic cover
artwork was once again made by Luca “Solo Macello” Martinotti (Ennio Morricone, Black Rainbows, Sadist).

WHITE VOID Release New Music Video For “There Is No Freedom But The End”

Today marks the release of WHITE VOID‘s debut album Anti and the eclectic Norwegian hard rock band have another audiovisual treat for their fast-growing fanbase in the form of a stylish new music video for the hauntingly beautiful second track on the record, There Is No Freedom But The End!

Front man Lars Nedland comments:
“Sometimes all we need to feel alive is a drive on a lonely road towards Neon Hell.
‘There Is No Freedom But The End’ is all about contrasts. Light and darkness. Life and death. Rural endlessness and urban loneliness. Monochrome despair and neon panic.
It’s also a song for driving: Music to accompany the freedom movement sometimes makes us feel.
The video was created to capture all this. It’s Drive on LSD and Lost Highway exploding into Neon Urbanity.
You want some colour in your life? Here you go!
“

You can BUY or STREAM the album Anti here: http://nblast.de/WhiteVoid-Anti

WHITE VOID is absence of direction and sense in life. It’s a description of the fundamental disharmony between the individual’s search for meaning and the meaninglessness of the universe.

Eclectic hard rockers WHITE VOID are a curious bunch. Forged in the space between the occult rock of the seventies, the no-excuses-hard rock of the eighties and the British New Wave movement, they balance on the event horizon that separates old from new. Aggression from melody. Dream from drive.

Add to that the fact that the bandmembers of WHITE VOID have their backgrounds in Norwegian black metal, chiptune electronica, pop music and blues, and you’ll see why Anti is an album that’s hard to pin down. It’s darkly melodic, it’s driven, and it’s infused with earworms, hooks and licks. Boasting a shameless attitude, though, it comes forth as deeply true to the core of our shared hard rock heritage.

In the center of WHITE VOID stands Lars Are Nedland, long time member of BORKNAGAR and SOLEFALD. Leading a team of musicians including Tobias Solbakk of IHSAHN fame, electronica staple Vegard Kummen and blues rock virtuoso Eivind Marum, he navigates the waters of hard rock riffs, new wave harmonies and blues rock solos with determination and elegance.

Still, Anti probably doesn’t sound like you think. It’s an album riddled with contrasts and references, musically as well as philosophically. The concept is based on Albert Camus’ Absurdism and deals with how you cope with an existence that is in its core absurd. Musically it draws on the past while forging towards the future. And the result? Well, enter the Void to find out!

ENFORCED Release Video Clip For “UXO”

Today Virginia-based crossover maniacs ENFORCED drop a nine-song cluster-bomb of thrashing death on apathetic times with the release of their new album, “Kill Grid”. In time for the release they are also unleashing a band new video clip for the menacing “UXO”:

ENFORCED are keeping an important tradition of thrash and punk/hardcore alive though: While their brutal tunes are going to wreck your neck there is more to the band than just entertainment: “This song is lyrically self explanatory”, says singer Knox Colby. “It’s about the cluster bombing of Laos during the Vietnam War. The main focus of the lyrics are about the cultural impact that the unexploded ordnance (abbreviated UXO) has had over the last 50 years. Over 20,000 people have died accidentally from stepping on these bombs that are the size of a softball and scattered over the entire country, which is predominantly covered in dense jungle (last I checked, 35% of the country is still contaminated with UXO). It’s an issue the United States has only recently owned up to, but the government won’t apologize for; it’s shameful.” Guitarist Will Wagstaff on the music: “ When this song was written I was listening to 2 specific songs on repeat. ‘Dying’ by Obituary and ‘Corporal Jigsore Quandary’ by Carcass. Both tracks are just so driving with the double bass and grooviness and I wanted to try to write something somewhat in that vein.”

“Kill Grid” came together over a two-year period while ENFORCED were marauding halls and dive bars across the East Coast and Canada. Indeed, inspiration came from different directions, but playing live with bands like Sacred Reich, Red Death, Iron Reagan, All Out War, and Integrity shaped what was to come out of the Richmonders. While it was the previous output that attracted the attention of Century Media, it’s “Kill Grid”, that’s going to put ENFORCED on top-lists of circle pit lunatics around the globe. To track their sophomore full-length, ENFORCED enlisted long-time friend and studio maven Bob Quirk (Iron Reagan) to engineer, as well as Philadelphia-based studio whiz Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Cavalera Conspiracy, Pissed Jeans, Eternal Champion, Ghostemane, Code Orange) to mix and master.

Formed in Richmond in 2017 out of shreds of disbanded hardcore and punk bands, ENFORCED quickly found their calling between the undying support of regional punk/hardcore scenes and their respective record collections. Whether it’s Sacred Reich and Integrity or Bolt Thrower and Amebix, “Pure Crossover Death,” as ENFORCED call their devastating din, devastatingly speared its way through two demos (“Demo 2017” and “Retaliation”) and their no-holds-barred debut, “At the Walls”.

Italian Technical Death Metal force HIDEOUS DIVINITY finally release “Acheron, Stream of Woe”, the first track from their upcoming EP release “LV-426” on April 23rd, accompanied by a lyric video featuring the stunning cover artwork of this release. Find the video HERE

The band comments:

“’Acheron, Stream of Woe’ marks another step in our sound progression. Just like James Horner’s original score, we searched for all the dramatic and dissonant elements our music could achieve. It has been a great time, both the songwriting and the studio time. We felt good, we felt at home.
Oh, and this time is about Aliens. Not a coincidence, for sure. A year has passed from the beginning of… all this. A year during which we all had to face our monsters. Very real ones. Enjoy.”

Pre-Order starts today – get your copy or stream it here https://hideousdivinity.lnk.to/LV-426/

Italian based technical Death Metal diehards Hideous Divinity deliver their staggering conceptual EP “LV-426”. The concept of the EP is a sub-narrative of the second Alien movie, directed by James Cameron.

The band states “We chose to concentrate on the story of Rebeca ‘Newt’ Jorden, the 6-year old girl rescued on the alien infested planetoid LV-426 by Ellen Ripley. We live the story from her point of view, a mixture of childhood’s happy life and memories cut off by the alien attack.”

The EP includes two brand-new Hideous Divinity tracks (“Acheron, Stream of Woe” & “Chestburst”) and a smashing Tech-Death cover version of Coheed and Cambrias “Delirium Trigger”. Like it´s predecessor “Simulacrum” the EP has been produced by Stefan Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio who refined the bands signature sound consisting of bone-crushing riffs, superb drumming, and frightful vocals. Also, the EP features a stunning Alien-themed artwork by Colin Estrada.

  1. Acheron, Stream of Woe (06:43)
  2. Chestburst (04:00)
