Swedish doom metal gods CANDLEMASS perform their classic tracks during lockdown, Presented on this CD/DVD release, including ‘Well of Souls’, ‘Bewitched’ & More, plus new track ‘Astorolus’.
After over 35 years of existence, Candlemass still stand tall as true heavy metal greats & kings of doom, in the footsteps of their influences, Black Sabbath. The band is renowned for the genre-defining masterpieces ‘Epicus Doomicus Metallicus’ (1986) & ‘Nightfall’ (1987), with Candlemass still thrilling an ever-devoted and expanding legion of fans to this day.
Following a year where most live activity has not been possible, ‘Green Valley Live’ features the band’s “lockdown” session (their only 2020 show, and first ever live streamed event), with the line-up of Johan Längqvist (vocals), Mats Björkman (guitar), Lars Johansson (guitar), Leif Edling (bass) & Jan Lindh (drums) delivering their crushing sound for the masses. The release contains numerous classic Candlemass doom anthems in the shape of ‘Well of Souls’, ‘Mirror Mirror’, ‘Betwitched’ and others from the band’s legendary first four albums, as well as the titanic ‘Astorolus’ from the band’s latest opus.
‘Green Valley Live’ will be released on a double disc CD/DVD format, a gatefold double LP both with the booklet including liner notes from founder Leif Edling and digitally on 7th May, via Peaceville.
ATREYU have announced their new album Baptize, out June 4 via Spinefarm Records. Furthermore, the band has shared not one but two brand new songs from the record.
Listen to the anthemic “Warrior,” featuring Travis Barker, and “Underrated.” here!
“‘Warrior’ is song about persistence and never giving up,” the band shares. “We hope this song can be the puzzle piece that helps people realize that we ALL have the capacity for greatness. Sometimes, greatness can exist in the shadows and lives buried under negativity, trauma, or anxiety. ‘Warrior’ is about searching through all of that endless darkness to finally find the sunrise.”
Atreyu continues, “When we wrote ‘Warrior,’ the idea to do a big marching drum break came about. We wanted it to feel like a hometown football game. Travis Barker was the perfect person to bring this to life. It’s cool to have him be a part of the song and to perform in a different light than what people may be used to.”
About “Underrated,” the band says, “We’ve always had to prove ourselves. We’ve never been handed anything nor have we taken any shortcuts. It’s never been ‘the easy way.’ Over two decades later, we’re still making our mark.”

Finally, there’s a cvlt worth joining! As it often seems modern rock music has lost its sense of palpable danger and mystique, Finnish occult murder pop innovators CVLT OV THE SVN mark their return in full force with their grim, addictive first full length, We Are The Dragon! Slated for release on May 7, 2021 via Napalm Records, CVLT OV THE SVN’s debut embodies a reverberating sense of eeriness, danger and fear, enriched with a pinch of gothic romanticism and pitch-black seduction.
With the unveiling of previously-released goth-boppers like “Twilight”, “The Pit”, “Whore Of Babylon” and “Luna In The Sky Forever”, CVLT OV THE SVN have already proven how to successfully merge seething heaviness and sweet pop melodies. Now, the mysterious visionary behind the cvlt, who actually started out as a black metal drummer, finally sets free his casket full of morbid horror theatrics. Inspired by movies like The Exorcist and the all devouring darkness itself, he also draws inspiration not only from the heavy rock genre and greats like Type O Negative and Turbonegro, but the nostalgic influences of mainstream artists like Roxette as well.
Today, CVLT OV THE SVN have shared the new single “My Venom”, a track that will send shivers down your spine! First evoking an eerie horror atmosphere in the verse, the mystical vocal performance of the project’s mysterious frontman leads into a sweet and seductive refrain shortly after. Join the cvlt and watch the brand new clip here:
The anonymous band mastermind states:
“‘My Venom’ represents the issues within my soul. I think it’s important to go and face your fears, or they will rule you. The video has a dark mood, which is what I always want present in my work. I don’t do the videos with a big crew as I want my own vibe in them. I’m sort of a dictator in that sense. Spread the word!”
CVLT OV THE SVN’s sound feels dangerously unsettling, lacing its churning heaviness with pop melodies that travel right through your ears to your central nervous system. Conceptually conveying a variety of extreme emotions, each of the album’s twelve tracks cut through the noise of society like a razorblade, leaving a long-lasting impression on the listener that’ll have them clamoring for more!
“When I wrote these songs, I wanted to push people’s boundaries,” he adds.
In addition to the macabre thrills of their music, there’s the character he takes on stage, twisting the dagger of perception even further like your favorite horror flick and making for a combined experience that cuts deep and close to the bone.
The creative cvlt leader continues:
“It’s easier to tell those grim stories through another identity, another character. Black cloaks just go with it, obviously.I’m a big fan of suspense and this kind of content is all about the surprises. I find it is an intriguing realm to explore. Whatever lies ahead, CVLT OV THE SVN will adapt and thrive.”
We Are The Dragon Tracklist: 01. We Are The Dragon 02. My Venom 03. Don’t Be Tender Love Me Cruel 04. Hellbound 05. Dancing With The Devil 06. Twilight 07. I’m Gonna Find Out 08. Luna In The Sky Forever 09. The Murderer 10. Whore Of Babylon 11. The Pit 12. Another Infinity

Sweet (Left to Right) – Lee Small (bass, vocals), Bruce Bisland (drums, vocals), Paul Manzi (lead vocals),
Andy Scott (lead guitar, vocals), Steve Mann (guitar, keyboards)
Legendary Glam Rockers SWEET featuring original guitarist Andy Scott, have released their new single “Set Me Free”. the new single is taken from the band’s new lockdown album “Isolation Boulevard” which is available on digital and vinyl. The CD is available to pre-order.
Sweet have also released the official “Set Me Free” music video that can be viewed HERE.
Andy Scott is available for interview to talk about the new single and album, plus Sweet’s rescheduled November and December 2021 UK Tour.
“Isolation Boulevard” features all the Sweet’s classic hit singles and was recorded with the new line-up during lockdowns between September and October 2020.
“Isolation Boulevard” is a reworking of Sweet’s 1975 multi-million selling album “Desolation Boulevard”. The new single, a re-recorded version of “Set Me Free”, is taken from the “Isolation Boulevard” album. Hailed by many as one of the most covered songs in Sweet’s repertoire, this marks the first time the band has released it as an official single.
Over the years, the song has been covered by many rock artists including Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) and Saxon.
“Recording an album separately in different locations throws up a myriad of technical problems,” says Andy Scott. “It’s impossible for everyone to play at the same time, so all parts are performed the “old” way and then data transferred back to base camp where the magical digital stuff takes over.”
Continues Andy, “Sweet would usually record all together in the studio with a performance rather than individually but the pandemic dictated the ways and means. The result is a mind-blowing set of tracks, all the hits and a barrage of heavy-duty glam rock.”

Two weeks after the official release of THE AMENTA‘s fourth album “Revelator”, the Australian Avantgarde Metalheads add eerie and Horror-esk moving pictures to another one of their tracks. Acknowledging the theatric feeling of their new compositions, ‘Psoriastasis’ is the third song – after ‘Sere Money’ and ‘An Epoch Ellipsis’ – for which movie maker and artist Garth Hurley and frontman Cain Cressall amplify THE AMENTA’s art with visual components.
For the presentation of clip, Debemur Morti Productions teamed up with Metal Injection, and writer Corinne Westbrook rightfully describes the moving pictures with the following words:
“‘Psoriastasis‘ […] is a punishing assault, with brief bursts of hissing synth and a desolate mid-song breakdown that tempers the otherwise unrelenting track. The visuals accompanying the single are pure nightmare fuel to give you the creeps.”
‘Psoriastasis‘ can now be streamed on the YouTube channel of Debemur Morti Productions.
Cain Cressall – vocalist and horror movie fanatic – enjoys giving birth to the cinematic atmosphere present in THE AMENTA’s new compositions, as he states in a longer comment:
“Each track has a very cinematic feel about it. There is a great depth in terms of the production values, as well as the dynamics between instruments, dynamics within the arrangements, and the range of emotional expression. These are all factors which were considered very intensely throughout the entire evolution of the record. Whether a song leans more heavily toward atmospheric qualities or toward solid hooks, they each have a unique, stand-alone personality which drags the listener through a visceral journey. It just came down to time, and how many songs we could realistically create solid visual accompaniment for, amongst everything else that was going on. Essentially, we chose songs which give a good representation of the various flavours that can be found across the album. ‘Psoriastasis’ may be the most upfront, aggressive song on the album. After a few clips of songs that showed off more ambient aspects of the mind, we thought it was time to tear some faces off.”
Followers of THE AMENTA’s work will notice that the video clip for ‘Psoriastasis‘ resembles more the one done for ‘Sere Money‘ than the black and white attack which ‘An Epoch Ellipsis‘ has to offer. This was a conscious choice, but not so much because these songs are more intertwined, but because the idea and approach to finding fitting images for both compositions followed the same idea:
“With ‘Psoriastasis’ we wanted to return to the same method of actively listening to the subconscious to suggest the images that make up the clip. I have noticed, in viewing the clips again, that there are certain themes and images that have re-occurred across each clip. It will be interesting to know if others spot them. Both ‘Sere Money’ and ‘Psoriastasis’, while not consciously linked, do come from the same well-spring of subconscious suggestion and so they have a similar feel, and potentially similar themes, without that being something we have attempted to force”, explains Cain.
Helpful for the creation of the visual elements for both ‘Sere Money‘ and ‘Psoriastasis‘ and for finding suitable actors and actresses were vocalist Cain’s good contacts into the world of theatre, as he narrates vividly:
“I reached out to a West Australian talent agency called O Entertainment who organized the ballerinas for the ‘Sere Money’ video. I have worked in various backstage theatre roles over the years, so I’m very fortunate to have a lot of wonderful contacts in the WA theatre industry. The ‘Sere Money’ dancers were such brilliant performers and professionals, so returning to their agent just seemed like an obvious place to start looking for performance kids. Obviously, young girls working with a complete stranger is a delicate issue. For me to be choreographing the kids on my own, looking like an utterly disturbed creeper, would have certainly been a very ambitious venture! Thankfully, the agency’s director, Olivia O., accompanied us on set to lead the children under my guidance. The kids have a strong relationship with Olivia as a fantastic teacher and choreographer, so it was essential in making the experience comfortable for the children, as well as their mothers (who were also on set with us). It must have been quite a bizarre experience for the kids and their Mums, since their only experience up until that point was in traditional, conventional forms of dance!
“Revelator” is out now on CD, vinyl, tape, and digitally. Orders are possible via the label’s EU, US, and Bandcamp shops.
THE AMENTA is ugly, dissonant, electronically-lacerated Extreme Metal from Australia, featuring the core creative line-up of Cain Cressall (Vocals), Erik Miehs (Guitars) and Timothy Pope (Keyboards, Samples & Effects) with Dan Quinlan (Bass) and drummer David Haley (PSYCROPTIC, ex-ABORTED) rounding out the lineup.
Early experiments with dissonance resulted in 2002’s “Mictlan” MCD. Two years later, the band had signed to Listenable Records who released the debut full length, “Occasus”. Next came 2008’s divisive “n0n” album. “n0n” was a dense, ugly, sprawling hymn to urban decay. A filthy paean to political manipulation. It was anti-everything.
Upon returning to Australia after extensive European and American touring, THE AMENTA recorded a free download of a huge multimedia release in 2011 entitled “V01D”. The release featured the new title track, re-recordings of tracks from the two previous albums, as well as professionally filmed and recorded live performances and film clips. The new song showcased one of many new directions THE AMENTA could take. Epic chords held in stasis by drones: melody where before there had only been dissonance.
In 2013, THE AMENTA released “Flesh Is Heir”. The most organic and open of THE AMENTA’s releases to date, “Flesh Is Heir” built huge sculptures of sound from decayed choir loops and found percussion, the strongest riffs and guitar hooks in THE AMENTA back catalogue and an immaculate vocal performance.
After taking a hiatus from live performance in 2014, the band resumed activity in 2019. Inchoate rumblings slowly took shape. In 2020, THE AMENTA is excited to announce a partnership with Debemur Morti Productions, a label whose name is synonymous with art and with the most forward thinking bands in extreme music.
