CRYPTOSIS have released their new single & video “Death Technology”, watch the video below.

The band have checked in with the following quote:

“For decades, people have tried to store their deceased bodies using low-temperature freezing techniques. This song is about a person who wakes up from cryosleep in the year 2149 and realises he is being detained and used as a test subject in a secret lab. The lyrics describe a technology that is very advanced and complex seen through the eyes of the testsubject.

The music is a reflection of that intricate technology. The riffs are built in a technical and extremely fast paced style. Whereas the structure of the song is built in the opposite direction, resembling the old yet simple world that this person is coming from.“

JEFFERSON STARSHIP Release Official Video For ‘Setting Sun’

Legendary rock band JEFFERSON STARSHIP (featuring David Freiberg, Donny Baldwin, Cathy Richardson, Chris Smith, and Jude Gold) released their new EP, Mother of the Sun via Golden Robot Records in August 2020 and now the band have released the Official Video for the track Setting Sun.

Mother of the Sun is Jefferson Starship‘s first collection of new songs in 12 years.

Setting Sun features David Freiberg on lead vocals and highlighted by slide guitar by Jude Gold, the bluesy rock anthem penned by Cathy Richardson and David Freiberg tells the story of a fugitive on the run.

Jefferson Starship features founding singer/multi-instrumentalist David Freiberg (who was also in Jefferson Airplane during the band’s final year), longtime drummer Donny Baldwin (who joined Jefferson Starship in 1982 and also played and sang on many hits of the band’s Starship era), lead singer Cathy Richardson (whom Kantner recruited in 2008), 25-year member Chris Smith on keyboards, and lead guitarist Jude Gold, who joined in 2012.

The current lineup of Jefferson Starship is dedicated to breathing new life into this timeless music in their live shows. Metal Shock Finland’s Exclusive Premiere for Nordic Territory: THAEIA – First Single ‘Osservati’ From Upcoming EP

Roma’s alt/prog metal five-piece, THAEIA, have teamed up with Metal Shock Finland to premiere, for Nordic territory, their first single and video ‘Osservati‘, taken from their upcoming EP ‘Datura Metel Vol I‘.

THAEIA are back! The Roman Alt/Prog Metal five-piece, after their debut in 2017 with the already promising ‘Yugen’, are back on the scene with their new EP ‘Datura Metel Vol I’, recorded and produced by Marco Mantovani at Forward studio, and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling studios (Korn, Deftones). The release, out on May 28th, contains all the trademarks of the band but elevated, to effortlessly push the boundaries of their sound: groove ridden riffs brought by the double addition to the line-up of guitarists Federico Tiero and Francesco Capuani, mixed with abrasive growls quickly followed by soaring vocals, adding nu-metal vibes to the sound palette.

The addictive nature of their style has been strengthened through a dedicated live activity that has brought them to renowned stages such as Euroblast or supporting acts like Protest the Hero between the others.

ELDER’s Nick DiSalvo To Release ‘Delving’ Solo-Album

For many who lived through it, 2020 will forever be the year that time stopped. Especially for those who thrive in packed, sweaty environment – musicians, concertgoers, even humble record label operators – this led to some pretty fundamental changes in the way we spent our time. Enough with the platitudes: delving is a new project by Nick DiSalvo (better known as the frontman of Elder and one half of Gold & Silver) long in the making but finally taking off in this dreaded year where creativity was relegated exclusively to one’s own domain.

DiSalvo elaborates:

“I’m an almost obsessive songwriter, working on music every day and amassing a huge collection of song fragments and ideas that often don’t get the attention I’d like because of the time I spend with my main band. ‘Thanks’ to this pandemic, I’ve had plenty of time to pick up some of the songs I’ve written over the past years and finally make an album that I’ve been telling myself forever I’d do.

From my earliest moments as a musician, I have been obsessed with home recordings, begging my parents for a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder for Christmas when I was 12 and making my own albums. delving is a continuation of this creative spirit: experimenting all on my own, forgetting bands, fans and expectations and making whatever music I want to.”

The debut album Hirschbrunnen will be released in May 2021 through Stickman Records. It is a collection of songs that display a wide range of influences from psychedelic rock, early electronic music, 70’s prog as well as jazz and even ambient sounds – yet all with a distinct songwriting style that DiSalvo has come to be known for. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Richard Behrens and Emanuele Baratto at Big Snuff Studio.

“Hirschbrunnen – “stag fountain” – is the colloquial name of a large fountain that presides over a large green area near where I live.“ DiSalvo continues. “For me, it’s been strange to see my world, which normally consists of a fair amount of travel and external stimuli, reduced to one city, one district, one block for so long. Frustrating as that is, you might start to find inspiration and surprising beauty in your everyday surroundings that you otherwise would have ignored. Just as all the music I make is influenced by my experiences, Hirschbrunnen is a product of this unique and strange time in which we all have been forced to delve more deeply into our own thoughts.”

MENTAL CRUELTY Return With New Single ‘Ultima Hypocrita’, Feat. Yo Onityan

German haunting death metallers MENTAL CRUELTY have released new single / video ‘Ultima Hypocrita’ featuring Japanese virtuoso guitarist Yo Onityan. This is the first new music heard from their upcoming album A Hill To Die Upon, out 28th May via Unique Leader.

The video script for ‘Ultima Hypocrita’ was written by guitarist Marvin Kessler and filmed last week in seven days. The song is closed with a musical and emotional highlight, a guitar solo performed and written by Japanese guitarist Yo Onityan, who also plays in Rings Of Saturn.

Founded in 2016 in Germany, the quintet have established themselves as one of the most exciting bands on the extreme underground, touring Europe with Rings Of Saturn and Nekrogoblikon in 2019 and North America with Signs Of The Swarm and Disentomb. Now with two albums under their belts, including 2019’s critically acclaimed Inferis, produced by Sky Van Hoff (Rammstein, Kreator), they have become well known for their signature blackened breakdowns, blast beats, epic arrangements and slamming brutality.

Mental Cruelty will further explore their sound on new album A Hill To Die Upon, which heralds a new era for the band.

IMPURE WILHELMINA Reveal New Album Details, Share First Single

IMPURE WILHELMINA will be releasing their seventh full-length, ‘Antidote,’ on May 21 via Season of Mist! The artwork, details, and tracklist can be found below. In conjunction witht he  The album is set for worldwide release on May 21st, 2021. The first new chapter ‘Gravel’ can now be viewed, in the form of a music video, via the official Season of Mist YouTube channel HERE. 

IMPURE WILHELMINA comment on the track: “‘Gravel’ is a hymn to human pain. It starts in a dark mood, continues with a tortuous verse and ends with a chorus that we can’t help but sing along. And this is how one will fulfill one’s destiny. Indeed, man’s destiny is to sing his sorrow, in the howling wind, as he bends under heavy burdens, his feet in the mud, under the pale glow of sardonic stars. Directed by Steven Blatter, the video transcribes the turmoil induced by this cold fatality, in a sad, mineral and epic atmosphere.“

Music heals the soul, as it always has. “Antidote” evokes this simple idea, illustrating the cathartic aspect of IMPURE WILHELMINA‘s 7th full length. It acts as a remedy against the darker sides of the human mind.

For 25 years, IMPURE WILHELMINA has been creating a singular music on the borders of rock and metal. The Geneva quartet has never been afraid to reinvent itself and to push back the stylistic barriers, without ever losing its strong identity. Intensity, melody, power and melancholy are the key words that guide the band’s discography, shaping record after record a subtle blend of metal, post-hardcore, new wave and indie rock sounds.

IMPURE WILHELMINA has experienced many line-up changes over the years around Michael Schindl, singer-guitarist, main composer and lyricist. Founded in 1996, the group quickly built a reputation in the local, then Swiss and European independent scenes. 

IMPURE WILHELMINA has regularly collaborated with sound engineers and producers Serge Morattel (I Can’t Believe I Was Born In July – 2001, L’Amour, La Mort, L’Enfance Perdue – 2004, Prayers And Arsons – 2008) and Raphaël Bovey (Black Honey – 2014, Radiation – 2017). These five albums illustrate the constant musical evolution of the band, which from a very dark and metal base gradually incorporates more rock elements. The clear vocals occupy an increasingly important place in the compositions, reinforcing the intensity and melodic depth.

In 2015, thanks to the great response to Black Honey, IMPURE WILHELMINA  signed with the reference metal label Season of Mist, which published ‘Radiation’ two years later in 2017. Skilfully navigating between melodies and dissonances, always at the service of raw emotion, this sixth album was unanimously acclaimed by the press and the public, opening the doors to wider recognition.

After intensely touring all over Europe to promote ‘Radiation’, the band received great reward by being one of the four recipients of the 2019 grants for contemporary music awarded by the City of Geneva. This support has allowed Impure Wilhelmina to approach their new album with confidence and the will to develop their sound and get out of their comfort zone. The band put a lot of efforts in the elaboration and production of its new songs, notably by calling on Yvan Bing, producer and sound engineer, to accompany the four musicians throughout the creation process of the album. This successful collaboration began in the summer of 2019 and continued for over a year, giving rise to IMPURE WILHELMINA‘s seventh album, ‘Antidote’.

In the context of the pandemic that marked part of the recording of ‘Antidote’ and its long completion, this title also resonates in a very particular way. Welcome to this journey into uncharted musical lands.
