Last Friday, February 19th, internationally renowned Renaissance folk rock band BLACKMORE’S NIGHT released their new single and music video ‘Nature’s Light’. It’s the title track taken from their upcoming studio of the same name, due for release on March 12th, 2021.
According to Ritchie Blackmore, ‘Nature’s Light’ is dedicated to the unique magic of renaissance faires. “I heard something that was a similar kind of melody, so I took that melody and gave it to Candice.”, he describes the inception of the song. “I said, ‘This represents people going to a faire, a very ceremonial thing, with the King and Queen coming through.’ and it needed to have the bombastic pageantry of celebration. A regal announcement that royalty was coming to town.”
Blackmore’s Night have without a doubt succeeded in evoking the traditional bombast of medieval compositions. And, like the royalty coming to town in the song’s story, ‘Nature’s Light’ is now available for immediate Streaming and Download: https://blackmoresnight.lnk.to/NaturesLight_Single
RICKY WARWICK has released his first solo record in five years with ‘When Life Was Hard And Fast’. To celebrate the release of the new album, Ricky has also released a lyric video for the album’s closing track ‘You’re My Rock And Roll’ – a bombastic ode to the powerful, majestic and life affirming addiction that is rock ‘n’ roll.
Ricky comments on the release of his new album “This album is a statement of my intent, a love of rock n roll, songwriting and playing from the heart. The only way I know how. I’m so honored I now have the opportunity to share it with all of you!”
Hard Rock, Graphic Novel Art Project SEPTEMBER MOURNING storms into 2021 with a visually stunning music video for their newest single, “Kill This Love”. Originally premiered on Metal Injection the video was created by Rich Juzwick and is the follow up to “Wake The Dead” in preparation for the band’s upcoming full length release, Volume IV; “Kill This Love” is their second single partnered with Legend Recordings & INgrooves.
“’Kill this Love’ is the musical adaptation of a specific feeling…. the heaviness one feels in their heart when it becomes the obvious prey of someone or something they cannot escape from.
The music alternates back and forth from heavy to sparse in an almost agitated way as to depict the emotional rollercoaster of the lyric.
As pertaining to the comic, ‘Kill this Love’ depicts the inner struggle of the protagonist September as she looks back on her battle with Fate and the strange pull he seems to have over her. She struggles internally with her desire to fight for what she loves and the pain it brings her.” – SEPTEMBER MOURNING

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the signing of THE EMBER, THE ASH, who will release their sophomore album via the label this Spring. Fixation is a seven track album due for release on May 14. The solo endeavor of a musical polymath who goes only by the name 鬼, THE EMBER, THE ASH is a project shrouded in mystery – yet also offers recognisable glimpses into emotional turmoil. The first track to be taken from the album, Strychnine, is streaming everywhere now. Fixation is available to preorder here.
Speaking on Strychnine‘s release, 鬼 comments: “Strychnine opens up the record with an abysmal descent into the tormented mind of an individual plagued by intrusive thoughts and suicidal ideation. I wanted to establish Fixation’s aggressive atmosphere with a track that was instrumentally heavy and concise, as well as lyrically somber to set the tone for the record’s overarching themes.”
Of the signing to Prosthetic, they add:”I’m elated to announce my partnership with Prosthetic Records for the release of Fixation. I grew up admiring many of the alumni in their catalog, and it’s wonderful to be sitting here amidst a fantastic current roster. After meeting some of the team, I’m confident the project is in good hands, and together we can actualize the record’s full potential.”
Distinct from their work as Unreqvited, Fixation follows on from THE EMBER, THE ASH’s 2019 highly acclaimed release, Consciousness Torn From The Void. Straddling the gulf between symphonic black metal and textured metalcore, Fixation is a unique blend of ice cold precision and a swirl of enveloping audio textures. The seven tracks that make up the album were written in 2019/20 before being entirely self-recorded and mixed in their home studio; mastering was handled by Nekkomix.
With a theme that picks through the debris of mental illness, 鬼 drew upon their own experiences of witnessing a loved one suffer through a traumatic episode. Exploring their own reaction to the fraught timeline of events, 鬼 channels their emotional response into the lyrics and music that make up Fixation. Suicidal ideation and spiraling thought patterns loom large over the album that is steeped in sombre atmosphere throughout. The distress of both witnessing and harboring such dark thoughts are at the core of the record’s aggressive sound as well as its lyrical content.
Fixation will be released via Prosthetic Records on May 14.
Fixation tracklist: 1. Strychnine 2. Fixation 3. Becoming the Eidolon 4. The Colossal Void 5. Celestial Fracture 6. A Growing Emptiness 7. Conciousness Torn from the Void
Next week, New York City-based multi-instrumentalist TIMO ELLIS – widely known as the vocalist/frontman for Netherlands, as well as his extensive catalog of recordings with countless international mainstream artists – will unveil his latest solo EP, Death Is Everywhere. With the record’s release only a week away, a video for the title track is now playing exclusively through a Brooklyn Vegan premiere.
Death Is Everywhere sees TIMO ELLIS handling all songwriting and instrumentation including drums, bass, guitars, vocals, and keyboards. Over four dense and intense tracks, elements of a wide array of genres, styles, and instrumentation are seamlessly mutated into a white-knuckled ride that stampedes straight through the confines of any sort of genre boundaries. Buoyant, rampant, and incessantly imaginative, the tracks bob and weave across a range of tempos and textures and keep the listener curiously hooked. Highly recommended for fans of the Melvins, Curtis Mayfield, Queens Of The Stone Age, Nomeansno, and The Beach Boys.
ELLIS reveals with the “Death Is Everywhere” video premiere, “A funky sludge/R&B song in 7/8, this song is about how – in my opinion – modern, hyper-individualist, hyper-mediated capitalist life more and more deeply hoodwinks people into confusing nihilism with liberation, and generally how modern post-industrial civilization, contrary to appearances, is functionally a runaway, ecocidal death cult.”
BrooklynVegan agrees: “‘Funky sludge/R&B’ is the perfect way to describe this song, as well as previous single ‘Vampire Rodeo,’ both of which kinda have a Sabbath-meets-QOTSA thing going on. But as he always does, TIMO makes it his own.”

Recorded by TIMOELLIS at Shame Party Studios, mixed by Tom Tierney at Spaceman Sound, mastered by Ron A. Shaffer at Atlantic West Studios, Death Is Everywhere was completed with album design by Todd Kancar.
Death Is Everywherewill see independent digital release next Friday, February 26th. Find preorders HERE.

UK’s rising metal force PRIMITAI have released their second music video for the single “The Uprising”. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming full-length album “Violence Of The Skies” that will be out on March 26, 2021 via ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records!
Filming and post-production – Mind Art Visual Location – Blondies rock bar, Clapton
Primitai explained the concept behind the song: “The Uprising is about hitting back against those that oppress you and underestimate you. The marching pace of the verses build up to the uplifting chorus, and then all hell breaks loose with frantic guitar soloing as “The Uprising” reaches its critical mass. The music video was shot at Blondies bar in Clapton, our favourite rock bar in London and one of the few places where we were able to have (socially distanced) band drinks and fun in 2020 – thanks to the crew for having us. Look out for the special appearance of our longtime Spanish guitarist Sergio Giron! After the musical journey and progressive flavour of our first single Valley of Darkness, with The Uprising we give a nod to heavy metal’s rock n’ roll roots.”
Digital single of “The Uprising” is now available across all digital and streaming platforms!
