Ecuador’s BLACK SUN Share Award Winning Music Video “Terror Zone”

Well known in their home country of Ecuador and South America for supporting bands like Judas Priest, Kreator, Firewind (Immortals Tour 2018), Edguy, UDO, and more, heavy metal trio BLACK SUN unleashed their new EP “Silent Enemy” during September 2020 via Rockshots Records. The EP follows the band’s three previous albums “The Pupetteer” (2017), “Dance of Elders” (2010), and “Tyrant From a Foreign Land” (2015).

Today, BLACK SUN release a new videoclip for the song “TERROR ZONE” with special footage taken from Black Sun’s award winner shortfilm “SILENT ENEMY”, featuring Henning Basse (Firewind / Metalium). The music video is an extract from their award-winning short film (total of 32 awards listed below from multiple film festivals), which can be found on the BluRay edition of “Silent Enemy“.

Silent Enemy is a musical short film based on the new concept music by Black Sun. Silent Enemy’s (album) music inspired the director and screenwriter Gustavo Arguello to write and direct the film produced by Black Sun. This cinematographic work counts with renowned Ecuadorian actors José Andrés Caballero and Mare Cevallos as its main protagonists. Silent Enemy, the film, has already been awarded 32 awards at different international film festivals. Along with a musical background, the story of John Doe’s journey through turbulent times unfolds, finally coming to understand himself when the film’s message is revealed. Silent Enemy is independently produced and was filmed and produced in Guayaquil, Ecuador. A Black Sun and Bobui Studios production, this film paves the way for experimentation and rediscovery of the musical film concept.

Guests include Finnish metal legends and talents like Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), Lordi, Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast), Pasi Rantanen (Thunderstone), Elias Viljanen (Sonata Arctica ), Netta Laurenne (Smackbound), Jukka Pelkonen (Omnium Gatherum), Asim Searah (Wintersun/Damnation Plan), Topias Kupiainen (Arion), Henning Basse (Firewind), Petri Lindroos (Ensiferum / Norther) and JF Aguirre (JF Aguirre Project). HAMFERÐ Launch New Video For “Frosthvarv (Live in the Eysturoy Tunnel)”

Faroese melodic death/doom sextet HAMFERРhave launched a video for “Frosthvarv (Live in the Eysturoy Tunnel)”, which can be viewed at: youtu.be/GEEp3XlKVbc. The track is taken from their 2018 album, Támsins likam.

Hamferð comments: “Through the band’s history, we’ve always been fascinated by performing in untraditional venues. So when we got the opportunity of actually playing beneath the bottom of the ocean, it was obviously something which we had to do. The tunnel and the sculptures by Tróndur Patursson really add to the atmosphere of the music, and we hope that the atmosphere translates through the video so people are able to enjoy it wherever they are.”

Be sure to catch Hamferð during Metal Injection‘s “Slay At Home” livestream this Friday, February 19th – featuring other performances by members of Paradise Lost, Spirit Adrift, Pallbearer, and more. Kicking off at 12PM PST//3PM EST//9PM CET, fans can tune in at: youtu.be/foFo5-7-eDg

Hamferð‘s latest release – 2019’s Ódn – is an EP that features the previously unreleased title track on side A and a bare-bones rendition of “Deyðir varðar” (from 2013’s Evst) on Side B, both performed live on unique occasions. The band explains: “‘Ódn’ is the very first Hamferð-song, first performed in the autumn of 2008 and never before published. It is built from three very different sections, which still represent our music today: one part foreboding, one part violent and one part elegiac. The parts follow the narrative of a sailor over three chapters; first braving an increasingly stormy ocean, then reflecting on a long life sailing the very seas that now threaten his life, and finally surrendering to the waves. The title translates to ‘violent storm’ or ‘hurricane’.”

TEN Singer GARY HUGHES Releases New Official Audio Track ‘Electra-Glide’

British singer and songwriter GARY HUGHES is happy to share with you the official audio track for “Electra-Glide”, from the upcoming his solo album entitled “Waterside”, which will be released on March 12, 2021 via Frontiers Music Srl.

The track can be streamed from HERE:

“Decades”, the double CD Best-of collection, which encompasses three decades of Gary Hughes’ solo work in a newly Remastered format and offers some of the best Hughes’ songs taken from his releases, “Precious Ones”, “Veritas”, “Once and Future King Parts I and II” and his self-titled release “Gary Hughes”, alongside rare tracks which were originally only released in Japan on the “In Your Eyes” EP, will be released on the same day.

“It is great to step back into solo mode again for a short while. The songs on my new ‘Waterside’ album are filled with light and shade. Very much lighter than my heavier and deeper Ten material. We live in such testing times and I have tried to create a piece of Melodic AOR that might lift the spirits and allow for a little much needed escapism. There is definitely a positive feel good factor to this collection of songs and I truly hope the fans enjoy listening to it,” enthuses Hughes The aforementioned feel good factor is never so prevalent as in the song and video for the title track ‘Waterside’. Hughes explains, “The Waterside video is a very straight forward jacket, jeans and Fender Telecaster affair. A slice of Anglo-Americana. A nod back to the mid ’80s and the golden age of laid back melodic rock. We enjoyed making this one immensely!”

Over the course of three decades in music, Gary Hughes has established himself as one of England’s premiere Melodic Rock/Hard Rock singers and songwriters. With fourteen TEN studio albums, one rock opera (in two parts), and much more, the body of work that he has amassed during his career is truly impressive. Gary’s work with his band TEN offers a hard rock sound which is rooted in the tradition of bands such as UFO, WHITESNAKE, and RAINBOW. Historically, his solo material has offered a more melodic sound which has strong roots in the late 80’s AOR and Melodic Rock scene. The new solo album,“Waterside,” marks his long awaited return to Melodic Rock. This is also his first new solo album since his“Veritas” release well over a decade ago.

Musically, this is what you would expect from Gary as a follow up to his self-titled solo record and “Precious Ones,” but also it includes hints of early Ten (the more melodic moments of “X” and “The Name of the Rose,” as a reference point).

Assisting Gary in the creation of this new solo album are his Ten bandmates Dann Rosingana (guitars) and Darrel Treece-Birch (drums), with David Rosingana appearing on bass and Karen Fell and Scott Hughes helping on background vocals. If you like British Melodic Rock, then look no further, “Waterside” is an awesome example of how truly stunning the style can be!

CROWBAR Return With Exclusive Livestream This Saturday, February 20th

The legendary masters of NOLA sludge, CROWBAR, will return to your screen with an exclusive livestream this weekend!

Set to commence Saturday, February 20th at 4:00pm EST / 1:00pm PST with on-demand replays through February 22nd, the multi-camera event will feature an updated setlist of CROWBAR bruisers and serves as a precursor to the band’s eagerly anticipated, as-yet-untitled full-length, set for release later this year via Entertainment One (eOne).

Comments founding guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein, “We’re getting ready for our third CROWBAR livestream! We have a few surprises in the setlist for everyone, and we’re upping our production by bringing in Mike Holderbeast as the director! This show is gonna be great, so tune in Saturday February 20th and watch CROWBAR level New Orleans!”

Find tickets and exclusive merch items at THIS LOCATION.

For nearly three decades, the name CROWBAR has been synonymous with the word “HEAVY.” Since rising ominously from the swamplands of New Orleans in 1990, they’ve been hailed internationally as one of the world’s foremost purveyors of crushing, melodic sludge. The band’s most recent release, The Serpent Only Lies, issued in 2016 via Entertainment One (eOne) in North America and SPV overseas, is both an affirmation of the group’s staying power and a nod to their legacy. It’s an album that stands toe-to-toe with those early CROWBAR classics while maintaining the lumbering hooks of mid-period standouts like 1998’s Odd Fellows Rest and 2000’s Equilibrium. Wrote Metal Injection, “With CROWBAR being part of the great foundation that makes sludge metal, The Serpent Only Lies encompasses so much of the sound we love of sludge, while finding itself in a place where it is at once heavy, but has room for opportunity.” Added Blabbermouth, “Windstein was born to write crushing riffs. He continues to churn out riffs that will likely make two Hessians driving around blasting the album simultaneously look at one another in acknowledgment of ‘that riff!’ Which one? Those amazing riffs are peppered throughout the album…”

Already listed among the most anticipated records of 2021 by esteemed metal outlets like Revolver, Decibel, BrooklynVegan, MetalSucks, and so many others, CROWBAR‘s forthcoming new long player promises a sonic bone crush like no other. Stay tuned.
