LA FIN Raise Awareness Against Dog Abuse With New Evocative Video ‘Hypersleep’

In support of their critically acclaimed debut album “The Endless Inertia”, released last October through Argonauta Records, Italy’s extreme post-metal act (ffo Gojira, Btbam, Vildhjarta) LA FIN has shared an evocative, new music video. “Hypersleep” tackles the main theme of the album by focusing on the concept of self-awakening from a status of oblivious idleness far too common in today’s world.

To represent this on screen, LA FIN put on stage a subject which is not only close to their hearts but an important issue to stand up for, seizing also the opportunity to raise awareness for animal welfare by showcasing the unconditional bond between human and dog in an epic way.

“Hypersleep is a song about awakening, a path of recovery from oblivion towards self-awareness. This topic comes out from our experience as first-hand witnesses, seeing how often we all are imposed to a never-ending availability in our always connected modern society. The bitter truth about this hypersleep condition most people live in, is that meanwhile their time passes by, stolen right from under their noses not ever to be returned. This mindset can and must be acknowledged, though, so that the awakening can begin.” says LA FIN.

In order to discuss such a delicate topic on film, the band put a lot of work on the storyline: “We decided to represent the beginning of this awakening journey with a lone man dressed in rags, tied and blindfolded roaming in a static and lifeless scenario. The greyhound dog representing his consciousness awakens him as a spirit animal and shows the way, pulling him towards a new stage of awareness” explains the band about the brainstorming, adding also “we immediately agreed that a greyhound was the best choice. This breed has accompanied us since the dawn of civilization and yet is one of the most abused animals by man, offering a parallelism with the condition of human self-enslavement depicted in our video. We also felt that talking about this video would have easily drawn the attention on a topic we all hold dear, the adoption of abused dogs.”

Talking about the shooting days, LA FIN adds: “We can’t thank enough the human companions of Morante the dog, Silvia and Fabio, and GACI (Greyhound Adopt Center Italy) the association that helped them with the adoption: they were all very happy to help us and to be involved in the shooting of the video. Another huge thank you goes to Lucerna Films who helped us translate our ideas into this beautiful music video that we truly hope you will also enjoy!”

Following their critically acclaimed, 2016- debut EP, “Empire Of Nothing“, LA FIN‘s first full-length album unleashes a crushing sound infused by various extreme metal influences; always perfectly balancing between post-metal, prog, post-hardcore and black metal. Their three distinct guitars are turning the band’s songs into a furious riff monolith, weaved with heavy bass lines combined with ruthless and introspective atmospheric parts. Their wide dynamic range relies on the explorations of a fearless rhythm section and on the distinctive, primal yet bitterish screams and haunting clean vocals. The Italian band sets the orchestral dimension pioneered on their debut EP to a whole new level and into a 53 minutes long path of musical narrative, approaching the concept from 9 different points of view: “The Endless Inertia” is an album that enquires into the human mind and its awareness of time and will, exploiting the concept of inertia as a metaphor for quiet and stillness in people’s life, wether suffered or intentional.

“The Endless Inertia” was recorded and mixed at Phonograph Studio (TO) and mastered by James Plotkin (SunnO))), Isis, Tim Hecker, Ennio Morricone). To purchase your album copy, visit the Argonauta Records label store at THIS LOCATION.

Sweden’s Melodic Death Metallers THIS ENDING, formerly known as  A CANOROUS QUINTET, have released a new lyric video for ‘Annihilate’, the first track from their new album ‘Needles Of Rust’, coming May 28th.

The band issued the following on ‘Annihilate’:
This was the first song Linus Nirbrant wrote after the garden of death album. Another vicious thrashy song to bang your head to.The lyrics deal with the topic of neglect and how we as humans sometimes destroy what’s around us like we were some kind of gods. But also how we turn our blind eye to what’s happening to the world and to people around us.

2021 sees THIS ENDING returning with a true melodic death metal masterpiece called “Needles of Rust”. Nine songs of Apocalyptic, Brutal yet Catchy melodic death metal back to the roots of what was done earlier in A CANOROUS QUINTET. “Needles of rust” was recorded, mixed and mastered at Wing Studios by Sverker Widgren, To give the album cover the necessary atmosphere Björn Gooßes of Killustrations was hired once again (as on the previous album “Garden of Death”) to take care of the artwork and layout. Overall the lyrical themes for the Needles of rust album deal with different kind of nightmare scenarios. Some lyrics are loosely based on real events and things that has happened over the world. Some are just about nightmares as an overall phenomenon. All lyrics are up for personal interpretation, I just try to give a glimpse of what went through my head when I wrote them.

Track list

  1. My Open Wound
  2. Annihilate
  3. Embraced by the Night
  4. Eclipse of the Dead
  5. A New Plight
  6. Needles of Rust

Dragon Productions managing director Jörg Düsedau adds:
EINHERJER was the very first international band that I was in contact with, when I stumbled into this booking business many years ago. Somehow we lost contact back in the days, but finally EINHERJER joined the Dragon family some years ago. Another agent was in charge at that time and again we lost contact for unknown reasons. Over the years we met many times and always had great moments together. But when I met Frode and the lads again on the 70000 tons of metal 2020, we started to talk seriously again and decided to renew our business relation. The Dragons of the North are finally united again!“

Vincent LaRussa Recuits All-Star Cast For His Debut Album ‘Before The Storm’

In 2020 Vincent LaRussa began to record with established artists such Jeremy Asbrock (Ace Frehley, Gene Simmons Band), Eric Levy (Night Ranger), Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big,) and Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake, Cher, Trans-Siberian Orchestra.). Vincent, an accomplished musician himself who plays Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and Drums felt honored that these incredibly accomplished artists were interested in contributing their time and talents to his project.

Vincent LaRussa Before The Storm can be purchased or streamed at: https://smarturl.it/vincentlarussa

Utilizing these great artists, Vincent began to record his original songs including “Before the Storm,” “Empty Room,” “Won’t Be Lonely,” and “On the Ground” among others. For Vincent this was an opportunity to bask in the collaborative glow of playing with these wonderful musicians while taking his music to the next level.

Over the next few months, Vincent and his team recorded 7 songs in the impressive recording studio that he has built over the years.  The songs — which have received worldwide acclaim — are included on his debut album “Before the Storm” and are now available on more than 50 platforms worldwide including Apple music, Spotify, and Amazon Music. Another first for Vincent was performing in a promotional video for the title track which features appearances by Joel, Eric, & Matt.

Most artists can point to a moment in time, a popular song, or an artist that inspired them to pick up a guitar or drumsticks for the first time. But for Brooklyn born Vincent LaRussa, the driving force behind his lifelong fascination with music was a natural love of popular music with memorable hooks, which he learned about from his father’s love of Rock n Roll. Vincent remembers hearing his dad singing the day’s popular tunes around the house and remembers how taken he was by his dad’s passion for Rock, R&B, & Disco.

Vincent still recalls his first time touching a musical instrument at the age of eight. A knockoff acoustic guitar that he had been clamoring for was given to him as a Christmas gift by his aunt and uncle. Vincent remembers the initial joy from receiving the guitar, but he also remembers the frustration he felt shortly after because he had no idea what to do with it.

After two years of picking up the guitar and only making undistinguishable noise, Vincent’s eyes & ears turned towards the drums. A huge KISS fan, Vincent remembers wanting to imitate his first musical idol, their drummer, Peter Criss. Aware of Vincent’s interest in percussion, a family member gave Vincent his first drum set and fortunately drums came much easier to Vincent.

At the age of 18, Vincent decided to try his hand at recording demos of original music. This led him to once more pick up a guitar, this one electric. This time, Vincent was able to teach himself simple barre chords which allowed him to begin to tap into perhaps his greatest gift, his songwriting abilities.

Inspired by the Beatles, Vincent became prolific at churning out songs that included memorable hooks and complex harmonies. In many ways, Vincent is a “throwback” to the days of some of his favorite songwriters such as Elton John, Paul Simon, and Billy Joel. Close your eyes and you can imagine traveling back in time, lying on a beach with the radio on, and a Vincent LaRussa song playing. There is no better example of that vintage sound than Vincent’s single “Before the Storm.”

Over the years Vincent has showcased his music with live performances in the tri-state area, and his music has received radio airplay. Building on what has been an extremely productive and creative period in his musical journey, Vincent continues to write and record new music in collaboration with top artists to bring his lush, vibrant music to the ears of a growing fan base.
