VOODOO CIRCLE Unleash New Music Video “Locked & Loaded”

Classic hard rock masters VOODOO CIRCLE proudly present their new music video, filmed for the title track (and latest single) of their new album, „Locked & Loaded“. The clip was directed by Kai Swillus (Buntmetall). „Locked & Loaded“ (Digipak, colored Vinyl) was released on January 15th.

If you ask the fans of German hard rock act Voodoo Circle about the most impressive line-up in the band’s history, they will vote almost unanimously for the one that recorded the second album “Broken Heart Syndrome” (2011). At that time, band mastermind, guitarist and main songwriter Alex Beyrodt was supported by three excellent musicians, namely vocalist David Readman (Pink Cream 69), bassist Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) and drummer Markus Kullman (Glenn Hughes, among others). So it comes as no surprise that Beyrodt is proud and happy to be able to present the return of that outstanding team on Voodoo Circle’s latest release, Locked & Loaded. “This constellation presents Voodoo Circle at its strongest, especially since the new material is practically tailored to our classic line-up,” the exceptional guitarist explains.

From the opener ‘Flesh & Bone’ and the two subsequent tracks, it’s apparent what Beyrodt is talking about: the band celebrates a powerful, deeply melodic hybrid of hard rock and melodic metal, featuring succinct quotations and bluesy elements, interspersed with intelligent references to their own icons. “The truth is that I had written a dozen songs fairly early, before Mat and I got together and decided that we wanted to embark on a slightly more retro and 70’s-oriented direction. Once the return of David and Markus was a fact, I sat down again and wrote some more numbers with that 70’s vibe concept at the back of my mind. Because we absolutely wanted David’s charismatic voice and Markus’s brilliant drumming to play a prominent part in those new songs.“

It turned out to be a wise decision to adapt the stylistic direction of Locked & Loaded to the current personnel situation: Voodoo Circle have achieved a perfect mélange of different influences. There are at least three numbers (‘Wasting Time’, ‘Magic Woman Chile’ and ‘Devil With An Angel Smile’) that bring to mind that famous airship, while the above-mentioned ‘Flesh & Bone’ and ‘Eyes Full Of Tears’ are an unmistakable homage to Whitesnake and their more bluesy approach. “Here you can hear David highlight impressively how much depth his voice has,” enthuses Beyrodt, adding with a wink: “And the title ‘Straight For The Heart’ indicates where the journey is going.”

ODD DIMENSION Release ‘The Invasion’ Official Audio Video

Progressive metal power force ODD DIMENSION have released an official audio video for the song ‘The Invasion’, taken from their long-awaited third album, ‘The Blue Dawn’, which will be released on March 26 on Scarlet Records.

This is how the band commented: “We are very happy to be back with our first single ‘The Invasion’. The song describes, in the general concept texture of the album, the moment in which the two travelers, Marcus and Eloise, are attacked by an unknown space population called Helidunians, aiming to invade their planet and use their just built space stations to steal energy for their travels. The track starts with a power guitar riff and shows a variety of musical moments, that together with two strong vocal performances by Jan Manenti and Aileen perfectly anticipate the band’s intentions on the upcoming album.”

‘The Blue Dawn’ is an intriguing existential Sci-Fi concept-album in the vein of Rush’s ‘2112’, which is beautifully portrayed by the cover artwork of none other than renowned artist Gustavo Sazes (Angra, DGM, Firewind, James LaBrie).

Heart and brain, passion and rationality… progressive and metal

SWEET OBLIVION – Feat. Geoff Tate – To Release New Album ‘Relentless’ In April, New Single Out Now

SWEET OBLIVION – the musical project centered around revered vocalist Geoff Tate – return with new album “Relentless”, produced by Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere, Archon Angel, Timo Tolkki’s Avalon) and it will be released on April 9, 2021 via Frontiers Music.

Today, fans can get their first taste of the album with the release of the single ‘Strong Pressure’.

“Relentless” is the hotly anticipated sophomore album from the new metal project Sweet Oblivion, which showcases former Queensrÿche vocalist Geoff Tate. Conceived, overseen, and A&R’ed by Serafino Perugino, President and A&R director of Frontiers Records, the project sees Tate returning to a musical style he is revered for. The self-titled debut album caused quite a stir in the international hard rock and metal scene since it brought Tate back to a musical landscape akin to the sound of the stone cold classic metal albums he released with Queensrÿche during the ‘80s. But what made the album work so well was that instead of being a simple throwback, other different musical influences were thrown into the mix, allowing fans to hear Tate in a simultaneously familiar and new musical setting.

While the production and main songwriting on the previous record were handled by Simone Mularoni of DGM, this time the production was instead handled by his fellow Italian metal maestro Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere, Timo Tolkki’s Avalon, Archon Angel).

Not only does Aldo have producution and songwriting credits on the album, he also features on guitar. Other musicians appearing on the album include Michele Sanna on drums, Luigi Andreone on bass, and Antonio Agate on keyboards.

This time around, Tate is more involved in the songwriting and asked Aldo to draft a very special song for him, which he would ultimately sing in Italian. The song,  ‘Aria’, also features guitars from Walter Cianciusi and Dario Parente, who are now in the Operation: Mindcrime live band with Tate.

“I have been spending more and more time in Italy over the last few years and the people and culture have captured my heart. I truly enjoyed working with my Italian counterparts to create this classic metal album,” says Tate.

Musically, this album showcases the great songwriting and performing talents of Tate, Lonobile and his cast of musicians and also marks a very welcomed return for Tate to a style that he made famous along with his former band.
