ODD DIMENSION Release ‘The Invasion’ Official Audio Video

Progressive metal power force ODD DIMENSION have released an official audio video for the song ‘The Invasion’, taken from their long-awaited third album, ‘The Blue Dawn’, which will be released on March 26 on Scarlet Records.

This is how the band commented: “We are very happy to be back with our first single ‘The Invasion’. The song describes, in the general concept texture of the album, the moment in which the two travelers, Marcus and Eloise, are attacked by an unknown space population called Helidunians, aiming to invade their planet and use their just built space stations to steal energy for their travels. The track starts with a power guitar riff and shows a variety of musical moments, that together with two strong vocal performances by Jan Manenti and Aileen perfectly anticipate the band’s intentions on the upcoming album.”

‘The Blue Dawn’ is an intriguing existential Sci-Fi concept-album in the vein of Rush’s ‘2112’, which is beautifully portrayed by the cover artwork of none other than renowned artist Gustavo Sazes (Angra, DGM, Firewind, James LaBrie).

Heart and brain, passion and rationality… progressive and metal

SWEET OBLIVION – Feat. Geoff Tate – To Release New Album ‘Relentless’ In April, New Single Out Now

SWEET OBLIVION – the musical project centered around revered vocalist Geoff Tate – return with new album “Relentless”, produced by Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere, Archon Angel, Timo Tolkki’s Avalon) and it will be released on April 9, 2021 via Frontiers Music.

Today, fans can get their first taste of the album with the release of the single ‘Strong Pressure’.

“Relentless” is the hotly anticipated sophomore album from the new metal project Sweet Oblivion, which showcases former Queensrÿche vocalist Geoff Tate. Conceived, overseen, and A&R’ed by Serafino Perugino, President and A&R director of Frontiers Records, the project sees Tate returning to a musical style he is revered for. The self-titled debut album caused quite a stir in the international hard rock and metal scene since it brought Tate back to a musical landscape akin to the sound of the stone cold classic metal albums he released with Queensrÿche during the ‘80s. But what made the album work so well was that instead of being a simple throwback, other different musical influences were thrown into the mix, allowing fans to hear Tate in a simultaneously familiar and new musical setting.

While the production and main songwriting on the previous record were handled by Simone Mularoni of DGM, this time the production was instead handled by his fellow Italian metal maestro Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere, Timo Tolkki’s Avalon, Archon Angel).

Not only does Aldo have producution and songwriting credits on the album, he also features on guitar. Other musicians appearing on the album include Michele Sanna on drums, Luigi Andreone on bass, and Antonio Agate on keyboards.

This time around, Tate is more involved in the songwriting and asked Aldo to draft a very special song for him, which he would ultimately sing in Italian. The song,  ‘Aria’, also features guitars from Walter Cianciusi and Dario Parente, who are now in the Operation: Mindcrime live band with Tate.

“I have been spending more and more time in Italy over the last few years and the people and culture have captured my heart. I truly enjoyed working with my Italian counterparts to create this classic metal album,” says Tate.

Musically, this album showcases the great songwriting and performing talents of Tate, Lonobile and his cast of musicians and also marks a very welcomed return for Tate to a style that he made famous along with his former band.

Legendary ALICE COOPER celebrated his birthday last Thursday – and proved he is still one of the best and most relevant rock artists. In celebration, Alice Cooper released “Social Debris” from his upcoming studio album “Detroit Stories”.

The track is released digitally and it is accompanied by an official music video.

To celebrate the special occasion in style, Alice Cooper decided to offer “Social Debris” as free download for 24 hours on the artist´s website www.alicecooper-detroitstories.com.

“The single “Social Debris” is a gift to Detroit, to my fans and to myself”, says Alice Cooper. “The track was written by the original Alice Cooper band.
We never thought that we would ever fit in; the Alice Cooper band didn’t fit in with anybody, because we were doing things that no other band did. We didn’t fit in with the folk scene, we didn’t fit in with the metal scene, we really didn’t fit in with anything that was going on at that time. We just always felt like we were outsiders. We felt like we were social debris, we were in our own little world. So “Social Debris” was just the original band writing a song about us, essentially. And it came out sounding like it belonged into 1971. That’s just the original band – you can’t change that, it’s great.”

“Detroit Stories,” Alice’s upcoming new album, is a celebration of the sound and spirit of the Golden Era of Detroit rock.

“Detroit was Heavy Rock central then,” explains Alice, “You’d play the Eastown and it would be Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, the Stooges and the Who, for $4! The next weekend at the Grande it was MC5, Brownsville Station and Fleetwood Mac, or Savoy Brown or the Small Faces. You couldn’t be a soft-rock band or you’d get your ass kicked.”

“Los Angeles had its sound with The Doors, Love and Buffalo Springfield,” he says, “San Francisco had the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. New York had The Rascals and The Velvet Underground. But Detroit was the birthplace of angry hard rock. After not fitting in anywhere in the US (musically or image wise) Detroit was the only place that recognized the Alice Cooper guitar driven, hard rock sound and our crazy stage show. Detroit was a haven for the outcasts. And when they found out I was born in East Detroit… we were home.”

50 years later, Alice and Ezrin have united in Detroit with their Detroit friends to record “Detroit Stories,” Cooper’s new album.

DEVIN TOWNSEND is currently working on new material for upcoming albums, and for a current lack of touring possibilities and encounters with fans on the road he decided to do a series of live albums, quarantine albums, and generally interesting projects that keep people entertained while he’s busy on his next larger releases.

Devin comments:
“So we bring to you the ‘Devolution Series’: a grouping of oddities and interesting material that I would like people to hear, but don’t necessarily want to present as a ‘major release’. The series will include all the quarantine songs and concerts, as well as various live shows from the past few years.

The first release is a remixed and remastered version of the ‘Live in Leeds’ show that was originally on the ‘Empath’ Ultimate Edition. It was a cool acoustic show that deserves to be heard I think, so we can use this as an introduction to the series.

I’m am currently deep in the writing of my new projects and am very excited to be doing so. Thanks for facilitating my ability to do that, and I hope you enjoy the ‘Devolution Series’.”

The ‘Live in Leeds’ show has previously only been released in video format, and “Devolution Series #1 – Acoustically Inclined, Live in Leeds” now marks the audio release of said show. It will be released on March 19th 2021.

As a warm-up to this release, check out the ‘Hyperdrive (Live in Leeds 2019)’ video here:

Israeli progressive metal outfit SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE have unleashed a new single and music video –  “Ascend,” through Sensory Records, USA.

View SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE’s “Ascend” HERE.

While their new LP for Sensory Records is finalized for Spring release, SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE presents “Ascend,” through a lively video captured on the band’s European tour with Orphaned Land before the global pandemic halted performances.

With the new video’s premiere, the band’s founding guitarist Tomer Pink notes, “It is with an utmost excitement, to finally share with the world ‘Ascend,’ the first single from our album Mountain Fever, our most diverse album yet. We think there’s something for everyone here. Turn off the lights and let’s dance!”

Offers the band’s new vocalist Vidi Dolev, “We’ve been working on this one for quite a while and thanks to COVID-19 we have been waiting even longer to release it. We played ‘Ascend’ live on our latest European tour. We filmed the song throughout the shows and were astonished by how well it was accepted. We dedicate this one to our friends and followers; you might find yourself in this video! A last memory from the live concerts before the world had stopped. Ascend is about the good things that make you feel bad and the bad things that make you feel better. Enjoy.”

Find exclusive new merch for the single HERE.

Full details on SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE‘s Mountain Fever LP will be issued in the weeks ahead and will see release this Spring.

Mountain Fever will be SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE‘s their first release for new label home, US-based Sensory Records. Their fourth LP, and sixth overall release, Mountain Fever was recorded between Golan Heights to Fascination Street Studio (engineered by David Castillo) and mixed by Jens Bogren (Leprous, Katatonia, Opeth). Here, SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE continues pushing the balance between pioneering experimentalism to their own take on modern pop culture and its manifestation in the Middle East. Revealing an album composed of African and Balkan brass sections, Arabic violins, extended vocal techniques, and several special guest appearances, the band explores radio friendly hooks that emerge out of heavy riffs and polychromatic arrangements.
