MESSIAHVORE To Release New Self-Titled Album On February 26th

Hailing from Denver, Colorado MESSIAHVORE are set to release their self-titled album via Coffin & Bolt / Golden Robot Records on 26th February.

“MESSIAHVORE‘s first album release features 9 tracks. All the music was recorded live in studio and then the vocals and some extras added after the fact. We were stoked to have tracked all in the same room with one another and bring the music with the natural energy, feedback and volume of our live performances.

The recording was done in Denver in our own commercially run studio known as “The Crash Pad” Bart, the guitarist and singer engineered the recording. We simply set up and test tracked, locked in the tones and let it rip. The results speak for themselves. We are proud of our first effort and are looking forward to sharing it with all the heavy music fans of the world.

Lots of density on this debut release. Thick guitars and bass combined with saturated vocals. Catchy hooks but not overly commercial.
The Last Word is an epic instrumental that supplies ambient vibe for days. Betrothed hits hard and is either about overbearing control or Vampires. You can make the call. Cult Worship is one of our favorites and Doublecrossstarts out with some Sabbath vibe then moves into desert rock territory. MESSIAHVORE mixes elements of groove metal, doom, stoner rock and a bit of industrial to complete the sound.”

MESSIAHVORE were only formed in Mid-2018. However collectively members have been working the Denver scene for years. Bart McCrorey Started out in the punk rock outfit St James Gate then joined the local skate rock favourite Frontside Five. Bart played lead guitar and co-fronted the band for a 10-year stent. Jenn began playing bass when asked to join The Blackouts in 2008. The all-female hard rock band that still plays in Denver today. Jenn and Bart asked long-time friend Bailey Cecil to play drums for them. Bailey had a strong background in the stoner and doom scene in the area hailing from fronting Bronze on guitar and drumming in Core of the Earth. Kevin Disney was the first and only guitarist the band tried out. They knew him from a band called The Worth. Kevin supplies an excellent amount of weird mixed with sonic knowhow.

The intent of MESSIAHVORE was to play heavy groove intensive rock that draws from their favourite stoner, doom, and whatever else that is sonically pleasing to them.

It was a fast start for the band, opening for Fu Manchu, Sasquatch, Nebula, Daikaiju and were slated to play with Lord Dying then the COVID hit the states. You know the rest of that story. This led to them buckling down and writing a seven song EP. The band signed to Coffin & Bolt Records which is incorporated with the international mainstay Golden Robot Records.

New drummer Brokk Dagaz and Bart met while recording a band at Bart’s studio The Crash Pad. After working with Brokk, Bart took note and tapped him for a collaboration project called The Bloodaxe released in 2018 that featured Bart on most all the strings and Brokk on drums. The collaboration part was 14 of Colorado’s aggressive vocalist writing and performing on the release. After this venture it was clear that Brokk would be hit up in the future and fortunately he was available and willing to step in.

Brokk comes from a Philadelphia death metal band Nefarious. The dude has chops for days and easily adapted to MESSIAHVORE’s driving style. He has great feel and grooves the shit out of the riffs. A fan of classic metal and an open mind to music, much like the rest of the band, he was the perfect fit to solidify the line-up.

Former IRON MAIDEN Singer BLAZE BAYLEY & Guitarist CHRIS APPLETON Talk New Album ‘War Within me’

Jimmy Kay and Alan Dixon from Canada’s The Metal Voice  recently spoke Live to former Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley  and his guitarist Chris Appleton (Absolva) about Blaze’s upcoming studio album “War Within Me’ which will be released April 9 2021. All songs written and produced  by Blaze and Chris Appleton. Blaze and Chris also answered fan questions.

When asked about the writing of this new album
“We did the trilogy, it was a big undertaking. Three albums, three years. We spent so much energy making those three albums of great quality in the songs that we just ran out of energy creatively speaking. We were going to come back from South America and do a little bit of touring then do some writing then some festivals, Then what happened was we did one of the last gigs of any band I think in March 2020 at Burr Fest in London and it was fantastic and then gigs disappeared and never came back. We were already scheduled to start recording so in one way we were really sad that all these shows disappeared but each festival that disappeared gave us an extra three days to work on the album and what we did was use that as sort of cooking time which is very important for the process that we write. And it was great it gave us that little bit of extra time to really find the arrangements, we are always looking for the best journey. From the start to the end how do we connect the lyric, the music and the emotion.” Blaze

“There was a bit of tangling in writing songs, it does get challenging at times but that’s just one of the things we do when we are songwriting cause we are always trying to get the best results and if one of us is thinking one way and one is thinking the other. I think the good thing about me and Blaze is that we always want to try everything with a song before we actually go one particular way. ” Chris Appleton

“We had some ideas that were in the vault for a couple of years, a lot of brand new things and we knew at the beginning that it was a positive album and it was going to talk about heroes. The album was going to say when you feel
hopeless, when you feel like you can’t go on, get this album out and remind yourself that you can. ” Blaze

When asked if the musical direction  of the new studio album is more like Iron Maiden or Blaze Bayley solo
“It’s a combination of both, everything that we do has that kind of Maiden influence. I wouldn’t say it’s an out and out  Maiden copycat when you are listening to it. If you say harmony guitars and memorable riffs like Maiden then it’s definitely in there but if you listen to the album it goes towards the heavier side of metal and it does sound like a Blaze Bayley solo album. This is the fourth album I have worked with Blaze with and because we have written so many songs together now we just jell.” Chris

When asked about the production
” We went back and listened to all my solo albums and started to get a vibe, it was good because it gave us a common reference when we were writing the new album of the parts we liked from the past music. We took a decision that we would record this at home studio cause we had great success with my acoustic album” Blaze

When asked if Blaze would be open to supporting  Iron maiden on tour
“It would be a lot of fun, certainly I would love to see the guys, I spoke to Steve Harris a couple of months ago about what he is doing and how we are coping with everything. So it really would be a fun thing to do.” Blaze

When asked what was it like performing with Paul D’ianno in the past
“So much fun, we had so many great times together, it’s been so much fun touring with him. What a great laugh, what a great personality.” Blaze

Would he consider Steve Harris  as a guest on a future studio Blaze album
“Yes, definitely, the toughest thing about that is logistics, where is Steve at that time, has he got time to do it, is he on the road with Maiden or British Lion? But yes.” Blaze

War Within Me” was recorded during 2020 with work split between Blaze’s studio at home in the West Midlands and Christopher Appleton’s studio in Greater Manchester. The now very consistent lineup, chosen from British metal band ABSOLVA, played on the album — Christopher Appleton (guitar, backing vocals), Martin McNee (drums), Karl Schramm (bass). Blaze and Appleton shared the work mixing and producing, while Ade Emsley (IRON MAIDEN, TANK, BRITISH LION, VOODOO SIX) handled the mastering. The striking and detailed artwork is provided by Akirant Illustration (IRON MAIDEN, “Star Wars”).

Crushing down-tempo, slam-infused deathcore six-piece DISTANT have released new single ‘The Eternal Lament’, ahead of their new EP Dusk of Anguish which is set for release via Unique Leader on 19th March.

The band commented: “Dusk is upon us as ‘The Eternal Lament’ sequels the previous Dawn of Corruption EP. The song welcomes the next chapter of the lore around Tyrannotophia by premiering on the upcoming Dusk of Anguish EP. Ruthlessness and gloom spread across this song and leaves the listener in awe from heaviness in its purest form.”

Tracklisting

1. The Offering
2. Dusk Of Anguish ft. John Robert C. (The Last Ten Seconds Of Life)
3. The Eternal Lament
4. Cryogenesis ft. Lochie Keogh (Alphawolf)
5. Graveborn
6. Rakva

Hailing from Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Bratislava, Slovakia, DISTANT have produced some of their most brutal work with the announcement of their third release for Unique Leader, featuring guest appearances from members of THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE and ALPHAWOLF.

Following on from 2020’s critically acclaimed Dawn Of Corruption EP, Dusk Of Anguish is the second instalment of the dreadful story of Tyrannotophia – the realm of the doomed and the sound of the world’s damnation. Dusk of Anguish picks up where Dawn of Corruption left off, as dusk shines down and an age of pain is ushered through the ashes of the fallen kingdom. With the establishment of a new ruler of Tyrannotophia a cacophonic madness is unleashed and waves of torment and purgatory stalk its lands.

DISTANT attempt to portray this ongoing carnage, dragging the listener straight to the depths of hell and depravity via their atmospheric, downtempo, deathcore juggernaut. Once again the EP features special appearances; this time John Robert C. of The Last Ten Seconds Of Life and Lochie Keogh of Alphawolf take guest spots on the EP to stunning effect.

Featuring cover artwork by Calean Stokkermans (The Acacia Strain, Lorna Shore, Misery Index),  DISTANT  perform the dark hymns of the fallen kingdom for listeners to experience the atmospheric despair and the grotesque void to come.

Since 2014 the band have bludgeoned their way across Europe, with the release of their first two EPs Slither (2015) and Tsukuyomi (2017). Recently the band joined forces with Unique Leader to release their debut full-length album Tyrannotophia (June 2019) and Dawn of Corruption EP (2020).

AMORPHIS Guitarist ESA HOLOPAINEN Launches Solo Project SILVER LAKE, Signs With Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast proudly announces the signing of the solo project of Amorphis guitarist Esa Holopainen, SILVER LAKE. Esa Holopainen made good use of his time in 2020 and fulfilled an old dream of his by recording his first solo album at the Sonic Pump Studios.

“As some of you might have noticed, I’ve been working on my first solo album. Well actually, I’d rather call this a project which I’m leading as it includes different musicians and vocalists that I’ve had great privilege to meet during these years. I’ve had this idea in the back of my head for years and now that Covid-19 hit hard on all of us, it was time to be creative and start this project.
The project is titled SILVER LAKE by Esa Holopainen and I am really happy to announce that SILVER LAKE is now signed to Nuclear Blast, which was a very obvious choice as NB is also AMORPHIS’ record label and I know all the label-personnel super well. Another natural move is that Grey Beard Concerts & Management is managing my solo stuff as well. I look forward to revealing more news about the artists who are collaborating with me in SILVER LAKE”
, comments Esa Holopainen.

Markus Staiger, Owner and CEO of Nuclear Blast Tonträger Produktion und Vertriebs GmbH adds: „An old friendship of almost three decades, that goes back to the very beginnings of AMORPHIS, connects me to Esa Holopainen. Back then we just licenced the band from Relapse for the European market. Esa Holopainen is a remarkable guitarist, who’s innovative way of playing is super recognizable. You can hear it right away if he’s involved and it was just natural for us, to work together in releasing his solo album. I was so surprised of how diverse the final product sounded and how Esa keeps revealing hidden sides of his music. The fact that many friends worked on the album as guests just makes this fantastic record complete and I’m convinced that not only fans of AMORPHIS will love it. I want to thank Esa for his loyalty and this truly beautiful jewel of an album.“

More infos about the upcoming Silver Lake By Esa Holopainen album will follow soon, so stay tuned and follow the band !

Detroit grind bringers SHOCK NARCOTIC — featuring current/former members of The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Black Dahlia Murder, Battlecross, and Child Bite — will make their livestream debut later this week opening for labelmates SCOUR!

Comments vocalist Shawn Knight, “We’re very excited for this show! I’ve been catching some of the recent livestreams — Bungle, GWAR, Down, Voivod, En Minor etc. — and though it’s not quite the same, having a show to look forward to at a certain time/date and knowing that I’m watching a performance at the same time as other fans all over the world is pretty damn cool and special.”

The Live From The Lair livestream will take place this Friday, January 29th at 7:00pm EST / 4:00pm PST with on-demand replays through January 31st at 11:59pm EST / 8:59pm PST.

Tickets are $9.00! Grab yours today at THIS LOCATION.

Forged in 2018, SHOCK NARCOTIC – made up of former The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Jeff Tuttle, Child Bite vocalist Shawn Knight, current Shit Life/former The Black Dahlia Murder drummer Zach Gibson, and Battlecross bassist Don Slater — spews forth a vicious synthesis of grind, metal, and hardcore. The band released its I Have Seen The Future And It Doesn’t Work debut full-length in 2019 via Housecore Records. Mastered by Brad Boatright (Converge, Integrity, Obituary) with guest backing vocals by Full Of Hell’s Dylan Walker, the record’s whirlwind of dystopian dread and existential nihilism reaped critical accolades, with Decibel Magazine championing its, “quick bursts of frustration…,” and, “effective combination of past and present into one bowl of bitterness.” Metal Injection lauded the record’s, “great mix of blinding grind and sludgy, distorted-to-hell riffing…,” while Astral Noize wrote, “The savagery on offer here has to be heard to be believed. Every chord, blastbeat, and hate filled vocal is there for one purpose only, to cause maximum carnage in the shortest amount of time. It’s a good time for grindcore and SHOCK NARCOTIC are here to show they belong at the forefront of the pack.” Added Distorted Sound, “SHOCK NARCOTIC have more than lived up the expectations that were placed upon them and certainly made a statement with this debut release. I Have Seen The Future And It Doesn’t Work is the kind of album that has enough layers that you will be discovering new parts on every listen and will prove to be devastating when the band hit the road later in the year.”

I Have Seen The Future And It Doesn’t Work is available on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats. Find physical orders, visit the Housecore Store HERE. Find digital orders at the SHOCK NARCOTIC Bandcamp page HERE where the record can be streamed in full.
