LOST SOCIETY Release New Album “Hell Is A State Of Mind” with Official Video for ‘Kill The Light’

Four years after the critical triumph of If the Sky Came Down, Finland’s most fearless modern metal force, LOST SOCIETY, return today with their explosive new studio album, Hell Is A State Of Mind, available worldwide via Nuclear Blast Records.

With this release, vocalist–guitarist Samy Elbanna, guitarist Arttu Lesonen, bassist Mirko Lehtinen, and drummer Tapani Fagerström step fully into the metallic identity they were destined to claim. Unrestrained. Unmistakable. Unapologetically their own.

From the opening moments, Hell Is A State Of Mind makes a bold declaration: this is modern metal without compromise. Where If the Sky Came Down and its predecessor No Absolution documented a band exploring new creative ground after shedding their early thrash roots, the new album captures the sound of a band that has stopped searching—and started defining.

This is LOST SOCIETY distilled to their purest and most defiant form. The album asks no permission, bows to no trend, and refuses to echo anything but its own voice. Massive hooks collide with punishing heaviness, cinematic atmosphere meets raw aggression, and every track pushes the boundaries of what contemporary metal can be.

To celebrate the release, the band have unveiled a brand-new music video for the crushing single ‘Kill The Light,’ a blistering showcase of their raw, high-voltage stage energy that has earned them a reputation as one of the most electrifying live acts in heavy music.

Frontman Samy Elbanna comments: “The 4 years leading up to the new album have seen the band grow as musicians and as song-writers, and we are proud to show the whole world just what this band is about in 2026. A dramatic, yet empowering lyrical storyline mixed together with big melodies, big guitar leads and orchestrations in a way you’ve never heard us do before. Think of this album as a clash of old school meeting the modern age – musically and visually. Welcome to “Hell Is A State Of Mind”.”

About EPICA:

The journey of growth follows a spiral, continuously widening and deepening with every cycle.

By sticking to this spiritual principle, symphonic metal innovators EPICA have reinvented themselves on their ninth effort Aspiral, releasing a studio album that shows a band brimming with a newfound joy in their own skin – standing united as a team, where every band member brought inspiration, ideas and years of songwriting experience to the table.

Aspiral bears testimony to this unity, but the band’s steep ascent within the past years was far from coincidental and required lots of hard work and combination of things happening after the release of their latest album Omega in the midst of a raging pandemic. After walking several steps off their usual path with their EP The Alchemy Project which saw them collaborating with artists such as Myrkur, Fleshgod Apocalypse or Uriah Heep, the band played a massive world tour and got invited by a certain band called Metallica for several dates, and played 4 sold out “Symphonic Synergy” shows with a massive orchestra and choir.

After diving deep into hypothetical theories, metaphysical mysticism and themes that were touching the fabric of our existence in the infinity of the universe, EPICA ’s 9th studio effort Aspiral centres on the work of sculptor Stanisław Szukalski. During the first Covid lockdown, bassist Rob van der Loo saw the documentary ‘Struggle – The Life And Lost Art Of Stanislav Szukalski’ and felt so inspired by his work that he wanted to write soundtracks for some of his sculptures, simply because each and every detail in his works are artworks on their own and their stories go very deep. And this is where the path started. Aspiral was born as an instrumental soundtrack to this world, an initially separate project that over time metamorphosed into the new EPICA record.

The title comes from a bronze statue Szukalski did in 1965. If you take a close look, you can see snails rebuilding elements out of the mud in cycles and this eventually leads to civilization and a woman reaching out to the sun. It stands for renewal and inspiration – keywords that define EPICA now.

For more than 20 years now, EPICA  have been standing tall. And while already their last efforts clearly showcased their commitment to the game, it is Aspiral that truly distils the very heart of their trademark sound.

BEAR Announce New EP “Anhedonia”, First Video Single ‘Empty Markers’ Out Now

Belgian mathcore heavyweights BEAR have announced their new EP Anhedonia, to be released 22nd May via Pelagic Records.

In celebration of the news, the quartet have today revealed their single ‘Empty Markers’.

Stream and pre-order Anhedonia here: https://orcd.co/bear-anhedonia

From the first ferocious moments ‘Empty Markers’ introduces BEAR’s unrestrained power and compositional ingenuity. Through each section of the song momentum is never lost, every riff lands with purpose, every rhythmic shift creating a push a pull that wrestles between melodic hook and rampaging intensity. From feral roars to whispers, from stark clarity to jarring razor sharp edges, this track ushers in the adrenaline-fueled EP with devastating effect.

BEAR’s sound is a calculated collision of technical precision and unfiltered aggression — a modern strain of European metal that balances math-inflected complexity with visceral, live-wire intensity. At the core of their identity a combination of brains and brute force.

With Anhedonia, BEAR deliver five songs of pure adrenaline and unfiltered heaviness that capture a band confronting the strange emotional vacuum that can follow trauma. Anhedonia is both a battle cry and a confession; a visceral document of resilience carved from years marked by illness, loss, uncertainty, and hard-won perseverance.

The EP was recorded live as a full band, with no click track, no studio safety nets, no artificial alignment. What you hear are four musicians locked in, feeding off each other’s raw and volatile energy in real time.

Guitarist James Falck comments: “After writing Vanta which was written during a particularly unpleasant moment in my life (cancer, surgery, treatment, family deaths, breakups), I personally was able to exorcise a lot of demons, and since then a lot of incredible things have happened in my life. Making music has always been a big source of therapy for me, and these songs really represent this state I was in until recently; where I had a lot to be grateful for, but the trauma and pain I had experienced in the years before had created a certain level of numbness, apprehension, and indifference.”

Bassist Dries Verhaert adds: “We indeed approached this project quite differently, both creatively and in the studio. Looking back, I’m proud of what we’ve achieved. Anhedonia is BEAR at our most authentic and vulnerable. If you ever find yourself in the dark, keep pushing. Accept help from those around you, and keep moving forward. This album is proof that even in the toughest times, there’s a way through.”

Tracklisting:

1.    Empty Markers
2.    Lacerate
3.    The Smile
4.    Anhedonia
5.    Metastatic

TERAMAZE Drop New Single/Video ‘The Invisible Countdown’

The Invisible Countdown Begins – TERAMAZE Drop New Single/Video.

Everything that has defined the band across their evolution is distilled here: precision riff architecture, emotionally charged melodic lifts, progressive twists that refuse to sit still, and a chorus that lands with clarity instead of chaos. It’s not indulgent. It’s intentional. Structured. Controlled. Dangerous.

“The Invisible Countdown” feels like the sound of a band that has stopped chasing and started owning.

The accompanying video strips the spectacle back to bone. No gloss. No cinematic smoke and mirrors. Just Teramaze in their raw form — performance first, ego last. It’s a visual statement that mirrors the philosophy behind The Silent Architect: warts and all, take it or leave it.

Production-wise, the album is modern but never over-sanitised. There’s space. There’s breath. There are moments left human on purpose. No grid-suffocated perfection. No artificial sheen masking the pulse. In an era increasingly dependent on algorithms and manufactured precision, Teramaze have delivered something defiantly organic.

The Silent Architect is not anti-technology — it’s anti-dependence. It’s a raised middle finger to a culture leaning on AI to generate art instead of bleeding for it.

Pre-order the album here: https://teramaze.com.au/

“The Invisible Countdown” is the sound of a band trusting their instincts over trends.

It’s progressive metal without apology.
It’s melody without compromise.
It’s Teramaze — fully realised.
No countdown clock required.
— Johnny Inferno

UNEARTH Rejoin Metal Blade Records + Announce New Management, Booking Agency & Live Dates

Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce their re-signing of UNEARTH!

Nothing short of standard-bearers and keepers of the faith for American metalcore, UNEARTH was the band born in the breakdown who never wavered from their love of European death metal melodicism, supercharged by American thrash and hardcore. Now, nearly three decades into a career that’s seen the Massachusetts mob play innumerable gigs and massive festivals on six continents, sell hundreds of thousands of records, and inspire some of the most important bands in extreme metal today, they remain a force with which to contend. And their reunion with Metal Blade Records – their label from their halcyon days of the 2000s first decade – only increases the ferocity of that force.

UNEARTH‘s change back then from hardcore-focused Eulogy Recordings to one with “Metal” literally in the name aligned with their sound’s sharpening into a more brutal “Blade.” This time it’s more about going home to the host of genre-defining albums like The Oncoming Storm, III: In The Eyes Of Fire, and The March. It’s not to say they haven’t made great albums (see Watchers Of Rule and the latest LP The Wretched; The Ruinous) with great partners (MNRK Heavy – formerly eOne Music – and Century Media, respectively), but the lightning here has the chance to strike twice and UNEARTH are ready to ride it.

Comments vocalist Trevor Phipps, “Getting another shot at working with Metal Blade Records feels nothing short of coming home. We truly got our best chance at making a life of creating music and touring during our first run with Metal Blade from 2004-2011. Working with so many familiar faces we trust and appreciate is something we wholeheartedly welcome. The music we’re cooking is as heavy and boundary-pushing as we’ve ever been, and we look forward to sharing it with you all in 2027.“

“They gave us our start; now, they’re part of our future,” says guitarist Peter Layman. “After fifteen years apart, we’re back with Metal Blade, the home of some of our defining records. With the writing process well underway, we felt Metal Blade was the perfect fit for us and the direction we’re headed. We’re thankful that they feel the same way and know that what comes next will be our best offering yet.”

Adds Michael Faley, Metal Blade Records A&R, “It is an honor to have UNEARTH back in the Metal Blade family. Our history with the band includes some truly incredible moments in this label’s catalog. Reconnecting with them now, at a time when both the band and the label have grown so much, is a massive win. We’ve always believed in their vision, and we’re honored to be the ones helping them tell the next chapter of their story. A new Storm is coming!“

Additionally, UNEARTH is pleased to announce their new management home of AISAmusic and European booking agency, Cobra.

Says Phipps, “We are excited to team up with AISAmusic for a new era of UNEARTH. Simon Füllemann has been a friend, peer, and colleague of ours for almost 25 years, while Bradley Zorgdrager has proven to be an ally in this business in the few short years we’ve known him. With new music, tours, and partnerships coming, we are eager to get in the studio and back on the road to riff with you all.“

“We couldn’t be happier to join the AISAmusic team for management,” notes Layman. “Heading down a new path with Simon and Bradley at our side has instantly had a positive impact, and we know it’s only the beginning. Their professionalism, knowledge, experience, and level of planning gives us the best opportunity to be successful moving forward.”

Phipps continues, “We want to thank the good people at Cobra Agency for bringing us onto their killer roster for Europe and Asia. We look forward to spending a lot of time on the road with you all, starting this summer with a European festival and club run.”

Layman concurs, “We are incredibly proud to announce our partnership with Cobra Agency for booking throughout Europe and Asia. One of the best parts about being in a band is sharing your art while visiting incredible places around the world. We know that working with Cobra Agency gives us the best opportunity to continue doing this.”

UNEARTH‘s nearly thirty-year ride has been wild enough thus far. As one of the key bands of the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal (NWOAHM), they rose alongside the likes of Killswitch Engage, Lamb Of God, Shadows Fall, Darkest Hour and more. “It was a healthy competition between all of us,” recalls Phipps. “It made for some great music and opened up a new chapter in American metal.” And though the Wave ain’t so New anymore, the great music continues as UNEARTH opens a new chapter of their own.

Sounds Of Delusion, a sludge metal band that started as a solo project by Juuso Raatikainen (Swallow The Sun) has grown into a trio and now offers a new song, Saint.

“It seems that we need greedy bastards to lead us to self-destruction. That’s what makes humanity so wonderful to follow,” says band leader Raatikainen.

The band will play their first gig at Kuudes Linja in Helsinki on May 29. The live lineup includes Okko Solanterä (Horizon Ignited, I Am the Night), Antti Karhu (Shining [NO], Post Pulse), Pekka Löhönen, and Juuso Raatikainen. The gig will celebrate the album release of guitarist Karhu’s other band, Post Pulse, and will also feature a performance by Turku-based rock-metal hybrid Sisin.
