Marko Hietala Leaves NIGHTWISH And Public Life

NIGHTWISH and their bassist Marko Hietala have parted ways.

Nightwish have posted the announcement, via their official Facebook page:

“Marko’s resignation has left us with some difficult decisions and choices to be made. After much thought and consideration, we have, in mutual understanding, decided to perform the upcoming ‘Human. :II: Nature. -world tour’ as planned, but with a session bass player. The live line-up will be announced at a later date. We respect Markos decision and wish him all the very best. We will not comment any further.”

Resignation announcement from Marko:

“Dear people. I am leaving Nightwish and my public life.
For a quite a few years now I haven’t been able to feel validated by this life. We have streaming company big guns demanding 9/5 work from artists of inspiration while unfairly sharing the profits. Even among the artists. We’re the banana republic of the music industry. Biggest tour promoters squeeze percentages even from our own merchandise while paying dividends to Middle East. Apparently some theocrasies can take the money from the music that would get you beheaded or jailed there without appearing as hypocrites. Just a couple of examples here.
This past year forced me to stay home and think. And I found myself very disillusioned about these and a lot of things. I found out that I am in need of that validation. For me to write, sing and play, I need to find some new reasons and inspirations. ”My Walden” so to speak. And it’s even in my book that I’m a chronic depressive. It’s dangerous for me and the people around me, if I continue. Some of the thoughts a while back were dark. Don’t worry, I’m fine. I have my two sons, a wife, the rest of the family, friends, a dog and lots of love.
And I don’t think that I’ll be gone for good.
Conspiracy is the word of the day. For the people who like them I need to say that my 55th birthday is now on 14th of Jan and I’ve certainly done my time for now. Blaming for instance Tuomas is an insult to both him and my free thinking. This is a very sad thing to all of us too. Have a care please.
But of course now we’ll know, if some go there on purpose.
There are a couple of things agreed on that I will do on 2021. Otherwise I kindly and with respect ask the media, bands, artists projects etc. to not ask me for anything within the next year. I have some reinventing to do. I hope to tell you about it on 2022. It’s not a promise though.
I am so sorry about this.

P.S. Tony Iommi is an exception to the “no contact whatsoever”. Childhood hero takes a precedence.”

TRIAL (SWE) Announce EP ‘Sisters of the Moon’

On January 29th, TRIAL (SWE) will release a new 2-track EP, Sisters of the Moon, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of Sisters of the Moon, a video teaser can be viewed at: metalblade.com/trial – where the EP can also be pre-ordered as a 7″ in various versions.

The members of Trial (swe) joined forces in 2007 in Sweden, laying their previous musical endeavors to rest to create something together. Doomed by the restlessness of youth, many songs were written during their humble beginnings, but few withstood the test of time. For two years, Trial (swe) rehearsed, wrote and fought their way through hard times – until finally, in 2009, they found Linus, who was able to unite the band and become the voice of Trial (swe).

From then on, their vision became clear. The group released their first demo in 2010 – without money, proper equipment or label – which lead to a record deal for their first full-length, The Primordial Temple (2011). Determined to develop their brand of heavy metal even further, Trial (swe) wrote and recorded the Malicious Arts EP (2013), which became yet another stepping stone from where the band was to where they wanted to be. “That EP, in many ways, became our first road to liberate us from ourselves,” Trial (swe) recalls. “Rising from the ashes of our former selves, we took things further beyond, which ultimately resulted in the album ‘Vessel‘.”

After earning acclaimed reviews for Vessel (2015), Trial (swe)‘s popularity continued to grow, and it wasn’t long before Metal Blade Records signed the band. With plans to re-invent themselves once again, Trial (swe)‘s debut for the label proved to be another step forward in their career. They took the colossus that is Motherless (2017) and headed out on the Roadkill tour together with Metal Blade comrades Ram and Portrait to conquer Europe. After the tour, the cold winds of change were blowing. On the other end of the storm, Arthur W. Andersson (ex-Air Raid) stepped forth as the new front-man of the band. Re-energized and fully focused, they entered their new phase. As the curse of the world grew stronger, they decided to reveal their new singer through their EP, Sisters of the Moon. Covers of Fleetwood Mac and Black Sabbath were recorded during the black summer of 2020, displaying new levels of Trial (swe) – traditional yet unconventional. “With ‘Sisters…’, we decided to pay tribute to one of the biggest bands out there, the Mighty Mac. Our version is a different take than the original, filled with blazing guitar duels and piercing vocals. This is a side of Trial (swe) you’ve never heard before,” the band explains. “For our Sabbath cover, it all made sense to record ‘Die Young,'” the band continues, “as it is the most outstanding song on ‘Heaven and Hell‘. This one is more true to the original, and we are happy to share both of the songs with you.”

TERMINAL BLISS – featuring members of Pg. 99, Mammoth Grinder, Suppression, and more – today shares their ten-track chaotic debut EP Brute Err/ata via Relapse Records. Brute Err/ata is available for physical preorder via Relapse.com HERE and on all streaming services HERE. Physical preorders will be released February 26th.

Comments TERMINAL BLISS, “We couldn’t be more excited for folks to hear Brute Err/ata. This group of songs came together rather quickly. In part because of our decades long relationship to punk and one another. I think for the four of us, this band was just something we’d all been chomping at the bit to do for a while. Each of us brings a clear creative vision to the songs and we chisel away at them. We did a lot of meticulous work tweaking the sound and the mix until it was as close to what we were thinking as we could get it. We wanted to make the songs as feral and unhinged as possible. Brute Err/ata is just a snapshot of what we’re trying to do and we are already working on newer material.”

Brute Err/ata Track Listing:

  1. Clean Bill Of Wealth
  2. Anthropodmorbid
  3. Dystopian Buffet
  4. The Ominous Hum
  5. Small One Time Fee
  6. 8 Billion People Reported Missing
  7. Tumoresque
  8. Discarded Wallet
  9. March Of The Grieving Droid
  10. Hidden Handed Artificial Harassment Experimental Run Amok

That’s vocalist Chris Taylor talking about TERMINAL BLISS, the new band featuring his brother and guitarist Mike Taylor, drummer Ryan Parrish, and bassist Adam Juresko. With a pedigree that includes Pg. 99 and Pygmy Lush (the Taylors), Darkest Hour and Iron Reagan (Parrish) and City Of Caterpillar (Juresko, Parrish) the members of TERMINAL BLISS are a veritable who’s who of Virginia punk. “We’ve all orbited each other’s bands forever,” Taylor says. “It’s been going on twenty years since I met Ryan – we used to live together. So, we’ve been in and out of each other’s circles forever.”

Inspired by the likes of Born Against, Gauze and Void – not to mention Black Flag, Crass, Negative Approach, Disrupt, Necros, Crossed Out, and Disclose – TERMINAL BLISS conducted their first band practice on January 14th, 2020. Just six weeks and five practices later, they were recording their full-length debut with Majority Rule frontman Matt Michel in the engineer’s chair.

The name TERMINAL BLISS was born out of the merciless consumerism and environmental destruction that are America’s enduring legacy. From dystopian, sci-fi themes in tracks such as “March Of The Grieving Droid,” to the apathy of the checked-out masses on “Small One Time Fee” and the personal recount of loss and the inefficacy of our healthcare system in “Clean Bill Of Wealth,” it’s the merging of personal experience and social critique that has informed the punk edge behind the members of TERMINAL BLISS for decades now.

For TERMINAL BLISS, it’s become a crucial combination born of decades of playing live. (Unfortunately, the band’s first show was cancelled when the US began its COVID-19 lockdown.) “I realized early on that if you don’t write something that resonates with yourself on a fundamental level, it’s going to get trite when you’re performing night after night,” Taylor says. “So, with the idea in mind that we’ll eventually play shows, I always try to write something that will resonate.”

(0) Unleash Intense Official Video For “Skarntyder”

Progressive black metal enigma (0) starts off 2021 with an intense official video for their single “Skarntyder”, taken from their debut album, SkamHan, released in April 2020 via Napalm Records.

The video leads straight into the pit of a sweaty concert hall, filled with intensity and bursting energy. In front of an electrified crowd, the Danish wrecking machine bursts of dedication and will. It states clear that (0) is more than ready to deliver their colossal and brutish live performances all over the world. There is a lot to expect from this monster, once unleashed!

Brutal riffs and forcing drums, followed by an unmistakably grim guitar solo – “Skarntyder” sets the story of people who as children are branded as difficult and weak, and thus scorned by society, to music. The imaginary Danish word “Skarntyder” describes a person that points out and brands a person that misbehaves or doesn’t fit in. FJ’s dark growls paired with an intense and exhilarating atmosphere round off the song in perfect harmony and pull the listener even farther into their somber void.

Watch the energetically bursting official video for “Skarntyder” below!

The band states:
“In 2020 we released our debut album SkamHan, and we learned that releasing an album during a worldwide pandemic significantly changes your plans. On March 11th 2020 final cut and edit for the Skarntyder video started, and on the same night Denmark was shut down, leaving the video in an unfinished state that we were not willing to release.

Today we are thrilled to finally release the video for Skarntyder, the 2nd single from SkamHan. The video was shot by Michael Panduro and Rasmus G. Sejersen. Edit and post production was done by Rasmus G. Sejersen.

Skarntyder is a frantic track about a person who is branded as weak or difficult. Someone who doesn’t fit in. The track has quickly become a band favorite when playing live, as the energy and desperation from the track really comes to life when performing it live. Playing it feels like running downhill, on the verge of tumbling over. Hopefully we will get to play it live a lot more in 2021 than in 2020. Enjoy!

Watch “Skarntyder” HERE:

In rousing dark euphoria, (0) lifts the veil for their debut album, SkamHan, a lucid dream wrapped in growling dark melancholia. Seven explosive and oppressive tracks presented in a frenzied mania blossom into a hallucinating mixture of black, drone and post metal spiced with intense sludge and progressive influences. The opening track, “Tyndere End Hud”, infatuates with intoxicating riffs and forceful growls, drawing its listener into a dark vortex. Pain and gloomy nothingness dominate the luminous expanse of SkamHan and symbolize the extreme soundscapes in an opus of darkness. The eponymous track crucially grows to a cathartic, vibrating atmosphere and ruptures in energetic parts due to agonized, bloodcurdling growls. The atmospheric expansiveness of the final track, “Alle Renses”, reminds that the routes of (0) remain labyrinthine. The elusive quintet bites the ear of the listener and drips with blackened obscurity.
