The first of many IMMORTAL GUARDIAN collaboration covers, this is the band’s version of the classic song ‘Into The Pit‘ by Rob Halford’s band FIGHT. For the cover video, Immortal Guardian collaborated with Metal Mike Chlasciak (Halford, Sebastian Bach, Testament, Pain Museum) and Leandro Caçoilo (Viper, Eterna, Seventh Seal, HardShine, Dirty Dogs, Caravellus).

“This is the first of many covers, so let us know what you would like to hear next and who you would want us to collaborate next!”

Check out the video:

Cover Video Line-up:

After winning over new audiences with their acclaimed 2018 debut full-length “Age of Revolution” and touring relentlessly alongside fellow shredders such as Marty Friedman, Powerglove, and Exmortus, IMMORTAL GUARDIAN gathered in Las Vegas last year to begin recording their second album. As the spread of COVID-19 and the subsequent pandemic began to ensue, each member of the band retreated to their respective hometowns. With shutdowns around the world being enforced, the band completely scrapped the record that they had been working on and were heavily inspired to write and create a new thematic record about their emotions surrounding current events.

“Psychosomatic” is a product of the extraordinary events of 2020. The result is a truly multi-national record, with guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian remaining in Las Vegas, vocalist Carlos Zema recording his vocals from his home in Brazil, new drummer Justin Piedimonte joining the band from his hometown in Montreal, Canada, and new bassist Joshua Lopez remaining in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN‘s native Texas.

The group, founded by Gabriel Guardian, whose uncanny ability to play guitar and keyboard simultaneously has been showcased on MTV’s “Amazingness” along with his unique dual-instrument covers of classics by the likes of Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Guns N’ Roses have garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and have been built upon the band’s following through multiple self-released EPs before signing with M-Theory Audio for the 2018 release of their first full-length record, “Age of Revolution”. The band has also performed live alongside some of the biggest names in metal, including Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Kamelot, Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, Slayer, Metal Church, Soilwork and Steve Vai, and in countries such as Brazil and Russia, and during high-profile performances at ESPN’s X Games, South By Southwest and the Fun Fun Fun Fest.

“Psychosomatic” is the next step in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN’s evolution while still capturing the band’s exhilarating trademark melding of melodic power metal with progressive/shred tendencies.

Digital pre-save, CD and limited-edition purple vinyl pre-orders for “Psychosomatic”, which will be released by M-Theory Audio on February 12, 2021 are available now at http://smarturl.com/immortalguardian.

Doug Aldrich: “Glenn Hughes Brings A Grooviness & Heaviness To The Dead Daisies” + Glenn’s Thoughts On Working w/Iommi

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 13, 2021
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Doug Aldrich, GLENN HUGHES, The Metal Voice. Leave a comment

Canada’s The Metal Voice recently interviewed Rock legend Glenn Hughes ( Deep Purple, Rock Hall of Fame) and guitarist Doug Aldrich (Dio , Whitesnake) from The Dead Daisies to talk about their upcoming album Holy Ground which is due on January 22, 2021 via SPV.

What is it like to have Glenn in the band now?
“It’s a brand new day, we are very happy to have Glenn leading this ship. It’s still the Dead Daisies but it’s a brand new start. It’s not so far away from Deep Purple in some ways, that there were different eras of Deep Purple. This is like Version four, Mark four of the Daisies” Doug Aldrich

“It’s another chapter in my life, it was a good experience for me to come into this, Doug is an old friend, I love Doug, it’s a great ship we are flying here. We go back 25 years and Doug played in my band about 5 years ago, it was fantastic and back then we talked about doing more work, we didn’t know it was going to be in The Dead Daisies but here we are doing just that .” Glenn Hughes

What is the difference musically between the Corabi era and now with Glenn in the band?
“We love John (Corabi) and are dear friends but basically it’s a great change because we are not trying to replace John, we are going in a fresh direction. Glenn basically brings a grooviness and heaviness to the band that maybe we didn’t have that before with John when we had a different thing. They are like apples and oranges in terms of musical styles. ” Doug Aldrich

“It would have been silly to repeat the same formula. I was brought into this band to change the game if you will and to make it just a different vibe. With the same classic rock movement, the same generational values where classic rock is. I don’t like the word classic rock or any terminology for rock music, it’s just music that we feel is appropriate for this time. The songs were written before pandemic and they speak to a lot of people. For me to join this band was a beautiful moment for me cause I wanted to express myself musically in this band and I was allowed to do that. So we are pressing forward, we are not looking so far back, we are in the moment, we are pressing all the right groove moments,we are just getting on with life. We spent a lot of time together last November and December. We made the album in France, we lived together and we ate together, we laughed together, we rocked together and it was a great moment. You can hear on the album there is a great blend of musicians all bringing the love to the table and I’m glad we captured ‘Holy Ground’ in that moment in time before we got hit with this awful virus  ”  Glenn Hughes

Does Glenn Hughes write about waterfalls like Dio wrote about Rainbows?
“No one has touched on this before, I’m glad you touched on it, if you listen to my work even 50 years ago I was singing about the sea, of the ocean, on the shore, like Medusa, always on the shore. I live on the ocean here in LA. It’s like I am always singing about the sea, it’s enchanting to me so I thought the waterfall I can’t go back to the shore, it’s typical Glenn stuff, it’s tongue and cheek but it’s what I write about. ”  Glenn Hughes

Will you be playing cover songs live?
“I don’t think there is going to be a lot of covers going forward, I think the Dead Daisies were a cover band and that is now going to change cause there are so many songs that have been written and been written as we speak. I just think The Daisies were a little short on material before and it’s just time to press the boat about and this band is a killer band.”  Glenn Hughes

Glenn any other projects going on with Tony Iommi?
“There is always something going on with Tony (Iommi) we have done three albums and you never know and there is a possibility there will be another one. But at this time it is so hard to say anything I’m just doing everything I can to make sure The Dead Daisies get to as many people as humanly possible.” Glenn Hughes

Heavily distorted and down-tuned sounds turn the legendary fields of the German Freak Valley Festival into madness. The undisputed masters of fantastical otherworldly sludgy doom, CONAN, will cast a spell on the listener and propel them straight into the crowd, captured in dust.

Three years after the release of the ferocious caveman battle doom masterpiece Existential Void Guardian, CONAN waves the flag of Pain again and releases Live At Freak Valley on March 12, 2021 via Napalm Records. After their 2013 live album, recorded at Roadburn festival, and the self-released Live At Bannermans, their third live album could not be recorded at a better place than Freak Valley Festival.

“Satsumo” is oppression, massiveness and rage. The first single and video breaks out as a harbinger of the devastation that CONAN brought at their massive show at Freak Valley Festival. With mechanical wizardry heaped upon their pure-hearted compositions, they cement their colossal and brutish live ascendancy! HAIL CONAN!

BLACK SABBATH’s ‘Heaven and Hell’ And ‘Mob Rules’ Deluxe Editions Available March 5th

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 13, 2021
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Black Sabbath, Ronnie James Dio. Leave a comment

Ronnie James Dio joined BLACK SABBATH in 1979 which resulted in two back-to-back classic albums: Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules. On those memorable albums, Dio’s soaring tenor and gothic songwriting were the perfect foil for the band’s bone-crushing mix of razor-sharp riffs, intense grooves, and dark imagery.

Rhino salutes the long shadow cast by this short-lived lineup with newly remastered versions of both albums expanded with rare and unreleased music. HEAVEN AND HELL: DELUXE EDITION and MOB RULES: DELUXE EDITION will be released separately on March 5. Each album will be available on 2-CDs ($19.98), or a 2-LPs ($31.98). Due to space constraints, both vinyl editions include a selection of bonus material from the CDs. The music will also be available via digital download and streaming services the same day. A rare live version of “Heaven And Hell” and a previously unreleased live version of “The Mob Rules” are both available today as digital singles. Click HERE to listen now.

Dio joined Black Sabbath for the first time in 1979 and quickly found kindred spirits in guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward. When Heaven And Hell was released in April 1980, the album was met with effusive reviews for the band’s return to form on metal masterpieces like “Neon Knights” and the title track. The album reached #9 in the U.K. and #28 in the U.S., where it was also certified platinum.

HEAVEN AND HELL: DELUXE EDITION adds several bonus tracks that have never been released in North America, including versions of “Children Of The Sea” and “Die Young” recorded live in 1980 in Hartford, CT. The set concludes with live rarities like “E5150” and “Neon Knights” that originally appeared in 2007 on the Rhino Handmade’s limited edition collection, Black Sabbath: Live At Hammersmith Odeon.

To follow-up Heaven And Hell, the group returned to the studio in 1981 to begin recording Mob Rules, with drummer Vinny Appice joining the band for the first time. Released in October 1981 and certified gold, the album was another Sabbath classic, including standouts like “The Sign Of The Southern Cross,” “Turn Up The Night” and the title track.

MOB RULES: DELUXE EDITION boasts an expansive selection of rare and unreleased recordings. Along with additional tracks from Live At Hammersmith Odeon, the collection also includes a newly mixed version of “The Mob Rules.” The cherry on top is an entire concert recorded in 1982 in Portland, OR. Highlights include stellar performances of “Neon Knights” “Heaven And Hell” and “Voodoo.”

The Dio-fronted lineup disbanded in 1982 but reunited a decade later to record Dehumanizer and tour before going on hiatus again. The group came together again in 2006 to record three new songs for Rhino’s era-spanning collection, Black Sabbath: The Dio Years. The collaboration led to a highly anticipated world tour in 2007 where the group was billed as Heaven And Hell. Their final album of new material, 2009’s The Devil You Know, again demonstrated the musical bond between the band members was unparalleled.

ILLT Drop Debut Single “Scythian King”, Debut Album “Urhat” Coming In Fall 2021

Get ready for some raw and mind-blowing Extreme Metal illustrating the ugliness of this world in the upcoming sonic masterpiece! ILLT drop their debut single titled “Scythian King”, and you can listen to it here:  https://orcd.co/scythianking

ILLT is the alter ego of Norwegian composer and guitarist Roy Westad. It’s an uncompromising sandbox and a culmination of decades of passion and love for extreme metal as an art form. His debut album features session musicians from Megadeth, Soilwork, Chrome Division and Nile. The album was mixed by Kurt Ballou @ Godcity and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Alan Douches.

ILLT has commented: «Scythian King is about warfare in the dark ages (the previous period, not the one we’re heading into now), and how man’s intolerance, fear, constant all-consuming greed and self-interest has brutally shaped the world over thousands of years. I had great fun writing a song with swords in it without actually having to pose with one.»

On January 11th, Symphonic black metallers WELICORUSS premiered their “Welicoruss – 15 years of Madness” documentary. The documentary is available in Russian, English, German and Czech subtitles.

Watch the documentary here:

The band stated about the documentary:
“We have been waiting for this moment, our long-awaiting documentary (or as we used to call it “DVD” in broadcastings, although this medium has lost its relevance) is out now, dedicated to our 15th anniversary and it’s called “15 years of madness” in 4 languages (Russian, English, German and Czech)!
Thiss quite voluminous work, including footage taken from the very begining of Welicoruss and first concerts in Russia, opinions of musicians playing in Welicoruss at different times, colleagues of metal scene, business guys, fans, backstage footage and much more! This documentary, we think, is interesting not only for Welicoruss’ fans, but also for heavy music lovers who want to learn more about metal scene in Russia (Siberia), to follow Alexey’s complicated path from distant Siberia to Prague and to know what is behind bands music and conception. We have been waiting for that moment for a long time, we hope you too!”

🙏Support the band’s crowdfunding capaign which is going to the end very soon: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/welicoruss-making-two-new-videos–2#/”

Just recently, WELICORUSS released a new live video for ‘Frostbounded’, from ‘Enter The Eternal Fire Fest 2020’, in case you missed it, watch it here: https://youtu.be/X30_zAGXunI

Symphonic Black Metal From The Coldest Depths of Siberia is what WELICORUSS (formed in 2005) have brought with them to us here in Europe. WELICORUSS appeared in Europe 4 years ago and they have already played all the biggest festival across the whole Europe and playing over 320 concerts. You will be absolutely stunned by their stage performance and imagery as they take you away on a journey far away to Depths of Icy Cold Siberia and back.
